  • So We actually did this video at the old shop. This was the first video that I had Christian in from clutch Society. He started with me in August so this video is from August 2023 I never released it and I thought the information was extremely good for anybody who’s ever changing a cartridge style wheel, bearing cartridge style wheel bearing seem to be about the scariest ones you can possibly change, but I’ll give you some of the tips and tricks that I’ve learned over the years to replace these well as simple as possible hope you get a little laugh out of the video. I was being a little bit nutty, and even though this is a link the video there’s tons of tips and tricks in here. In this video, I’m changing a wheel bearing on a Honda civic, but it really doesn’t matter because anytime you’ve got a change one of these cartridge style wheel bearings it’s gonna be almost identical. There’s only so many ways to build a Wheel bearing, and hub assembly

    As always, amazing work.
Honestly it would take me 3x as long (or more) to do the work you do.

I like your thoughts about negative comments pushing the videos. The old addage applies... There is no such thing as bad publicity....

I thought you were going to show us a easy way to pull your pump up iv pulled up a inch and quarter pipe 300 foot on my own 1 1/2 horse power pump twice in 20 years I'm dreading it going again because I won't be able to pull it up I'm over 70 now the last pump about five years ago I'm not as fit as I used to be. Interesting video👍

Oh crap I forgot about that…. But I will tell you 10 months after making this video and not touching that caliper. It’s still just fine even though I did it on purpose…. I did it on accident one time in a video several years ago and back then I didn’t know that it helps your algorithm when people comment on your videos even if it’s negative, so I did it on purpose in this one too because I really didn’t care and I thought it was funny!!! However, that Poppy still going strong

The races are always a pain to get off the spindle. I like to take a die grinder and cut it and use an air hammer to knock it off. You don’t always even have to cut the race fully through to get it off. My dad can cut them off with a torch without hurting the spindle but I never can and end up looking like yours did lol so I like using a die grinder. We have a small press so I always take the knuckle off the car and press them in/out, but I’ve had a couple that were very oddly shaped that wouldn’t fit in our press that I had to take somewhere to press them out. I wouldn’t mind havin one of those hub tamer things but I almost wonder if a cheap press from harbor freight wouldn’t be the cheaper route to go

You know it’s crazy as it is, I believe in honesty and I will tell you till a week ago after 30 years of working on cars I never once took a spindle off to get a wheel bearing out and I can tell you 100% the oh my God it’s much fucking easier lol i’ve been working on cars for a long time and I’m going to make a video about cutting corners while you’re working on cars and that’s one of them…… I feel a little bit dumb but I think I need to be honest I should’ve been removing knuckles all this time…. Because God, it saves a lot of grief

@@sharpcarco I never like to criticize how others do a job but when you said you did the press-in bearings with the knuckle on the car I thought that sounded way more difficult than taking it off lol. I’ve been working on cars my whole life and one of the better lessons I learned from my dad who’s been a mechanic for 50 years is that you gotta be careful to not end up working harder trying to avoid taking something apart further than you want to. Sometimes it actually saves you time and grief to take something apart all the damn way lol. I used to try to do intake gaskets on 4.3 Chevy’s without taking the power steering/accessory bracket off the front of the motor and one day I decided to just take it off and it was so much damn easier to get the intake in and out with that outta the way lol. You’re never too old or too experienced to be humbled in this profession tho that’s for damn sure

@jesseleesamples . That’s exactly my point and exactly what I was talking about often times we think it’s easier to do something when we’re doing less but doing less actually makes us do a lot more. And specifically that wheel bearing that I was talking about doing last week when I took the spindle off was the reason that made me think of that. And I made a video precisely about doing less actually makes us do more. I’m gonna have to give you audible credit though. I didn’t use that terminology when I made the video, but I have to remake the video now I lost my phone and lost the video that I had already produced and edited which really sucked.
But you are right I’ve never said I was and even at 48 I’m still learning, but I really didn’t have an issue doing it on the car. And that’s the way most people are gonna actually think about it. The next time I have, I will be taking it off.

To anyone changing half shafts in a Ford Edge…. The both look the same but there is an actual left and right side. Ask me how I know. :(

But you can tell us anyway, even though we probably all know the answer, but it would be exciting to hear about
