Can't wait to get this for like under 30K in 6 years
Try 4 years
Why would u want it anyways
Hey don't misrepresent things. It'll be that price in 2 years
@@youngwang97lol I was about to say pretty much that 😂
Hey if you can't afford the depreciation, you almost certainly can't afford to run it once the warranty runs out.
"Drives reasonably well." Just what I want from my $230,000 car
I almost spit my coffee into my keyboard 😀😂
Bro you don’t have 230,000 to spend so it’s okay 👌
@@Trippyisopand you do?
I love DDM but I think remarks like this in his videos make him sound like the wealthy guy he has become (which I am happy for him about). "Drives reasonably well" and "looks the substantially the same as 15 years ago" and "lost the nice V8 sound for V6 rasp" and "now this one stickers for $230k" is all just so silly. How many peole will buy this thing for Porsche GT3 money when Crossovers and SUV's rule the sales charts?? As DDM likes to point out, it's not the purchase price you need to worry about. It's the depreciation rate! And this one is gonna have a steep one.
"drives reasonably well" my dad said the same thing about his 2002 Olds Alero 💀
and he's a mechanic.
The exterior is magnificent, wow.
I'll have to be financially stable in every sense before purchasing my first luxury car. The best thing to do with your money is to invest rightly because money left saving will end up with no returns.
The best advice that i learned from Manny Koshbin is don't buy a Super or Hyper car until you have 10 times the price of it in your Bank account, when you purchase a Super car you add a car to your garage but u add also maintenance and unexpected damages that can happen in future
I understand Manny advice but that's overkill. If most people did that - they would never own one. The 10-15% rule is enough - especially if you make even more with multiple streams of income. My investment properties pay for my exotics cars. It's many different things you can do to afford easily and responsibly. You don't need a million cash to afford a cheap 100k car, My first exotic was 100k put down 20k- financed 80k. Then traded up to more expensive cars.
Now I have an Aventador, so it's not hard at all, Especially if you are making 20-25k plus a month with little to no debt with multiple streams and assets that produce income.
If you got 10x the price sitting in your bank account... you already making bad financial decision.
You need to get a financial planner to aid diversify your portfolio to commodities index funds, digital assets etc, to provide illumination and guidance in the financial markets.
No doubt being financially free and not having to worry much about inflation, health care and other expenses especially after retirement cannot be overemphasized, making smart plans and setting up diversified investment portfolios is quite essential.
I think Doug unfairly judged the design of the car. The GT is beautiful and this is a perfect evolution with a modern design. G Wags, Jeeps, and even 911s all have looked the same since 2007, but the new bodies all look good.
the 911 from 2014 looks brand new
Probably to be expected from a guy that loves station wagons. :)
When it comes to maserati he have double standards
Totally agree! Especially the 911.
Idk, I look at this and immediately see “2010” all over it
maserati really excells at the $230k to $30k category. In under 3 secounds that's amasing performance😂
🫢😁🤣👍🏻
MC20 is around this price point and it looks better
@@rapidshot3033 Very different cars though. The GranTurismo is (no surprise) a GT car. A very sporting one, but a GT car nonetheless.

@musicmoviesandgames2004 yeah someone else caught Doug in the act 🎬 😬
New porsche looks like the old porsche and no one complains. The Gran Turismo deserves to be the Italian 911. It's beautiful, I hope they never get rid of this shape.
I was thinking the same thing. Doug never blasts the 911 for essentially looking the same since it's inception. This is the same thing - an evolution of a timeless design.
Its cause porsche's are actually good
^ what they said.
Porsche’s are actually good, desirable vehicles. When do you hear of anyone wanting a Maserati nowadays?
"Italian"
tldr/ those two things are not the same. the 911 first came out 60 years ago. it has heritage, it has a rich history. the reason it gets away with remaining unchanged (which tbh, i dont really believe it is. it's small evolutions that keep adding up) is because it's just so recognizable and so well established that if they ever tried to change the silhouette or the recipe, they'd be committing suicide. the gran turismo came out in 2008, its not as well driving, not as well reputed, and this one is priced way too high to ever make sense
Sick of the GranTurismo hate. It is such a beautiful car
Very true it really is a beautiful car, especially the Folgore convertible. Peasants make up the majority always remember that a Maserati isn't for peasants peasants will never understand the beauty of a Maserati.
enthusiasts will buy it at msrp, sane people 6 years later for 25k
At $250k, you have to be insanely rich to absorb such depreciation. In five years, it will be worth $100k.
meh, for the price tag you can get something much better, and the depreciation is insane. Objectively it looks good though
@@orang7789 Foolish comment "something much better" such as?? I don't think so give an example in my opinion there's not one car that is as beautiful or as exclusive in the segment "Depreciation is insane"? it's a brand-new model what you are doing is making an old cliché statement based on older generation models, not on facts based on the latest models which have yet to be proven.
“Manual or Semi-Automatic! Are these weapons?!” 😂😂

