Hello from America.
Love your realistic videos and how you handle the minor roadblocks you experience. The same issues most people run into the first time.
Go for a short ride, your filter will fill up with oil and you won’t be overfilled anymore.
Hey !!! Thanks for tuning in from over the pond 🙂 appreciate that mate, I'm just trying to keep it real.
I gave it a quick ride afterwards and it ended up being perfect ! Thank you. I always forget to mention things when I'm filming 🤣
Thanks heaps for the support 🤙
Hey Matt! I had to watch your video again! I still cracked up laughing when you removed the oil filter and it went flying, then when you filled the oil to fast and it spilled all over the place. Haha I really believe you're on your way to being an awesome vlogger and more fun watching than most all people on CZcams!!! Someone mentioned you passing MDB... I have felt that way for a while now! You are someone that is real, personable, and funny as heck! Once again... Keep up the awesome job you're doing!!! John...
Hey John, hahaha glad you enjoyed it that much mate ! Thank you.
I am abit special I must say... not the sharpest tool in the shed 🤣
Thank you for the kind words, that's a massive statement !!!! & compliment.
Appreciate the support as always 🤙
That’s another good one mate I was pissing myself laughing. I’ve done the same thing hard to do it on the ground and I’m a mechanic but I do use torque wrenches keep doing what you doing mate I enjoy it
Haha cheers Greg, glad you enjoyed it mate ! I was laughing at myself when editing 😅 gotta be able to right 🤣
Thanks for watching 🤙
Hey Matt! Something else I wanted to tell you... is how great it is that you respond to everyone's comments!!! I have made comments on other CZcamsr's video's and I don't know if they even read them. You always respond to everyone's comments...I know because I read them all!! This is what separates you from the rest of the CZcamsrs!!! You're a special guy and all your followers can see that in you!!! Can't wait until other people experience the awesome job you do making your video's One of your biggest supporters!!! John...
Hey John, thanks for noticing ! I really do try and take the time out of my day for people supporting me. It's the least I can do mate. Thanks again for all the kind words 🤙
when filling oil back up you have to remember there is still oil in the oil lines and various other nooks and crannies in the motor. A service manual also helps brother.
Thanks mate, I swear my brain stops working when I'm filming lol. On my last service I half filled my filter and this time I forgot... but it worked in my favour lol !
Yeah the manual said 2.8... but apparently should only be doing 2.5 due to as you said motor and other parts still holding oil ! Live ya learn hahaha. One of my many special moments 🤣🤣 I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed
I've done the 3 oil change plenty of times. But i had to watch. You crack me up. Keep up the good work.
@craiggrech7434 haha thanks mate ! I appreciate you watching. Glad you enjoyed it 😅🤣
Funniest vlog so far, it's better to try and fail than not try, even though you didn't fail. Keep going like this and you're pass MDB, we'll done outlaw man😁😆👌👍😉🇬🇧
Haha thank you, really glad you enjoyed it ! That's a bloody good point. I'll always give it a crack. The more I do it the easier it gets right ? Haha (maybe.... 🤣)
Thank you for the support 🧡🖤🤙
Makes me want to book mine in at harley for its next service haha, never lose ya sense of humour big fella, haha love it. Well done on saving on the coin and learning along the way.
Hahaha, definitely the easier option 😅
Thanks dad I appreciate it, gotta be able to have a laugh right! 😅 thanks for the support 🧡🖤🤙
Awsome video, misso cracked herself laughing with the jokes, loved it bro, can't wait for more
Thanks bro !!!! Haha glad you guys had a laugh and enjoyed the vlog 😁
Appreciate the support 🧡🖤
Awesome mate,
Just grabbed some oils for my first home service. I actually learnt a bit from this, so thanks man. 😂😂😂😂 You and all your bloody spills, finger jams ect…..
Cheers mate, just keeping it as real as possible. Oh hell yeah, glad I could help 😅 learn from my mistakes 😉🤣
Oh my hands love it apparently haha
Thanks for watching, appreciate it 🤙
Watching and listening to you do things to your bike is like watching myself do them, minus the Australian accent!!!
