    I'm so glad he's mentioned that the thickness is not an issue because it's not. So many CZcamsrs point out it's "thickness" when it really isn't all that thick on the wrist. The watch wears so well. I feel like they can't find anything to critique so they've all jumped on the bandwagon of regurgitating the same thing. You never hear then say how a Speedy wears like a UFO dish on the wrist. Excellent video btw; imo the BB is pound for pound the greatest value in the luxury watch industry.

    just got this on the leather strap. I’m 6’4 with 7”5 wrist and this is perfect, not too thick at all. I tried on the 58 and felt it was a bit too small for me. I also prefer the silver on the bezel on this.

  • @benwith1n528

    Picked up the blue version this week, and it's my first "luxury" piece. I'm one of the rare wearers that actually appreciates the size and thickness because I have an 8.1-8.2 inch wrist so the proportion is no issue for me. I might wear a shirt with snug cuffs like once a year, and if I'm indoors my sleeves are rolled up because I'm always hot.
    The in-house movement is a plus in my mind as well. I plan to keep this watch for a long time (at least 20 years), and that power reserve and accuracy is fantastic.
    Anyway, I was quite nervous spending this much on a watch. I didn't go in debt or anything, but it was still a significant decision in my life. Despite that, I'm glad I picked it up. It feels like a nice accomplishment to be able to do this and enjoy it.
    I have ordered the ColeReb Venezia Ocher strap for it because I think the tan on blue contrast is going to be striking. Just hoping i can incorporate the clasp with that strap.
    Thanks for the video.

    Pretty good watch. I went into a Tudor AD looking for a Pelagos and unfortunately they didn't have any. The AD had a two tone GMT black bay, absolutely stunning, but I wasn't sold on the two tone, they gave me a black bb58 in leather to try and I loved it, but it looked dainty and small. They didn't have the 41mm to try. Walked into another AD and they had it in stock, tried it, loved it, bought it.
    I would still have loved to find the Pelagos LHD but a bit of wishful thinking these days.
    I think the 41mm bb in black looks so much nicer in person than on videos/pictures.

    Beautiful watch! Enjoy! I recently bought the BB58 in the same colours. Still in love with it! One quick question.. Why you opening the clasp like this (hard way) instead of just open it by grabbing from the side and pull? Does it harm the clasp?🤔 That's how i do it because i bite my nails and don't have any. 😆

    Is your rotor audible when you move your watch around? I've tried to research it to see if other people are having the same noise. The rotor is louder than all my other watches and sounds like a subtle rubbing noise. I hear it could just be because there are ceramic bearings inside.

      Depends on your budget ... depends on many things ... cuz if you won’t lose it you will gain on the sub in long long term ... Tudor is a nice that you can get for 2.4 k euro on the grey market new ... it’s like asking is the royal oak worth 2x times increase from the sub ? If you are rich you don’t care ... but you do care about the prestige and the status that the watch represents ... you can’t compare this Tudor to Rolex . Rolex costs 5 times more ( compared to hulk ) u should compare this to omega 300 m .. and then it’s hard to say which one is nicer :)

    NO GLOVES!!! THE HORROR!! 😂 I own the red bezel version, bought it new a couple of months ago. I had been eyeballing them for a long time and the watch exceeded all my expectations. The Sub is a beautiful watch but it's not for me. One thing that amused me, I heard a reviewer on another channel griping about the faux rivets on the bracelet. I never even noticed them until then 😀 even when I was sizing it. Great review.

  • @kaisoerfjord6794
    @kaisoerfjord6794 Před 5 lety +4

    Its thickness IS AN ILLUSION. it is acually THIN COMPARED TO OTHER watches that aren’t even called ‘thick’. The CASE of the Black Bay 79230 with its 14.8 mm thickness including the BUBBLE chrystal is ACTUALLY THINNER than my Seiko skx007, which has a 14.5 mm thick case with the FLAT chrystal. I suppose the bubble chrystal of the Black Bay goes up maybe 2 mm, which makes the BB’s CASE ONLY 13 mm or so in thickness. That’s relatively THIN !!!

  • @waltheisenberg5620
    @waltheisenberg5620 Před 6 lety +5

    Let’s look at the Black Bay for what it is. It's homage, a hat tip, to the original beautiful 1950's Tudor and Rolex no crown guard Submariners. Since a Rolex 6538 or a Tudor 7924 is out of most collector’s price range or logic as a daily wearer, the modern Black Bay fulfills this need for many of us vintage lovers. To Tudor’s credit, they finally listened to some of the complaints of the BB namely the overly thick case, and have released the 58 which is the possible cure for all of us Rolex-Tudor vintage aficionados. We want to get as close as possible detail wise to the early 50’s Submariners and the 58 is a step in the right direction. Now I’d prefer Mercedes hands over snow flakes but I can live with that as it's a Tudor watch and those snow flake style hands are proper and honest. Now if we can just get them to add drilled through case holes on the 58 and build the new Tudor GMT on this slightly smaller and thinner 39MM case...

    • @JustWatchreviews
      @JustWatchreviews  Před 6 lety

      Agreed 100% on the drilled lugs, I'm disappointed they weren't included on this Black Bay. Actually, it's funny you mention that, I thought about that this morning and wished that I had mentioned it in this video. So thank you for that.

    Why do you use the word "point" after the word "price"? It is a weird bad habit people have developed for no good reason over the last 10 years or so. The word "price" is sufficient, otherwise you sound pretentious to no positive effect. If you wish to say MSRP, Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, then say so. That is communication. This is an excellent video for normal people. Much appreciated.

      Hi Greg, thanks for checking in. My background is retail operations, where "price point" is a very common use term, that's why it's in my vernacular.
      Best,

      Just exchange the "point" for "level" and you'll be much more comfortable, I think. "Price point" does have its legibility in sales, meaning a some stricter margin or border (e.g.: if the price goes below this point, we'll sell/buy), whereas "price level" usually has a bit looser "pendulum"-meaning having some delta (like: price level between 3000 and 4000 EUR).
      All above is from my business experience. May not be the absolute truth.
