I thought that this would be important information to share. 35% of all ocean microplastics come from clothing/textiles, mostly polyester, but also acrylic and nylon as well. This is largely due to clothes made of these materials being washed, which causes these clothes to quickly erode, with the microplastic fibers entering the water system and eventually the sea. Ocean Hero is a great search engine that we can use to help clean up larger plastics before they disintegrate into microplastics.
I can’t wait 😜 to watch at home 🏡 when I get it

"BUT WE APPROVED YOUR PARDON!?"
That's DnD in a nutshell. There's no one more dangerous to the party than the party itself!
Edgin's player: Is Jarnathan coming?
DM: *sigh* for the millionth time no
Edgin's player: Please?
DM: Fine, you see a black feather aarakocra step in
Edgin's player: Great I maneuver him to window and we jump out the window with him
the part that killed me the most was the -Paladin- DMPC getting the party back on track with the main plot and after the party messing up the puzzle they planned out having a hand wave solution to keep the session going
@@TheMonkeygoneape and then in typical dnd fashion the hand wave solution becoming the keystone to every major solution after that point
@@TheMonkeygoneape 😂EXACTLY 🎉
except for the DM who wants to kill the party
but we've approved your pardon!
She is throwing potatoes! How dumb of her!
FLY BIRD FLY
At least we know why they wanted to wait for Johnathan lol
It's Jarnathan.
@@SergeyLazutin is it really, even funnier lol
"She's throwing potatoes." "Oh, Jarnathan!"
That lady had two lines and she made the most of them 😂
The line reads for those are so funny. She really did the most with a tiny part
Sometimes I wonder what lines were ad-libbed in this film lol
@@natemyers4946i think the line were the party is watchin xenk walk away in a straight line was ad-libbed.
having played BG3.... i now know how dangerous potato throwing is.
Just ask Tommyinnit, potato victim.
This has such pure “player wants to do one thing but the DM doesn’t want it to happen” energy and I love it
This exactly!
Like the DM was railroading a little by asking Edgin’s player to set up the backstory (probably for Doric and Xenk’s players) he was gonna have the pardon approved anyway but Edgin and Holga’s players found out about Jarnathan beforehand and wanted to do the epic escape no matter what
@@mrcritical6751LOL 😂
Edgin and Holga's players to the DM: "We just wanted the first session to be epic! Is that okay?!"
@@indigoward4396
DM: ok ok, if I let this happen you promise not to kill any of them…looking at you Holga
Edgin: it’s literally in our backstory that we don’t
DM: well sorry for not noticing that, I was too busy telling you that Jarnathan isn’t coming! Holga roll to attack!
Holga: I throw potatoes at them
DM: FOR GODS SAKE EVERY FRICKING TIME!!!!!
That's a bad DM then. I LOVE the movie "Zero charisma" because it perfectly encapsulates bad DMs
Honestly jumping out of the window even when the pardon is approved is something a dnd player would do no doubt.
Yeah, human stupidity is an amazing thing.
I was wondering who Jarnathen was. I thought he was their insider or someone who was a sympathetic ear. Nope, he just had wings 😂
I thought they were best friends or someone they helped in the past or something. Nope, he was stalling for time until he showed up
that set up was amazing…. like no Karnathan enters and he has no idea who this people are
Edgin made a point of mentioning that he was an aaracokra and I was wondering why his race was important. Turns out, it's important because he can fly.
They were already sympathetic to Edgin.
The in-joke for D&D players is that Jarnathan is an aaracorka, which is a species that would be sympathetic to them. But they just grab him anyway :D
I love that he has to give us his backstory. The dialogue in this move feels like the dialogue of the game.
The guys who made it play it to begin with.
How did Edgin meet Zia?
