Tudor Black Bay 79230 (In-House) Worth It? In-depth Review!

  • Tudor launched its MT5602 movement to mixed acclaim. While everyone was pleased to see what the In-House movement offered, others were not happy about the change in dial along with the thicker case size. In this video, I give my impressions on the Tudor Black Bay 79230B. I discuss whether the changes were worth the size increase and if it is an overall good buy in this present day.

I like that you bring up the fact the Tudor Black Bay has a dive bezel. How this could be used to plan your bottom dime before needing to ascend. At this price, nobody would wear this while diving ( I never do ) but it's a classic look nonetheless, and a really good review !

I ordered the Red on stainless Friday. I was worried about my 6.7 inch wrist. Looks like it's gonna be ok. I really like the idea of an in house movement from a company so closely associated with Rolex. The reserve is so cool too. Been wearing my Omega SM chronometer for 20 years. This is a beautiful watch, I've been trying it on at the AD and nearly pulled the plug, but eventually opted for the ETA model. It doesn't have the great power reserve and only has an ETA, but the Rose and curved text are classic styling. Being thinner too is a big plus as the newer version was just too thick for my 7.5" wrist.

Is it worth it? Absolutely! It's value for money. I dare say, it is underrated. It is punching out of its weight class. It can easily be worth an extra $1000 of the SRP price and it would still be a bargain. One of the best Tudor has ever produced. Question- did your Tudor HBB 79230B originally come with steel or leather strap? Was the NATO strap included?
I discovered your channel this Morning (I 🖤 watching Tudor videos!).
Your Presentation format, ability to expound on each particular detail and enthusiasm, while you dissect the Tudor watches is GREAT! I had to SUBSCRIBE to your channel!👍
I 🖤 the brand and the purpose for which Hans Wilsdorf birthed Tudor.
As a prior military serviceman (Marine Corps), I relish in the fact that Tudor has historical ties to our U. S. Military; specifically Navy SEALS. UDT Divers would receive Tudors upon Course Completion!👍
The Build Quality of the Tudor HBB variations, both ETA SA and In-house, is impeccable!
The 79220B was the model I gifted myself for my Marine Corps Service. I sold it after 2 years; truly lusting the 79220R at the original purchase.
FFwd to present time. This time tomorrow, I'll be the proud owner of the originally self-coveted red colorway HBB, but Movement MT5601; I'll have the best of both worlds.😏👍
I'd LOVE to own the Tudor GMT. It looks more GMT than the current Rolex GMT.😂
MY "Unicorn" is definitely the Tudor Oyster Submariner w/date complication, circa 1954, that's the "Sunday Driver"!
Tudor is not the "little brother" or plays second place to Rolex.
Ties to Rolex serve Tudor fans and The Brand advantageously.
For those like me, whom enjoy bar-none build quality & the aesthetically-satisfying design details of the '50s and '60s built Rolex Submariner and GMT/ Tudor Submariner and Oyster Prince Submariner models, Tudor is the obvious choice!
Keep up the Awesome work on your channel and watch reviews; looking forward to the next episode!

    • @horologyproject
      @horologyproject  Před 3 lety +3

BMJ ENGLAND it’s durable because the sapphire crystal rises above the bezel effectively offering it added protection. Ceramic is more scratch resistant, but is less shatter proof than aluminum. At the end of the day, you can always get Tudor to put in a new insert. They aren’t that expensive.
