#thezombies #timeoftheseason
We had THE best music! We are privileged to have had it part of our lives.
That's no lie. 👍🤓
Just said the same thing today
The other big hit for The Zombies is She's Not There, give it a listen.
Santana's version is epic.
@@kentmains7763 Yeah, Santana's cover is really good too. My brother-in -law is Cuban and wouldn't believe me that this wasn't Carlos's original song. Had the same argument over Fleetwood Mac's 'Black magic woman' too, he was incredulous that white Brits had written these songs in the 60's.
That's a really good recommendation. 👍
The Kinks, "You Really Got Me"
The keyboardist Rod Argent formed his own band post Zombies called "Argent". "Hold your head up" is a cool song to check out.
No 1 hit in UK
Great song! And a really good suggestion. 👍🤓
@@KirkFields Also, if you haven't already heard it...check out Sugarloaf "Green Eyed Lady".
Hey there.Get your ears around 'Tin Soldier' by another great brit band called The small faces.
Anything by the Kinks. America. The Guess Who. Three Dog Night. Janis Joplin. Sam Cooke. CCR. The songs are endless and all of the bands I've listed are wonderful.
BusStop by the Hollies is a great one from this era/ genre.
Steppenwolf- magic carpet ride. You will love this, E.
Love this old classic! (They also played it in The Conjuring). You could also do some Yardbirds (the band Jimmy Page was in before LZ), The Byrds (Eight Miles High, Turn Turn Turn), Buffalo Springfield (For What It's Worth, Expecting To Fly, Bluebird), Neil Young (Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River) , Crosby, Stills and Nash (Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Southern Cross, Carry On). So many great bands from that era. I've got lots more suggestions if you want them.
Nice selection of recommendations. I just suggested [CSN&Y's] Carry On and Suite: JBE as well. ✌️🤓
The Band,The Young Rascals, The Songs
How Can I be Sure
A Beautiful Morning
Groovin
Stevie Ray Vaughan -
"Texas Flood" live at the El Macombo. On my honor, you won't be disappointed.
👍
Back when the British Invasion was in full swing
A welcomed "invasion," of course. 👍🤓
Can you react to The Who and the Kinks and how bout the Rilling stones late 60’s and early 70’s...
Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today (LONG VERSION)
Everybody knows that Led Zeppelin is great, but there was so much incredible music in the 60's and 70's. I agree that you should expand your list of artists. A few suggestions, man it is so hard to narrow it down but here goes: "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" by Country Joe & the Fish, "Ball of Confusion" by The Temptations or "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire. Looking forward to more incredible songs. Good luck with your channel.
ah...a trip back through time...Love it.
If you just started on the 70's, you've got a long road of discovery! Argent's "Hold Your Head Up' and Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth."
Please do a track by track reaction of the whole 'Odessey and oracle' album, it's a totally classic 60's album, and every track is a stunner, so well produced and creative. The Zombies deserved to be as big as The Beatles and The Beach Boys but regrettably never got the commercial success at that time. Their album is more popular now than it was then, and is finally recognised as a true classic. Colin Blunstone is in his 70's now, but remarkably still touring (up until the pandemic halted live music ) with Rod Argent, the bands founder and keyboard player, and Colin can still hit every high note and sounds just as he did when he was in his 20's. There's not many other legends left that can still do that, the majority would lower the key.
I would love you to hear the Band, Wishbone Ash, The King Will Come. 1970's it will blow you away, i was in my teens ,still love it now.. Love your reactions by the way from the UK. Cheers.
not a lot of stop and starts, quality audio coming my way, intelligent remarks, love it.
In the Top 500 songs ever written for me.
I'm a letter Z fan in band names, ZOMBIES, L ZEPPLIN, ZZTOP... Rod Argent was great keyboardist and went on to play Hold Your Head Up in the band Argent.....
You should listen to this album from start to finish, it's an experience.
That whole album is amazing. I saw them on the mast show of their last reunion tour in London in 09 while studying abroad!
Very psychedelic, even myself being a product of the 80's; I can remember this song on the radio that my mom would listen to.