Hahaha, mate I'm just happy I'm not the only one 🤣 thanks for watching mate. Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Matt for your videos, love your transparency and humility. So funny when you get triggered, you should do an engine rebuild video, take care mate.
You're welcome ! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Haha just trying to keep it as real as possible.
Rebuild an engine !!!!! Could you imagine me trying to do that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Check dipstick marks, some say Hot and bike upright or Hot when bike on sidestand.A great video Mate, l am 70, worked in auto shop for 8 years but still spill shit all over. I save all my cardboard for just such occasions and remember if you cannot laugh at yourself you don't deserve to laugh at others.Your confidence has grown in the production aspects of your video and it will come from the mechanical side as well.Don't beat yourself up, your doing a great job and so follow your heart and carry on.
Thanks heaps mate, really appreciate the positive words and support. I always forget to keep my bloody cardboard boxes. Would of been a lot cleaner !!! Haha. Thanks for watching 🤙
Well done young for having a crack at this yourself Matt.
Thanks mate, appreciate you watching 🤙
TORX bolts is what the bolts in the derby cover are called mate. Bit of a worry that primary plug was so loose. 👍
Ahhh cheers mate, yeah it was very odd... wasn't leaking though which was lucky !
Hey Matt! I enjoyed your 3 hole oil change! It must feel good to do your own maintenance on your Fat Bob! You saved yourself some money and learned some new things about your Fat Bob! Overall... You did a good job! I felt bad for you when you over filled the oil and it came running over your hands and engine. Hope you get a chance to go out for a ride when it's not raining! Can't wait for your next video! John...
Hey John, thanks mate I appreciate it. It does feel bloody good once it's all done and the bike starts and runs hahaha.
Thank you, it's all apart of it right ! I learnt alot and will be easy next time.
Cheers mate, and thanks for watching 🤙
You can cut up an old 1.25L coke bottle and stick it under the filter mate. Cut the bottom off it…and use a long socket extension through the cap end of the bottle and undo everything ‘into’ the bottle. And overflow can run out the cap,end of the bottle into a pan. 👍
Ahh that's a good idea... feel abut silly but in the moment I don't really think I just trying and get it done haha. Live and learn I guess. Cheers for the tips !
That's a really smart idea, thank you again for the support 🙏
Just wanting to throw this out there before you drain anything (incase you haven't)
Measure engine oil when its on the side stand without your wooden chocks....
You'll probably find the level was bang on ;)
Cheers mate, already did drop some. I totally forgot about it being on the wood and also the oil filter being empty !! 🤣
After a short ride I checked it and it was perfect. (Thankfully) haha
Thanks mate, I appreciate it 🙏
Love your work and calm as bro
Thanks doorman ! Haha totally calm 😅
Appreciate that filter tool too... came in handy 🤙
lol your BEST video's when you working on your bike !
Haha thank you, glad you enjoy my moments 🤣
Thanks for watching 🤙
Cracking video again mate had a bloody good laugh at your expense.
Hahaha cheers mate ! Glad you enjoyed it 🤙
Jack of all trades master of none! 🤣
Hahaha bro !!! That's me 100% 🤣
Cheers
Feeling your pain, but i still laughed my head off. Well done😅😅😅😅
Hahaha cheers, thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it ! 😅
The oil filter should hold some oil, start the bike then recheck the level
Thanks mate, it did drop after I went for a squirt around the block. I totally forgot to half fill the oil filter too... I'm such a rookie lol. The level is perfect thankfully!
Cheers for watching 🧡🖤🤙
You rock brother!! Don't ever change. You are a legend. Thank you for you're great v-logs. Cheers 🍻 Tone 🤙🇦🇺🤙🪽🪽
Thanks mate !! Really appreciate that. Glad you're enjoying the vlogs 🧡🖤
@Gnarly_Harley No worries, Matt, you remind me of myself. I try to do things and stuff. It's always a battle because things go wrong. To the point, I now calling myself, "the blunder from down under" lol 😆 😂 You still do a hell of job better than me. 🤪👍🏽😊🤙🪽🇦🇺🍻💙
@anthonyemmett4585 hahaha glad I'm now the only one mate !!! What a crack up. As long as be can have a laugh at ourselves thats all that matters 🤣
@@Gnarly_Harley yep. That's it. I'm always laughing at myself. 🤙😀🍻🪽🇦🇺🍻💙
Nice work mate 👍
Thanks mate, appreciate it !
