Sisay cEDH Primer

- This video looks into Sisay and talks about how to build her. Not looking at anything specific but more broadly. There is a lot to say about her and I wanted to talk about what I consider important. sisay weatherlight captain is definitely a cool commander in this EDH format. I also think she is going to grow in power quite a lot as more legendary permanents are going to be printed.

Sisay superfriends decklist
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sisay-... - Hry
Hey, guys and gals. I was in the process of making my own Sisay deck but the wincon is the last part that i always doubt
Write down here what's your own wincon so we can inspire each other
Hopefully, Mons can like this comment so it goes up and everyone can find it.
Sure I will pin it.
My current wincon is a superfriends combo that wins with using Bloom tender - Derevi - aminatou - nicol bolas and oath of teferi.
It wins kinda fast actually.
I have 7 in my own haha, but the main ones I go for are Aurelia and helm of the host for infinite combat or Etrata the silencer and helm of the host. Or Voltron with Blackblade Reforged, Embercleave and On Serra’s Wing’s attached to Sisay. Or an infinitive mana and Kenrith the returned king to draw the deck or pump up creatures to huge proportions haha.
Skybind Amnesia Nicol bolas aminatou oath of teferi and godo helm
Im lag on older cards, so an aditional wincon outside of nicol bolas, teferis oath and aminatu, i got:
- Revel in riches + boardwipes (cause most of them doesnt affect my planeswalkers),
- shalai, voice of plenty + endless tokens + growing rites of itlimoc (but there are more like xenagos, the reveler)
Single player removal:
- evra, halcyon withness + trampel (like from garruk, cursed hutmann)
- vraska, relict seeker (as wincon it would be better to have the unseen or scheming gorgon)
Time play:
- chandra to burn every turn hp (also counters a little bit multible turn decks and sinergies well with thibalt, rakish intrigator)
- Primevals' Glorious Rebirth for non exiled permanently legends (esp good with tamiyo, collector of tales)
- taxes + disallowes (like ashiok to not tutor, narset to not getting more carddraw, statue of the gott-pharao for pay 2 more mana)
at all war of the spark had a lot of good options to controll/ stabilies with planeswalkers xD
absolutely competitively unviable fun fact: The fastest way with sisay to get all legendary colours onto the battlefield is Rhys the redeemed into Tetsuo Umezawa.
So excited to sit down and watch this, Mons!
I hope you enjoyed it.
just in time :D Got my Sisay for EDH a couple days ago
God damn, he did it. Love it!
Personally, Aminatou had become a staple planeswalker in my deck, its Interaction with all your planeswalker, creatures and enchantments with etb effects is crazy. By itself, it's a low cmc legendary permanent that gives Sisay +3/+3. I am a little surprise Mons never mentions this at all.
Love this, Mons :)
I love playing Sisay usually I wait to get my mana base ready before I cast her.
Good content, keep up the good work :)
Thank you I will.
Damn dude I love ur stuff lookin fly too
Awesome video!
Could you make a 2022 Sisay Staples video?
How about some 2022 combos, or a Tier list?
Thanks!
You mean a tier list of all commanders?
Man love this Comander, I only use naya decks annnnd Sisay bcoz Sisay, my combo is Godo helm and attacking with Kaldra 😁
finale here great job :)
Hi Mons. First of all, I wanted to thank you for all of your great videos. I'm a big fan of the channel and this is my favorite deck of yours. I'm thinking about adapting this deck for the Conquest format. But Gaea's Cradle, Dockside, and Treachery are all banned. Do you think this deck is still viable without those cards? Perhaps just using Bloom tender? Also, is Orochi Leafcaller still good without Cradle, just because you're playing a lot of dorks that tap for green? Thanks!
Yes this deck works fine in conquest. And yes you can go for bloom tender faeburrow and selvala as the main combos. And Yes you should drop orochi leafcaller. It will be different but still kinda the same honestly.
Glad you like the videos.
