I love how friendly this competition is, no insults just men enjoying the badassery of weapons.
Blacksmiths are very patient and honest people. Ask a blacksmith his opinion he will be as kind about it as possible but he will tell you the honest truth
Thy _ 404 who do you finck is going to win
It's called respect among professionals.
It's called respect for each other
Ya, its one of the best parts of the show. Its great the directors and such dont force needless rivalry and hostility between the contestants just to create needless drama for views / ratings.
‘For this next test, we’ll be slicing into this concrete sidewalk. Let’s see how your blades hold up....’
Remember, it's not about what your sword does to the sidewalk, but what the sidewalk does to your sword.
@@lesuiken6057 hahaha
Well, a messer would hit bone, mail, wooden shields, helmets, etc. even when it was not intended for armor bashing, but such things happen in the heat of combat. Thus, being able to withstand a few hits against a log is a sign of quality. However, this doesn´t really transfer to lighter blades like a rapier, or Xian (the modern version, not the military version).
It will kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiill!
hi you mean it will keeeeeeel
I swear he gets more excited every time he says they will kill
It's "keel"
"WITH EACH KEEL I GROW STRONGER"
@@jankocollyer6037 What he actually says is "it will KEAL." This acronym, which Marcaida came up with himself, stands for "Keep Everyone Alive." Marcaida knows there are kids watching. He wants them to know that the violent weaponry they're being marketed actually saves lives.

NeuberNocker yeah ikr😅😅😅
I like how John even stated that Jeff's victory was deserved, graceful in defeat. He is a real champ.
it's always like that. Great comradery between the contestants
The guy who does the strength test looks like a monopoly character
Loooool
Do not pass go, do not collect $200!
Don’t say that he will keel you 😂
Your mean the monopoly man
Rich Uncle Penny bags, colonel Sanders and the Lorax...
So crazy how everyone is so humble in defeat as well as in victory. Awesome competitors
We both gave it our all and I went up there hoping not to be the first to leave the set and ended up being the last I far exceeded my expectations.
Both guys turned in beautiful pieces. There may be one person leaving with the big dollar cheque but there’s were no losers here in my book.
Both clearly talented at their craft
the two winners
Hamza Amir you watch it and therefore support it soooo..
Hamza Amir Woah there. It’s not like the animal is live. And besides they said that a lot of the time they still use the carcasses afterwards.
Hamza Amir that was just racist absolutely no need. I don’t make up the tests the judges put the weapons through I just merely respect the craftsmanship. Take your hate else where
That moment when ur knife broke but still won the competition 😂😂
Yea every other competitor fromtheshow watching that got the boot for a catastrophic failure must be confused.
Who needs the knife with a messer like that?
@@dailydumpnews4510 it was just the very tip of the knife, that's not a catastrophic failure
This was one of the closest ive seen
@@GiskardRevenlov IMO that would be a critical failure because it is used mainly as a stabbing weapon. But then again I am not an expert.
Best participsnt to lose in this show i have seen so far... wise words he spoke
I agree. John is a helluva guy and it was an honor to meet him. All three of the other guys were top class people.

One day they are going to unveil an atom bomb as "the iconic weapon from history".
Iconic for all the wrong reasons
I laughed more than I should :D ahahha
But will it keel?
Doug presses the button....the bomb drops and you see an ungodly flash. The explosion is defeaning, the only thing you hear besides it, is the millions of screams suddenly being silenced. Millions of lives are lost. You look on in horror...Doug smiles...."it will keeeeal"
"I got my Uranium isotope working in the centrifuge, then I realized I used the wrong amount of plutonium."
dog:” hey why do i see smoke”
john: oh i’m just making swords
dog: “feed me “
correction dear sir my dogs name is gunner and he will KEEL
I read that as "Doug" and was confused for a second but then I just accepted it
"In the next test we are going to throw the blade under tank tracks and see how it holds up"
That wouldn´t be a hard test actually, modern tanks spread their weight out very well, even heavy tanks like the abrams have a ground pressure of around 16psi, that is about the same as an adult human, lighter tanks and apcs have ground pressure as low as 6psi, so the would take about the same damage as if you were stepping on it.
During my time in the military, it was a sort of test of courage to let a tank roll over your arm (although not an MBT but a Marder AFV with very low ground pressure), felt about as bad as someone quite heavy sitting on your arm.
@@xyxxanx9810 So you would let one run your leg over because it is only 16psi?
No, that would be a bit much, about 8 psi and only the arm, even if the groundpressure is low, if you´d put something as thick as a leg or an entire body under a tanks tracks, the suspension couldn´t give enough and you´d experience a lot more pressure, as long as it´s something relatively thin, it wouldn´t get damaged by a tank rolling over it.
@@xyxxanx9810 ?!?!?!?!?!

