I have a friend who is an illegal. He is from Mexico. Two months ago he called and asked a favor of me. A friend of his had a relative coming to California from Venezuela. He went to the border at San Ysidro (aka San Diego border) and asked for asylum. Lenny had a place to stay in Northern Cali and a job waiting for him picking fruits & vegetables in the fields.
Lenny was granted asylum but was told he needed to go to Florida for some reason. (I forgot what they told him). He was bused to Florida with a bunch of other asylum seekers and illegals.
Last week he was told they needed to move him up north. He was in California, close to where he had to go, now he is stuck in the northeast. He now doesn't have enough money to get back to California. He is stuck in the northeast because of DeSantis and the games he plays with people lives.
Lenny came to the United States because he couldn't make money in Venezuela. He said he couldn't remember the last time he had three meals a day but it was close to two years ago. He said he always had at least one meal a day. He needed to come here to survive. DeSantis should be locked up for using people as pawns in his political bullshet.
UPDATE: lenny is a asylum seeker not because of hunger but out of fear for his life. Gangs control many small towns

So what that imply was, the old deal was still valid. USA made a deal with the then government of China, the RoC, to give the RoC Taiwan. I'm really tired of Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, both of whom I like very much, making disrespectful jokes about the Queen's death and the events that followed. The UK has a culture very different from ours, and I thought the events following the Queen's death were beautiful and admirable. They showed the world how much the Queen was loved, admired and respected. It's too bad us Americans can't have the same love and respect for our leaders because none if them deserve it! God forbid any of them should reign for 70 years! We may not live in a monarchy and have all the pomp the UK has, but we should respect it. And we should all be sad at the passing of a wonderful lady who deserves the respect shown to her.

I wasn't planning on watching so much yesterday, I'm not a monarchist, but it grabbed and moved me. There were two services, the funeral, and then another after at Windsor. The Lord Chamberlain was the head of the Queens household and his stave is the symbol of his authority, so breaking it and leaving it with the coffin was full of symbolism more nuanced than Steve describes. Just before that happened the crown, orb and sceptre were removed from the top of the Queens coffin and placed on the altar, again deep and moving symbolism
Just to add, there was a THIRD ceremony, after the coffin was lowered later in the evening, with just the Queens family. No cameras, no live reporting. Just them.
Sorry, but there wasn't a 'funeral' but two funeral services. One for world leaders in Westminster Abbey, and one for the stuff in Windsor Castle.
The funeral itself took place in the evening with closest family only.

I was surprised to see the RCMP (Canadian Mounties) leading the procession, quite the honour.

My Take-away from the Queen's funeral is that the British and the British Commonwealth Countries have something sorely lacking in many other countries, particularly America. A common unifying force, divorced from political orientation. Demonstrated by the outpouring of respect for tradition and national identity and protocols. In all of these things and more, the Queen was a living testimony. A meaningful sentiment every British subject is brought up with, and is aware of, and part of them. Even though they might not embrace each and every aspect of the institution. As a P.S. One of the intangibles of the sentiment is an acceptance that Americans are ignorance of that sentiment, and are therefore not being wilfully disrespectful when they poke fun at things they do not understand.

Admittedly, humor, especially low humor, can be a dangerous business; as in this case when the intent apparently missed the mark. _(One of several reasons I have never taken up archery.)_ I have nothing but love for the impressive and exquisitely profound rhymeficationary exposition of the semipseudopsychosanctimoneous top poster; and for all manner of praying mantis as well, despite some of their questionable habits. We’re not in the pandemic at this point. Yes, Covid is still among us, but with natural immunity, vaccines, people knowing how to protect themselves, we’re dealing with an endemic. There’s a difference. President Biden spoke correctly.

IF that was all President Biden said, he's wrong. The full interview is probably available on CZcams. Our own emergency may have waned, but until emergency status is lifted from a majority of nations, it is still a pandemic. Covid is continuing worldwide because only a small percentage of countries have been able to obtain vaccines. Also, it resurges in cycles. Japan, for example, is at emergency levels again right now.
Because USA is not the world (something you people need to learn!) Biden can't declare the pandemic over.