Admittedly that was a perfect one-liner
Ghetto dealers. $125/week for 96 weeks at 30% interest, and free tracker

That's a real thing NYC. I see them all the time. They ain't lowered
I love how even as we've entered the digital age where screens are everywhere and offer infinite possibilities, Italian car designers still feel the need to make the controls horribly cramped and unintuitive.
Bravissimo!
This is not the future we were promised. It's not better. At all.
Maserati doing in their design department what Porsche literally has done for 30 years with their 911. The new one, looks like the old one, and everyone LOVES it. Way to go Maserati - Stick with what works!
Good Point!
911's have all been a blast to drive and hold their value very well, and you can get them in manual transmission if you can find one.
Except that 911’s hold their value. That Maserati crap does not. A friend of mine lost 80k in a year on a MC 20
@@jamescarter8311 True, but thats beside the point. My point here is that automakers in many cases are better off with a gently upgraded design than a complete RE-design when they have made a beautiful car-model. Porsche is mastering this particularly well, while you have other manufactures, like BMW who every now and again throws a total spasm in their design department, destroying an icon (at least until they get back on track a decade later, which they usually do...) I think its interesting what Maserati is doing here and I respect it, because its hard to argue that this is a fine looking automobile, right?
@@1bluensx Maserati isn't known for holding their value and I would never buy one new (or any car new for that matter) They just lose too much just leaving the dealership. But the design is great and I respect Maserati for reusing it and I wish more automakers would do the same when they have created something that really works. This car is beautiful, there is no two ways about that. But it is going to lose a ton of value, thats for sure too.
Hold up a moment. Doug has a car auction site called Cars and Bids? Why has he never mentioned this before?
I know right? I would have checked it out if I had known!

The pricing of this car really bothers me. Because if you pay an extra 20k, you can literally buy the MC20 supercar instead. Which also leaves the MC20 in an odd spot as well.
But who I am to complain when I'll never be to afford these machines.

Doug I’ve said it before I’ll say it again - review the cars outside!!! The audio in the garage is NOT GOOD, and the natural light and atmosphere outside really help with the visuals of the car and the mood of the video!!!
You prefer the outside noise? Planes flying overhead, birds screaming at each other, traffic clanking by.
@@BenLindelof he goes to parking lots to review cars. He also cuts out parts that have background noises.
@@BenLindelof yes, because it’s far less noticeable and distracting than the constant echoing and poor lighting.
Not worth it. Have to deal with weather, people coming up to say hi constantly, finding a location, other noise, limitations to the time of day you can film. Sure it's better quality, but in his position the slight improvement in quality isn't worth the trouble.
@@evilcookiekiller how is it not worth it if it makes a better product? Look at his counterparts in throttle house, straight pipes, anyone else and the production level is miles ahead. Just being outside is the bare minimum here
The original Granturismo is one of the most beautiful car designs of the past 50 years, plus it has that glorious sounding Ferrari made 4.7 V8. The first run (as with most all new cars) had some issues. But those were all addressed, and from 2014-19, they are known to be highly reliable long-term owners and drivers. I believe that low mileage examples of those years will be rising in value, & likely, much sooner than later.
This new maserati gran turismo will set the record for automotive depreciation
A hoovie car in the making

That's because there's a lot of other cars out there better looking than this.
5 years later we get a video from Hoovie: “I bought the cheapest Maserati GranTurismo”
And badly broken in America
The cheapest GranTurismo of this generation will be a salvage title Folgore (electric variant) that needs a new battery pack due to someone driving and crashing it like a different Stellantis product
The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore version especially the convertible is one of the best-looking cars on sale today period!
Drive right off the lot immediately depreciates $160K
A few thoughts after seeing the vid:
1. The car is absolutely beautiful
2. The digital clock is f*cking tacky. For this price, give us a proper analog from a serious watchmaker.
3. The idea of a "power/brake" meter is actually pretty damn awesome. It's really helpful in evaluating your driving, as well as determining break fatigue (sports driving).
4. Way too much touchscreen interaction. Basic features should have analog dials.
5. Too many tridents.
6. Most of the above considered, maybe better get a good condition earlier model.

