The gangway is is blocking the door cover. And, WHY for all the places on the ship, they have to put the big door on the bow of the ship ??? Bow is usually narrow space. It will be hard to maneuver inside.
This was like watching the continental shelf move !

No disrespect intended but why burden a combat vessel (even a transport one) with such slow and heavy automation that is only useful in port under calm conditions? It's very impressive but it's not as if it's wide enough to offload a main battle tank or a huge helicopter through that ramp. Just why?
Its plenty wide and im sure in combat they would go faster. And tanks do fit on it

Did you ever view UNITED STATES LST'S built prior to the 1960's or was you even born then . USS WINDHAM COUNTY LST 1170 the bow was the forward doors for the ramp. Google military ships on line , you will find out about them .
This is not a add on. They built the the ship with this in mind.