If you want to hear organs in rock try Deep Purple's Highway Star, Child In Time, etc.
Jackson Brown..Before the Deluge early 70's..Thee No Nikes Album is amazing toll
The Zombies will be on tour in USA October 2023!!!!!!
Time of the Season was iconic. That bassline is something else.
Check out Shocking Blue's Venus for a really groovy use of an electric organ.
The Zombies made the album in 1967 - they were the first band in Room #4 at Abbey Road after the Beatles made Sgt. Pepper. They are still touring and playing. I saw The Zombies last week on the On the Blue music cruise (end of January 2023). Do yourself a favor and see The Zombies in person!!! They still are as good as ever, maybe better!!
Great song brings back great memories please check out a song called crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James or a song called House of the rising sun by the Animals 🤘🤘🤘
The Organ player later had a band called Argent ...You should check out "Hold your head up" long version. She's not there by the Zombies is also cool. I also recommend the Guess who - No time and Undun .....Truly forgotten gems
when you get to it you'll hear John Paul Jones playing a similar Mellotron-type keyboard in the Zep track 'You Shook Me'.
something for you to look forward to...
peace (from the UK)
Nope it's nothing like a Mellotron on this track. This is a proper organ put through a Leslie speaker which rotated the sound. As well as keyboards, Leslie speakers were also often used to run guitars through and even vocals to create a psychedelic atmosphere, most famously by The Beatles who used them on lots of their tracks. Mellotrons were like early samplers but used magnetic tape loop recordings of wind and string instruments to simulate orchestral sounds. Though The Zombies did use one on other tracks on the 'Odessey and oracle' album, I believe it was the very same one The Beatles had used.
Cheers from the US! 👍🤓
Mamas and papas, California dreamin and deep purple.
Check out the Left Bank with 'Walk Away Rene' and 'Pretty Ballerina'.
Really popular in my grade school and Jr. High years! A classic! Definitely representative of that "hippie sound" we all loved!
Other iconic groups and songs - The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" and "LA Woman", The Allman Brothers Band "Whipping Post", and Grand Funk Railroad "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home". Emmanuel, you will not be sorry you expanded your reached and branched out into these songs...I promise! Enjoy the ride!
Doing a good job there bros, keep it up
It's the tune man awesome .
i noticed that you said that led zeppelin's "going to california" was a song that you really connected with ... so i'm recommending that you listen to blind faith's "can't find my way home," and procol harum's "a whiter shade of pale." both recorded in '68 or '69. i think they'll speak to you.
“Hush” by Deep Purple!!!!!!!
Hidden gems: "Sugar the Road" by Ten Years After. The b-side medley from the Steppenwolf the Second album. "3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds" by The Jefferson Airplane. "Station Man" by Fleetwood Mac. "I'm Crying" by The Animals. "I Ain't Done Wrong" by The Yardbirds.
I grew up in this era of music so I'm going to make a few odd suggestions. First, I would listen to "Crown of Creation" by Jefferson Airplane, this was a small hit by them, but it shows the musical experaments going on at the time. The second suggestion is "I Need a Man to Love" from Cheap Thrills by Janis Joplin. Blues meets rock. Finally, " Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones at their best. These songs were small hits for important bands, not the songs that were giant hits that everyone would push. I lived in northern Indiana, and my older brother and sister would listen to W.L.S. out of Chicago. The songs of this period would have been recorded on 4 and 8 track tape recorders, and the radio stations wouldn't play a song longer than 4 minutes, because of the way the stations formats were run. I love Led Zepplin, but don't listen to them to the detriment of other great bands. Blues rock, Folk rock, Prog rock, Funk, Glam rock, and Jazz Fusion were all born in this period between 1962 and 1970. It was a great time for music. Sorry I want on for so long, enjoyed your video.
Best Zombies songs - Care of Cell 44 and A Rose for Emily.
Have you heard "Rain" from the Beatles? First song with backwards recording. 1966.
