Thanks for watching! - Jak na to + styl
Don't listen to them. It's refreshing seeing a watch video w/o gloves. It's a freaking watch review. Not surgery! Great review. Thanks.
I'm so glad he's mentioned that the thickness is not an issue because it's not. So many CZcamsrs point out it's "thickness" when it really isn't all that thick on the wrist. The watch wears so well. I feel like they can't find anything to critique so they've all jumped on the bandwagon of regurgitating the same thing. You never hear then say how a Speedy wears like a UFO dish on the wrist. Excellent video btw; imo the BB is pound for pound the greatest value in the luxury watch industry.
Agree 100%. The bb58 hype gotta stop man..
fabulous review, thank you! very clear and great camera work.
Thanks for the video. Probably the highest quality filming I’ve seen, and I watch them all.
just got this on the leather strap. I’m 6’4 with 7”5 wrist and this is perfect, not too thick at all. I tried on the 58 and felt it was a bit too small for me. I also prefer the silver on the bezel on this.
Excellent review for the Tudor Black Bay. Thank you
The watch is not big at all, some people just have whimsy girl wrists that’s all
Joseph Schuhrej 😆😎
Yeah tell me about it. I got a 43 mm Navitimer, 14.6 mm thickness. Looks good on my 7.5 inch wrists.
7.5" wrists, agreed
Regards from England 👍🏴
🤣Agree
Perfect review. Such a beautiful watch. I own a Tudor Black Bay GMT since last Friday and I love it. Thumbs up for Tudor. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Nacho
Great review, you did a good job showing us the watch (mine is arriving tomorrow :0)
Thanks for the review , the Tudor 58 kept popping up on the internet and loved the look , I was actually looking at buying a omega seamaster pro ( used to own a older model) but I found it too blingy , tried the 58 but found it too small on my 71/2 inch wrist but this one was perfect, still haven’t bought it yet but will do soon it’s a 50 th birthday present to myself , also love vintage watches so this will fit in really well
Beautiful watch, pretty much perfect everyday timepiece!
Agreed, thanks for checking in Mike!
Great review, very helpful. I'm getting mine tomorrow.
Thanks, enjoy it!
Just got mine. Absolutely beautiful. Love the chunky masculine look.
Just a lovely watch, great review, thank you
Regards from England 👍🏴
Thanks Andrew, cheers.
Perfect watch . Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching and agreed! It gets the majority of my wrist time.
Another great video!! Keep up the great work, Mike!! :)
Thank you!
Just Watch you are always welcome!!
Great review. Fits you perfectly. How many links did you have removed? Can you remember? Subscribed
Great review, thank you! Planning to buy this. How do you think a nice brown aged leather strap would go with it? Looking at the brown distressed strap that comes with the steel and gold model. To be able to switch it up.
Great video. Ordered mine last week and I'm counting down the hours.
I'm sure you will love it!
Picked up the blue version this week, and it's my first "luxury" piece. I'm one of the rare wearers that actually appreciates the size and thickness because I have an 8.1-8.2 inch wrist so the proportion is no issue for me. I might wear a shirt with snug cuffs like once a year, and if I'm indoors my sleeves are rolled up because I'm always hot.
The in-house movement is a plus in my mind as well. I plan to keep this watch for a long time (at least 20 years), and that power reserve and accuracy is fantastic.
Anyway, I was quite nervous spending this much on a watch. I didn't go in debt or anything, but it was still a significant decision in my life. Despite that, I'm glad I picked it up. It feels like a nice accomplishment to be able to do this and enjoy it.
I have ordered the ColeReb Venezia Ocher strap for it because I think the tan on blue contrast is going to be striking. Just hoping i can incorporate the clasp with that strap.
Thanks for the video.
Hi Ben, thanks for the comment and congratulations on the purchase, it's a great watch!
Yeah that's a killer piece tried one on last month and was blown away.gonna get me one.it's 😎
You will love it, I'm sure!
