THIS IS BASICALLY THE MESSAGE THAT SOCIETY IS SENDING TO MOTHERS EVERYWHERE. IF YO’RE A WOMAN, YOU SHOULD ASPRE TO HAVE CHILDREN. ITS BASICALLY YOU'RE DUTY AS A FEMALE. BUT DON’T YOU DARE LOOK LIKE YOU HAD THEM! YOU CAN POST AS MANY BIG BELLIED SHOTS AS YOU LIKE WHILE YOU'RE PREGNANT, GO AHEAD, EAT FOR TWO. PUT YOUR FEET UP! YOU’RE GROWING A BABY REMEMBER. BUT OH BOY HOW THE STORY CHANGES ONCE YOU’VE GIVEN BIRTH. THEN YOUR BIG BELLY IS NO LONGER CUTE. YOU’RE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO EAT FO TWO, HECK SOCIETY DOESN’T EVEN WANT YOU EATING FOR ONE! BE LIKE THESE WOMEN WHO STARTED DIETING RIGHT AFTER POPPING THEIR BABIES OUT. YES ITS YOUR DUTY AS A WOMAN TO HAVE CHILDREN, BUT ITS YOUR OBLIGATION TO SNAP BACK INTO SHAPE AFTERWARDS. BUT WHERE OH WHERE IN THIS MESSAGING ARE WE ENCOURAGING the WOMEN THEMSELVES TO DO ANYTHING FOR THEIR OWN HEALTH AND HAPPINESS?

I can relate! Not about postbaby body, but I have my fathers Native American nose, which I happen to love and I was on the bus outside of London when my friend let me know that a person was trying to get my attention, and I turned to the person who rudely told me that I have a big nose but I laughed immediately in their face because I just thought it was so absurd that they would feel the need to tell me that and also I love my nose so it didn’t bother me at all and I went right back to talking to my friend. But yes, if I had deep insecurity about my nose or myself that could’ve sent me in a downward spiral of getting surgery or not wanting to be out in society.

Yes, society has beauty standards. But at the end of the day, the woman herself decided she was willing to take the risks in order to look the way SHE wanted to look. The vast majority of women do not have surgery to alter their bodies after pregnancy, most women just don't care enough to go through all that pain and risk. The ones who do are aware of the risks and of course, we all think wont be us. But sadly some are and the kids have to grow up without their mother. But society's beauty standards aren't the ones who signed the waiver. It was the woman's decision.

But I don't think I could ever bring myself to do this. My body was made to store fat and fold and stretch, not just for a baby but to carry itself efficiently. It's fearfully and wonderfully made.

I think social media is not the only thing to blame for all this . Some men are very superficial & they’ll often leave their wives/gfs because they no longer find her attractive after pregnancy and end up looking for a younger woman ( which is a whole other issue) . That will ruin anyone’s self esteem . Then the woman looks into surgery to gain the confidence back and so on . Very sad

And then the guy gets his new young wife pregnant too and it all starts over again... If those men who don't like womens' bodies after giving birth, could learn how to "pull out" or get castration surgery (I don't know what it's called in English) to avoid getting women pregnant, these situations wouldn't occur...

Yes, it's literally incredible to me that a long-term partner would think like that about someone they supposedly know well and value deeply. My parents have been married for 45 years and my mother gave birth 4 times; my father tells her she's beautiful all the time and he means it. Of course she looks different but that is testament to the four children they created together!

That gives me hope!! I love seeing couples who have stayed really into each other throughout the phases of life. Ever see an elderly couple that's been together for decades and they still speak about each other like they're the hot 20-year-olds they were when they got married? I want that. I rarely am able to feel physical attraction without liking a personality first, so I'm not terribly concerned about losing attraction as my partner's body changes over time. I just hope to end up with someone who will keep the same energy for me, especially if I ever go through pregnancy.

something to keep in mind when you see all these celebrities with perfectly flat tummies and talking about how they lost 20 pounds and 20 weeks , etc something to keep in mind is that is there is a lot of Photoshop and face tuning that goes on that we don’t see. Their stretch marks, their scars, they all get blurred out. As Stephanie said, they have their own personal trainers, they have nannies, they have nutritionists, they have dietitians, make up artists, people that can make them look beautiful every single day and us “normal regular people” don’t have access to those things. It’s hard to feel beautiful when you see these people in magazines and on social media but just remember, that most of these images are lies and that you probably look better now the way you are then you would if you had a surgery go wrong and that’s not worth the risk ❤❤❤❤

And they took too much skin for the tummy tuck, so now (2 years later) I still can't stretch my arms above my head properly and I have huge sunken in scars because the skin has stretched out so thin under my arms. Following those very strange scars, I have huge painful hypertrophic scars under where my breasts were.

