- You have saved up your hard earned cash and decided you want to buy a Tudor Black Bay Harrods edition only to find out there is a waitlist at Harrods.
Your impatient and you want the watch now!! You don't mind paying a little over retail so go looking on auction sites and forums and find one.
Would you be able to spot the difference?
Hopefully this video will help you avoid getting sold a replica.
If you can only buy from an authorised dealer (or a highly reputable reseller)
This video is for educational purposes, please do not ask where to buy replicas, your comments will be deleted.
Checkpoints
1. Bezel Movement - Should be firm and no play
2. Clasp Fitting - Should be easy to remove but firm
3. Clasp engraving - Should be deep and not laser etched
4. Crown engraving - thick black lines not light
5. Rear engraving - refined finish no rough edges
6. Harrods logo - Should be centrally aligned
7. Crown Gasket - Should be visible by about 3mm
8. Bezel Colour - Should be a darker green (harder to tell unless side by side)
9. Bracelet Links - Refined brushed links, very little spacing on end details
Plot twist. Out of sheer confusion, genuine Tudor was accidentally returned to owner while fake was kept.
The Chinese thankyou for pointing out the minor mistakes. And will correct them on there next noob version 🤣🤣
🤣🤣
LMAO!😂
ZF has definitely watched this video. Their newest Harrod’s BB fixed most of these differences.
1.5x speed to save 5 minutes of your life.. you're welcome

Mate I do that a LOT! That being said, I freeze framed the split screens a few times as a very useful video. Thanks!
Faisal Sohail Glad it was of use 👍🏻
the hero without cape.
Good on you!
Just got my BB in the mail, I followed along with every step of the video. It was quite helpful, thank you!
Great vid. Truly terrifying how similar the fake is to the genuine article!
I bought couples of replicas in the past but I never felt good about wearing them. There was no sense of achievement. I felt much better wearing cheaper but genuine watches like Seiko or Citizen. Now I own two gen Omegas and one gen Rolex and I feel much happier. I could get happy enough with my Seiko but to finally afford a gen Rolex is in another level. And knowing that I can make profit later by selling it makes me even happier. Don't buy fakes. Save your money and buy genuine. Wear what you can afford.
I have had replicas in the past and your right wearing them doesn't feel right. When you do finally get a genuine you can enjoy it more and you know how hard you have had to work in order to save for it.
I have a rather large collection of watches (more than 20). Among them I have a genuine Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono and a replica Rolex Deep Sea Cameron edition. I love both of them and I enjoy wearing both of them. I don't feel any less when I wear the replica than when I wear the genuine one. Really the only difference I feel is that I'm a bit less worried when I wear the replica about damaging it, losing it, or getting it stolen.
I have a large selection of sports cars
Eddies clever. Do what Eddie does.
@@TECHFIGHTER I'd be worried for someone or a business partner spotting it or asking to check it out because their a watchie... what an embarrassment if they spot the fake
Incredible, if you don't have a genuine watch to compare, it will be almost impossible to determine the fake copy unless you are a professional. A good reason to not buy luxury timepieces at eBay or other similar platforms. Unfortunately, these fake watches will also make it much more difficult for honest private sellers to sell their genuine watches, as people will be more and more suspicious.
Another give away is that the replicas usually use ETA clones and when you turn the crown counter-clockwise, the hands move clockwise. With the in-house movement (like Rolex movements), when you turn the crown clockwise, the hands move clockwise. Much easier way to spot the fakes claiming to be in-house. Not as easy on the ETA-based Black Bays.
Not anymore. It used to be the case. That’s the thing with replicas, all that you know today to spot them, it won’t apply on the tomorrow clones. It’s scary really
They have cloned the Rolex 3135 movement... and older Tudors use a 2824 movement so super easy to clone..if that's actually cloning..LOL
bb58 turns counter clockwise when you move the crown clockwise, the same with the eta blackbay, which is still mind boggling why they do that
Good job! Excellent comparison photos. Very informative video.
I tried on a genuine (blue bezel) model BB at an authorized dealer. The clasp was hard to undo without using the thumb-and-finger pull. Maybe because it was new. The salespeople struggled with it too!
Great vid!
I came away with two impressions: #1 These videos are helpful to counterfeiters, so that they may improve their fakes. The internet has ushered-in unprecedented improvement in "replicas". #2 That looks like a damn good watch for 250.00; I'd own one... but could never bring myself to pass it off as genuine OR try to sell it as the real thing (which is despicable). As I said, though... I'd like one, based on your praise (sorry).
