I watched the whole Rittenhouse case.
I didn't know that Kyle put out a dumpster fire that was being rolled down to a gas station to blow up, with people all around.
I didn't know that the Police were told to stand down as businesses were destroyed.
I didn't know that Kyles's Dad, Grandma, and Friends all lived in Kenosha, 20 minutes from where he resided with his Mom part-time in Illinois.
I didn't know that Joseph Rosenbaum knocked him down twice and then attempted to kick him with lethal force to the head.
I didn't know that Huber had hit him in the head 2x with a skateboard.
I didn't know Gaige Grosskreutz, a felon in possession of a firearm, aimed his gun at Kyle first, as he admitted on the stand.
I also didn't know that in the State of Wisconsin, it is legal for Kyle to have a gun, even at 17 (which was why the gun charge was dismissed).
I didn't know that Kyle did not cross state lines with a gun he wasn't supposed to have. The rightful gun owner did, as he was legally permitted to do.
I also didn't realize that Rosenbaum was a 5 time convicted child rapist and that Huber was a 2 time convicted woman beater. I didn't know that Grosskreutz was a convicted Burglar with an assault on his record also.
IF THE MEDIA DID THEIR JOB... we would ALL have known this!

Attorney: “Did you obey the officer?”
      Kyle: “Yes I did.”
(Rhetorical analysis, just building his character as someone who obeys the law)
      to:
Attorney: “Why did you try turning yourself in.”
Kyle: “Because I didn’t do anything wrong, I acted in self-defense.”
(How much their case hinges on the self-defense verdict, you bet your ass they had him say that for rhetoric)
We don’t even know if his testimony is entirely true about Rosenbaum. Too bad he’s dead and can’t speak his side.
Oath means nothing to defense attorneys, because they can make up anything in the gray parts of the case that they know the prosecution cannot prove or disprove.
I was on a jury for this DUI case where this guy was clearly guilty. Totaled his car with a 0.158 BAC. Evidence was stacked against him, but his defense lawyer pulled a story out of nowhere. He and his client devised a story where a random person the defendant met that day, they got drunk, the other man drove, crashed his car and left. Obviously, just a huge lie, trying to murk the waters of “reasonable doubt”. I learned to not take anything at face value. We the jury still deliberated a while because of that lie. But the point is that lawyers do lie, and the truth isn’t always the focus in court, especially when the defense is having their say.

It makes me happy to see so many people change their heart about him. I remember my siblings absolutely making him out as a monster and I laid into them some truth but they still held this belief he was there to cause trouble. It's sucks we live in a society that expects the individual to care more for other than themselves. Defending yourself is a violent act because it involves you being violent back. I think a lot of that mentality had caused a massive spike in mental health. We care more about how society treats a faction of people while negating your own health and communities around you.

While this may or may not be true (not the debate I would want to start), I find it kind of absurd that their way of making it "equal" would be to condemn this man as well. When it comes down to laws (disregarding any personal ethics or philosophies), this man was declared innocent. The exact same SHOULD happen with a black man. People are asking for equality in punishing innocents, instead of equality in being declared innocent. Let’s entertain that thought though. I forget the man’s name who was shot in the arm, but I’m gonna call him Gurt. Say Gurt shot and killed Rittenhouse, and he was on the defense. Gurt claims that Rittenhouse reracked his gun (his gun jammed, so he unjammed it basically - I’m not familiar with guns, so bear with me). According to Gurt, reracking his gun meant he pulled the trigger and it didn’t fire, and, despite Gurt’s hands being up, Rittenhouse was reracking with the intent to shoot him again, which he did, only in the arm though. Would you defend Gurt the same way you defend Rittenhouse, had Gurt instead pulled his pistol to Rittenhouse’s head, killing him? I mean, as far as anyone else knew in that moment, Rittenhouse was an active shooter at a protest. Would have been tragic, because we probably would still know that Rittenhouse acted in self defense with Rosenbaum. But Gurt would probably get the self-defense clearing too. And I think most people would say, including those who currently defend Rittenhouse, would say, “he put himself in a bad situation, and paid the price.”
And so, when you defend Rittenhouse now, great, one less person dead… but I just think: he put himself in a bad situation, and other people paid the price.