Hi, Mons, love the video and your content! I like the signets to color fix approach. Question tho, if I don’t have the money for a Cradle what would be a good card to replace it with (far as you can replace an effect like Cradle, I know, haha) what do you think abt putting in Urza to try and do similar w blue mana?
I think the jegantha sisay could replace cradle. That combo dosen't need cradle. So Jegnatha is the answer for you I think. Or selvala the mono green one that is also expensiv.
I don't really see what Urza is gong to do. What is your plan here? :)
@@cedhtv It was late and I misremembered that Urza's mana rock ability isn't like an Academy and gives you a flood of blue mana all at once, it's spread out to the individual artifacts themselves to tap for blue.
Now that I'm thinking about it now, if you have a lot of signets out and have the Dramatic-Scepter combo online, that can be a source of infinite blue mana but it probably makes the deck clumsier to have Urza, Scepter, and Dramatic Reversal.
I am watching your analysis of Jegantha now, and will review your deck tech and match of Sisay-Jegantha also! .
Thanks for replying and the quality content, I'm not a cEDH player but your videos are easy to follow and it never hurts to know what's out there!
Very cool Sisay Primer. Hard to believe that something this wild can be classified as cEDH, but I'm on board.
Been working on my own brew and appreciate some of the groundwork you have laid. How do you feel about
Kethis the Hidden Hand for some recursion, Wrenn and Six to buyback lands since 1/3rd of your mana base is fetches,
or the Royal Scions for filter or to buff Sisay?
For some reason I havenät tested Wrenn and six. I should but I keep forgetting the get my hands on that card. I am sure he is going to be really good in the deck.
I don't think the royal scions are going to be that good. There are ebtter alternativs we can use.
The only mana dork i use are : noble, bird and shaman. The rest are enchantment land so woth daretive i can untap them
Adorei suas a forma de apresentar o deck
What a blast of video Mons, i never tried to make a wubrg deck in my life, expansive manabase, any chances we see a budget version? haha
That is hard but should be possible. The mana fixing is important and expensiv.
@@cedhtv Yes basically the thing that is preventing me of making this deck is the price of the fetch lands, they are really expensive here in Brazil and i would need to buy than over some months, not that i haven't spent a lot of money on mtg but is kinda discouraging, the deck i am playing right now it's your Sidisi Overrun build for 2 major reasons i could build it easily with the cards i got home and even some upgrades like(Sylvan Lib. Carpet. among others) and that my LGS(there is only one in my city) does not have a cedh community at all, soo a budget toned down version of tier 1 cedh decks with a good but not optimized gameplan are the perfect decks to me!
@@lucassiqueira6098 You want to have fetch lands in your deck but cannot afford them? Then there is a budget version. The OG fetch lands from Mirage are a fraction of the price. The price you pay is in tempo, as these lands come into play tapped but the set of five allied colored slow fetches are:
Flood Plain ({W}/{U})
Bad River ({U}/{B})
Rocky Tar Pit ({B}/{R})
Mountain Valley ({R}/{G})
Grasslands ({G}/{W})
Hey Mons. Just wanna ask, I think most of what you say is good in the video. Would just like to ask specifically about Blackblade reforged. Mainly as an enabler for sisay for her tutor ability. Is it too much of a casual/slow card for sisay in cEDH? If need be, this helps with the plan C of going voltron and attacking with sisay. Let me know your thoughts as I find this deck really interesting and I may run Sisay in the future. Thank you.
So the Blackblade reforged id goon in making sisay big. But I don't think we need that. If you legendaries are in general low CMC your fine. And if you have a lot of dual-colored legendary your also fine. So in the end I don't think we need that card as it will only help Sisay plan C and make her bigger. I already think the plan C is good and we need to make sure plan A happens.
i would search for urborg with sisay and play cable coffers. also gaeas cradle, boseiju, phyrexian tower, and more
I'm surprise the Blackblade isn't in staples as a universal combo enabler. It cost 2 generic and 3 to equip (to legends) so if you get in early game you basically search for all the legend in your deck. Because the low mana cost you can search for it early (you just need a +1/+0 on Sisay) and than equip it. Yeah, it's 3wubrg, it’s a lot to start a combo, but the versatility should balance it.
