Jen reviews the Dell XPS 17 (9700)!
I had doubts about the 9700's practicality. But for a specific type of users, the 17-inch XPS is a force to be reckoned with.

Like this comment if you're only watching this to admire the laptop, not that you can afford one anytime soon 😂
That thing is £3500 plus here for the top spec. Hell naw i can get a zephyrus duo for that kinda money
Very true. Its way too expensive. So I'm going for Asus ROG Zephyrus g14
MJL I purchased one over the one you suggested. After doing some tests I realised that I needed the 2060 graphics card which I am currently in the process of swapping over. But I am very happy with the machine otherwise. If your a serious creative get the 2060 graphics card and has a minimum of 32 GB. Using da Vinci and adobe sweats you will need these minimums. It’s advantage over MAC is it’s upgradability. And that is huge.
I'm waiting for the mine :3 Now at Dell you can have a 10 percent discount :)
I actually bought it but watch videos because i'm too impatient for the delivery💀
I can't speak for everyone else, but I am motivated to buy this over a desktop, because my office is in the basement and sometimes I want to take my "desktop" upstairs and work by the light of day. And a smaller machine will not have enough screen real-estate for my comfort while working. :)
I'm the precise niche user for this. I carry a 17" notebook (AW) but I'm not a gamer. I do it because about 80% of my work is from my desk, so I want something that offers me all the benefits of a desktop (especially a comfortable keyboard layout and display for multimedia viewing), but that I can pick up and take to a remote location very occasionally. Synching a smaller device is too much trouble for the small amount of traveling I have to do and hauling it through an airport now and then isn't that much of a burden. The pandemic made the choice of a destop-like notebook even more prudent. Excellent presentation, thanks!
Great review! Did you face any battery drain while the laptop is plugged into the power outlet?
thank you for a review that focus on the screen !
Thank you for the review 👍👍
Thanks for the review, is this spec - 10750 6 core, 1650ti good enough for basic video editing? not doing any 4K work now maybe in the future. 2060 but be too much for me as I do not game but if I want to get 8 core I have to go with 4K version which sucks up battery.
What do you recommend getting the Dell XPS 17 ? Or wait for a Mac book pro with arm ? I currently have a (XPS l502x win7 2011) never own a Mac book pro but the new processor look promising , I use it for movies music sometime photoshop but not professional mainly for entertainment always had iPhone what’s the better buy ?
Hey if you're in the US, how long did it take for dell to ship this laptop to you?
Thanks for this Dell XPS 9700 review
Awesome review!
Very nice review.
Very good review...provides a very realistic perspective to buyers. Kudos.
you guys were a little late to this laptop but i love your content so i watched anyway!
Hey thanks!
Very nice review. I didn't skip any second of the video
That was great review with all the essentials covered. It does help any potential buyer to understand what they are signing up for by going this route. This will be commitment to larger, bigger and good workhorse.
Love you Jen Jen!
It is very good... I like it... Keep doing great work...
Did she mention it can config with 2060 6gb gpu? And the small bezels are similar to 15in laptops on market, so portability is fairly maintained. And unique vapor chamber is not on xps 15, so it keeps it cooler, significant benefit and the 4k resolution exceeds 4k. It's portable, multi task, mobile workstation, yet slim, dream with great batter life, small charge adapter, and you can ge on it. Any downsides to it? It's winning machine for power users. Upgrade to 64gb ram, get Samsung 2TB ssd, and skin it, you will have solid machine for years to come.
Thank you for this informative review. It looks like the cpu used is the Core i7-10875H not the Core i7 10750H I can see in your review? Is this a mistake or did Dell change the cpu?
They use both, depending on the configuration. As far as I know, if you want the 2060 you can only get it with the 10875H, otherwise you can choose which one you want
Good review
Please review 2020 razer blade 15 base and acer predator triton 500! Thanks!
I can't understand why such a great content video has so less views....it should easily have 100k+ views....anyways appreciate ur work....great review... consider me as ur permanent viewer from now on👍🏻
Great review! I actually have the XPS 17 and loved the laptop stand! Can I get a reference to know where to buy one for me?
hello, don't you think it's a bit heavier?
Hi does it fit in your backpack? Also config did you get?
Im divided between macbook pro 16 or xps17. But the new M1 processor really attractive
I saw One Piece running on the XPS 17. Good choice! :D
I don't know what color to get of the XPS. Arctic White or Black. Any suggestions?
