- uncomfortable truth - lip fillers don't make you look prettier.
we’ve been sold the lie that small or thin lips are ugly. and that if we want to look pretty, we need to get big lips, whatever it takes. look at kylie jenner! the cast of basically any reality show ever, and basically every influencer or celebrity ever! they’ve all got lip fillers. lip fillers have been so normalised, that people get them as often as they cut their hair. grab a cappuccino, get some lip filler. it’s no big thing right? WRONG. lip filler can have some nasty side effects, and yet these aren’t really being spoken about. and besides that point, we’re not all SUPPOSED to have big lips. while big lips look amazing on those who have them naturally, big lips don’t necessarily suit everyone. not to mention the over filled lip craze - wtf is that all about?
repeat after me: bigger isn’t always better. and lip fillers have a dark truth that most people don’t know about. its time to UN-normalise lip filler, and embrace our natural lips. our bodies are intelligent things, and our lip shape (generally speaking) is a reflection of our unique heritage and ancestry. so if the beauty standards have got you feeling like you're not good enough, or not pretty enough, or like you need to change something about yourself to fit in - take a look at your own ancestry. it might just change the way you see yourself.

When I was a kid, like 9 or 10, I was DETERMINED to have liposuction, a BBL, and lip filler when I grew up. And I'm so happy I never went through with it.
Gee that so young to have those feelings! So glad you no longe feel the need. Our society has a lot to answer for! ❤️
really sad you felt the need to change your body when you were so young 🥺❤️ body peace and love to you my friend
9 and 10?! Damn
I finally had lipo on my upper & lower abdomen when I was 33 to get rid of the genetic pooch I inherited from my grandma. Even at age 16, 5'2", 105 pounds, I was thin everywhere except my stomach. 🤨
It was the single most painful thing I have ever experienced. And the surgeon scraped nice little ripples in my stomach. I wish I had never gotten liposuction. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Most traumatic thing I've ever voluntarily done to my bod. I'm 60 & love my body, fat, ripples, jowls, & all. Know that you made the right choice.❤
I had the same feeling about liposuction. Kudos to you for recognizing those procedures may not be for you.
I think one of my biggest issues with these procedures is that women are all kind of starting to look the same. It’s weird. I think individuality and uniqueness are really beautiful, personally.
I AGREE!!!!! Everyone gets the same nose, lips and body…
Absolutely agree, like barbies of a conveyer belt in a store.. all the same... xx
I notice that everyone getting a rhinoplasty has the same nose
Dw, us broke people will always be unique
I swear i can't even differentiate 90% of influencers all over the internet. All have same lips and nose and i wonder why I don't have that nose? 50% of them look like Ariana Grande now.
The fact people think that Kylie lips were real is still so mind boggling people were really online arguing that it was lip liner
Shows how ignorant people are. I remember have real life arguments with people about that asking them how is it possible they can be a real adult who is that naive. Especially when Kylie comes from a family who ain't scared of the needle.
I don’t know. There’s still people arguing that she grew 10 inches of hips out of nowhere. Seriously shows how ignorant people are about anatomy and what natural bodies look like.
Thank you for the jam packed slide show! So many beautiful examples
@@nitely2345which now simply vanished cause skinny is back in
@@angevin6679 Agreed! It’s so bizarre how she’s able to gaslight the whole world like that. Tho I don’t even feel like skinny skinny is back in I feel like they just realized how ridiculously exaggerated they looked and decided to tone it down. If anything this is more accurate to what Kylie’s natural body would be like if she never got it surgically altered. She had a slim, athletic build, and was generally thin. I think Kim had a weird epiphany when she put on Marilyn’s dress and it didn’t fit her, maybe she realized how overboard she went when the poster girl for curvy bodies was way thinner and more naturally built than her. Marilyn is proof that we don’t need huge boobs/butts/tiny waists to be curvy and beautiful. And we don’t need to be super slim and have flat stomachs either. It’s why I find her so interesting.