Very informative, Thanks!
NateStevens1992 thanks glad it was of use 👍🏻
One question, when you turn the crown upwards on the rep, does it turn cw or ccw?
This helped me buy my first Tudor, Thank you!!!!
It’s a whole different story if you don’t have a real one to compare the one in question.
ZF is the Chinese factory that makes super replicas of Tudor. They do a good job
What factory make in this video
scary stuff, although I bought mine from Harrod's, you made me inspect it real good.
Great vid
Why would you? Only Harrods provides this model. Everything else would be fake.
haha, you got scared?
Excellent video I was about to buy a BB from Ebay, no way now I will stay away from Ebay for such purchases.
I love Tudor watches most all. It's a shame these have to be counterfeited! Great upload!
I bought a tudor blackbay 58 on leather strap once, wanted to order their bracelet but it costs around usd1000 in my country, ive since sold the watch, only now to realize theres a replica BB58 bracelet version. I wouldve bought the replica and used the bracelet, but too late now.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your great video. Ive seen the fakes have a phantom date on the movement / crown as i guess they are using a generic ETA copy. Can you please advise if your copy had this ?
Cheers
I can’t remember I’m sorry, movement was an Eta 2824-2 I believe if that helps
thanks very helpful for my impending friend's 2nd-hand purchase THANKS
Are there any bb58 nato version replicas? I am picking one up tomorrow, its apparently full set with all the booklets but want to be extra cautious
Very good video. I’m impressed. You should get an opener and start doing videos on movements. As some Asian clones have even writings on cloned movement. Interesting video. Cheers
hello sir ! How many grams has the original one ? ifi put it on the scale
You can also listen to the movement the Tudor movement beats faster the Chinese 2428 ( I think the codes right ) bests slower and the weights in the watch will spin with a flick of the rest generating noises . Less noises and smother action on the Tudor
@Swiss Made Clones making a copy watch is surely illegal in Switzerland
@@timeintheuk illegal or not, if you did some research yourself, it's everywhere. and can be easily be placed into a rep.
Have found if you roll the crown upwards on the genuine it turns clockwise and anti clock on the fake , have subbed to your channel
A note on the crown. Apparently, the crown logo thickness varies by production year. You can have a genuine BB with a thin crown logo and another with a thick one.
Does the bracelets on the fake still have the ceramic ball bearings?
great video!
The people saying save your money and buy the fake really confuse me? Why would they even be watching a video of Tudor watches? As mentioned before, work hard and buy a luxury time piece and feel a sence of achievement, if you love watches you'll understand what I mean. But I'll admit the replica is a scary reality if don't researched properly.
Can you please let me know where you purchased this from?
what needs to be written/showed on the warranty card? mines says MODEL: 79030N, SERIAL: 2V20022. Is there any forums where i could send 20-30 pictures of the bb 58 that i would like to buy and someone could tell me ifts it replica or not?
Great advertisement to buy a superclone, it's not an expensive mistake, it's a cheap opportunity to own an exclusive watch that no one will know 😂
A tighter clasp is a bonus too, less likely to open by mistake. Your splitting hairs here chum, im going for a superclone, thanks for recommendation and showing me how little I'm missing out on with a genuine one.
Hi have you managed to find the superclone. Tell me please where can I get it from?
If you can’t buy the original, you can’t wear it. Not even a clone, how clownish it is, acting like you have a 5k watch, but doesn’t even have money to pay your bills.
I sometimes think the modern clone makers actually leave a few details to tell that it's a clone because if they clone the watch too accurately it will fully ruin the watch brand they are cloning and this will ruin the market and they will also not be able to sell clones. The printing on the dial is actually raised more on the original than the clone which is another tell on which one is the real deal.
Im on the waitlist...looking forward to get it
How long did it take
This really makes you wonder how many people out there are wearing replicas of expensive watches without knowing it. These replicas are incredibly convincing. Could have fooled me. Really makes you reconsider when buying used from a private seller or dealer you do not know a lot about.
Thats why I wanted to do the video, alot of people are not aware of how good these replicas are, and unless you have them side by side or know what to look for you could end up getting ripped off
Scary bro. I gotta tell u my tudor harrods is quite hard to open the clasp
Does the fake keep chronometer time and have a 70 hour power reserve? I would hope not...otherwise, what's the point of the authentic?
10:57 on the genuine, the shield is actually a touch off centre to the right...!
I think thats more to do with the angle of the camera, dead on view its perfectly aligned
@@TheWatchGeek hmm not sure. i straightened it in photoshop and added guidlines vertically and horizontally. the shield definitely looks off-centre to the 12 hour marker. but who knows... still, could be a weird optical trick!?
