I sold my BB Steel & Gold (41mm) and BB Bronze Blue (43mm) after only a few months simply because they were way too bulky on the wrist and didn't feel right. I now own the BB 58 and it is absolutely perfect at 39mm and much thinner.
Let's hope Tudor expands on this formula this year.

I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on the steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've owned for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex Sub in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it when barely 35% of the retail price - go to an AD and try one on. In-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed.

Such an awesome watch, phenomenal! I totally agree with you on the overdone guilt details, the bezel definitely needs to be more like the black one on the 41mm version. This is seriously the only thing that is holding me back from buying one, I really dislike that guilt bezel insert. Other than that, it is kind of the perfect watch for me... Hopefully, we will see new versions of the 58 in the next Baselworld.

    • @notDonaldFagen
      @notDonaldFagen Před rokem

Most of the time in pics posted by owners in watch groups etc, it's hard to tell if it's a 41 or a 39 by their wrist size. And often made harder to distinguish because the gold on the 58 bezel is not THAT prominent. Either can look silver or gold depending on the light.
All that to say, it hardly clashes.
If anything, the gold on the hands and dial of the 41 is more of a clash with the silver bezel text than vice versa.

I owned a Tudor watch and i noticed that there are some tiny little scratches on the sapphire, was trying hard to ignore it for the past few months but i keep asking myself how come it is so fragile since it’s a sapphire crystal? Based on my understanding it only can be scratched by crystal (but ofcourse this statement is made by the professional, i do believed that something like a brick walls or concrete street with a certain amount of pressure applies then it will caused scratches too).
Then i decided to drop by to the Rolex service centre to confirm whether it is really scratches on the sapphire glass. They took my watch in and do the checking on the spot by the Rolex certified staff and they get back to me by telling me that The sapphire glass which is used on Tudor is a lower quality comparing to the one which is used on Rolex. I was quite frustrated when she told me that and i told her that there are only 3 types of material and they are acrylic, mineral and sapphire. So if you’re telling me that if it’s not sapphire, then are you telling me that Tudor’s glass is made up of mineral? And she answered me no, it’s sapphire but not the same high quality sapphire that can be found on Rolex so it is not scratch resistant.
I left with disappointment because if what they said is true i will not even buy it at all. And i keep thinking about the statement which is made by her about the different sapphire thingy, there are also 2 types of sapphire which is domed and flat sapphire but both sapphire provide the same level of scratch resistant. It seems like The glass which is used on Tudor is the same material used on Seiko, which is the hardlex glass (More scratch resistant than mineral but less than sapphire). Furthermore, i have a much more cheaper watch with sapphire for years and i have not seen a tiny little scratch on it.
Just wanted to share this experience with all the watch lovers out there to ensure you will not have the same bad experience as me. And please share with me what’s your thoughts and what you would do if this happened to you?

What specifically makes this watch particularly “dependable”?

    • @tynannida9642

Tpz Elf seems like basically every watch these days could be called “dependable” I guess in this case the timekeeping would be “dependable” since it’s a cosc movement?

Build quality. Similar to Rolex. With occasional service should last your lifetime I thought it was obvious

tynan nida lol every watch will last you a lifetime with periodic servicing, especially at this price point. What makes this more dependable than other watches in its class?

Too much gilt, IMO. If they make a blue and white version (no faux patina) in the 58, I think that might sway me.

A watch review should include the bracelet and functionality of the clasp which are an integral part of the watch. Short of the faux rivets you do not mention the bracelet at all. If someone is looking to buy a watch at this price they are interested to learn about the entire watch.

Agree 100%. I had to do additional research on the bracelet to learn if it had any type of premium clasp adjustment features (which it apparently does not).