Pretty good watch. I went into a Tudor AD looking for a Pelagos and unfortunately they didn't have any. The AD had a two tone GMT black bay, absolutely stunning, but I wasn't sold on the two tone, they gave me a black bb58 in leather to try and I loved it, but it looked dainty and small. They didn't have the 41mm to try. Walked into another AD and they had it in stock, tried it, loved it, bought it.
I would still have loved to find the Pelagos LHD but a bit of wishful thinking these days.
I think the 41mm bb in black looks so much nicer in person than on videos/pictures.
Beautiful watch! Enjoy! I recently bought the BB58 in the same colours. Still in love with it! One quick question.. Why you opening the clasp like this (hard way) instead of just open it by grabbing from the side and pull? Does it harm the clasp?🤔 That's how i do it because i bite my nails and don't have any. 😆
I bought this same black bay one month ago. I can't stop wearing it. I really like it more than the sub. The sub is better quality, it has the rolex status in the society, but the bb is just cooler and looks retro.
Same, I wear the BB more than any other watch, almost exclusively lately! Thanks for checking in!
Nice one Mike!
Thanks Mark!
I have a 8 inch wrist, this watch looks like a good fit for me.
The only gripe I have and it's just personal preference, is the aluminum bezel. If it was ceramic even matte ceramic like on the pelagos I would buy it instantly. I know it's vintage inspired but I would like a ceramic bezel. Other than that...gorgeous watch
Great video Mike! I absolutely love the accuracy of the MT5602! Hoping for similar values on the MT5402. I guess only time will tell... ;D
In what resting position do you keep your watch at night? Flat dial facing up?
Thanks Jules! I keep it dial up, it's not perfectly level though, tilted up about 5-10 degrees from level (12 o'clock side high) the bracelet won't let it sit flat.
Ive owned a few luxury watches and im looking at this model but may I ask is the weak link the erm "link" itself....? where the lugs meet the strap? how sturdy is this (pins?) thank you
Is your rotor audible when you move your watch around? I've tried to research it to see if other people are having the same noise. The rotor is louder than all my other watches and sounds like a subtle rubbing noise. I hear it could just be because there are ceramic bearings inside.
It's my everyday watch and I love it. The quality is fantastic. The bezel action and crown operation are sublime. Can’t wait to see a comparison with your Submariner. The Rolex is probably better but is it really worth the price difference? That’s the big question.
That is the big question, it's going to be fun comparing them!
I also can't wait for the comparison. Looks like a great watch
Depends on your budget ... depends on many things ... cuz if you won’t lose it you will gain on the sub in long long term ... Tudor is a nice that you can get for 2.4 k euro on the grey market new ... it’s like asking is the royal oak worth 2x times increase from the sub ? If you are rich you don’t care ... but you do care about the prestige and the status that the watch represents ... you can’t compare this Tudor to Rolex . Rolex costs 5 times more ( compared to hulk ) u should compare this to omega 300 m .. and then it’s hard to say which one is nicer :)
I own both. I think they're both to be appreciated for what they are. Wether one is worth x2 than the other, or wether or not the Black Bay is worth over x100 Casio watches boils down to budget and lifestyle.
@@deltropico7 agreed. Plus being a chef and having family budget bills etc... I decided on the longines hydroconquest on rubber for my daily. I tried on the omega 300 and breitling superocean 44 but decided the longiness for me would be best. Plus the price on the longines i.m.o. was worth it.😀
NO GLOVES!!! THE HORROR!! 😂 I own the red bezel version, bought it new a couple of months ago. I had been eyeballing them for a long time and the watch exceeded all my expectations. The Sub is a beautiful watch but it's not for me. One thing that amused me, I heard a reviewer on another channel griping about the faux rivets on the bracelet. I never even noticed them until then 😀 even when I was sizing it. Great review.
Yeah , I don’t like how the rivets look on CZcams or pictures, but I went and tried it on at the AD and they were so small I didn’t notice until I specifically looked for them. Needless to say, I’m waiting on a new BB to be delivered now. Can’t wait!!
Your comment about the accuracy of the watch is interesting. When you say you have checked it by re-setting it what do you rest it against? I use an internet time site but wonder how accurate they are given that there is probably a delay of some sorts over the web. Good video and review my friend.