Big G'day from Melbourne..
May all your days be Harley days🖤🧡🖤
Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾🐾🇦🇺
Thanks legend ! Really appreciate the support as always mate. Ride safe and keep it upright 🧡🖤
Fkn laughed my ass off watching this. I feel like you're very similar to me. I get triggered so easily and even though I watch all this stuff on YT and understand it, when it comes to do it for some reason in my head I make it out to be harder than it is and manage to do some dumb shit and that just gets me going.
Picked up my '15 Fat Bob yesterday and aiming to do pretty much exactly this service with the addition of brake fluid ASAP so I know everything is fresh.
Loving your vids mate, makes me want to try do some of this kind of thing myself!
Hahaha cheers mate just trying to keep it as real as possible!!!! I do get abit triggered... everyone makes everything look so easy and it's not reality hahaha.
Congratulations on the bike also... spoiler alert. Shhhhh. I'm doing a brakes flush as I reply to you lol. Will be out Friday night 🤙🧡🖤
@Gnarly_Harley legend! I'll probably be grabbing stuff on Sat to do mine so will be good to have another vid to check out first !
the next time you do sevice you have the cleening kit for the air filter and the gear you didn't have before so it will cheaper
Good point mate ! And it will take me half the amount of time next time haha.
Thanks for watching 🤙
Great job mate...
Thanks mate, got there in the end hahaha
Thouraly enjoying your videos I haven't been able too face the camera yet myself lol .
Thanks mate, really appreciate the support hey ! Yeah I still get anxiety in front of the damn thing 😅
Well done Grasshopper 👍👍👍☠️
Haha, cheers mate ! Appreciate it 🤙
Definitely worthwhile having a dig yourself!
(Rainy weather is perfect for doing your service! 😂)
One day when you're fed up bashing knuckles (like myself too) and you wanna save a few swear words, you'll pay someone.
Don't worry, even Harley techs can overfill your oil mate!
You'll know about it when you've collected your bike andits squirting through the air cleaner on the motorway 😅
Well done on getting the 3 holes done. ✔️
PS. Noticed the scowl is gone, now that you've dropped HogLights in.
Haha thanks bro, always an interesting venture working on my own bike 🤣🤣
Yeah that's it bro, one day !!!!
Holy demon, I really hope that never happens bro !!!
Yeah bro, sad time but these lights look sick without the angry lids so all good haha. Cheers for watching bro 🤙
Bruvvvv. The old service ayyy from a mechanic to a professional legend that green tool (star looking thing) is called a TORQ KEY or TORQ bit. The more you know!!
Jamie !!! Haha thanks bro, I've always called it a "star key thingy". Hahaha
Well I learn something knew ever day. Thank you. Appreciate the support as always 🧡🖤🤙
Too funny matt , practice makes perfect mate , servicing a bike with minimal experience is like playing who wants to be a millionaire, sometimes u gotta phone a friend lol
Ps technically by changing your spark plugs makes it a five hole service lol
Haha cheers scrote ! Appreciate it mate. Yeeeah, it's the same but totally different to servicing a car... 🤣 sort of haha
Thanks for watching as always 🧡🖤
Best comment!!!!!
@Scrote69A 🤣 true!!!! Whoops. Too many holes for me to handle apparently 🤣
Check the battery in fob if you use one.
It has a new battery in the fob. And still does it randomly.... not sure why. Very weird
Told by Harley mechanic put about 500ml of oil and turn motor over quickly, don’t start it. This will fill the oil filter which will give you an accurate reading of oil level once you put the required amount in.
Ahhh yep, like one click of the ignition to turn the motor over sort of thing ? That's very good to know. Thanks mate.
Thanks for supporting the channel also 🤙
Shit that was entertaining, really enjoyed the vid. Keep up the great work & never change! Only the oil haha
Thanks Aaron, glad you enjoyed it bro ! Thank you for the support, I'll make sure I keep being myself & having fun 🤙
Hahaha definitely 😅
Well done mate!! i always been thinking about doing my fatbob! now watching you i am going to give it ago my self!! how much did it all cost you to do it your self?? cheapher than $350??
