- Buying my first luxury watch, I discuss the strange elements that coalesced behind my purchase of the Tudor Black Bay 79230N, which is temporarily on a Strapcode Endmill straight-edge.
Congratulations on your purchase. So refreshing to hear someone speaking positively about the 41mm Black Bay variant. Sick to death of those feminine wristed Black Bay 58 fans, constantly crying about the difference 2mm makes and begging for more bezel/dial colour ways to match their shoes and handbags..... Truth is, if any of the limp wristed brigade were offered the choice between a BB58 and a Rolex Sub 41mm, they’d break a nail swiping the sub. Enjoy your watch!

Grand Seiko next 🙈. It is Seiko, which you love, but amplified to the maximum 😂 (Although, technically, it is no longer a subsidiary of Seiko Watches but of the parent company Epson Seiko Corp. because they wanted to make Grand Seiko more independent of Seiko. Whatever, business 🙈).

Just been looking on eBay UK there are loads of geniune ones for under £600. So I'd guess you would be looking at $ 600 or thereabouts. Sell one of your seikos off to get the real one maybe ?

My Seiko Marinemaster 300 tuna has that amazing double domed crystal that looks like a fisheye or porthole when looked at from an angle AND it says Marinemaster Professional on the dial. It’s better than the new version. 👍🏼🤣

It’s a great watch and I’m sure the new bracelet will be perfect .you got the taste for higher end so seemed probable you would bite . You will be accustomed to the higher end feel and this could work in your. favour as it may negate the need to continue going round in circles buying seiko and citizen .. Enjoy your watch I’m sure it suits your perfectly..

Congratulation on you watch purchase. I have my Tudor BB GMT on a strapcode jubilee and my BB58 on a strapcode oyster. I prefer the look of the strapcode bracelets over the original Tudor bracelet.
The best was Seiko has to offer is a bold statement. For me this would be SLA017, SLA025, SBDX013J, SLA033, SL037.

Shades of John Updike’s Harry “Rabbit” Angstrom out of Rabbit Is Rich. Look at Rubber B straps for your Tudor. A bit expensive but well worth it. More comfortable than metal bracelets and aesthetically masterful which is an odd attribute for a rubber strap. I am now outfitting a second Rolex with a Rubber B strap as I prefer the look to Rolex metal bracelets. Rubber B now has straps customized for the Tudor BB. Enjoy your new watch! Tell yourself, “You are worthy of this, McMahon.”
In ten years long after this is gone; and you are done with servicing and flipping ; you will still wear that Tuna.

It’s the marine master on the dial I’ll never get rid of mine for that reason they screwed up removing it for sure I wouldn’t be surprised to see them bring it back. I have to say until you see a grand seiko sport watch or even the top prospex LX line both with spring drive that’s Seiko’s best at this price point. those are truly some of the most beautifully finished watches I’ve ever seen in person even the obtainable ones make a Rolex look rudimentary and you can actually buy them for retail no games involved. I’ve heard Kevin O Leary compare his GS with a finish level equal to Patek and it’s all by hand Rolex doesn’t. I liquidated my deep sea years ago to come back to Seiko to build a mini collection of upper tier Seiko’s including a sbec001 transocean chronograph black, a black sbga229 GS ceramic diver for a steal best lume I’ve seen on a watch hands down with plenty of money to spare. I’m between a few models I’m saving up for now what was originally supposed to be a Rolex panda I can’t justify spending 35k on a stainless steel watch I’ll spend a couple extra to get a oysterflex or full white gold one but I can’t see spending that much no matter how much. Ones I have so instead I’m seriously considering a speed master, a planet ocean chronograph or other or the new Tudor panda chronograph with a breitling regulated chronometer movement Tudor next to seiko is probably one of the best value watches you can buy they are exactly what Rolex used to be. You’ve been talking about that black bay for years I’m glad you finally got it and it is everything you were hoping it would be strapcode bracelet looks pretty good I’m pretty sure the rivets are bogus on the authentic as well anyways congrats!
