  • Live Coverage: WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse - Kenosha Shooting
    Happening in Court:
Direct Exam of Kyle Rittenhouse - Defendant
    Charges:
    1. First Degree Reckless Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Joseph Rosenbaum)
    2. First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Richard
McGinnis, reporter for Daily Caller, not injured but near Rosenbaum when Rittenhoue
    fired)
    3. First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Deadly Weapon (unknown male)
    4. First Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Anthony Huber)
    5. Attempt First Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Gaige
    Grosskreutz)
    6. Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Person under the Age of 18
    7. DISMISSED AT THE END OF STATE'S CASE. Prosecution failed to put evidence in front of the jury that there was a lawful curfew in place (appears to be an oversight by prosecution) Defense moved to dismiss, judge agreed. Fail to Comply with Order of Local Government - Emergency Management Activity (citation, carries no penalty) - everyone present was breaking the 7pm curfew issued by the sheriff.
Possible Sentence: Max: Life in Prison Without Parole (WI does not have the DP)
JURY CHOSEN IN ONE DAY. 20 jurors have been selected in WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse. 9 men and 11 women. (8 are alternates)
Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 26, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz, 27. Prosecutors say that Rittenhouse, then 17 and from Illinois, was a vigilante looking for a fight. He, like other right-wingers, went to Kenosha, Wisconsin ostensibly to protect property. This happened as protests over police shooting local man Jacob Blake turned violent. Rittenhouse’s attorneys assert he was acting in self-defense. This case became a cause célèbre among conservatives.
Prosecutors have struggled in court, failing to introduce evidence of prior aggressive behavior. This included evidence showing him attacking a woman who was in an altercation with his sister. The other is that he was closely linked to the violent, far-right Proud Boys organization.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder said an appellate court would reverse him if he allowed these in trial. The evidence was too prejudicial, he said. He left it up in the air whether he would allow footage showing someone identified as Rittenhouse discussing a Black man exiting a CVS pharmacy. Rittenhouse believed the man was shoplifting.

Sarcasm disclaimer; how dare this young fella a) defend himself, and b) - unlike the violent, armed and unarmed lawless agitators who he encountered - be effective in his use of self- defence. Please ask yourself what right these violent agitators had in occupying, armed and unarmed, the public streets to lawlessly intimidate the general public, vandalise and criminally damage private property night after night, with impunity. The exposed criminal pedigrees of the individual agitators tells me all I need to know about the righteousness of their objectives. Why is their lawlessness protected? Don't worry that was a rhetorical question. Legally, and morally Kyle took instant, reflex and extreme actions to defend his life. His life was clearly threatened, he got the best of his assailants. Granted, as an immature inexperienced over zealous young man, he should have been home in bed, and not in the position he put himself in. It is what it is, but we need to talk more about the idea that radical, armed social hostile elements of society, seem to be granted a free pass to overtake public areas and to crap on and provoke law abiding sections of society.

The owners of the car lot asked Kyle to be there, to help keep the car lot safe, ergo, Kyle wasn't just there randomly to be a vigilante, but was asked to be there for a specific reason, which completely destroys the prosecutions argument that he was there to purposefully kill people. There's phone recordings of these requests by the by, but the car lot owners are clearly trying to commit insurance fraud over the event so they lied on the stand saying they didn't ask him to be there. The car lot owners credibility was brought into question by the defense to show that they're liars who will do anything to cover up the fact that they tried to claim far FAR more on their insurance then now.

The prosecutor does not want Justice. First he wants what all prosecutors want a win and in this case he wants to win for his political ideology trying very hard to stir up public anger so if he does lose he will get riots.

The prosecutor is questioning why he didn't stop after the shooting to offer medical assistance to his assailant...
this has got to be the dumbest line of questioning and prosecutor.

39:45 to when the prosecutor say "that's an argument you can make" that a guy with a gun in a mob of rioters attacking him is a threat

An argument you can make, man with a gun in his face. This prosecutor is terrible.

4:40 I can't find Kyle in the video or still frame. I see ppl crossing in the foreground, I don't see anyone drop a fire extinguisher. I can't see anything! I even took a screenshot and zoomed. If anyone can tell me where to look I'd appreciate it.
The jury only asked to view one video when they deliberated. Was it this one? I think it was.
I watched the whole trial, but I can't find Kyle in this video. And the judge didn't mention which video they wanted to view.