I feel so bad for Anna. I can’t imagine having a husband like that. I haven’t had kids, but my boobs are incredibly large, saggy, and uneven. I had a hormone imbalance from a young age that caused one side to grow two extra sizes and they grew so fast that they’ve never not pointed at the ground. I HATE them. They’re difficult to style in bathing suits and tops. I feel like the ugliest girl in the world without a bra. I’ve wanted a boob job my whole life. Even my own mother recommended it (as a way to deal with my insecurity but that just made it worse). But my husband has begged me not to. I won’t say he “won’t let me” because at the end of the day I’m an adult and I could do it without his permission, but he’s implored me to stay as I am because he loves me and loves them and to him, no amount of “perkiness” is worth the risk of losing me. It honestly is making me tear up and get a lump in my throat just typing it. I’m so lucky to have a man who values me as a person over me as the perfectly modified Instagram model. I don’t even fear the body changes that having kids might bring because I already have saggy boobs and stretch marks and he stills love every part. I can’t imagine how different my life would be if I had a husband like Anna’s. I’d probably be multiple surgeries in if I’d even be here to tell the tale at all. Anna deserves better and I hope she finds it someday cause unconditional love is so much better.

If any woman thinks that giving birth is the biggest havoc your body will ever go through, you're wrong. Menopause is the most difficult period of my life. You all need to accept your young body while you can.

Idk if this helps at all but I witnessed my mother go through menopause (she’s wrapping up now) and the things she found devastating were truly not that noticeable to other people. I know there are loads of other factors like heat waves, emotional rollercoasters and period irregularities but the outside stuff is usually only a big deal to the person experiencing it. Even my grandma now talks about menopausal changes in the way you’re talking about giving birth “when your my age you’ll miss those problems, it’s worse now blah blah” lol things are probably never as bad as we think they are in the moment.

It’s definitely genetic to some degree. I’ve met several post menopausal women who said they didn’t have a really rough time, but neither did their mothers.

I was told that the biggest hormone change humans go through is post partum. I understand menopause can be very rough on some women but it's not a universal truth. Not to mention the actual amount of physical injury that can happen to a body during birth. I'm pretty sure birth had killed more women than menopause has. I'm sorry you had a tough time with menopause but to say that menopause causes more havoc on women's bodies than giving birth does, is ridiculous. I'm sure it is the case for women who have easy pregnancies and easy births but tough menopause but that is not going to be true for everyone.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Everyone is different. Pregnancy and childbirth definitely wreaks more havoc on women's bodies, generally.

      To the naysayers:
Google atrophy caused by lack of oestrogen during menopause and then comment on how menopause can’t “destroy” your body. It can destroy the most intimate parts of your body and you can kiss goodbye being intimate through inter course.
Also look at how your heart health, your bone health can be destroyed by menopause.
It upsets me when women will not educate themselves about what can happen when a woman’s body is deprived of our hormones.

Without social media this wouldn't be a thing. No one I know in real life wants their wife to look like she hasn't had babies. The women do wish they could get rid of some belly weight, but they're not judging each other or killing themselves to get their "pre baby" body back. Yes, assholes exist in real life, but cut them out and this idea is gone. It's just social media standards. Ignore it. Live your life. Be healthy for you and your babies. Leave out the Instagram and magazine toxicity.

This was a thing in magazines in the 90's and 2000's too. My Mum bought magazines every week and they were displayed at the shops. It's a problem that is much older than social media influencers.

I've birthed and breastfed 2 children and undergone a hysterectomy to remove ovarian cancer. I'm left with a 2 joined together pouches. My husband has never once suggested I should get that fixed, he loves me as I am!

I had twins almost three years ago and it destroyed my body, I didn't even recognize myself. I got so depressed about how I looked I basically gave up and just gained a bunch of weight but then this year I chose to make a change and I'm working on getting back to my old body as best I can. All this to say, I needed this video. I played with the thought of getting surgery and I'm glad I'm going at this naturally

I don't have kids but I remember once posting an article that talked about how celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow (just an example) were able to bounce back to their pre-pregnancy weight *because* they have their own chefs, personal trainers, nannies etc., and then my then-boyfriend left a sarcastic comment basically saying that the article encouraged women to be lazy and "let themselves go". So even if you went through a difficult birth that left you with serious long-term consequences, you still had no "excuse" for not just bouncing back into shape. I'm happy to say I'm with a much better person now.

After 5 children and losing about 170lbs through lifestyle changes I had surgical skin removal and muscle repair. I had tummy tuck with muscle repair, extended vertical thigh lift, brachioplasty, lower back lift, lipo and fat transfer to breasts and face over two surgeries about a year apart. I went to a well known plastic surgeon in my area and my recovery took a significant amount of time. It was well worth the discomfort and financial cost to me as I had significant back pain from the abdominal stomach gap and from hanging loose skin. I do feel better emotionally as my loose skin was significant and not fixable with exercise and I had no further weight to lose. However my husband always told me I was fine the way I was!
