    A lot of people don't realise that most of the thickness difference is from the domed crystal on the tudor. Both have a bulbous case back. The rest is illusion as the thicker Rolex bezel allows for a narrower mid case. The benefit of the thicker bezel and narrower mid case is a reduced weight on the watch head

    As others here have mentioned, this comparison should of been between the Sub and the BB58. That Tudor would of made a stronger case for itself. As I also believe it’s overall, the best watch Tudor makes. And I would of chosen it over the Sub here. This BB is just too chunky for one thing, like many of Omega’s contemporary models, which puts me off them too. Still, this Sub is a fab watch as well, an icon.

The Omega has the arguably better movement than the still non-updated Rolex, same performance, same warranty and is pre-owned a true bargain with independent watchmaker credentials with the George Denials Co-Axial. • @BenTramer
    @BenTramer Před 4 lety +1

    I prefer the Rolex in this matchup for all the reasons Tim said. Tudor is a better watch dollar for dollar though. Tim, wouldn't it not be well advised to negotiate the crown with wet/sweaty hands RE: introducing water into the case? You always mention a gnarled crown as a plus for this reason.

  • @gpearce11
    @gpearce11 Před 4 lety +1

    I’m not in love with either, but I feel if I ever did fall for that design, I’d be more drawn to the Black Bay, simply because it does so almost as good as the Submariner for so much less. The Submariner is slightly-moderately better in basically every way (although I think I may prefer the BB aesthetically), but I do t find it 2x better in any of those respects.
    There are only two issues for me with the BB. First and foremost, while I understand an aluminium insert is truer for a vintage aesthetic, if I can get a ceramic bezel on divers -$1000 (see Tissot Seastar 1000), I’m not willing to pay $3000+ without it. If the BB ever switched to a ceramic bezel I’d take the BB over the Sub every time (BB Steel partially solves this, but I’d prefer ceramic).
    Secondly, and more subjective, they need to update the 41mm with the new, smaller, movement in the BB58 to bring the thickness down (my 8in wrists are the only reason I wouldn’t just get the BB58 instead).
    Personally I’d take the Omega SM Diver 300M over either, as I feel it matches the Sub in almost every spec, yet is much closer to the BB in price (I also prefer to have a date, and despise the Rolex cyclops). I will admit, however, that both of these are aesthetically much more versatile than the more polarising Omega.
    Also if money isn’t a factor at all, the Sub is definitely worth the extra money over the BB (I just don’t feel it warrants the extra cost if you still saving the funds).