@@AbstractMan23 It's not uncommon with gens to have misaligned markers and such. That's why it's not a reliable tell for rep/gens. 2nd hand reps from a knowledgeable rep owner often have fewer alignment problems than gens from the QC reject/accept process.
Odd world we live in where buyers will reject a replica for defects gen buyers would eat up on gens.
SMH lol
Does the replica keep good time?
Excellent review and a great help to a potential buyer
It sux that it happens but if a company can make a clone for 10% or less of an original, how much money are the big brands making on these things ???
They big companies spend years coming up with the internal mechanics... thats why they cost more.
@@MrRCalden not if it's not an in-house movement.
I took some pictures with my phone magnifier app just for comparison with your pictures..I think the rep has a phantom date and the bazel doesn’t “lock” at 12..😁
How about the machine inside?
Shallow depth of field is cool and all... but in this case when you want direct comparisons, it doesn't work well to have one little detail in focus and the rest just blurry.
I know didn’t really think that through maybe on the next video will open the aperture a bit more
Where did you got the replica
Informative video, thank you.
The final nail on the coffin would be opening the caseback.
I need to try and get a case opener to have a look
@@TheWatchGeek the fake one uses a 28800 vph asia movement to sweep like the gen but it lack gen looking decoration unlike top rolex replicas. also if you look closer the coloring on the tip of second hand is off on replica.
@@whoisvahid very easy to just drop in a gen movement.
And how would you open the case back of a watch sold to you via Ebay? He could have the real Tudor on hand and show you the video of opening the real watch and sell you the replica...Get is genius?
@@whoisvahid wrong...the top reps of this watch have decorated movements that loot tge same...the older ETA versions are even harder to tell as both use a ETA 2824..one an asian clone...
I own both and have had a jeweller friend take the back off...all hes said was "fucking hell take a look at this" when i say i own both i mean i own a gen BB heritage and a rep
You could clearly notice that the teeth on genuine crown are not as sharp ended.
Where can you buy a replica this good, and how much would you expect to pay for it?
lume pips and crown are easiest ways to see clearly on most fake watches
can u do review for model Hublot Big Bang : Fake vs original
holy crap dude, can you just get on with it. You should drink 4 cups of coffee before taping this video. It'll speed things up tremendously. Cut back on the tranquilizers the night before. No anti-histamine either, OK.
😂😂😂😂
I bought a REAL GMT ROLEX years ago from a friend-- wore it every day-- LOVE IT!! however most of my friends would say hey NICE FAKE ROLEX..lol... I think the reps are nice!! Love to own both! GREAT VIDEO!
That's the issue. Everything get's called fake these days. No one believes that others have what they can't have. Saying that Rolex are a scam anyway. Just like DeBeer Diamonds. Artificial pricing. Seiko unfortunately is starting to do this too!
@@pentachronic so true. i would love to own a Grand Seiko .. love the history of the movement, but the prices are ridiculious
@@donblade5405 IMO Grand Seiko Spring Drive is the most innovative technology in watches of recent times. I would love to have one of these but I can't justify the price !!! They are incredible feats of engineering and design.

Half of this video is out of focus. I can’t finish watching this.
Jonathan sorry I should have changed the aperture a little to allow for a wider focus
WHAT ABOUT WATER RESISTANCE
Nice video pal!
Cheers Dafydd!! may need to borrow your explorer at some point :)
Hi. Just watched your vid. There’s another telltale sign for this watch... maybe 2 but I’ve never seen a clone to confirm. First of all if you grab a loupe and look into the middle of the hands you will see a pinhole in the Center stem. On the genuine it’s solid. You can see it in your video at dead on 11 minutes. And secondly. If you hold the gen harrods and move it so your looking flat along it at from bottom to top I’ve noticed the foot/metres in green basically disappears almost. I recon that wouldn’t happen even on a good replica.
Great vid I was considering ordering one of these clones and doing the vid myself as there wasn’t one when I purchased my tudor harrods .... but never did!
Hi Michael, thanks for the feedback. Will take a look tonight and do an update if in the week if needed :)
It would be very interesting if you could show the differences in movements.
yes...really need to see this
That’s what I was waiting to see.. cause if the movement is identical then does all the other stuff even matter?
That's an impressive replica. These things wouldn't be noticeable without your in-depth analysis.