They didn't make a movie about the setting of D&D, they made a movie about how D&D is actually played. Overacting, conversely ignoring all exposition and lore to focus on the fighting only, the associated murderhobo tendencies, ridiculous quests, the DM having to use deus ex machina and ridiculous luck and coincidences to keep things remotely on track, characters using INT or CHA as a dump stat and it showing....
movie*
@@jarowan all the random dumb mistakes they made like the graveyard scene, even moments where the DM decides to be a trickster god and do shitty stuff to the party like having the helmet constantly rejecting Simon
"It's just, hard to relive this..... Without Jarnathan here. :/" Chris Pine's delivery was so fucking good. Amazing movie.
This is what dungeons and dragons is all about, the pure chaos unfold of random decisions.
Not to forget about the type 2 diabetes ridden dragon.
Can't we get more The legend of Vox machina and This movie was fun👌❤️
Jarnathan is literally the character who the DM named on the spot by corrupting an English name and the players become obsessed with him and drag him into their shenanigans.
It's a perfect name for this. It's so funny.
"Thats a Harper stronghold, I don't know if you heard of it, Jarnathan has..."
😂
When the councilwoman yelled, "Oh Jarmathan!" I busted out laughing from deep within my belly. lol And then again when she did the same at the end of the movie. Poor Jarnathan! hahahaha
I like how it implies this isn’t the first time something like this happened
@@MrHalohunter24 Poor Jarnathan, being used as the prisoners unlucky glider to escape.
Is it really spelled like that?
Me too my favorite parts
yep! thing about D&D is that a lot of silly names are used for NPCs and even player characters!
They approved his pardon 😂😂
I couldn’t stop laughing when that happened 😂
Me and my friends started dying when we saw the color green on the paperwork, lmfao
Lmao that caught me off guard 😂
9:26 this is the most peak-D&D moment of the film. Hands down.
The players succeeded spectacularly on a dumb and convoluted plan that is 100% unnecessary. And probably making things worse with ramifications in the end.
That moment immediately sold the “it’s the DnD movie” to me.
God the costume on Jarnathan is gorgeous, actually absolutely gorgeous I love it. Actually, costumes all around are wonderful. Why do CG when you can have accomplished artists and designers make real physical outfits?
And then throw them out of a window.
One word: union
I believe for practical effects that part of the movie-making biz is unionized so in order to get around not having to rely on that studios opt for CG
@@captaintalon4485 I don't follow like do they have to be part of a "union" to do that orrrrr?.....
@@thefirstofthelastones8952 Unions are very protective of their workers, they do not allow any mistreatment, any reduction in pay, or any unnecessary job loss without due inquiry and compensation. CGI artists are not unionized, there was a push for it ten years ago but some hullabaloo prevented it from happening. Practical effects artists very much are unionized. In order to cut costs, movie studios will overuse CGI because they can abuse and underpay the artists, as the artists have no protection. They would not be able to get away with this by hiring practical effects artists. Even cheap practical effects artists are not hired because studios have become so abusive to *all* their employees they can't risk union interference.
@@captaintalon4485 the Irony is that this movie was only 100mil to make, now compare that to the little mermaid which was 250 mil, what they spend the money on?!
@@alexdavis-mann8513 Lining exec pockets, that's what.
Funniest scene in the entire movie. The perfect joke. Still find myself grinning at this whenever I think about it.

When it got to the final scene, when Forge is narrating to the same council, I remember thinking "Oh shit, it would be hilarious if he tried to escape the same way"... and when he did, I almost died laughing.
I hope this movie gets enough streams for a sequel!! I would love to see more of this world even if we don’t follow these characters (although they’d be fun to watch)
It will get a sequel. It was considered a hit in the movie theaters... I'm sure it will be a hit on streaming. Heck, I'm gonna buy it!
@@tysonthomas7094 Is it though? I love the movie, but I’ve heard it didn’t make as much money as they expect in the theaters
It has been greenlit for a series by Paramount with Drew Crevello as show runner.
lol this movie is complete fucking trash. Another man hating forced diversity pile of shit.
It was one of the best movies this year bar none.
