- Group B Rally reaction. Rally reaction. Today I am reacting to Group B rally for the first time. I must say that the spectators were so close it made me anxious. The cars of Group B Rally seem to be more retro and "old school". This was a Group B Rally tribute video so I didn't learn much about the differences between Group B rally, WRC and Rally in general. Hopefully that changes moving forward and I can learn and react to more Group B. I hope you enjoy this first time Group B Rally reaction video.

Group B was roughly between 1982 and 1986. Thats why they look old. There were NO RESTRICTIONS on them. Eventually they were too dangerous and after some major fatal crashes (Some including spectators) the class was removed. Also...the races were on public roads so the fans were all over the place adding to the danger.
races are still on public roads as they were back in the days, those rallies are just better organized and they look after the crowd better. still last year seen stuff when someone coming with tractor up against rally car on the "track" :D
Playing piano with his feet , hit the nail on the head . What he is doing with his feet is a form of art ,toes to heal like playing piano. Class B drivers where total class 🇬🇧👍
I read somewhere that there were groups of fans trying to touch the car in the race. One of them had the best proof that he had touched it. I don't know who that fan is but after one race they found a finger attached to the car.
I saw these cars live. Whatta time to be a Finnish boy. Juha Kankkunen, Timo Salonen, Hannu Mikkola, Markku Alen, and my childhood hero Henri Toivonen, all the best pilots on group B were my countrymen.
6:25 I found one older ad for a 1986 Audi Sport Quattro S1 (right in the shot) for sale for €2 - €2.56 million. I converted it to NZD and it is NZD 3.53 - 4.52 million at today's current exchange rate.
I have in 1997. in my 11 year old BMW 318I. On the ICE, driven from the Zuiderzee. just? Because someone else did that in his Mercedes-Benz, with trailer. 21 years old.
Start of the video ... "they look ugly" ... ending of watching "they look ... Odd" your starting to GET IT !!!
Markku alen said that last race he had over 600hp and it was crazy engine. Rip henri and sergio. Too young to leave.
It was so insane, and it had to take some deaths to stop it. Henri Toivonen said/wrote something in the line with: how can we drive a car that does 0-100 in under 3 seconds on gravel? Over 600 hp and after a little while, the brain is so tired that you can not work. Everything is gray and green just blurring before you. (And if the group had not been cancelled, it would be like F1 in the 60's and 70's. People died every year. Lancia and also Audi had prototypes that they wanted to deliver, that produced between 800-1000 hp.)
those cars were anything else but no low-budget cars :D
in the 80's 90% of the cars looked like that is just time
If you think modern day rally was crazy
These cars were monsters
Edit:
Driver 61 on CZcams made a great video explaining what it was
That Audi Quattro is worth 2m+ something and can still keep up with newer Audis in drag race
Group B cars had "officially" roughly 50 to 75% more power than current WRC cars (some cars were officially dynoed at close to 550HP, while some of those same cars were claimed to have as much as 700 hp by observers and unofficial reports), and 50% less weight!! These cars were CRAZY fast!! In only 4 years of group B racing, several spectators got hit and died. What ended Group B was a driver who lost control and killed his co-driver and himself... it was just wayyyy too fast and dangerous overall to be sustainable long term! Sure it made a great show, but at what cost when people dies doing that show...
RIP Henri Toivonen and Sergio Cresto!
Rally cars today have 280 hp, group b over 500 hp. Walter Röhl group b driver in his old days.." Rally cars are for boy's, group b cars are for man!"
Nice that was interesting mah bro... Have a Great Xmas on sunday ! .. man those camera dudes where rite in that & the people are so close to the side lines lol.
