    I know you guys love my 'reacting to body goals influencers in real life' series, and I get it! It's nice to see behind the curtain of social media fakeness sometimes and realise that these people that you think of as being 'body goals' or 'perfect' actually look really similar to YOU in real life! So if these influencers are body goals (and they are - they're beautiful) then so are you!
    In this video we're talking hip dips, cellulite, muscle tone, six packs, bellies and video body editing apps.

      I don’t think this content is toxic. Stephanie is just trying to show the “regular folks” like me, that these famous women in Instagram pictures aren’t always as “perfect” as they seem in the photos. These celebrities more than likely won’t ever even see these videos, and if they do see it (and watch all her commentary), they know that their photos are posed and edited and the things Stephanie says are true and not bad. Celebrities know they are manipulating the public in these ways.

      @@Karolina-vi2wt are we really free to choose tho? Because ever since I was ten I was pressured to believe that body hair on a girl are disgusting and that nobody would have ever wanted to be with me unless I removed them. To this day those words have an influence on me and I would rather cover my legs than have my hair exposed, even tho i really don’t care about them, and if it wasn’t for all the comments, all the stares, and all of the commercials I probably would never have thought my body hair to be disgusting. So yes I believe these ads, even if we say that shaving is a “free choice”, are very harmful especially towards young and impressionable girls, because they reinforce the idea that women should change to please misogynistic standards

      I am going to be 52 and I don’t remember the “hip dip” craze, but I dealt with anorexia because the thinner you were, the better…think Kate Moss. However, my best friend had them but she was only 5’4 and weighed 96-99lbs and I always thought they looked weird when she was in a bathing suit. I struggled for YEARS --actually until almost 12 years ago when I finally found someone who thinks I’m beautiful at 110 lbs or 190. (I have ended up developing PCOS with insulin resistance and gained a lot of weight) if my mindset was still as it was in the mid 80’s to early 00’s, I would be killing myself to drop weight. No matter how little I weighed, I have always had larger hips/thighs. I guess more the hour glass, so if this body craze was the thing back in our day, I would be golden now…lol
      I’ve always told my two daughters every single person is beautiful and be happy with whatever size you are as long as you are healthy. Always love yourself because there are always people out there who will try to make you feel about so you have to be your own biggest fan. You are beautiful regardless of what society says is right or wrong.
      P. S. I hope this comment makes sense as I am getting ready for work and my youngest daughter is standing beside me gabbing about her size…lol **WE are also VA girls.

    As someone with a rectangular body shape, this video is so amazing for me! I heard something the other day that made me pause and think. Every bit of “dressing for your body type” advice we have been given for decades has been to make us all look like we have the same body shape (hourglass). Much like we all pose in pictures to have an hourglass shape. While hour glass figures are gorgeous, so are rectangular bodies, pear, triangle, or whatever else! Thanks for encouraging us who don’t have the hourglass to embrace the shape we have!

    your channel is so helpful ♥️ i struggle with an ED and i feel so much more secure when i see how these ladies look in real life - like every other lady on the street! and they are drop dead gorgeous so why shouldn’t we all feel that way about ourselves. i really don’t blame these ladies for doing the things that they do with surgery and photoshop. we’ve all seen the harassment that they receive in the media. i just wish they wouldn’t lie about it. in my opinion, they do hold some responsibility when they are profiting off of their appearance and willingly present themselves in front of everyone’s faces constantly. it’s not good for society or for themselves to live that lie.

    "Women, we are purposefully made to look different - it's cool" So, SO true! I admit I have one or several sort of like "favorite" aesthetics for different body and face traits but even so I just enjoy the aesthetics of many different bodies and faces. It's cool! It's all beautiful. It's like paintings, we don't pick and choose two favorite paintings and then discard the rest as ugly. There is a different type of artistry in every painting. And even more beautiful is that this is all superficial and doesn't even matter than much. There are _very few_ people on earth that are actually kind of ugly, outwardly. Chances are, reader, you're not one of them. If you are - I'm sad about how it must have affected your life. But I know and you know that otward beauty in itself is not important. It just sucks tk have to navigate life among people who are so influenced by it. But for most people a lot of the anxious and depressive feelings surrounding beauty could go away if they just learn to appreaciate different types of beauty. They'll see more beauty around them and on them.

    Great videos, maybe you would be interested in reading about the Kibbe bodytypes?
    They are a bit more varied than pear, apple and so on, and also take in to consideration where you store fat when you're at different weights, it also touches on how your skeleton is build, what kind of "body presence" that gives you, and what is flattering, not to hide certain parts of you, but to lean into what kibbe type you are, or even stray away from your type and create a totally different look.
    Its really interesting and has helped me love my body when im more toned, less toned and when I have gained some weight.

    • @shulamis255
      @shulamis255 Před rokem +3

      Yes, this! The Kibbe body type system is so much more accepting in the sense that there's no "ideal" and each type can wear different, beautiful styles that flatter them best. It isn't about "compensation" - it's about harmony and working with your inherent lines.

    It makes me so happy to see more and more women become aware of how fake social media is and how absurd the current beauty standards are. However, I find it so frustrating how blissfully ignorant men in general remain on this subject. This sort of photo/video manipulation is sooooo common on platforms like OF and it really seems to desensitize men to the beauty of real life women.

    • @Cremepeach
      @Cremepeach Před rokem +15

      I think men being ignorant about this topic is not completely their fault. Specially when we women keep posting pictures where we add so much edits and filters and facetuning and not to mention the amount makeup we wear. Nothing seems to be natural anymore. We women need to also step up and do our part to bring this toxic beauty culture down. There is alot of talk about this but less action.

    Thank you for this series. Its really helped my body image. Even when I've been considered skinny my whole life. I've been really insecure about my stomach and how it sticks out. Especially because im really into kpop and the insane beauty standards have an effect on me. I know that sounds weird but it does when everyone around has toned abs at 12 and you've never done anything to modify you're body like dieting. It makes me feel ugly. But thanks to you I've realized that looks aren't everything and I should stop paying so much attention to my waist. And you've helped me come to know that the people I look up to as "body goals" are not that different from me. And I love that one video where you show that ur tummy sticks out when you're relaxed. It really feels good to know that I'm not alone and there are people with similar bodies, kinda like representing something that is viewed as unhealthy when its not really something we can control. So I feel for these young ladies and they need these kinds of "THIS IS THE REAL LOOK" reminder. One of my bonus kids told me a few months back "I can't wait to have my pores removed like those girls did" and it was the photo edit, she honestly didn't know that they still have pores...they just hid them by edits. I don't have bunches of time around her but, I've now tried to compliment something "weird"(to IG standards) about her and me and anyone else and remember how I speak on bodies.

It makes me sad that someone that I’d see in the world and “think wow! What a gorgeous woman!” Could ever feel like she should restrict herself like that. So i just wanted to say that you are strikingly beautiful, and that anyone that’s ever said you were “fat” (wtf?? Crazy) or made you feel that way, 1. Has no room to talk and 2. Is simply lying - most likely out of jealousy. I hope you are able to hear and focus on all the good people say about you! ❤ I would feel lucky to look like you!! Much love, girl 💗