Is sisay able to keep up with demonic consultation builds in 2021
I don't play CEDH but I use Invigorate to make Sisay a 6/6 at minimum, for 0 mana, at instant speed (my manabase is more forest focused than the other land types.)
Do you have any 5 color sisay decks that would come in under $1000? I'm quite new to the game, and really love the combo potential with this card, but can't afford the crazy lands and search cards lol
www.moxfield.com/decks/DIc6eyWd90SNUAisWxe2mw I have this one it is 500$.
@@cedhtv you’re an absolute gem, sending 2 lists
Mons what do you think is the best fast combo cedh deck?
Flash hulk. Or dramatic scepter.
Now would you recommend running all of those creatures, even in a superfriends build since slots are quite limited, and if not, what creatures would you swap, in lieu of other legendary permanent types?
I am going to wait with this answer. You see I think there might be a hugh meta change. There are demands to ban cards and this thasas oraclw will have a hugh inpact unless it is banned. So as Sisay is kind of a meta deck. Our interactions are based arround our opponents.
So I don't know the answer. Updates will happen on my tapped out list.
@@cedhtv are you waiting for commander legends to revisit Sisay? I love the deck and am hoping to see an update if you are thinking about it
So now that Theros Beyond Death has dropped, let's see that Superfriend's Primer.
Preferably a Superfriend focus, without, crap like Labman win, etc. Jace is fine, but a true Superfriend purist list. What does & doesn't make the cut. What creatures to still run, etc.
Here it is. Finally. *opening a can of some well known nordic beer and enjoying*
I hope you like it. I really do. There where a lot of things I wanted to say but I don't like making movie long videos.
I really liked it. And from now on among the content creators I watch you are for me what spicy8rack is for flavor. The mastermind of your theme of choice: Analytics. I have to cope with the fact that you still have more to say about Sisay!
It's such a shame that I am in such an enormous lack of time for hobbies. I can't wait to brew with your recepies and collect experience in competativ gameplans.
Well all my good ideas on Sisay like Oathes and Aminatou + God Bolas, underrated Teferi's oath, Alesha and Citadel... they all already came up in your videos. BUT (and there really is a great but) due to may lack of time for playing I had no chance to figure out how good these are!
So you really encouraged me to go on with my Sisay deck, sharpen its strategies, looking for duds and traps I ran into, go out and test and learn about it. Perpaps I imagened or considered my own Sisay deck weaker than i thougt.
I almost never had a good time when I went out to play ar my local game store, because, well you know I brew even more casual an unfocused than the common EDH Player. I don't really like winning by infect of combo. But that was 90% of how I lost games at my lgs. But Sisay really can be strong, divers and utilizing. I love five colored Decks and I love Legendaries (actually that was my reason to staet playing edh). So Sisay is the perfect deck to become a stronger player. And beeing guided and tought by you is the best help I could ever get. It made me like cEDH more than optimized or focused play.
And I have to tell that the part i most enjoyed was the section about manafixing. I still didn't find time to try that... but the elves... thats so nostalgic to me. It was a manabase of an old deck of mine. You absolutely got me with that.
Aaand sorry for that wall of text. ^^' Please keep on that phenomenal work! My I send you my Sisay to sign it? ;)
Watching this in August 2022, Mons.
Any chance of a refresh of this Sisay primer/overview video?
I have made a lot of update videos here and there. New decks techs and new combo tricks. But they are all in different videos. You wanna see a new mega long sisay video?
@@cedhtv absolutely! Would be interesting to see what your thoughts are now on the various elements. mana fixing and staples, for example.
@@cedhtv absolutely! Would be interesting to see what your thoughts are now on the various elements. mana fixing and staples, for example.