You have a great Christmas on Sunday aswell Bro! Hopefully it's good weather .. might sink a beer 🍻
Hi coming from England I was a big fan of the Rally cars especially group B
They were KICKING Out 600-700 BHP AND they Sounded Freaking awesome All the stage's
Were Timed reaching speeds 100+ MPH and the Spectators did not bother about safety standing to close A Rally car came a corner and collided with Spectators which resulted in people getting killed and also Rally Drivers
The Car's were from the 80's which are worth a very lot of Money
All the best from Nottinghamshire UK👍👍👍👍
I had my license first. For Speedboats, up to 15 meters. And then my driver's license. And I had said that I was in favor of a small economical car. would go. 1986 BMW 318i. Yes, small!
btw, there is other video what is more explained about the tech of these cars and how group B ended (finnish very talented and succesfull young driver died brutally)
check "driver 61" explanation for group b...
those cars were monsters even for today standards , back in 1980 ferrari produced 155hp these monsters were 450 500 hp with weight below 1000kg , for the comparison same power is now in wrc rally cars in 2023
Group B all day 🤟
Wait for the "Dakar rally 23"
More rally reactions please
Yeaaah mate group b rally 😍😍
None of these cars are cheap 😂, in fact they may be the most expensive out of all to get your hands on today. A 'cheap' one of these will go for at least a healthy 120 - 200K€, the more expensive ones may shoot up closer to 2M€ or little upwards.
These crazy asking prices have to do with the rarity of these cars (both road and race counterparts) as restrictions were so few and mandated production for homologation was so small. Each one of those is a true unicorn.
Group B rally cars were born in 1982 from a change in the FIA's regulations, and this homologation/racing series went on until 1986, when they got banned for ever. This helped lead these cars to the myth-like status they are regarded with today amongst rally fans, to the point of seing one being almost a religious event, at least in the atmosphere surrounding the car.
I'm lucky enough to have seen these cars at a couple classic rally car events, specially when I got to see Joaquim Santos' RS200 in Barcelos last year.
This is gold 😂😂😂😂
YES!!!!!
People have different tastes. I don't like the looks of that Audi Quattro but most people seem to like it for example. The Lancia Stratos is my favorite, it looks cool AF.
Yes! That car is 🔥🔥
@@NZBOYY Which one would you choose to drive though if you were racing?
That foot piano is the driver managing throttle and breaking. You left foot brake while holding the accelerator in with your right foot to keep the turbo spooled up which gives you power as you get out of a turn because you don't have to worry about turbo lag. You can also rev match more efficiently and so on. Footwork of a pro driver with a manual. The more you know 🌈. Happy holidays from the USA.
Thanks for the info Jack! Happy Holidays 🎉
The car you called ugly is worth 2.5 million if you want to get it in absolute perfect condition nowadays.
Oh man 🤣😅 Goes to show how much I know HAHA!!! I did not expect it to be that much 😸
And the Dutch legend "Jan de Rooy". In its DAF twin engine, almost 1000hp. And 200km/h. 1988.

Appreciate your insight 🙂
similiar build 15k, same build 120k, same car +€1M
These cars was not low budget.
They where top competition cars,
Some reached over 500 bhp at less than 1000 kg.
Some of the ex-drivers cars do most likely go for over 1 million dollars and a road going version of the Audi goes for over 200.000 dollars.
Bro said ‘Herbie with Lindsay Lohan’ like that’s proper Herbie 😭
Oh man 😅😅😅😅
The Best! ..audi 5 cylinders..
😲😲😲😲😲😲
yes please , answer this question.what is group B?i know what is it(i'm french),i want to see your opinion,if you think like me,it's a fantastic, exciting era...
Adrenaline hits red 🚘👍🚘
♥
for beginning, that who said wrc is for boys, group B was for men, Juha kankkunen, he lives near my place, and my father built his house. he also has the most iconic group B and A cars in his collection, the audi in the very first shot WAS owned by him but he sold if for 1,2 million euros :D
what comes to the what those are worth, in the other video what tells more of these cars, it tells you things that certainly dont sound very cheap especially in those times like Kevlar stuff etc :D
i will leave you link to that video, it will be interesting, i promise ;) not sure if i already sent this link but well :D these vids are always interesting and fun to watch you react to :D
