Should try to forged "mandau" from borneo island, it's kind of unic sword
I WOULD BREAK MYSELF TO SWING THESE SWORDS. PLEASE HIRE ME AS WARRIOR JUDGE, I WILL BREAK MOST OF THEM.
At least hire a super strong warrior to swing these blades. Judges always injured or to weak, best blades and they always says to heavy. That is because they city folk and weak.
Why dont you upload whole episodes??
Ok I decided that if I compete on Forged In Fire and win that not only will I split the money with my other 3 competitors but when show’s over I’m gonna take my weapon home if it’s okay.
Judges: The sword is a little heav--
Me: He's going to lose.
Same.
Feel like all the judges need to hit the gym more.
renren225 no. Swords should be light. Especially single handed swords. They should be very light and fast.
Exactly! The kill test and the sharpness test here both also show why a well balanced blade is better!
It's interesting...because sometimes a weapon being heavy is advantageous, but in this show they seem quite obsessed with weight
*Me who's watched 8 episodes so far and knows nothing about forging*
"Nicely done heat treat, now check for warping"
Basically
Also ebony wood bad
Damascus is a must but also breaks the most
@@caelandenning2648 Depends on the metals and the temperatures of heat-treatment. If you put tool steel with stainless it's likely to be a DISASTER
This is me just screaming at my phone saying " ITS NOT THE RIGHT COLOUR"
Yes this is how we learn to forge to eventually go on and win
History Channel:
*Let's just delete video's and upload them again, they'll think it's a new video lmao*
So I'm not the only one who thought about it
I'm not complaining though
I swear I saw this before lol
Tru
yeah
Please also add History of the weapon, we won't mind a 20 second historical segment neither History channel
they have those in the program iirc, they probably just include the flashy parts in free youtube videos to get more attention and to make an advert for the show
@@SirKakalaCh they do, but they're like 6 seconds. I wish we could have maybe 3 minutes
@@AllThingsFascinate 3 mins of history in History Channel? Dude are you out of your mind?
@@AllThingsFascinate
3 mins is way too long. We only need a quick presentation like 20 sec.
To the contrary... I look forward to those intros.
Dave Baker makes all the historical weapons that Wil reveals. That's quite cool actually
He made all the weapons for the series deadliest warrior also
@@jamescoull7402 I didn't know that
Thank you I wondered where they came from. Is he a master blade smith? It would be very interesting if they tested his along side of there's.
@@boydrid they all are. Except Doug. He's just one of the worlds best blade experts (he might forge too but I wouldn't call a master bladesmith)
Laa0fa I thought Wil and Doug were both non masters and were just there for their weapons expertise?
I love that a lot of these guys seem like they're just hobbyists. They step up to the plate to compete at an elite level, some of whom have never made swords, minimal time to build, and even when they break (which happens, it's art afterall) they've still all made gorgeous pieces. Taking shop class out of high-school is the biggest wound American education ever suffered. It shouldn't even be an elective. Every sophomore or junior should spend a whole year making things.
The competitors are gracious with each other, you can tell Doug is having a blast cutting pigs in half. 10/10 this show is underrated.
Finally! Two bladesmiths that actually make smart choices with their metals, instead of using Damascus because it looks good or to be ‘different’.
Kind of ironic how Damascus has been used so many times that not opting for it becomes notable.
I was the 100th like
I fully agree, now don't get me wrong Damascus is not a bad choice, but it's not the best choice either unless you know what you're doing, most people on this show who try that do not and suffer the consequences. So it's a breath of fresh air to see 2 smiths who realize this.
Damascus is fine when you have the time to allow it to anneal properly and cool between welds, which the contestants here do not heave.
@@grayemerald5159 i think because some of them know how to do it well enough. but yea that extra work probably what lost moany of them their challenges.
France: Charlemagne Joyeuse
Merica: Charlieman Juice
Whatever.

@@PlannedObsolescence he is so right😂
😂 yes love this haha

"Its getting long, heavy and hard to hold..."
Yeah thats what she said.
So, you're into scat.
That can't be possible lol 😂
but she didn't say *IT WILL KEEL*
I searched for that comment 😂
@@arjaylegaspi9055 She did when mine impaled her.
just here to have a daily dose of "it will KEEEEEL"
Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ah, Charlemagne's Joyeuse, "the sword that conquered Europe".
Forged by the blacksmith Galas, which took him 3 years to finish.
To be fair, he didn't have a belt grinder.
There is one very nice documentary on CZcams regarding the creation of true wootz steel. The process is very involved, time consuming and still somewhat unpredictable.
4 days but "IT WILLLL KEEEAAALLLLL" .....
I can't imagine doing something for three years. Every day just doing a little bit most days it might not even see a difference.
@@philipyates3194 Or a power hammer. Or global trade and industrialization providing already refined materials.
As a French guy, the way they said "Jooyooz" instead of "Joyeuse" maid me laugh out load!