The worst is it only looks nice with make up and certain camera shots and lighting. In person looks like something's really wrong. And hell, it is 💀

The bigger and more full the natural lips are, the more specific wrinkles will show up, it's just how the skin texture of the mouth area works. Unnaturally full lips don't have that, on the contrary they take away wrinkles, trust me you can tell very easily irl, especially when the person speaks.

Wooorrddd
It’s hilarious to me that we look at old Victorian fashion and say “ugh why would women go through all that trouble of wearing bone corsettes just to look skinny??” And here women are injecting crap into their face all the time just to look like a cartoon
Bone corsets weren't for looking skinny, they were for boob support. Once bras were invented corsets were out. Yes a handful of women would tighten them to stupid degrees, but the average woman didn't. Even now corsets are still amazing for back support and a smooth figure.
@@FreePigeon No, corsets were never for health reasons, which is obvious from how the silhouettes changed every few years with new fashion trends. Look at the unnatural S-shaped corset of the 1880s for the so-called “New Figure” vs previous corsets (restrictive but upright) and later corsets (less restrictive, more natural silhouette).
I really think that women who talking about "crazy old beauty standards" in our modern day society where almost every influencer is a living promotion for plastic surgery (sometimes a deadly one like BBL) are coping
@@sissyfussYeah but almost all of the corsets still provided back/breast support? I’m confused why the silhouette changing means none of them are for health. People with back issues still use corsets. I’ve even heard it’s better coverage than a bra.
Great point so true.
Kylie is 26, looks like 46. The same all other influencers that started procedures too early in life. How will she look in her 40's? Like 80? Embrace your natural beauty. :)
If she didn’t look her mother as she currently is after all her treatments, she’s really starting to look like her now.
She has aged herself…
These treatments have a limit, and if you start young, more times you have to go and get the treatment again cause skin of the face drops with time and fillers migrate to other parts of the face. She is not going to loke good in the future, and she will fell miserable.
yall deluting yourself so hard, she doesn't look 46
it also creates unrealistic standards on age now. everyone who is “natural” is assumed to be so much younger because of celebrities who look 46 when they’re 26
Her lips actually made her a biillionaire. Who cares if she looks older? it's better than looking natural and young but be poor and not happy about your life

Even when you look at Khloe, she looked so much prettier with her natural features. Now she can barely emote. All these people have frozen faces, and it isn’t healthy. Remember, people, aging is HEALTHY and normal. Dying young is not, nor is never physically emoting simply because you’ve overfilled your face and used too many neurotoxins. Just like too much filler can deform your face, overuse of neurotoxins can cause your facial muscles to atrophy due to lack of use.
I think we just see soooo much of it online that people genuinely start to find it pretty. I think it's kinda like fashion trends. Only, it's not like clothes you can just take off when you're done with them, this is YOUR BODY you're doing this too.

I am tellllling you the thing about filler never dissolving is a FACT … I got a little bit of lip filler when I was 25, and it was a little lumpy, my boyfriend was not a fan of the look, and it hurt a lot, so I never got more filler. I’m now about to turn 30, and there is still definitely some filler/scar tissue in there to this day. It doesn’t look bad, but my lips are forever changed
There are videos on CZcams showing CAT scans off women with migrated filler 12 years after they had it placed. I totally believe you!
I did 2cc in 2017, and even though it got smaller really fast, it never got to how it was before. They definitely dont dissolve as announced
Not true I got mine done about 5 years ago and never got them dissolved. My lip filler is all gone.
@@fatpinkteddy good for you but we literally have proof that filler do not always dissolve, 20 years later some people still have fillers around their mouth and you probably do too but not enough to be visible
@fatpinkteddy yeah it’s gone somewhere else in your face 💀 it migrates, it never completely disappears
You are literally heightening my confidence thank you lol. But really this is so interesting and informative. Love your videos!
im asian and was born with big lips and a flat nose and i've been so insecure about it. ive been wanting a nose job ever since i was 11 years old and only recently did i look up how to get smaller lips and stumbled on your video. when you described why different people have bigger lips or noses because of our ancestry it really helped me appreciate myself more. it made me actually be grateful for what i have because it all makes sense why we are born they way we are. i guess as humans, we are never happy in our own skin and i really wish to love myself and not compare to all the social media stars.