Around my local market both the BBBB and Harrrods are going for retail and even below. I can buy a BBBB tomorrow for £2,400 if I want. The collectors around me have become bored with them and for the BBBB the patina just makes it look dirty. As for the GMT, those are not moving either. The online prices may be for all the people getting into the market for investment or FOMO, however it's not true of everywhere.
I think with Basel around the corner people are holding off , the Harrods isn't that hard to get hold of at retail i was just impatient and didn't mind paying a little extra to save the wait
You gotta open them man!
For some reason, your original piece is missing the Swiss Made text engraving on the clasp.
Frantisek Kurcik it’s not present on the genuine, I believe it was on some of the earlier black bays. All the genuine Harrods editions I have seen the Swiss Made is not present on the clasp
I think you are right. I guess the clasp is not Swiss Made then.
so it's 99% same but cost 10 times more...
Sure buy the fake and fool yourself. Embarrass yourself daily by proofing to your self you don't have enough resource for a real one.
@@bthc90 This argument is flawed. Many genuine owners also buy and use the replica version of their high-end watches.
@BackdriftNightfall what an even dumber comment.
@@bthc90 The sad and embarrassing part would be having to prove anything to yourself.
@@bthc90 not true dude. I own Real Rolex & Omegas plus other smaller brands. But i feel Tudor & Panerai is not worth the asking price, so i get replica.
Wear whatever u want without judging others.
Brilliant video, cheers mate
Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of buying one off e-bay.im not now. I will put my name down for one.
holy shit! the fake is so good, theres no way i would risk buying a second hand one off ebay. Thanks for the heads up
Great video. Can you share the link for the replica site for research purposes. Thanks
intimewatch.
A very good replica you got there.
where can i find the replica? for research purposes
Did you ever find out?
You could buy replicas at aliexpress ioffer etc but does are often cheaply made. If you would want to look into spot on replicas search for "rwi" it stands for replica watch info. There you can get all the information on how to find trusted dealers watch reviews etc. The biggest provider is puretime and has been a trusted dealers for years(the link to their site puretime.io/).
research purposes hahaha that's a good one...
yeah right..research purposes?
Reddit is a great place to start
Can you still get these? Even be placed on a waiting list. Or im guessing it’s discontinued
I'm currently on waiting list for this Harrod
I’m on waiting list with harrods too. Should be soon I guess after lockdown.
Yes I believe lists are still open
Does anyone know what the power reserve is on the replica? Are they able to get 70hrs too?
48 from what I heard !
48
If you’re a collector, replicas are not proud to own, though I do buy them for the parts so as to preserve the real parts. But this replica is scary similar to the real thing. The worst thing about replicas today, is that con artists will let you see a real watch, then switch it on the sale
Turned off as soon as you said a warranty card proves authenticity. Literally every fake comes with a box and papers these days mate.
yep, if you pay a few bucks extra, they come with surprisingly good papers as well. could probably even fool most watchmakers.
he actually states that at the end - that people making replicas also make fake cards with fake informations
But does the clone keep good time ?
Thanks for sharing, great content.
Are you a Gog or a Mouth Waleian?
Some more content please 👍
South lol 😂 I actually have some coming really soon just waiting on a delivery 👍🏻
where can you buy genuine case gaskets? for crystal and tube and case back?
I would contact your local Rolex/Tudor service centre. There not as expensive as you would think, plus you know your getting genuine parts.
@@TheWatchGeek problem is they need case back number and tbh my tudor is a 1:1 noob replica. so I jsut wanted to update teh water resistance to match original.
but dont have a case number they are asking for.
and i bought a genuine ETA from a TD to replace the rep movement as well. its the poor man way to get a eta tudor! lol
Just saying, the ZF Super Clone Grade version of this, they have basically fixed all the issue you pinted out in this video it seems.
are you talking about the v2's?
It would be helpful to see the movement
J. Keith Farrell unfortunately I didn’t have a caseback opener at the time of filming
The quickest way to tell the difference is by opening the back and see the movement.
Very true, the case opener I bought was totally useless otherwise I would have opened it up.
There are some clones that have the movement 1:1 the only real way you could tell then is down to the level of finish I guess
How did you manage to get a fake that good 🤔
You didn't touch on the clearly different crown milling. Also the indices on the rep are a dead giveaway. Much more rounded and polished on gen. Markers around the dial are a bit fatter too.
i know i noticed this after when editing
thank you
Which rep is this? for research
Nice video. I know that this kind of videos should help people avoid buying replicas, but honestly, I think it's doing exactly the opposite and the more people see the improvement of replicas\copies\fakes (you name it), the more they want to not buy the original. Fake watches industry is keeping getting better and better and when a you see what it offers you for a fraction of the price, it's a game over for most avarage people. Sad but true.