Load lmao
I had to listen to him say it again a couple times 'cause it just sounded so silly to me!
I just croaked like a frog.
France doesn’t exist
It's probably as bad as the pronunciation of landsknecht, will says it like landsschneck which means land snail.
Sounds very silly
When you hear “your blade is heavy” you better pray that your opponents blade snaps on the strength test cos you’re going home
Or that it is equally mismade... like the handle is too small
You know you're in trouble when the test guy start saying "what i like about your sword" to your opponent while your sword's comment was "Let's talk about youe sword here"
“I tried to fish it out, but unfortunately I didn’t catch anything.” 😆
I also love how the sandbags don't have to be swinging bit Doug just wants to have fun
I always love these finalists where they both make incredible weapons and the judges have to get really specific to make an assessment. Two really incredible swords
It’s great isn’t it?
When Peyton's blade cut through the pig, I knew he was gonna win
Didn't we already seen this before
Tim Galzol yes, yes we did
Oh ok
Thx
I seent it with my own eyes.
Yee dawg kno wut I sayin we seen this
Also, Payton's sword when he was done profiling it at 1:40 was gorgeous
0:51, I can relate
💀
lol dude
After no nut november, mind would be like that.
I relate with 1:33
9:31 I can relate
I always make my predictions based on who's is lighter during the kill test. They win 95% of the time🤷
I’m just here for the “itll keel”
I gotta point this out as a HEMA nerd, sorry.
Shields were (almost) never made of metal. heater shields, the style we see in the video, and shields as a whole were usually made of wood, rawhide or some combination of the two (unless they were small like the buckler, or used for a specific purpose like the rotella). this was a) to keep weight and cost down and b) to ensure an enemy's blade would get stuck and give you control over the weapon.
the idea of a metal heater shield likely stems from the fact that *sometimes,* very rarely, they would have a thin sheet of steel on the back in order to fortify them for cavalry use and such. however, again, this was very uncommon, and you certainly never saw shields that are all metal like the one in the video.
I say these things because a wood shield would have not only been more accurate, it would have been a more interesting test. you could test the durability of the edge against the steel helm, then test the durability of the blade's body against the shield. this is because when a sword enters wood (or any material), and the edge alignment isn't robotically precise and perfect, it twists and flexes with the force of the strike. a good blade will spring back to shape, while a bad one will suffer warps.
otherwise good episode tho
I'm bingeing on this like anything. Since last 2 days I've seen almost 70-80 episodes.
Still waiting for that lofi version of Doug saying "Keeal"
Appreciate the clips but I rly like the informative clips which explain the different blades, shapes & process. I hope to see more of it on YT & or the show in general.
IT WEEEL KEEEEAALLLL...
I only watch this😂
04:57 i came for this
6:21 "I think I just peed a little" lmao
Why i came here
watching making swords:5%
watching the blade tests:5%
IT WILL KeeL:90%
In Forged in Fire, they don't say "You lose", they say "It's a little heavy" and I think it's beautiful.
Or "It has some heft to it"
The thing about forge in fire is that everybody know who's gonna lose
"This is not about what you're swords are gonna do to the targets, but about what the targets are gonna do to the swords."
5:14 “like ur cut g”
Now I'm a meat eater, but I always kinda sad laughed when I see a pig strung up just to be a sword bag.
Sure hope that meat is used in a smoker or something
There's a Q&A video with Dave Baker, he said that when they cut up animals, they get donated to a Wolf sanctuary.
Fax
Yeah, they're donated to a wolf sanctuary
If I had been the looser on that test, I would have asked Payton if I could hold his sword for a moment. ….. just so I could get the feel of how my next sword was supposed to feel.
5:48
He knew by seeing him walk up the strength test was up😂
It would be much more interesting to know more about the background of all these historical weapons.
This has been uploaded before I watched it a few months ago
"apparently I've never made a sword before"
Well apparently you won lol.
Doug: " I can do this all day" 😄
6:20
It's okay, I probably would too
😂
As a French XD the "Joyeuse" isn't pronounced correctly but they feel so proud to say the french word XD they just accentuate way too much the u and don't pay attention that the EU is a sound of his own
What's the correct pronunciation? Just curious :)
make an iconic, beautiful, historical broadsword in 4 days, then let some judges try to break them. Sounds like a great episode!
“It’s getting long and heavy and hard to hold!”
On this one they had to be artists as well as super blacksmiths.. Beautiful work my friends.
For me, until now, the best episode of al FiF!
"Its heavy. Please exit the forge"
That's what she said long heavy and hard to hold
Charlemagne is my ancestor.
Honestly the sounds of the Cicadas and locusts is one of my favorite sounds. If you catch the 2 seconds, you catch it. Reminds me of visiting my grandpa in Arkansas every summer. With his passing a handful of years back, this sound brings back all the memories.
Also, anyone hear mitches blade hit the ground on the third test?
