This tutorial teaches you a small modification of a normal PRDNL shifter to a Lancer GTS trim Shifter which allows you to switch gears on your CVT.
-The Shifter could easily be bought on: www.car-part.com/
-My lancer is the Canadian Lancer SE trim.
-Its been known that any lancer 2011+ will NOT be compatible with this mod.

LANCER DE 2010 does NOT work! I have a Lancer DE 2010 and I added the floor shifter from a GT of the same year and it didn’t work, it works as a regular shifter but doesn’t recognize the + and - I also added the paddle shifters but the is no plug cable to connect to the paddle, it appears that 2010 DE doesn’t have the wiring needed for these upgrades. (I checked what was different from my DE to the GT floor shifter and my DE wiring plug had less cables on it)

II have a 2012 lancer ralliart and it had a sst into it one point in time from previous owners they didn't have a clue about engine they thought they was go to get the same engine but didn't get some original stock one and screwed up all the wiring so I have to replace all the parts which gonna cost me alot.

Frankie Alvarado I just did it today. I installed the paddles shifter and the floor shifter. This would not mess your car because it has the connectors and all stuffs. You are not altering your car.

I have a 2012 Lancer SE with the AWC. Do you know for sure by chance if this is completely incompatible with the 2012. Also where you have a coin holder, I have 2 blank button spots and a AWC switch. If you know anything about this. I'd highly appreciate it.

I'm almost certain that the mod only works on 2011 and before models. But you can feel free to google and search up to see if there are people who still did the mod regardless. Although I think if the floor shifter assembly isn't working for you, i think the paddle shifter mod might work. Good luck! Cheers.

It's in your TCM..... this guy does well but isnt exactly where you want to get information from. (10 bolt pulls out screws and tab "just break" lol)
Hey dude this is awesome, how does this work though? I thought CVT many continuous variable transmission which means no shifting?
If you research CVT they computer uses mechanical ribs to push the chain up the "gears" there isn't really gears but they are divided parts of the CVT cone transmission that the computer can push and pull the chain up and down the cone. So thats why you can control it here. And also there is a lancer trim called GTS with this shifter in there and for that model they just plop this shifter in there just like how i did it here.

do you know if this voids the warranty and also shouldn't you technically have a transmission cooler to keep your transmission from overheating
It probably does void the warranty, and no the GTS trim doesn't have an intercooler to cool anything down either. And also the Oil temperatures are normal when driving in Triptronic mode.

i have a 2011 Lancer SX and it came from the with the select shift feature when i bought it, does that mean someone put it in before i bought it or is the SX just the australian variant of the GTS?
I actually think you're right on the theory. SX might just be GTS, do you have paddle shifters? If you do, then its a GTS variant. Keep in mind GTS is also 2.4L
@@BillyVisuals the only lancer in Australia with the 2.4 is the VR-X which is classified as top of the range here, the SX was introduced in 2011 and sits between the ES and VR which all have the 2.0. When they were still in production you could get paddles on all models from factory as an extra so things must be very different here

I have not encountered anyone who tried to mod their 2014 lancer with this mod. And I still drive this car today with the shifter. You do not need to change transmission for this mod. But only if you have the correct car and correct shifter.
No funciono en el mio, Lancer ES 2014, tiene los conectores en el volante y en la palanca al piso, es el mismo cableado, pero no funciona, seguro Mitsubishi lo anulo en la computadora.

Yeah sorry, unfortunately this mod doesn't work with 2011+ models of the lancers, they are lacking some electric components.

I'm 100% sure it does not. because it comes from a dual clutch transmission system which does not fit nor do well for your cvt transmission.

Nope it wouldn't, it exists on a higher trim car. They do the same as what I have done in this video. I'm still driving the car with this shifter today

Not quite sure. I believe SE is just right before GTS so you may have a good chance. I'd say give it a try since it's not too costly. And if it doesn't work then sell it. Good luck!
Im having a problem in which i installed the gts shifter in my 2009 lancer gt, easy install but when i go to drive and try to make shift its not doing anything its like a normal shifter.
Also the blue plug that goes to the top part is not connected which i notice now but could this affect my shifter or is it only a light for the letters?

I hope you guys know if you put that shifter on it will be there for looks only. It can't actually shift sense a cvt (constantly variable transmission) only has one gear.
Actually it shifts... even if it does have 1 infinite gear. It break it down to the gear ratios the same as a manual car, but controlled by an actuator through the computer. This makes it shiftable like a manual car.
To all those asking if it could be done on newer lancers (2011? 2012-2017) It is doable. Had mine done. My car is a 2016 es AWC. You just have to buy a newer Floor Shifter Assembly as they changed a few things. I bought a 2012 GTS shifter on my case. Its still plug and play but will have to adjust on Fitments. I hope this encourages you guys to try this simple but incredibly fun mod. Also as it needs fitment adjustments I suggest just letting a mechanic change it for you

that button is to release the gear if its stuck. so you open that panel with a small flat head and press the button to release the gear position if its locked.

hey I did this conversion but I want to know if it's normal to smell like burnt clutch, it's basically transmission fluid that you smell, I recently did a transmission fluid change, I have no leaks and my car is at 70k miles my only guess is that the fluid is to hot and it's getting cooled idk if you have smelled it or if it does the same with you.