I love all the different kinds of unique beauty around the world. I grew up in a town with people from everywhere, it's so dull when everyone looks the same.
No, it’s not that humans are naturally unhappy in our own skin - it’s societal pressure put on others, to become such.
This is not some innate chronic issue, all humans are destined to experience.
This is, very much, manufactured.
Just like the crap that is injected.

Wow! You just opened my eyes on this topic. The things that you said at the end of the video about people's features and different climates are SO new to hear. Thank you❤
right?!! i was like mind blown 😭😭
Right? It was such a nice new thing to know!
I just turned 40 n have been growing out my grey hair n I love it. No filler or Botox either. I have always refused to conform to "beauty standards" n I enjoy looking like the rest of my family. Ladies n gents you are beautiful the way you were born ❤❤❤
I spent years in school getting spray tans because I’m a pale reed head and people were into tanning back then and would make fun of my skin. Now that I’m 30 and I know my heritage somewhat, I love my skin. I keep it pale. I don’t get spray tans anymore because they don’t look right on me. I protect my skin from the sun and I wear it proudly because this is all from my heritage from Scotland and England. And it’s meant to absorb as much sun as possible for the cooler climates
I also used to tan after getting made fun of for being pale my whole life, but after getting skin cancer at 30 I stopped. I have embraced my pale skin as well, but the kp I kept at bay by tanning has gotten much worse in my old age, but I remind myself that it could be much worse and make a choice to count the good and ignore the bad.❤❤❤
That’s funny bc I’m naturally tan/olive toned and I was obsessed with trying to breach my skin as a kid…
The universal sign of beauty is clear skin. Glow no matter what shade you were born with. ✨
I think trump must use spray tan as he often looks orangey in the press photo.
@@Ukie88I have heard that he uses henna/cassia mixture… as henna is a natural 💯 sunblock he is then able to stand in long hours in full sun during his events with out ANY sunburn. His mom was born in Scotland and he inherited her very light skin. I am same and have found henna/cassia is the only thing that stops sunburn. Notice he never ever has hyper pigmentation or sunburn.
ever since my ex talked about how Kylie Jenner is his crush and his "ideal woman" looks wise, i used to feel weird about myself, because we don't share the same facial features at all. especially with the beautiful women all over instagram and tiktok, i've been feeling insecure over my features and "disconnected" from today's beauty standards. Thank you.
I will NEVER understand why "men" (in quotes because I mean grown ass, immature little boys) like your ex go for women who aren't their type and feel the need to complain about who THEY chose, and have the AU-FUCKING-DACITY to make it your problem. I stg every time I listen to what specific types of men (like your ex) have to say, the quality of my life diminishes.

Glad he's your ex now. I find the less time I spend on social media the more comfortable and happy I am with my looks. Sure there are things I still want to work on, like being more fit, but I'm not tearing myself apart bc all these girls got work done and I look normal. I highly recommend you spend less time online looking at that stuff. You will feel MUCH better. I promise :)
Thanks for stopping me from getting them done! Always wanted them done but right before I do it I always come across videos like this and decide against it lol
every video you do is really great. thanks for all the effort you put in!
I got mine done one time about a year ago. I regret it so much I have a scar tissue mark on my top lip now and it barely lasted two months. I will never get them again I regret it all the time!! I embrace my thin upper lip now 😂 Also I just want to thank you Stephanie for grounding us all the time I love your content❤ I think you genuinely give girls confidence out there!
if your lower lip is larger than your upper lip, it means that you are an ideal among the ancient Greeks (they have excellent taste when it comes to natural beauty). The upper small lips, which are shaped like a mountain of a heart, add charm to the lips. Small lips add charm and enhance facial features!
That's also an ideal I many African countries!
