- Hi and welcome to this first run and speed test of my new Tamiya DT-03 Aqroshot racing truck. The 1/10 scale RC truck is almost stock, the only changes being a set of ball bearings and a Team Orion Super Stock 12 turn brushed motor. Oh, and the tyres have been replaced with stock Blitzer Beetle tyres. The battery is a 4500mAh 2S. I was hoping for a top speed near 30mph, what do you reckon?

About the DT-03 T kit:
This assembly kit R/C truck features a stylish body inspired by U.S. stadium racing trucks. Made from lightweight and durable polycarbonate, it features a rear wing, and can be decorated using the flashy markings included in the kit. The chassis provides suitably dynamic driving fun, and is mounted with front and rear wheels of differing offset, mounted with radial semi-pneumatic tires.
The stylish slimline form of this chassis stems from its lightweight yet durable monocoque frame, which features a longitudinally-positioned battery and the R/C equipment along the centerline for excellent balance. The combination of a long 287mm wheelbase and 4-wheel double wishbone suspension married to CVA oil dampers with long arms at a 25-degree attachment angle, allows the model to handle with stability on poor surfaces. The rear-positioned gearbox is sealed to protect from dust and dirt, with the built-in differential gear offering smooth cornering.

OK, now that I got the first comment excitement out of my system... 32 MPH is pretty darn quick, Mark! I guessed 35 in the Facebook group chat, but I thought I was seriously over-stating the speed. Seriously impressive speed with that motor. And those wheelies were the bee's knees! Haha! Great stuff pal, have an excellent weekend!

Yeah I was pleased with that speed! If we get snow here I might fit some paddle tyres to this and give it a rip, too! I bet yours goes great with that brushless set - hope you can get it out in the snow for some fun soon!

I have some 2.8" wheels laying around and i remember i put them on my Aqroshot and it went nuts 💨 But the motor got extremely hot

Its great to see some love for the Aqroshot as its of course the fantastic DT-03 under its cool truck style bodyshell! If only tamiya made it with the BB wheels/tyres it would of been a much bigger hit! Or maybe two sets of wheels in the box? Anyway great stuff guy and nicely done! I'm with you about the tyres on this one though mate. If you haven't tried them, HPI Ground Assault tyres work fantastic on the stock rims...

Hi Mark, well I never thought I would see a brushed motor get into the 30's, that was a very impressive speed run, but I guess the lipo helped it along. The power that motor puts out is insane, acts like a brushless motor... Orion "Super Stock" 12 turn motor??? Does it have fixed timing & bushings?? I must look this motor up, last I knew, a 12 turn isn't "stock" LOL. Awesome video my friend(s)!!!!

Looking for help and no idea where to look. I have an original 1980's tamiya hornet, that was my dad's, what would I need to swap out to make it run now? It's all original...except the bumper, I remember driving that into a wall at full speed when I was 6 or 7
Hi Robert. Your Hornet might still work with the original electrics, it's worth putting in a new battery and seeing if it runs. If not I'd say just swap out the speed controller to an ESC (I recommend a Hobywing 1060) and take it from there. Good luck with it! 😎👍

Ha, always a fun time with the dynamic duo but now the dynamic trio! Great to get Lou involved in the larks and japes. Hey 32mph on brushed is brilliant. I did a speed test with my brushless one and from memory I think it went 39mph so not a vast difference. Be interesting if this is the Poorboys RC speed run chassis of choice this year. Are they HPI Ground Assault truck tyres on the back? If so that's what my Firestorm has and they are a great all round tyre and good idea to save your pin spike Blitzer ones for grass.
