Hey, Welcome to the OFD Watch Channel. My name is Aron Dunlap, and I’m nuts about watches. What’s OFD you ask? Well, one of my best friends coined this term. It stands for “Only F@#*ing Dunlap” (sorry kids!!) due to some of the ridiculous things I can come up with, including watch collecting.
I have loved watches for years, but in the last few years really got into the collecting and studying aspect. I mainly buy Seiko and Orient watches, but I love everything out there!! (Omega, Oris, Rolex, Squale, Timex, Casio, Steinhart….and on and on and on)

Picked this one up about a month ago from my local watch shop. Glad I did. My favorite in my collection. Looking at now at the same but blue bezel. Enjoyed the vid/review.
Congratulations! Might have to look at one of these
Awesome watch! I also love my 79220N :)
Amazing guilt dial!! Congrats 🍾 on an excellent Tudor to have in your watchcollection!👍🏻
Thank you Torben!! It's a favorite! 😎👍
I actually have that same watch and you're so right in everything that you said. Stunning peice and way nicer that the new , in-house movement models . Great video
Thanks Tim!! Really appreciate your viewership 😊👍
Just picked one up, not yet on wrist. Great review, thing is I watched half the vid today and said ok, emailed the forum member whom had one for sale while visiting my grandson today, bought the watch via tape talk, back home, finished watching this vid and my new to me watch is going to be inbound tomorrow.
Nice!! Absolutely stunning watch. Congrats 👏
Nice review. Agree this is the best of the lot, bezel, reliable mechanism and sits better than the new models even against the 58. As you said, limited edition with original Rose.
BTW someone is selling for $6100 ... just spoils things
After Aron's review of the Black Bay Red, I eventually came around and purchased a Blue variant with the in-house movement. It's hard to describe how impressive this watch is over say a mid-level Seiko like the MM200 or the 62MAS re-imagining. Even though my Black Bay is thicker than this ETA version, it still fits very comfortably on my 7-1/4" wrist. The only word I can come up with to describe the Tudor is "crisp". The application of lume on the hands and indices is flawless. The printing of the dial is flawless. The winding action of the crown is eerily smooth. The MT5602 movement is the most accurate automatic watch I've ever owned, gaining about half a second a day. Even the METAS-certified Omega 8800 movement in my Seamaster Diver 300M isn't as crazy accurate as this Tudor.
I understand the desire for the thinner ETA variants and of course the 58 series with the smaller case. But if your wrist is used to Turtles and Tunas and MM300s, then a Black Bay won't feel excessively large. The riveted bracelet does get a lot of grumbling on the forums, but it is comfortable and as well-made as the watch itself. The Black Bay is quite affordable compared to other luxury brand diver watches from Breitling and Omega and the new Oris 400 caliber Aquis. The only thing that will ever make me sell this watch would be if Tudor issues a blue dial, blue bezel variant. That would make this very, very impressive watch even more perfect, in my opinion.
Happy holidays to you and family, Aron!
Lee, I absolutely love your comments. Thank you! I hear you about the "crispness" you find in the dial of a Tudor watch. Completely refined, and so tasteful. The new, in house movement is definitely more accurate than these ETA versions. I've been blown away like you at the accuracy. Usually flat 0 or a second fast. You really cannot go wrong picking up a Black Bay, whatever variant you find. Cheers buddy 👍
Great vid mate!!
Thanks buddy!! 😁👍
I paid under $3000 for my 79220N with complete kit, it's cool to see them appreciate that much already!
Absolutely!! I got in really close to that too😁👍Full kit
Awesome Tudor 👍🏻Great Review Aron
Thank you cuz!!😎👍👊
Great video Aaron! Greetings from Santa Cruz neighbor!!!
My home away from home! 😁👍🌊 Cheers neighbor!
I bought the watch at 2400...still keeping it~~!!!
Score!!😁👍
Beautiful watch but I prefer the Tudor Black Bay with the red bezel version. Another great watch & review! 👍
Yes, I had that version also for awhile. Great looking watch!
@@OFD Yeah, I remember you had that one as well. Then you showed an Orient that looked like the Tudor Black Bay with the red bezel that looked so good I picked that one up.
Does N=Noir?
Hi iz this the 58 or std black bay. Ive got the std size green bezel version. I do like the red triangle detail
This is a 2015 Tudor Black bay 79220n. Only produced for around 5 months in 2015. BB58 is a totally different watch
Is it the Harrods model you have?
@@OFD yes thats the one
I like this version more, its Thinner and using an ETA means you don't need to sent it back to Rolex for service and have them rip you off. The only thing I don't like Tudor put that Roter and self winding on the dial, would be beautiful if they just put automatic and 200m/666ft on the dial.
The Rose and Smile text are what makes this reference so desirable. I understand from a original design standpoint, but collecting makes the odd/limited versions gain value with tenure. Thanks so much for your great comments! I greatly appreciate it!🙏 😁
2:49 It's the unnecessarily thick slab side that keeps me from buying a BB 41. Yes the first ETA edition 79220 aren't as thick as the current one but both are still to thick. And it's a bit of b.s. with blaming the movement for the gaudy thickness. Tudor is just following the marketing trends for a larger watch presence. I'd defiantly for a BB58.
I prefer your Tudor over your Rolex, thanks for the video👍
Me too!
Nice watch and good review but the BB58 has the edge on this one due to the in-house movement and the case size/thickness.
The BB58 is a love or hate watch these days. I really don't understand because it's a really nice watch. Based on collectibility (smile dial, not as many manufacturered, John Mayer's Hodinkee article😆) over the years this one will fare the storms a little better.
@@OFDMaybe but I prefer to judge by who I know personally and what they are buying. I have many friends who are watch collectors and they all either own BB58s or are planning to buy one. They have no interest in any ETA Tudors and definitely not for the ridiculous prices some are going for. I have an ETA Longines HC 41mm with the ceramic bezel, the movement is better than the Tudor ETA performance wise.
@@resjon7981 👍
Completely disagree this is one of the rarest and most collectible tudor with a production time of only 6 months the smiley dial and the tudor rose plus its much more wearable and handsome and most people will take eta as a benifit in long run as its very accurate plus the appreciation on these is as good as a rolex submariner and this particular model being the first real heritage watch will be a very collectible watch in the future if the black bay line up keeps getting bigger over time have talked with many collectors and even guys like tim mosso share the same opinion
Do you think they'd make these in a smaller size?
Check out the black bay 58 series 👍😎
@@OFD I would! But, I really love the Tudor rose and the curved font, I love the character with this one. I have to decide how big of a deal size is in a watch. Unfortunate, bc I have always been a fan of small watches.
Is it Tile resistant ? Lmao 🤣 lol
This one is not a basketball Chuck!🤣👊👍
