How to Install a COMPLETELY New Front Suspension in your Car or Truck

- Learn how to replace the ENTIRE front suspension of your car in this two episode series. Here I will show you how to install a brand new wheel bearing, ball joints, control arms, tie rod, strut, and axle.
The ball joint and wheel bearing has to be pressed into the knuckle and I have a bunch of tips and tricks to make that easy. I show how to properly install a tie rod (safely) and get an accurate measurement so you can get the car aligned. I also show you how to properly torque down bolts with bushings so you don't tear them. The rest of the suspension parts are pretty simple to install and then we go for a ride to see how much better the car handles!

The other day I spent 3 hours chasing wires and I only got paid an hour of labor. It's the shop who makes all the money lol. I do love how you explain the pressing of the ball joint and the bearing. Id say inform the viewer that on most cars you're able to get the control arm with the balljoint already pressed in. The same goes for the bearing. Although the bearing will be more common to have to press it in.
It's nice when they have parts like that but good to show regardless!

This is one of the best videos I've seen explaining how a car is put together. I've always enjoyed learning how cars work and watching a suspension system installed really shows how steering and drive power make sense. You make it look very easy to install the whole suspension system by self than what it actually is. Good job bro. Keep doing this, you got one subs from me

Pro tip, for when your torque wrench wont fit. Drill a hole into the end of a wrench, measure the distance between the hole and the center of the bolt. Then pull on it with a fishing scale until you reach the desired resistance. Using the equation, F = t / R.
So, let's say we want to torque to 83Nm (61 ft-lbs), and our wrench is 30cm long. 83 / 0.3 = 277Nm.
Since most fishing scales don't measure in newtons, you then divide the result by 9.81, to get force in kilograms. So 28.25kg. When the fishing scale reads 28.25Kg you know you have 83 Nm of torque.
This will be just as accurate as any torque wrench. This is how torque wrenches are often calibrated in fact. Just make sure you pull the scale perpendicular the the wrench. Pulling a few degrees off increases the required force.

Ive done front suspension work a few times, mostly cv axle replacement, but i wish i had seen this video before, very informative.

I did not foresee my driver's side lower control arm bolt being blocked by the transmission mount on my '03 TL lol! Found a video of someone removing the same LCA on the driver's side of an '02 Accord, lo and behold it's the same suspension structure as my TL! I had to raise the transmission a few inches to remove the mount (so nerve-racking) but I did it and completed the full suspension rework. You can do anything if you do your research and get your hands dirty! Thanks ChrisFix, your detailed videos give me so much confidence working on my car!! :)
