Exactly! I had an old friend try to convince me that doing yoga was not the will of God as if I was some sort of robot. Safe to say, we're no longer friends bcz she kept pushing. I have runner's knee thanks to the military and hot yoga is one of the best investments I've made in my health. After my morning devotion, I do my yoga stretches for 15 minutes right on the floor by my bed. Great way to start my day. We in the West are always in a rush compared to our friends in the East who know how to slow things down. They live longer than we do in America. We can learn from them.
It's interesting, because there are yoga studios in Alabama, and people do yoga at home.

One Evie > room full of people. I think she made him better because it's a totally different enticement to be funny for your wife instead of random strangers you don't really care about on a personal level. Not saying he doesn't care about his audience, of course.

Not having an audience makes it similar to live radio. It's so much more real and personal, like your part of the conversation. They're talking to you and not pandering to a crowd.
Well put.

Totally agree. Damn I will miss this. So mor authentic, close and Evie. I sure will miss all this.
Nothing demonstrates how strong your religion is, than how afraid even the idea of any other religion makes you.
Right?! Likewise for when someone says they don't believe/are an Atheist.
These people are fanatics, which makes it all the funnier that they actually understand nothing about the thing they're so fanatic about. The point is to resist temptation, not to remove it. The point is to choose faith after deep reflection and consideration, not to have it rammed down your throat and unthinkingly regurgitate rote wailings and incantations. These are the people who think that God is a bureaucrat who keeps score of what you eat, and which magic words you say, and whether you put your weewee in the right yoohoo, and who can be tricked on technicalities. If there's a Heaven to go to, you'll get in there based on the content of your character, not on whether you fucked fish or meat on Fridays.
I disagree with that. I have a certain religion and I am not afraid any other religion or belief or non-believer. That's what Christ would have done and that's what I try to do everyday. I think you can find proof of anything if you search enough that are afraid and those are easy to find, it's harder to find people who aren't afraid of other religions or beliefs or Creeds or nonbelievers. Its easy to generalize to "all" people, what u find in a "few".

Looking at the comments - so many about Evie being a wonderful addition to the show. And I couldn't agree more - her laughter, as well as the laughter of the crew, made these monologues even funnier.
I guess I'm happy enough for Colbert, but I've really enjoyed not having an audience taking up a third of the show with prompted applause. For someone sitting at home, the show's been better for the last year.

Hey Alabama, remember when you preached abstinence and wound up with one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates?
Guess what? You're about to have some of the most flexible, Hindu, pregnant teenagers in the nation. Namaste. 🙏
Well, they were already pretty flexible before the yoga ban was lifted. Apparently, inbreeding does funny things to your ligaments, giving better flexibility.
Lmao!
Christians need to learn how reverse psychology works on teenagers. Get ready to see a yoga boom in old Alabamydaughter.
I don't think Alabama remembers much at all.
Inbreeding tends to result in diminished cognitive function.
I want to be completely transparent and honest here... I really would like the show to continue like this. I REALLY enjoy it this way and I know I'm not alone.
I started watching him religiously, right before they went to remote format. I was HOOKED! Being a homebody, never liking to be in large crowds my whole life, I thought I was the odd-one out loving the intimate, casual format. But, I'm seeing a lot more popularity with it, and with other late night talk shows like Seth.
Me too. The Late Show became my favourite late night show after they all shifted to a remote format. Some shows like The Daily Show and Conan are (imo) better with an audience but Stephen seems to thrive at home, and I love hearing Evie and Jim(?) giggle and guffaw respectively in the background

Prathima's whole segment was incredibly funny to me as an American Hindu. The Alabama rationale for banning yoga was as hilarious as it was racist.
They’re really racist down there.
As a Christian I completely agree. Southern Christians make us look so bad if you have to make other religions illegal just to keep people into your own, what does that say?
The left screams "cultural appropriation" about everything, until someone says "we don't want to appropriate your culture, stop forcing our kids to"
As an Alabama Christian, I’m truly ashamed most the time. It’s worse than you think. We still have a constitution from 1901 with 948 amendments. We are in serious need of an overhaul, to get rid all racist and archaic laws. It’s a flipping mess down here.
I know!! And then only letting it come back with English names for poses? Why would learning words from a different language mess with your religious beliefs? What’s wrong with respecting yoga for what it is? Why mandate the white washing of shit? Alabama you really need to stop being on the wrong side of history, it’s painful to watch
I love how the writers are now being brought out more like Daily Show correspondents! Please keep doing it when it goes back to the theater.
I like this better, I don’t care for audience, hearing eves laugh is better than audience

What are the Vegas odds for Stephen bawling his eyes out when he comes out to do the monologue and is greeted by one the of the biggest ovations to ever grace the Ed Sullivan?
Nothing speaks for a country with "freedom of religion" and "free speech"" like banning yoga in schools for fear of people might convert to Hinduism. Or banning the word "Namaste".
nothing will fix alabama but the atom bomb. but it's worth understanding that only about 1% of the country lives there, and not even all of them agree with the crazy.
I don't think you know what freedom of religion is.

The thing that sucks about going back to the theater is not having the segments with the writers and staff. It's always good to see a show give everyone a chance to be a part of it in the spotlight
I think they will incorporate that. I think he will incorporate what worked with his quarantined setup. I could be wrong. I hope I am not. I didn't watch Colbert much at all when he had an audience, and now I watch it religiously. I may abandon him again if he don't do right by us.
@@clockwisecat1310 I've always liked Colbert. All the way back to his Comedy Central days when he appeared on the Daily Show with John Stewart before the Colbert Report spinoff. @@dansexton5962 I think, as I said, he will incorporate elements of it. I think the first few days/weeks are going to be awkward as fuk. I liked Colbert Report too - didn't see him on Daily Show because I have never had cable, and only saw Colbert Report when at my brother's - but watching some of that makes me cringe now. It's a bit dated and I have fully acclimated to his real persona and prefer it to the fake Colbert. BUT I think he's fucking funny and also humane. He's no David Letterman, though. He's a PERFORMER, for sure, and a better actor than Letterman, but Letterman will always reign supreme as far as talk show hosts. For me, anyway. Sorry, got off on a tangent. We’re moving into our forever home on 6/14 too!! All the amazing things happening that day! So excited!!
So glad you're going to return to the theater! I have truly loved watching your show anyway, and boldly laugh at the humor. But I know you want to get back there in front of your live audience! You're the best!
