hey loved your tutorials and you work i started 3d modeling in maya from 3 months and have learned a lot from you actually after listening to you i don't even like to watch other channels videos :D Thank you #keepupthegoodwork
This video is amazing! I'm learning everything I can on Animation, and the Plus on this video actually gave me something new! Thanks for your hard work!
That so amazing to hear! Thank you so much JuanDanielR2. Comments like yours makes me want to continue making videos. :) By the way, if you want to get pre-released content, updates on workshops, free models, and more, please sign up for my newsletter. www.academicphoenixplus.com/
Thank you for your video:) I'm also using the 2018 version of Maya, but I'm working on a Mac and do not have the little trigger you clicked on when you were building the walls, how do you get that to appear?
Hi Im, thank you for your comment. I don’t use a Mac but they should have the same controls. Is your manipulator too large? If you click on the - or +, it will make the manipulator smaller or bigger. Otherwise, maybe resetting Maya? I’m not sure this is helpful, but I hope it does! :)
I love using (Shift+Drag) shortcut of Maya 2018 to extrude faces ( I inherited this habit from 3ds max, I was a Max user before I use Maya), but for the models here in the video, your usage of Extrude function is more correct :) (shift+drag is better for making continuous new faces, but not for giving thickness for a whole element/geo) ....take the seats (minute 3:30) here as example: if I used (shift+drag) to give thickness to selected polygons, the way it works won't let me easily shape the the thickness correctly, ALSO, it will not automatically change the faces Normals to the correct direction (you can test this after extrude if you press (3) key to smooth the model, directly you will see the fault ) .
It's great to hear other 3d package users try out Maya. Blender and 3ds max have great tools that would be useful and amazing if they were in Maya! Hopefully, Autodesk will get a hint. :) What made you change to maya?
I moved to Maya cause i wanted to mainly learn rigging & animation, but later I realized that whether (Max/Maya/Houdini/Blender ...etc) they usually don't work well alone out of the box, they need extra scripts & plugins sometimes, Maya is more supported by individuals & online community writing lots of scripts & tools for it (they make my work easier & faster, what needs my manual work I do it, without wasting more time on what can be done automatically by scripts to help me). you know, 3d Art needs lots of efforts & patience, the last thing I need is wasting more time uv-mapping a single piece of Jeans pants, or setting-up a stretch IK for single arm, 3ds Max also has some free/commercial tools & scripts but Maya is more supported in this field .
Thank you so much, генезис! I was thinking the same thing. I would love for the ones that disliked the video to give feedback, so I can make my tutorials better. But I am really grateful that you liked it. :)
Academic Phoenix Plus Hmm, I think it could be because some people didn’t know it was gonna be a multi part tutorial 🤔 Idk, but great job as always Monica 😁
Hi Zedorek, Thank you for your comment! This is a multi part tutorial, so we will definitely texture and render it. Keep an eye out! By the way, if you want pre-released content, you can sign up for my newsletter at www.academicphoenixplus.com/ :)
Hi Ravi, I’m sorry to hear you are having issues with the render view. Have you tried resetting Maya? In your documents, there is a folder called Maya, then the year your Maya software. (Mine is currently 2018). Delete all the files there, and restart maya. Don’t worry, everything will come back, but Maya will start fresh. Just be careful, any settings/scripts will be removed! Hope that helps. :)

Prof! Great video as always. Don't know if you remember me, it's Lilibeth B.
Hi Lilibeth! How have you been? Where are you now? This world is so small. :)
I've been well! Still haven't graduated yet but getting closer. I hope you're well.
That's exciting! I'm great. I hope you are well too. Keep in touch!
Super cool, Monica. Don't know what's up with the dislikes on this one.
Probably people not able to follow or fanboys of other 3d apps. There's plenty of them on the internet.
Now it's better, 21 vs 3. When I watched the video it was 3 vs 3. I was like "what? why?"...
Thank you so much, генезис! I was thinking the same thing. I would love for the ones that disliked the video to give feedback, so I can make my tutorials better. But I am really grateful that you liked it. :)
That's a good point, Mauro Sanna. Thank you for the feedback! I'll change the title so viewers know that it's for Maya. :)