You ask for suggestions. Well, it's been my experience that the folk who do these reaction videos tend to ignore suggestions but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I could give you literally 1000's (yes, literally) of suggestions but if I may I'll suggest a wee half dozen. The Who - 'Baba O'Riley' from the album 'Who's Next'. Queen - 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - the promo video version. Abba - 'Fernando' - promo video version. Pink Floyd - 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt 1' - from the album 'Wish You Were Here'. Yes - 'Wonderous Stories' - promo video version. The Rolling Stones - 'Gimme Shelter' - studio version. I would have also suggested The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix but the music of Jimi Hendrix has been copyrighted almost out of existence on this platform. Reactions to The Beatles tend to get blocked. Pathetic I know. If you don't do any of these suggestions then don't worry I won't bother you again. Hope you enjoy though.
Carry On, and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by CSN&Y (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young) will "make love (not war)" to your ears, mind, and senses. ✌️🤓
I haven't seen any reactions to "Summer in the City," by the Lovin' Spoonful yet. You might really like it.
Great reaction to a great song. 🙏
Status Quo - Pictures of Matchstick Men is one you need to listen to.
Along with Itchycoo Park by Small Faces...
New to your channel man. I dig your appreciation of the music from this era. I was still pretty young then but remember it fondly and have come to understand it’s significance in describing and defining that period when the world was changing for alot of people. If you liked this song, you also check out She’s not There another great Zombies hit from that time. ✌️
Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side
The keyboard is Rod Argent. Who later formed Argent with Russ Ballard (who wrote and sang) and did the original, God Gave Rock And Roll To You. Bet you thought it was those phoney's Kiss. The original is better. Try a reaction/comparison back to back.
You gotta listen to some The Mamas and The Papas
Tommy James. The Buckinghams. The Animals. Credence Clearwater Revival. The Byrds. The Turtles. Smokey Robinson. The Four Tops. The Temptations. All great bands with multiple great songs if you need a jumping off point into that era
The video for this song is cool too. Shows off all the beautiful women in classic 60's fashion. All those cute girls are grandmas now.
Two groovy songs from 1968 u should react to:
Paul Mauriat - Love Is Blue (instrumental)
Fifth Dimension - Aquarius / Let the Sun Shine In
I am surprised to see so little mention of Pink Floyd here. Their Dark Side of the Moon album was one of the biggest sellers of all time. Their music was experimental and unlike that of any other band.
Here's a few songs you may want to check out. The Who; 'Baba O'Riley', All the Young Dudes; Mott The Hoople, Fleetwood Mac; The Chain, The Byrds; Eight Miles High, Santana; Black Magic Woman, Steely Dan; Black Cow, Pink Floyd; Wish You Were Here and, finish with Janis Joplin; Cry Baby. That will keep you busy for a while!
Flute Thing: Sugarloaf 👂🍬
Grand Funk Railroad does a song called “Paranoid” that has some heavy guitar work. You should check it out sometime, it’s hard core. The studio version is best. ✌️New sub, love your channel.
Suggested 3 songs
Len Barry song 1,2,3 1965
R.B.Graves song Take a Letter Maria 1968
The Box Tops song Cry Like a Baby

Edit: I recommend the studio version of off the Phoenix album
Rainbow..stargazer
The acoustic musicians in that era deserve a respectful nod as well...Jim Croce -Photographs and Memories ,Cat Stevens - Father and Son ,Don McLean -Vincent..all beautiful storytellers.
Please listen to The Animals-"We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"
Try listening to Cream, one of the best British bands from the sixties. Pink Fairies are a seventies band with a difference.
One of the better British Invasion groups! Try out SRV and Double.
lines on my face by peter frampton live you will love it
If you want to hear more sixties type music you should try the Yardbirds that morphed into Led Zepplin that did a song with some real wild guitar work called Happenings Ten Years Time Ago and Fleetwood Mac original version of Black Magic Woman which also had some great guitar work. Neither one was much of a hit in the USA but they are a couple of real gems.
React to Peter Frampton
Frampton Comes Allive
Studio version recorded live
Joni Mitchell ' Help Me"
recorded version
I’m new to your reaction, can I suggest White Room by Cream - 1968