Thanks mate, I did enjoy it afterwards... very satisfying and was actually easy ! knowing I saved a good amount of money too is great. Think it was $300 on the dot roughly. But I got extra bits (funnels etc)
Hey Matt another great vid, change your battery in fob lithium 2032 button batt available in woollies or Cole’s cheers mate keep going kel and Louise Brisbane
Hey kel & lou, thank you I appreciate it. Oh okay awesome I'll give that a go. Idk what battery I put in... this it was some energizer or something.
Thanks for the support as always 🧡🖤🤙
You can drop your old oil off at super cheap auto at no cost and they will recycle it cheers bud kel
@kelvindavis7060 oh that's right !!!! Haha thank you, I totally forgot they had that service. Cheers kel
Cut an old milk carton and place it under the oil filter with the cap still on and you won’t have oil all over the bike and you and the f-king floor lol cheers kel
@@kelvindavis7060 hahaha, good call ! Thanks kel
good first effort, the reason the oil was higher on the dipstick was the oil hadn't made it into the filter with the bike running the oil filter fills up and the levels correct themselves. but don't bikes, trucks, cars and trains run so much better with clean oil. A point about syn v mineral I have always been a mineral guy because of the longer distances I travel if I need to top up oil in a remote place the chances of mineral oil being available are greater than syn and you can't mix the two, it is a preference for me. Good job young fella the pride you had in doing it yourself plus you saved 260_280 in coin... more cash for a run now keep up the vlogs and less political correctness, we know what a tranny is Matt its a important part of your bike and that's all.
Hey David, mate in the moment my brain just stops working I swear... I forgot to half fill my oil filter and I also forgot the motor doesn't fully drop the oil ! Supposedly meant to only put in 2.5L taking that into account... anyway all worked out well hahaha
Ahhhhh I seen! Very good points mate I never thought of that. I'll keep that in mind !
I dont even know what pc is 😉😂
Haha that's exactly right David
I may have missed it but did put some oil in the filter before install? With the transmission oil i never use synthetic good old dinosaur oil.
Hey mate, I literally forgot this time !!! That's okay... helped drop the oil level from me over filling it 🤣 worked out well. Oh okay, good to know. I'll do abit more research on what to use. Apparently synthetic handles heat better ? I'm always getting told different s**t so I'm confused on the matter.
Thanks for watching 🤙
Hahaha what a crack up. I only laugh because when you were “triggered” that’s me 15 years ago 🤣. Chill bloke walk away and cool down. Come back with a calm mind and it will all make sense. The engine oil will seem higher then it should but when you run it some will stay in galleries some will stay in the oil filter. 🤘🏼 or save some money and save some stress and mess and give her to the mechanics 👌🏼
Haha, glad you enjoyed it ! Yeeeah I'm getting better at controlling my emotions 🤣 I think... I did think that and also I forgot the oil filter was completely empty so that sucked up a good amount and all was good afterwards thankfully haha.
The more I do it the easier it will be next time right ? 😅
Thanks for watching 🤙
Brother if it get's really hot there just run that gear oil in the primary as well.
They did mentioned that at harley actually ! They just recommend that one so I got it. Does that gear oil do better in heat ?
since i have one of those dealers that tries and sell you the moon when not needed, i went with a harley tech's advise. the dealer said all that will be to thick i laughed and said you better read your bulletin updates, it is not to thick, hell with in 2 miles it is water anyway but yeah it smoothed that clutch out, and shifting clunks were not as loud. Ride on Brother!
@@Gnarly_Harley
@biggun1450 oh wow, that's definitely something I'll look into then. Thanks mate
We all get angry when we don't get the three hole right
Hahaha yes sir ! We sure do 🤣🤣
Get down to Tasmania. Summer weather is perfect for riding and the roads are top notch
@tonythorpe8599 mate, It's definitely on my bucket list. Really hoping I can get down there sometime
It’ll get easier every time you do it mate. Definitely invest in a torque wrench. You never no when 2 she’ll be rights might be “ oh fuck I’ve rooted that”
Thanks mate, I appreciate that. I'm sure next time I'll nail it haha (maybe).
