    This isn't an example of the "We're all doomed" scenario screamed at us by climate change zealots it's an example of councils and water/sewage companies welching on their responsibilities to clean and maintain the drains and dredge rivers and a good example of what happens when you build on flood plains and sell off reservoirs for housing. If the water had somewhere to go we wouldn't be having all this flooding.

      Under this railway bridge has always flooded in heavy rain, if you look carefully at the video on the right hand side you will see a black and white sign clearly showing the depth of water as at least 3 feet. It’s the idiots behind the wheel that cause the problem . TURN ROUND AND FIND ANOTHER WAY, BECAUSE THERE IS ONE.

  • @thecurrantbun

    Watched many clips on cars attempting to drive through 3 feet of water. Little do people know that the air intake is very low to the ground and has just sucked up a lot of water, through a paper air filter and all sucked into the engine, which then stops due to hydrostatic lock and wet electrics. Unfortunately, a high percentage are BMW drivers, who must seemingly think that they’re indestructible. Loved the bus opening and a ton of water runs out.

    • @bjoernaltmann

    • @michaeld5888
      @michaeld5888 Před 6 měsíci +3

      @@thecurrantbun My car from the VW group has open flanges down the side of the radiator which looks as though there is some attempt to pre-heat the input air even though the actual intake is high. I would be wary of putting any water through the lower scoop at speed as it could easily wash up the flanges. The manual says clearly to avoid water ingress: determine the water depth which must not exceed the lower beam; drive at maximum walking speed otherwise a wave may build up; never stop in water, not to drive backwards and never stop the engine.
      I suppose once the engine stops and the muddy water flows in it is scratch one catalytic converter in addition to the bent/broken con rods and valves.
      I would think any warranty claim would easily be dismissed and then there is the temptation to lie to insurers which if found out would have serious consequences. Amazing how with all the hardship in the country there are still people who can so casually throw away these expensive cars to try and save a bit of time.

    I read that Land Rovers have the air intake in the top of the wheel arch above the internal plastic splash guard. So 2.5 feet deep water shouldn't be a problem, for a Land Rover. But driving through water too fast in any car, SUV or 4x4, can rip plastics and even front number plates off.

      Back in the old days, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Defender and Discovery all have air intake on the side so water can go straight through the grill, very few non Land Rover cars have this, however in the new 2023 LR lineup, only the Defender has this, the latest Range Rovers don’t but rumour has it that it’s now inside the pillars, how true this is, I have no idea. But in terms of old wheel arch intake, only new Defenders have this which is a shame such a brilliant creation is being phased out. Lorries used to have their intake above the cab but not anymore, however buses still have a high air intake (on the upper deck at the rear) if you want a vehicle to go though deep water in 🤣🤣

    I saw the flooding through there last week (not as deep) and I sat in my van at 6 30 am thinking should I risk it just under a foot and I took it slow and srlteady. Never would I attempt this! I had to turn back and go home in my village of hampden park yesterday! Never seen the roads this bad.

      A "professional " driver going into a puddle that deep without seeing if any of the sewer-cover are gone should be re leaved from duties. If you can't spot a hazard while looking at it, you shouldn't be driving a bus full of passengers.

    The driver is very inexperienced, this bus has ferry lift and the water never went over the wheel arches. The driver should have lifted the bus enter slow and it would perfectly fine. The driver is so inexperienced that doesn’t know how to turn off the assault alarm had to call the garage.

    • @WetLettuce-kc2qm
      @WetLettuce-kc2qm Před 6 měsíci +2

      Better than most actually. The batteries are completely sealed & there are no air intakes or exhausts for water to get in. EVs can't hydrolock because they don't have a combustion engine and the door seals on something like a Tesla are water tight. I don't like EVs but I have to admit they're far better through water than most ICE cars.

    Apart from the last 2, most of the drivers here seem to drive through floods a lot better than the ones at Rufford. They don't go in gunning the engine but stop revving when they hit the water, let momentum take them through the ford, then drive out, is that right?