BTW, HA filler doesn't always completely dissappear. Make sure to check if it hasn't just migrated and what can be done
As someone with small lips, all I can say is embrace your "imperfections". We're all made to look different and unique and this trend of everyone getting the same procedures to look the same only creates boring visuals. I'm a huge fan of all the features that make our faces interesting and beautiful, be small lips or big noses.
Thanks for always warning and informing everyone to the dangers and risks associated with plastic surgeries!
It makes me sad whenever I see before pics of Kylie. She was honestly such a cutie! She now just looks like a fembot. 😢
I’ve said before and I’ll keep saying it…I wish we could all just be ok living in our natural bodies.
I was an idiot who hated my nose and got rhinoplasty. Worst thing I ever did. Didn’t give me the nose I wanted and the doc cut the muscle between my upper lip and nose so now my smile is completely gone. The upper lip stays flat and makes it look odd. If you look at Jennifer Aniston or Carrie Underwood, when they were younger compared to now, their smiles are like that too. It just looks unnatural. Wish it was something I never did!!
I have naturally big lips, and I remember getting made fun of for it when I was a kid. I hated them, but my mom and teachers would tell me “people pay good money for lips like yours.” I thought it was BS at the time, but omg they weren’t kidding.
This is the single best video/commentary on why you SHOULD NOT get your lips done, thank you Stephanie🙌🏼
i was bullied for years for my thin lips, and i got lip filler once, but i’m at the point now where my fillers have faded and i realize that i love my natural lips. i think natural lips always look better than puffed out lips.
You are naturally stunning girl! Seriously gorgeous hair as well xx
I thought fillers never go away 🤔🧐😂
Filler slowly dissolves with time, and usually it migrates around the face as well.
And i was bullied for having big, fuller lips😂
I used to hate my lips but later i realized how beatiful it makes me looks bc it actually suits my face structure.
We are like two sides of the same coin.
@@sagekay9121 idk, i don’t notice em anymore 🤔
I have average sized lips and this trend doesn’t work on everyone. It was meant for older women who lost volume in their lips and want some back (like my roommate, and it looks good on her but it’s very painful and expensive). But if you’re in your teens or 20’s and worried about your lips being too thin, your lips are perfect the way they are! In the 00’s thin lips were in and all the emo girls had them and they looked cute. ❤
I was thinking of getting some for assymetry but I changed my mind too risky
So, now we know that lip fillers, like any injectable beauty treatment, comes with a note of caution. What about treatments like microneedling or (like what I get every other month) nano-needling over the lips? These treatments are intended to build collagen via tiny injuries to the skin, forcing the skin to rebuild its' own collagen, right?
Have any of you tried micro- or nano-needling to build fullness in your lips? Would these therapies be a safer alternative to injected fillers?
Note: Nano-needling is the same therapy as microneedling except the aesthetician doesn't penetrate the skin as deeply.
Also I get nano-needling over my entire face, neck and chest to help rebuild collagen since I'm aged 41. I've had it done a few times over my lips but I haven't done it consistently enough to see changes.
@@asc.k1865same here (thankfully, I'm not trying to change my lip size). I do love the results of microneedling to this point though and I plan to continue with it.
@@asc.k1865 have you noticed any difference yet from the lip treatments?

I'd love Stephanie to do my makeup ❤
I’m a white girl that was born with big lips and the amount of teasing and harassment I went through as a kid at school in the 80’s was terrible. Back then the beauty standard was small lips. I hated my lips. Imagine being older now and everyone trying to get big lips. I may go parade around my big lips at my next high school reunion 😂😂😂.
Same here but I went to school in the 2000s, so I think a lot of my bullies were just insecure about their own lips. The beauty standard had changed mostly by then. My mum went to school in the 1980s though and she has naturally small/thin lips (I fully take after my dad) and she fit the beauty standard back then. As an older woman she has been told she needs fillers! Beauty standards change so I feel it’s never worth getting changing a natural feature (unless it’s extreme and destroying your confidence).