I've never had a horrible odour come out of the car from this mod. maybe only when I really stress the 'gears'. it might be the transmission fluid or it could be that you're stressing the transmission too hard. If you are then you should take it easy and not drive in the shifter mode for a while. See how your car reacts. if your car gets worst bring it in for a check up. Good luck
Yea I figured it was the transmission getting stressed either way I'll check for any leaks just in case, but I just noticed when you let it reach high rpms and didn't think it was normal to smell that in the cabin.
+Marcos Lopez the highest I've ever pushed it out at was around 5-5.5k. there might be smells outside the car by then but not inside. Maybe your cabin air filter needs change as well

No, it unforunately does not. The EVO MR uses the SST transmission which is a dual clutch assembly, not CVT like our lancer is.

What is the "L" Mode on your old GTS Shifter? I haven´t this on my german lancer.
It means lower gear, its used during winter when stuck in snow, so we would be able to get out of it. Hope I helped!

I have it too man, and it means "Load". You might wanna use it when you're pulling some other (small) car or going way up on a high terrain. It's like 1st gear. It just stands for load. Oh and it maintains the car on first gear.

Good question. I have no clue. When I did this the 2016 platform wasn't there yet. Tho my best suggestion is to just give it a try. It's not too over bearing of a cost. And if it doesn't work, you can still sell it. I bought the shifter off of some random eBay person and it worked. So good luck to you buddy

Has anyone had any luck getting rid of the crappy Rockford sound system? I hate mine ad I'm an audiophile. I want to replace everything including the gps head unit. Any help would be appreciated. I hate the sound
I have the stock Rockford speakers, just changed the head unit, added 2 amplifiers and a 10" Kicker subwoofer and it sounds amazing! My doing guy said the Rockford audio system is good, so we didn't switch out the speakers.
I know this post is old but I just bought the shift clutch and when I install it. It doesn't seem to go to manual so I can shift gears I install my paddles with no problems I can shift but with the floor clutch I can't any idea I thought it be the relay on it but it not that I tried every method and still not budge
Did you install the shifter on a Lancer DE? If so, the DE doesn't have the right wiring unfortunately.
@@BillyVisuals I found out the wiring is different since mine is a ralliart I end up getting something else. now I have to figure which wire is which. I still cant shift up and down only on the steering column.
edit: I wish I could get the diagram on which wire is which, I haven't had the time to do it cause i've been busy with work.

@@BillyVisuals Im from east trenton nj and my ralliart has 2wd and 4wd turbo it had auto onto it I wanted to add the shifter onto it on the steering column which works perfect but the shifter on the dam floor doesn't work not even to put it in drive I had to rig a dam splitter for it to go into drive and reverse. the other wires don't know what they go for.

From what i saw doing on mine unless you get a 2015 gts part or the era of 2014 going onwards, its a gamble
AMprodz19 Unforunately, mitsubishi took out the electrical part that connects the shifter to the dashboard ever since 2011+ lancers. You can try but it you might be looking at paper weight if it doesn't work.
So do you mean that the 2011 lancer will work with this mod? The wording of it is a little confusing, like do you mean that the 2011 model and up will not work, or that the 2011 model is the last model that will work?

Yea just leave it in drive and when it hits
10mph you can press them and they will engage manual mode and when you want them off you can press and hold the right pedal or come to a complete stop. When I installed my paddles they come on a square frame so it forces you to take off the steering wheel to install I didn't want to do that so I just cut the top of the frame and slid the paddles right under no problems connected them to the wire harness and boom working
Can I just get the steering wheel paddle shifters and be able to switch gears with that with my oem shift assembly? (2011 lancer es)
First check if your car has the plug, if you remove the cover under the wheel and see a loose plug around that might be it. Mine didn’t have it and I realized after I installed them, so now I have useless paddles and the lower wheel cover doesn’t fit so I would need to get a new one and see if I can find a place that works with those wirings
You can install the wheel paddles, if you find the right GTS shifter, though I would just go with the Floor assembly, as this is much easier and less invasive to install.
@@BillyVisuals I ended up doing the paddles. Super easy and quick. I did the floor assembly too which was much harder imo.. plus the paddles are way more fun

Hey man so I tried to install the shifter and physically everything fits of course but the yellow wire on the GTS shifter has no corresponding wire on the car’s wires. Any idea how to fix it? Without that wire it doesn’t operate as a GTS shifter and does not unlock the parking lock when depressing the brake. Everyone I’ve seen says it’s plug and play so I have no idea why this is giving me trouble 🤔

@@BillyVisuals yeah I could only operate the shifter by manually disengaging the parking lock and then it only worked as a normal shifter, no sequential.

I just did it to my 2008. it works plug and play on any 2008 up to 2011. I bought the paddles shifter off Ebay for $62 , and the Floor Shifter assembly off a yunk yard for $80. it was not hard to do it. just a little time consuming but not hard. the car really feels more powerful while is on sport mode.
Duuuuuuuuuude! ¿Is it true that you have to re program the car computer? I have a 2009 SE SVT but I want the GTS shifter so bad! i'm ready to buy the shifter but a friend told me that it was very risky, cause of the computer. HELP!!!!
Pedro Pablo González Ramos No, I don't have any experiences with modifying a car computer. This tutorial is proof that you don't need to touch any computer parts. All you need to do is install the shifter and you're good to go. It's very simple. good luck with your project

Alfredo Magallanes Actually yeah I did try it. Sadly the floor shifter doesn’t work for us. If you want tho the paddles do work and they’re fairly easy to install.

can i use any shifter ftom 2010 and down ? will it work with my 2010 or do i have to buy the 2010 gts shifter? cause i was planning on buying 2008 gts shifter please let me know . wana make my car more fun already lol