A few people have said that now, I think ill grab one ! I'd hate to strip a bolt for the oil pan or even the spark plug... youre right.... would be very bad haha !
Thanks for watching 🤙
What helmets that get hassles for novelty ones in perth😉
Sorry, what do you mean haha ?
@@Gnarly_Harley what helmet ya wearing it looks cool I had a bushranger for years but ya can get fined and loose points over here.the 1 I got now looks like a bobble head😁
@mickrose6450 oh haha sorry mate. Wearing the johnny reb open face and the 120th anniversary full face helmet.
Seriously !!! That's ridiculous... police fine you for anything now days
@@Gnarly_Harley thanks Matty 👊🍻
Hahaha near pissed myself watching you get the oil filter off …….oh and for future reference, half fill your oil filter before you put it on mate…
You needed a couple of beers, and a noisy big arse fan……oh and it will be higher until you run it and fill the oil filter up….good job though mate, great to someone learning👍
Your plugs will have a specific amount of turns after finger tight to set the crush washer correctly, most brand plugs will have a picture that says like half a turn or a third of turn past finger tight…..
Hahaha... I was honestly being lazy 🤣 next time I'll undo the gear lever 😅
Mate !!! I totally forgot haha. I did do that last time but totally didn't cross my mind this time. Ahhh yeah, they should be fine though right ? Gave them 2 she'll be rights hahaha. Cheers for the advise, I appreciate it ! Definitely something to keep in mind for next time 🤙
@@Gnarly_Harley should be right, but make sure you check oil level after you have run it for a little bit, you might have to put some back in as the oil filter will take up to half a litre to fill👍
@AusJase Yeah that's very true mate, Good point. I did take it for a spin after filming and it was spot on. So I'm pretty stoked with that. Glad I didn't risk it though 😅
Hey bud , I carry on worse than u haha. Do all the plugs up FT (fkn tight) nah you did a ripper job, just ease up on the anti sneeze😂😂
Haha well I'm glad I'm not the only one !!! 🤣 thanks mate, yeeeah bloody shot out at me. "She'll be right" 🤣
Thanks for the support 🧡🖤🤙
bro funniest shit.
Haha, thanks bro !!!
Save , yourself some money as well. Good job , now go do a jelly donut hole
That's it mate ! Especially in these times... far out, save money any chance I can. Thanks for watching
😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gnarly, stick to the cafes and do some burger reviews, because mate, you need to put the spanners down, ok?
Hahaha cheers mate ! Food is my friend... spanners not so much, although I do enjoy the satisfaction knowing I did it myself afterwards 😅
But sticking to food sounds like a better plan! Cheers for the support 🧡🖤
oil change step one : find a big piece of cardboard and put it under the bike .
Uno what.... I actually had a box sitting next to the bin ! Good to remember for next time. Thanks for watching
Get yourself a cheap to torque wrench brother you don’t want to strip any threads…. You’ll really loose your shit then
Yeah thats true, I was informed not to over tighten the spark plugs. Definitely need to invest in one though. I would be very triggered if I did that 🤣 I think the fatbob would be in the bin haha
Cheers mate
Honestly, you are wasting your money buying Harvey Danielson branded oils.
5/8 is the socket you should be using.
Torx key. I recommend a set of torx keys & allen keys with T handles for the workshop.
Drain plugs should be 15ft/lb. Not sure metric. (Personally, I only do it by feel)
Deby cover "Gasket"
Hahahahahahahahahaha
Oil filter hand tight & then 1/8 of a turn with ratchet.
1 US gallon = 3.785 litres
1 quart is 1 quarter of a gallon
You can put in 2 litres, wait a minute, check the dipstick. Top up another 1/2 litre. Check again.etc etc
Spark plug hand tight plus 1/4 turn of ratchet
Belt drive tension check should be part of all services too. Also check tyres, fork seals, steering head bearings, rear shocks, swing arm bushes etc
Thanks for all the info mate, really appreciate it ! A lot to learn that's for sure haha. The more I do it the better I'll get. (Hopefully)
You'll be right@@Gnarly_Harley At least you're having a crack