You had the black girl experience but probably without seeing you mum and aunties with those big lips looking beautiful so you could ignore the bullies easier
🙋♀️SAME HERE
Welcome to the club😂
Ooomfph the 80s and harassment for thick lips sounds like racism was a lot stronger aspect of the beauty standards
If I was a mom trying to get my adult child to NOT get lip filler I would show them this!!
Love the history and genetics lesson you put in these videos 10/10 also thank you for telling us more to love our natural features I struggle to love my flat wide nose, larger lips, baby face and short slim thick body and rolls I wish I looked much more petite to fit into certain clothes like I used to when I was younger few years ago actually had a nose bridge and thinner lips some things I wish I didn't think so much about
I loved the science of our heritage you threw in to balance out this video! I definitely learned something new today.
I've had my lips filled twice the last time was a year ago. I'm booked in for a top up later this week. I'm actually considering cancelling now. I think I look natural, I'm definitely not baboon lipped, but how do I even know if my self image is just distorted at this point, or what if this is the time it all goes wrong. I honestly wish more influencers were like you, honest no bs, to help people make educated choices.❤
IMO it also depends if people are conservative with the amount & if their goal is to make proportional. Like a few millimeters is enough.
But just like boob envy, lip envy, is if its good, I gotta get more, extra.
If you did it twice you probably have at least 1 to 2 ml. That's enough sis don't overfill, don't get to 3-5ml
@@fran791 just under 2ml in total, the second time was not the full 1ml. But I think it is enough. Thank you for your sensible words and encouragement.
I agree! My child's friend's mum has lip filler, and even though she thinks she is pretty, but compared to all the other mums (even the older tired ones) she looks weird, unfriendly and a bit alien-like.
This video and you just changed my mind. I was so determined to do a little filler. I have wasted so much money this year on cosmetic procedures and I’m DONE. You’re the true de-influencer. THANK YOU SO MUCH STEPHANIE!!!!! ❤❤

Stephanie, you are amazing for this video! I’m sharing this with my daughter. 💗
a few days ago a girl from Austria died after getting lip fillers and having an extreme reaction. the parents are now suing the hospital that couldn‘t save her. the procedure was done by a beautician…
That's horrible. I never understood this trend.
yikes
Oh gosh how awful!
How scary awful! Are you sure it was done at a "hospital"? A beautician did the lip fillers and a beautician is NOT a medical professional. RIP and love.
@@Wise-Lady-La-Aura it was not done at the hospital but at a beautician's. she then went to the hospital to get help but they could not help her. and her parents refuse to believe that there was no way to help her. it was some kind of extremely rare autoimmune reaction
I have done lip filler twice but not to necessarily have larger lips. I'm 57 and a former smoker and I had a deep lip line on one side of my mouth. Basically, I just popped that wrinkle out without making my lips look crazy. On the other hand, I got talked into cheek filler and it was a disaster. It migrated and made me look so haggard. I ended up having it dissolved and I can attest, it will dissolve your natural tissue. I never had hollows under my eyes or through my cheek but now I do. They say it comes back but it's been a year and while it has improved some, it has not returned to normal. I seriously regret the cheek filler.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m 59 w a million wrinkles around my lips but whatever. Didn’t we all smoke way back then? I quit 25 years ago but…Time catches up. I just live w the wrinkles. They are part of the aging experience now!
yeaaaah cheek filler has more disastrous effects than most filler. your buccal fat region gets absolutely weighed down with the filler, and the thing is, buccal fat already thins after 25 and then begins to sag over time. at 57, your buccal fat not only thinned out but sagged. adding to that with filler just made it sag more and faster, causing the remaining fat that kept your undereye fat lifted and puffy to sag, and then hollow out.
absolutely nobody should get cheek filler, ever, unless these are the desired results. lip filler is one thing (but if done "correctly" won't have effects), but cheek filler? entirely different world. cheek filler shouldnt even exist tbh. it looks bad on everyone.
@@sickickick this makes total sense.
Lip fillers can also migrate to a jawline and even after 15 years could be a reason for cyst and worse. I've seen TC photos, shocking!