I'd prefer the white, so stunning! It shows off the beautiful finish too!
ThinkView Global I actually just decided to go with the HP spectre x360 latest model. It was much more cheaper for way more higher specs. and I got it on sale. It’s $300 off right now at my local Best Buy.
I have had White Dell units and the keys are much harder to see and the backlighting never looks like it's on! The White might look nice but I prefer the Black keyboard deck as the keys are just much easier to see.
Pls review msi gs75 10th gen.
Thanks again for your recent uploads. This machine is for people who appreciate a 17 inch screen. They would be aware of the larger footprint and of the increased weight. They are also most likely aware that it is not as convenient to carry to their local coffee shop and that the battery would drain quicker than the one in their Kindle. Just as someone buying a large SUV would not expect it to fit it into a car space designed for a mini cooper. So, it's a bit futile to stress these peculiarities in your review. I also do not understand the gaming obsession. If I were interested in gaming, I would purchase a playstation and connect it to my TV set. Much bigger screen and with the dedicated controller, an overall much more pleasing experience.
Don't agree there with you on battery life. Depends wich model you buy. I got the fhd+, i7 750 with 1650ti and its battery life is insanely good. Way better then most 13 and 15 inch. I get between 10 and 15 hour.
Also its footprint is comparable with most 15 inch laptop since the bezels are so small. So not that big after all...
both 16 & xps 17 performance equally .........though mbp lacks vc but still it keeps the same clock speed as 17 & perform equally !!
I have the XPS 9700 with 4k screen and 10875H processor and although I find it runs a bit hot, it's fast and the screen looks amazing. Setting Intel power management to 'cool' is closer to what I would have expected from factory settings, and works for me. Your review is accurate!
How's the battery life on your 4K unit?
@@sheldon22 I'm not using it on battery much yet, to be honest. Between the beefy processor and running a 4k touchscreen at 500 nits, I'd be impressed if it got more than 3 or 4 hours if I'm using it like I normally use it (lots of stuff open at the same time). And the power plug is right here where I'm sitting, so..... 😊
@@Teague_races thanks. I'm looking for battery life and portability, maybe FHD+ and maybe 15 inch but man really want to see what the 17 screen is like in person
@@sheldon22 I can do some kind of test for you if you want to be specific about something standard to run and for how long. I can tell from reviews that if battery life is by far your top concern, you want the 1080p screen and you can get insane life off the big battery. But you can also impact battery life quite a bit with settings and your usage, so it's hard to give exact answers if I don't have both systems and more specific context. On the flip side, 1080p is a pretty low resolution on a 17" screen diagonal, so if you've seen the 4k display, it's an enormous difference. And touchscreen just puts it over the top for me. I'm pretty good at keyboard shortcuts and really thought when I was buying that the touchscreen didn't matter as long as it was 4k --- I take that back now..... it's pretty nice in random scenarios to just be able to tap the screen like it's my iPad. Also remember that the 17" has the vapor chamber cooling + better speakers and the 15" doesn't. I think the 17" runs hot so I would bet dollars to donuts that the 15" won't last as long (in regard to system functional life, not battery life).
@@Teague_races Thanks again @Teague Ashburn, I am looking at your specs because I want to get 8 core processor but if battery life is 4-6 then really may look at 1080. Do you think dropping to 2K will help with battery life? my normal usage is google tabs, microsoft office, outlook, and a bit of youtube in the background. When I do video editing I do understand battery life being lower. And how do you find the unit for portability? too big to lug around?
Why is your way of speaking English so adorable? I LOVED !

I have bought this laptop and unfortunately, it has many quality issues. The sound of the device started dropping only a few days after purchase. After which it started to have issues with the touchpad, it would go to sleep and I was not able to turn it on for hours. After endless conversations with customer support and many diagnostic videos later they sent an engineer to replace the hard drive, touchpad, and motherboard. The very next day after the replacement the screen went totally black and that was the end of it. I requested a replacement unit but Dell have been unhelpful and they refused to do so. I have been trying for 5 months now to get this fixed but without any success. I am currently stuck with a device that does not work. Overall, awful experience with the device and the tech support of Dell. Avoid it as much as possible.
PLEASE DELL MAKE ARROWS UP/DOWN AS FULL SIZE BUTTONS!!!!
Nice...👌👌