Hi, thanks, I use an internet site as well, always the same one, www.time.is
Cheers!
Good one Mike! I have the 79230R and love it, accuracy just like yours .
My only complaint is that on my 7-1/2” wrist I have to wear it a bit loose due to wrist swelling or I get
A nice imprint of the clasp on my wrist ! Thx
Robert Sanchez I have the same watch and the same wrist size as you. I find it difficult to adjust the bracelet for my taste. Either it's too tight or it's too loose. I wear it loose because it is summer. Before, I had a Gineault and I did not have this problem with his formidable clasp (Rolex copy).
Thanks Robert, I run into that in hot weather too, the watch goes from being a bit big to bit small, all of my bracelet watches are the same though.
people are saying that it will be hard to get this watch (with in house movement) to service and you need to send it to Tudor themselves where you can just go to a local watchdealer with the ETA movement. Is this true?
Its thickness IS AN ILLUSION. it is acually THIN COMPARED TO OTHER watches that aren’t even called ‘thick’. The CASE of the Black Bay 79230 with its 14.8 mm thickness including the BUBBLE chrystal is ACTUALLY THINNER than my Seiko skx007, which has a 14.5 mm thick case with the FLAT chrystal. I suppose the bubble chrystal of the Black Bay goes up maybe 2 mm, which makes the BB’s CASE ONLY 13 mm or so in thickness. That’s relatively THIN !!!
Kai Soerfjord 600m Planet ocean is 2mm thicker.. never seen a review on it that say it’s too thick!!
Very true.. purchased this watch and did not even notice the thickness up until I read other peoples reviews on other videos.. have a 7.1 inch wrist and the watch looks amazing ... what are they on about? This is a dive watch which looks acts and feels like one..
This is my next watch, the quality of a rolex for a fractioon of the cost. I am sold on this watch.
You will love it, mine gets more wrist time than any other watch, by far.
How much for the retail price?
I’m trying to decide between this and the 58, I typically don’t mind thicker watches at all but any videos I’ve seen of this it does seem extremely thick. I prefer it esthetically over the 58s gilt bezel however, I haven’t seen either in the metal though.
Hi Justin, thanks for checking in. I don't find the watch to wear any thicker than a Seiko Turtle, it wears great. If your wrist is bigger than 6 3/4" you shouldn't have any issues.
Just Watch my wrist is just about 7”, maybe a touch under. I’ve had 45mm watches and some lug widths up to 60mm that didn’t seem too big (I don’t wear those kind of watches anymore) but the thickness is definitely something I’m not as used to.
You could wear it on your wrist no problem, that's pretty much the same as mine.
I'm looking forward to buying a Blackbay but I'm worried about the scratchable aluminum bezel.
I wouldn't worry about it, a mark here and there gives it character, and it's easy enough to replace.
What does Tudor charge to service this watch? Is the service interval every 10 years? I’m about to buy the blue bezel with black dial. Thanks for the video!
I don’t know, probably $500-$1k
will it fit nicely on a 6.5in wrist? been eyeing on this for quite a while now. :)
6.5 isn’t much smaller than my wrist. So I’d say yes, give it a try.
Tudor used Aluminium for the bezzel maybe because if they use ceramic, customer prefer choose Tudor than Rolex because of the much more cheaper price.
Hands down, the best sub $3k bought new watch in my opinion.
The pelagos for me👍 both nice!
Mike Does the 41MM Wear larger or smaller on the wrist?
Hi Stanley, I think it's right on the money. It wears very similar to a Turtle if you've even worn one of them and visually looks a bit smaller, not much though!
I have a BB red only thing I dislike is the thickness but, other than that it is perfect and the issue is fixed in the new tudor 58
Thinking about the 58 for my first luxury watch .58 reminds me of the classic coke or Pepsi Rolex Not to thick
Fiat justitia ruat cælum but the BB58 band is small
If the hour hand was more like the second hand and a circle on the second hand instead of the square it would be perfect to my eye. Still sweet though
you might be able to actually modify the watch like that
Almost every guy has a Sub. Very few have a Tudor Black Bay. If you already have a Rolex and get a Tudor, you can then shoo away all the watch snob flies. The Black Bay is magnificent.