I got a crazy deal on a 24 Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo. 1 Year lease 15,000 miles. $23,000. The car is delightful tech is great super comfortable, great sound system, and some how the car actually performs. Lets just say i will use ALL of my 15,000 miles haha.
Leasing was super smart, that engine might not be as kind after 15,000 spirited miles are added to it but that’s the next guys problem lol
$23K is likely to be less (possibly substantially less) than the depreciation. It also appears to be noticeably less than many dealers are advertising (per year) for a four year lease period with a 15,000 mile per year allowance. How much was the initial payment? And was that initial payment cash, or part of a deal in which you traded in another vehicle?

That's right in the middle of the GT market, where you'd expect Maserati to be. Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes are cheaper. Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Bentley are more expensive
Im glad Maserati is getting itself back into the true high end market. The design may be similar to the original one, but the materials are fantastic, it looks modern, its fast, and seems to be of far higher quality than it used to be.
I will agree on the materials aspect. the leather in Maserati/Ferrari is wonderful.
I like it, but Maserati is really out of step with their rivals. It's already almost dated. It's really a DB11 competitor, but Aston Martin just released the DB12 that has over 100 horsepower more than this Granturismo. Bentley also just released the new Continental GT that's up over 200 horsepower on this. Both Aston's and Bentley's 500 HP engines are last-generation. The Ferrari Roma has over 600 HP. Even the electric Folgore trim is already dated. It's the same technology as the original Taycan, but Porsche just released a comprehensive update to that too.
This new Granturismo is leaps and bounds ahead of the old model, but the cars it would compete with have already moved on and it feels like Maserati is always a step behind their competitors.
And a V6? No thank you.
I do not get why Doug is not happy with the design. Original design was peefection, you do not change perfection! I do not see Doug saying this about Porsche 911.

What a time to be alive. Lexus made an LS500 that's so sporty and small inside that no one wants it. Maserati made a $230k+ mid-engine car with as much plastic as a $75k C8. What a bunch of confusing and L takes. Did you mean IS500 or LC500? The LS500 is not small, and the other 2 are pretty coveted. 2, the C8 isn't plastic-fantastic. 3 of course it has a V6, it's 2024, not 2004. I agree, it is stupidly overpriced.

This car also has a deprecation gauge option that you can bring up on the clock screen.
OG doug demuro subscribers thought this was a throwback video before reading the title when he absolutely flamed the Maserati ghibli few years back 😂😂😂. Very similar thumbnail and background
This car does not have a bad side to it... its probably the best proportioned car on sale to day..
That would be Bentley continental gt, especially the face lift version that's coming
The Folgore convertible is one of the most beautiful cars on sale today!
I will say the wheel to wheelwell gap and ride-height are a bit off. Wheels look too small. Go look at an M850i or AM Vantage. But body wise, looks great.
I'll take a Guilia Quadrofoglio instead, for less than half the price.
how about something german aka actually good
Are the rockers on that M6 at the beginning of the video damaged?
Doug, the type of guy to be over the speed limit and still appreciate it! 17:06
People complaining about the v6 are going to be the people who that are complaining about the sound not the perfromance.
And they wouldn't buy it anyways. Nothing wrong with a well tuned turbo 6.
Given how important a calling card the sound is on these cars, it seems like a valid complaint.
Numbers don't lie and the MC20s sales have been poor because it has a V6. If someone wants a V6 with scissor doors they'd spend $160k on a mclaren 570s not $230k on an MC20. If the MC20 had the Grandturismo's old V8 it would have sold much better
@@RyneLandersprimitive things such as “how it sounds” isnt the most important thing when it comes to a vehicle. The sound is literally useless
@@missemotional8710 that's the statement of someone who's never driven an amazing sounding car like a Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar, etc 😂🤡
Go buy a Tesla and enjoy your sound-free drive.
Who is buying these new?
One of the worlds greatest mysteries. My theory: people really stupid with money like athletes and rappers. Or...ultra wealthy who have hundreds of millions and dont care about the depreciation losses buy them for their kids for their first car. Or as gifts. Or...lastly, oil sheaks buy them for their collection
Who is buying these.
Rappers?
@@majorcarlton137 yep. Someone like a Plies. I know Plies had a quattroporte back in the day
Exactly what I came to say.
Can't wait to see these listed next year
I mean for the shifter buttons....can't you bend your finger at the first knuckle? I mean...why you have to have it straight and hyperflexing?
I don't understand the pricing of Maseratis and who buys them. They think they're Ferraris or something. They should be half the price or even less in my opinion.