Beautiful works by both of these guys. Respect to their craft
The values displayed in this show are really needed today. Lots of respect and accepting challenges and defeats.
how each and every episode has soo much of sportsmanship and zero drama
The losers final words were so honourable and gracious, what a gentleman, so lovely to hear, made my day!💯
Thank you. It came from my heart and as I was shaking the judge's hands before I made my walk off the set I thanked them all for what I felt then and now as the correct decision.
When he said "Validated" after being asked how he feels. That just touched my heart, so sweet!
he originally said something like i did this for my dad or something like that i know the guy
This is the best episode, the guys were sweet and determined and I was actually on the edge of my seat towards the end

Doug is a karambit guy
Doug is an all bladed weapons guy haha

I love how respectful the contests are toward each other in this show. Normally I hear a 'the judges got it wrong. I don't deserve to go home..." But in this show I have yet to hear such comments. In general the comments are "The judges made the right call. The other's blade was done beautifully. I had an amazing time."
Because they are mature lol
Wait, season 6? Have I been living under a rock? this might the one of the manliest shows I've ever seen

I agree! My shop dog. He normally stays in the shop with me and was not real happy that he had to stay inside!
Patiently waiting for the lightsaber on this show. At least it wouldn’t be forward heavy...
Same dude buy judging from the hacksmith's attempts we'll be waiting a whilr
what i love about these old guys is that they know they have limited time, so they worked accordingly. (ie no damascus)
i love how every contestant that loses is so humble and man enough to take an L and wish the opponent the best... also came for the "it will keel"
"Messer" means knife in german, and "bei knife" (should be Beimesser) means side knife or accompanying knife.
The big one is not a Messer, its a großes Messer or Großmesser meaning "great knife".
The small one: A Beimesser is a knife that shares a double scabbard with the bigger weapon its accompanying. If not its just a Messer even if used to accompany a bigger weapon.
Right wording, wrong explanation. It is in fact a messer, but messers are divided into two types: Lange Messer (AKA Großes Messer and what is shown in the video) and Kriegsmessers
I've heard the history of these weapons. Allegedly, during the religious wars in Germany, they demanded swords. But the only forge under the guild's rules had the right to bed only knives. That is, one-way sharpening blades. IVot they started bed knives three to four feet long.
Great episode! Except for one part.
The Knife part of the Strength test was faulty.
When they brought the knives into the wood, the first one was brought into an area were the wood had been cut just above, causing the fibers to weaken considerably.
While the second knife was brought into an area where the fibers were fine, making a massive difference in the about of pressure put on the knife.
So faulty test caused by the judge.
Doug: You're weapon is a bit forward-heavy
Me: uh-oh.
I think every episode he adds another e to “keel”
No one notice his watch undoing itself when he stabbed the knife into the table? 😂😂👌🏽
“For the next test we will smash your sword in between two lava rocks, but remember it’s not about what your sword does to the rock, it’s about what the rock does to your sword “
If your from my state I’m glad you won the competition
Love the sportsmanship between competitors on this show.
John and Jeff honestly feel like brothers from the way they were both so chill with everything.
Even if they were making staplers, I'll bet he'd say, "your stapler will keel".
Both these guys have great sportsmanship
Dude at the end was so humble I had to comment. What a nice fello props to you sir💯
"It gon be challengin" 😂

I can tell it's so well balanced just watching people hold it.
Thank you! I was more proud of that than anything! I used a digital scale to weight every single piece and then adjust until it felt light in the hand. Even my choice of handle material ironwood) was chosen because it is a few ounces heavier than most woods. They recommended a weight of @ 2 lbs, 9 ounces. I came in at 2 lbs, 9.4 ounces. :)
If they say it's too heavy, you're basically done for.