Unfortunately that is a down side to this kind of video, there will always be some who will be happy with the fake version but there will also be people who want the original and end up being ripped off.
I was in my local ad the other week and one of there customers brought in a watch that had been passed down from a grand parent for a service, only to find out it there Grandfather had been sold a high quality replica.
It’s a down side of any successful product there will always be fakes unfortunately.
I disagree the fake may look the same but the ultimate build quality cannot be the same
@@TheWatchGeek Yeah. Strangely enough, a lot of fakes get passed down from a recently deceased beloved relative... lol
It's a different market. The gen market doesn't rely on the once in a lifetime buyer. It relies on the rest of us who buy several for emotional reasons.
If we're being honest, if a rep for $250-300 matches up on build quality, movement quality and so forth of a $2500, the gen maker is doing something very wrong.
Noob, a couple of guys in a basement, builds a daytona movement, which is completely parts interchangeable with a Rolex.
They don't have the parts all made by a single manufacturer, they have different people make different parts, and they all fit at the end of the day.
Sure, the polish isn't as good and the out of box regulation is probably shit. But you simply have to service and regulate it and you get COSC precision.
What is Rolex doing so wrong that someone can literally duplicate what they have for 3% of the market price of a gen?
And before someone says "but there are tells", no kidding. For most Rolex fakes, the tells are intentional so rep buyers buy every new version that gets released.
That is fucking frightening bruv. Realistically, unless you've seen and handled many Tudor Black Bay Harrods or you've got a genuine example with you to compare you've no real chance of spotting the replica. Scary.
Shocking how good that fake is. Makes you wonder if the original is worth the money. (not saying you should ever buy a fake)
I bought a fake panerai 111, literally an exact copy of the real one. And it cost me $300.....vs $7,000.......just shows you how overpriced watches really are.
forkandknife tbf panerais are so basic you’d be mad to buy a real one
Love mine don’t regret it . There are lots out there now wait list 3 months approx

The only Gen watches i would buy would be brands like Rolex because they gain value over time. So its somewhat an investment. As opposed to Tudor, it loses value.
For tudor you can spot in 10 sec. turn the bezel and put it back at 12 oclock.. resistance ? a real one.. wonder if the strap of the fake can go on the real one .. ??
Or maybe the quality of the original is not what we once though?? The clones are an exact example of how we are being manipulated by marketing tactics.
As long as I know I am getting the fake one, I'll be happy with that...
I don’t know about anyone else, but a tight bezel click is much preferred and well worth the premium in price. Just kidding! I collect mostly obscure Asian brands. My entire collection isn’t even a down payment on even a lower end Tudor. Pro tip on cheaper clasps: put s finger between your wrist and the clasp, then put more of a lateral pressure not pulling straight upward.
Thanks for the feedback
So... if you saw it on someone else's wrist... without the other right next to it and examining it by hand, you couldn't actually tell... mmmkai.
I would say another way to tell if there’s a fake is that and this can be said of any kind of fake, and that the fake looks like it’s off in someway
Now on your video the fake watch looks dull in the light at times compared to the original. The originals usually have a sparkle to them that the fakes don’t have.
unless u have a side by side comparison it's becoming increasingly difficult to tell
These days I buy Invicta, glycine, Vostok, Timex, even Tissot online, because I know I got an authentic watches. Once you get to a price point of longines, there is a chance you got a replica from one of those factories...
Take the back off, job done, of all the tells this is the one you didn’t do and it’s the only one you 100% should do. I’ve got both and the things you mentioned were not present on the fake/replica I have. I’m not condoning it but there is no play in the bezel, the click is almost exactly the same (were the clones to use ceramic ball bearings it would be the same) the strap is very similar to the Gen. the only way to really tell was the copy only lasts for about 40hrs and I took the back off and then it’s obvious.
The biggest and easiest way to tell…the indices and the hands…night and day with the differences. The fake clearly cheap stamping…compared to the Tudor..and the indices…again clearly not even close to Tudor quality. I would also suspect the lume with be a dead give away…
Is it possible to find the indices and the hands and replace them? Sorry for noob question
Do not I repeat Do not rely on the forums . The forums are full of no it all so called self styled experts. I put photographs of my no date sub up for view and guidance on the purchase guess what the general consensus was that it was a replica. The watch is genuine bought new from an Ad and has been back to Rolex to sort a timing issue. They are fools.