Agreed, it's a fantastic watch, my next is a BB58
funny - i have a tudor black bay and a 36mm Tudor Sub. love both but i wear the sub more because of the size of the case
I own the Tudor BB Blue with the ETA movement. Fantastic watch.
But i have one minor point, one that nobody talks about in any review;
I find the clasp tinny. In this price point the clasp should be solid steel and not like this tinny, a bit flimsy clasp.
I don't find the clasp on this one to be tinny at all. I wonder if they have upgraded it since the first gen?
No Tudor didn't. I know that for sure because a friend of mine has the in-house edition. Like you have.
Compare the Tudor, clasp, to the clasp of an Omega Seamaster for instance. That clasp is real solid metal/steel. The Tudor one is tinny.
By clasp i do not mean the elbow joint structure, but the outer clasp so to speak. (Englishis not my native language but i try to explain)
AjaxForever A
The clasp is tiny and a bit flimsy? Your wrist is going to fall off before this clasp fails.
Let’s look at the Black Bay for what it is. It's homage, a hat tip, to the original beautiful 1950's Tudor and Rolex no crown guard Submariners. Since a Rolex 6538 or a Tudor 7924 is out of most collector’s price range or logic as a daily wearer, the modern Black Bay fulfills this need for many of us vintage lovers. To Tudor’s credit, they finally listened to some of the complaints of the BB namely the overly thick case, and have released the 58 which is the possible cure for all of us Rolex-Tudor vintage aficionados. We want to get as close as possible detail wise to the early 50’s Submariners and the 58 is a step in the right direction. Now I’d prefer Mercedes hands over snow flakes but I can live with that as it's a Tudor watch and those snow flake style hands are proper and honest. Now if we can just get them to add drilled through case holes on the 58 and build the new Tudor GMT on this slightly smaller and thinner 39MM case...
Agreed 100% on the drilled lugs, I'm disappointed they weren't included on this Black Bay. Actually, it's funny you mention that, I thought about that this morning and wished that I had mentioned it in this video. So thank you for that.
Also, I can't wait to see the 58, I love the 39mm size, so it should be a home run.
You can always mod it! Drill the holes yourself. Hahahaha!
Like mine it's a good beater.
Interesting my Blackbay lume is green and yours is blue
It's actually a bit more green in real life than this photo indicates, not sure why it looks so blue here.
Mine gains 2 seconds a day. Wish it was 2 seconds a week like yours
At nights, try alternating the position with which you place it on your night stand. One night dial up, one night crown down... Etc.
The accuracy of Tudor is much better than my Rolex gmt at plus 1 second a week. My GMT is plus a half second a day.
Derek Shearer my sarb 033 seiko is better than my 3 second hulk
I just dislike the fact that there’s no date complication
Ayrton Sy wait my younger old and can't read the day/date. I like the clean dial w/o date.
And i like the fact that it doesnt have date. Without date watches looks more elegant. I wish more watches doesnt put date these days.
もっとゆっくり喋ってほしい
It’s just too thick for a luxury watch with zero complications in an in-house movement. It’s thicker than a G-shock!
Why do you use the word "point" after the word "price"? It is a weird bad habit people have developed for no good reason over the last 10 years or so. The word "price" is sufficient, otherwise you sound pretentious to no positive effect. If you wish to say MSRP, Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, then say so. That is communication. This is an excellent video for normal people. Much appreciated.
Hi Greg, thanks for checking in. My background is retail operations, where "price point" is a very common use term, that's why it's in my vernacular.
Best,
Mike
Just exchange the "point" for "level" and you'll be much more comfortable, I think. "Price point" does have its legibility in sales, meaning a some stricter margin or border (e.g.: if the price goes below this point, we'll sell/buy), whereas "price level" usually has a bit looser "pendulum"-meaning having some delta (like: price level between 3000 and 4000 EUR).
All above is from my business experience. May not be the absolute truth.