Your content and examples are so shocking and entertaining!!! Great work
Thank you for raising awareness! There are too many beautiful girls ruining their faces.
Also, your video edits are hilarious and adorable! 😆
Thank you, Stephanie. It's shocking how cosmetic lip fillers are marketed. Thin lips are not a problem and the risks associated with the filler ingredients are just not worth it.
Stephanie I love your videos everyone at school calls me ugly and I can’t stand it. You brought back my confidence and I’m so grateful 🩷
Your strength and beauty radiates from within; I can feel it through the screen 🫶 never let the insecurities of your bullies make it into your heart, because that’s where your beauty really comes from. The rest is just a temporary meat suit that inevitably gets wrinkly anyway 😂💖
I would bet fifty dollars, right now, that you're pretty.
I have lip filler and it was always very important to me that it looked very natural. I loved how my natural lips looked when i overlined them slightly so i decided to try out filler. Thankfully my injector has the patients best interest in mind and we both agreed on that big lips would not look good on me. I got 1ml and i love how subtle it is. No duck lips, no migration and they still look like my lips, just slightly plumper. I also heavily trust the opinions of my loved ones. You do become blind to it after a while so trusting people when they say that the filler isn't gone is important. I do not plan on making mine bigger, so i'll only have to get like 0,5 ml or less once or twice a year to maintain the current size since the body naturally breaks down the filler.
With this said i 100% agree that the overfilled ducklips we see on social media look horrible and just like makeup i think it only should be done to enhance features, not change them completely.
Thank you for making this video. I was actually considering getting lip filler, but after watching your video, I suddenly feel no need for them. ❤

Thin lips are so beautiful I never understood why women would feel so bad about them. I used to watch many women on tv who had thin lips and they were thought of as the most beautiful. And a sharp red lip looked good on them too. But people keep taking the wrong examples to heart and in the mirror they no longer see how huge and uneven their lips are. You barely see anyone with non bumpy lips in hollywood anymore.
Kudos to you for doing this research...I could not. I almost got sick a few times from the pictures and videos of the lips and had to look away from the screen. I had upper jaw surgery in October to correct my bite (I still have to wear my braces for about 6 more months) and this grossed me out more than knowing what my that procedure was. Also, because of the surgery, my upper lip looks smaller and more bowed, but it also looks natural.
Thank you so much for making this video! I can only warn people if they are suggesting to put fillers in their bodies. I had lipfiller only once and got a damaged lymphatic knot out of it and nearly lost my leg. The consequences for the lymphatic system are getting more and more advertised luckily, in combination with studies underlining this dangerous and important issue.
At 46, I've heard about lip fillers for more than half my life. In 2000, it was one of the most asked for high school graduation gifts. As a young teacher at the time, this concerned me to the core. While I have thought of lip filler for myself in the past, it wasn't until I was closer to 40 that I was serious about it. I have a lot of allergies and now I'm completely against the idea. Thanks for another great , educational video!
Its so crazy how growing up everyone used to make fun of me for having full lips and now people are literally going under the knife to have them. SMH. What a world we live in!!!!
Agreed! Learning to love yourself is hard, especially in a world that picks you apart inch by inch, but once you find self-love it is one of the best things ever. Once you find confident in yourself and other people can't shake your foundations, that's the real winner. That'll make you look more attractive than any of these surgeries could.
I’m 42 in the USA I got 1ml of lip filler last October because as I’ve gotten older my lips have shrunk. I used to naturally have beautiful full lips and I wanted that look back. I think in moderation it’s fine but I can see how women take it to far. You start to get used to the new size and think “I could do a little more” lol
I absolutely looove your sense of humour!
being shallow here, i find both big & small lips beautiful. same with eyes, noses, foreheads, bodies...etc. it depends on the rest of the individual's features. same as what stephanie said, big lips don't suit everyone!
I don’t think that’s shallow at all. I think it’s quite the opposite and a beautiful thing and so kind actually! ☺️😊