I have been playing Sisay for a while and i can state that it is probably one of the funniest and interactive deck i have ever played! I noticed that one of the most annoying card i have to face is cyclonic rift, since it puts this deck in a really behind spot, bouncing everything, so the only answer i can have to it is to run a bunch of counterpells but not too much, just the mana cheapest and efficient ones. What do you think about that? because i want to fix my deck and im looking for some opinion!:)
Moreover, loved the video
I am happy it got approved :)
I think that main question is which is a better commander option between Sisay and Kenrith
I like this question as well
Kenrith is stronger, but Sisay is more fun
First I will ask my question then explain me.
There is a two card combo I by chance have been using that I would love to hear thoughts to improve!
**Combo-"Teferi's Puzzle Box" and "Narset, Partner of Veils"
This combo completely shuts down opponent's hand. When those two cards are on the battlefield, my opponents focus on getting rid of Narset. But after that they only would get one draw and it takes 2 or 3 turns for them to build up a hand again. All giving Sisay time to win in any way.
My question is how can i get Teferi's Puzzle box faster to my hand or field besides the main tutors like demonic tutor? Sisay can easily tutor Narset. Also, when my opponent gets rid of narset, maybe find an easier way to get her back on the field?
Thanks, AJ
It is a sweet thing if you have the box in your hand. Currently Sisay has gotten faster and faster and can push out combo wins from smaller and smaller boardstate. So the cute value grind power isen't equally strong anymore. I am not saying that the box and narset is bad. In fact it is quite strong. For exanmple I have been thinking abouyt playing possibility storm and lavinia! I mean that shuts down close to everything your opponents wanna do.
cEDH TV you mean Lavinia, renegade? And explain the storm?
How do you decide if you're gonna share a card across multiple decks, or buy one for each?
I'd assume you don't own tons of the same moxes, or food chains, etc. But how do you decide if it's worth the investment?
EDIT: just finished the vid. Thanks for the thanks! I'm glad you like it!! ❤❤
I only have 1 card of each and I only have one deck at the time. I take it apart put all cards inside binders. Build a new deck. All cards are sleeved the same. I like this system.
@@cedhtv hmm, that's interesting.
Then you keep your other cards in a binder for easy access?
I build Foodchain Niv Mizzet now i wanna Switch to Sisay.
I Love also toolboxing.
FC Niv was replaced by First Sliver. Niv is still fun but the meta has shifted. At least Sisay is adaptive to metas.
She really is. Thats a good point. It's really easy to tweek her depending on your opponents.
Sisay is cool but not an outlet for FoodChain, not unplayable but definetly worse than other fc commander
@@Guidothirteen I think the op is switching the whole deck kot just the FC commander.
Cascading Cataracts ? Or is it too slow ?
It is a bit to slow. Signets dose it better and filiter lands. I don't like the part we tap for 6 but gain 5.
@@cedhtv i guess it is better in some kind of golos deck since he can fetch for it and most likely activate the next turn
she will soon got a new staple :3 kunoros, hound of athreos so exited to be able to respond to reanimations anafenza only work at the moment they are put into graveyards so i think both are still staples and respond to different things
also tymna will love him if the mana cost isn't too much of a problem, he's a realy good attacker and regain life on his own
that video is coming quite sooon.
What do yall think about korvald protean hulk finding timur sabertooth and dockside extortionist infinite mana draw your deck?
I like it. I think it is totally legit.
Isn’t oath of Kaya a bit better than oath of Chandra ?
It cost 3 mana. Sisay only needs to be a 3/3 to find chandra. While a 4/4 for kaya. I actually play Kaya too from time to time.
cEDH TV thanks, as I am more on the Bolas Citadel side of sisay, I found Kaya’s a bit more useful in surviving and even growing up sisay as it is 2 colors while chandra’s is only one
How dated is this video now? I would love a follow up video
czcams.com/video/Ov9H8SgnkFQ/video.html I think this is my most updated sisay. However a new card came arround the corner so now I am going to take a pause on sisay untill I have seen and understoon opposition agent a bit more.
@@cedhtv don’t be scared, lols. Jk, jk, agent does look like a beating tbh
