I think showing the new car, long before it’s a reality, would have been a huge mistake. The Osborne Effect would surely kick in. The are smart to leave us guessing until it’s closer to being manufactured.
You’re quite right. Just feeling my daughters’ frustration too much ;). Want them so much to have what I’ve enjoyed for the past 5 years and they so much want it too!

It seems like so many were disappointed that a next model wasn’t revealed in this presentation. But Tesla would be foolish to show off a stylish smaller car that’s coming when no other American company has done it either. Taking that much expense (~50%) out of an existing car - and still having something left that people can drive, and that they will be interested in buying - is a real challenge. To me, this was quite an eye opener, and it will be fun to watch this company - and the competition- evolve in the coming years.

And I’ve been agreeing with everything you and other CZcamsrs have said , such a monumental presentation that showed in every presentation how far Tesla is compared to the 100 year old stodgy way of Detroit big wig based thinking that has been ingrained in us all these years. And yes I was disappointed in not seeing the new design but I completely understand, and look forward to it. And I have to say, IMO , the whole Apple Keynote style that they did simply showed everyone how great and powerful the company is , for the few people who still believe that Tesla is still merely a EV startup, lightyears away from the humble beginnings of them hand building Roadsters…
I guess in some ways, it's like watching a kid grow up and refusing to accept that they have reached adulthood and are making great strides in life. Some people will always see them as the 'little child'. Tesla is no longer the little kid growing up, but is the industry leader - and for many people that's a hard thing take in.
Now if only Tesla could do something about their stock. Seems like every time they do major announcements, it drops like a rock. And please Elon let us transfer FSD (for a small fee). I want a newer Tesla with the design changes but I refuse to pay $15,000 for FSD or pay for it via the subscription model.
It’s that ‘street expectations’ thing that does it. People expect much more. In this case - they wanted the gen 3 reveal. And I fully agree on the ability to transfer from vehicle to vehicle as you sell and repurchase a Tesla. Only makes sense. Time to do another episode on that :)