This episode was uploaded before, we want new Forged in Fire content :(
Since I am new subscriber to the channel, so it's a new episode for me type of viewers.
Yeah it was reusing content now
They can't film a new episode due to the covid 19 bro.
She's straight. Aw that's freakin awesome.
*reveal sword*
-what a happy little blade
3:01 mans literally bent that blade with his hands
One of the requirements for this weapon I was thinking would be the crossguard, handle and pommel would have to be ornate like the original design.
They never care for visual design elements unfortunately
@@leonardocucchiara4782 visual design only matters when both blades perform equally in the tests.
There were some tasks, especially in final stages, when they asked specifically to comply rules for design.
But in the end, it is weapon, so design is less practical than usability and comfort
And now for my perfect french pronunciation, charlemagne's JOY OOSE.
Do you mean you have learnt how to pronouce "Joyeuse" well by watching this video ?
If the answer is "yes", I'm sorry to tell you that the name of this sword is very badly pronouced here. In modern French, far closer to the authentic pronounciation than the Anglo-saxon way, it souds like 'Joaieuz' ( with the j pronouced like in "juice" for example, but without the little "d sound" ; the o like in "core", the a like the 'ea' in "heart", the i like the y in "carpentry", the eu like the 'u' in "hurt", and finally the z like in "zombie" ).
And Charlemagne is also badly pronouced, but at least it is recognable for a French-speaking person.
@@Hobbit_libertaire I was being facetious.
The only French I know is "we surrender!" .
I cant stress it enough its always the weight the handle and the balance so come on guys. If its your first or hundredth sword or knife it should always have these properties.
0:52 that's what she said lol
Competitors: Goes to win a forging tournament

“It’s getting long, heavy, and hard to hold;)... just think about that for a second😂
A butter knife will Keel... both swords are awesome.
If they say your weapon is heavy, and the other one doesn't break you've already lost.
Paytons blade was sooooo clean
Beautiful sword
The dreaded H word. Heavy has killed more blades than the strength tests at this point.
French people: Charlemagne Joyeuse
American people: Cherloumain jouyuse
Germans: Karl der Große Freudvoll since well, france can try to do what they want - but pssst Karl was Germanic ;)
@@SuperVistaprint why tf you talk about Karl Who's Karl große
SuperVistaprint
You do realize that Francs are closer to Dutch than Germans right? So at this point it's more common history than any kind of nationalism.
@@elendil6144 it's kind of pointless to associate ancient populations with modern ones. Charlemagne was a Franc, wich is a germanic people that migrated trough at least part of the netherlands (not german, germanic), and Francs are ancestors of the French, the group wich lend t's name to the country, so Charlemagne was a germanic ancestor to french people. So everybody is right and wrong and it doesn't matter.
Kazad That's my point
Include the Weapons history PLEASE!!!
Like so they can see because I’m sick of knowing nothing about the weapon
Carcass cut is interesting, just like in every episode.
Armoured segment is also looking good, as that is relevant to the swords and worth repeat in every coming competition.
Love the way they pronounce joyeuse...
"I think i just peed" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You can see Joyeuse at the Louvres museum in Paris.
But in fact, it is a kind of replica of Charlemagne's sword created with different parts and later adjustments which dated from the Xth to the XIIIth century (Charlemagne died in 814). This sword was used during the coronation of the king of France from probably Philippe Auguste (1179) to Charles X (1825), including Napoléon's coronation.
Calling it Joyeuse, as Charlemagne's sword, was a way to show the continuity between the Carolingian dynasty and the Capetian dynasty...
I love this show
Long heavy and hard to handle was my nickname in high school
im at 6:43, the dude said, it's heavy, I bet that sword loses.
Charlemagne's HAMBURGER..!
That french accent LOOOL
I'm in love with Marcaida yeyeyeey
Why do they always do the sharpness tests after f'ing up the weapons during the durability tests?
It’s to see if the weapon still holds up after going through some stuff
The sword goes through many battles not just 1 my friend.
Mr. Marcada needs to be in the next expendables movie
0:52
That's what she said.
These guys must have some epic bbq's after each episode ....
“It will keel”
Are the full episodes available on hulu or netflix?
Im from indonesia and i love forged in fire
You don't have to say where do you from dude
@@alexisparchet799 does anyone forbid about that ?
when they said 'it was heavy' i already knew 😂
“Long, heavy, and hard to hold”
Why am i watching this late at night
Just give it a longer handle and it will be a beastly long sword. The dents it left in that armor just imagine using two hands.
And yes I know it was most likely cheap armor that they used.
The judges should create a medival movie.
I wonder if they all sit around and have a nice Hog Roast at the end of the show! Delicious!
Please surrender your blade
NEVER
proceeds to kill everyone in the room
Its a French blade.. Its used to surrendering.
This sword looks like that one Lego kingdom sword (if you know you kniw)
Yes! I loved Lego Kingdom
Boeeen kyaat dis guudluck best nose block ever 😂😂😂😂