AH YES THE 10 PAGE LONG BACKSTORY CHARACTER. They nailed DND.
I love how many scenes begin with a top down perspective. Gives the movie its own cinematic language that helps it stand out, and also a nice reference to the perspective of players looking down at a tabletop
Much like the top down look on a battle map
My head canon is they rolled their way during the script writing to make it more accurate to a DnD session
Funny thing is Jarnathan looks like an understanding person.
I love the lady who goes "JARNATHAN!!" 😂
This movie's marketing team absolutely did it dirty.
So true. None of the trailers got me invested. They should all be fired. Thankfully the movie is awesome.
Yes
Never played D&D myself but I have a friend who plays it all the time and once told me about his character and went into this amount of detail of his character's backstory. Seeing this reminded me of that.
the "you went back too far" bit killed me
The way the councilwoman yelled "She's throwing potatoes!" is hysterical
It has the dramatic, sad backstory for a fairly goofy character, recognizable spells and resorting to absolute chaos as a solution rather than trying the straightforward route. This is the scene where I was like "okay, this is gonna be good. This movie gets D&D"
As a former DM, I have an idea how this went among the players:
The DM wanted Edgin to pass a persuasion check depending on how well he tells his story. However, Edgin's player didn't want to risk relying on that, so he came up with the crazy plan using Jarnathan. The DM didn't like that so he had him delayed, hoping Edgin sticking to his plan.
Instead, Edgin kept making persuasion attempts to wait for Jarnathan (which would have likely only succeeded with a roll of 20).
In the end, Edgin was forced to roll a persuasion check on his story (which was successful) but he immediately tried rolling for more stalling, so the DM was like "whatever, Jarnathan steps in". Edgin immediately seized the opportunity, not giving the DM a chance to tell that the skill check was successful until they already jumped out of the window.
Alternatively: They heard that there was an aarakokra named "Jarnathan" and immediately Edgin's player went "fuck that last plan. Everything has to hinge on Jarnathan"
I applaud whoever came up with "Jarnathan" as the pitch perfect "DM has to think of a fantasy-ish sounding name on the spot". The scene, and the whole movie for that matter, was a delight.
Did not think much of it and was skeptical but... it turned out amazing. Great atmosphere and characters. Best movie of the year, for D&D fans or not.
There’s no way it’s the best movie of the year lol. Not even close.
@@pab1381 We're only halfway through the year. Maybe, in the words of Homer Simpson, it's the best movie of the year *so far.* 😜
@@ZukoHalliwell but it isn’t lol. GOTG3 is much much better. Easily. Oh yeah and a little known movie called “John Wick 4”.
@@pab1381 Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
@@ZukoHalliwell i understand that but there are those times where no matter what you think there are movies that are much much better than others. Ppl absolutely never would think this film is better than John Wick 4. No way. Same with GOTG3. That’s like you saying Jaws 4 is better than Inception because opinions 😂
whether it was intentional or not... I... LOVE... that this film portrays the sheer insanity taking place in an actual DND session rather than making the main focus on the actual lore haha
"Whats the guys name?"
DM, trying to come up with a name fast: ".....Jarmathan"
I swear, "But we approved your pardon!" is such a great punchline 😂
FLY, BIRD, FLY!
Proud to be in this film’s credits - moreover, to have worked on it. :)
"But we approved your pardon!" As they're jumping out the window bahahaha
I'm sorry it's hard to re-live this.....without Jarnathan here.
I'm actually surprised the council didn't say, "If you mention Jarnathan *one more time,* your pardon is denied!"
That would of been funny
I feel like this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to jarnathan
Still underrated and one of my favourite movies of the year
Loved the baby's reaction at 4:36! Don't get between Holga and her potatoes!
Y'all really went off with this one LoL 😂😂😂 The Jonathan part keeps on killing me 😭😭
They definitely got to make more Dungeon and Dragons!
DM: Wow, that was really stellar roleplaying. You don’t even need to roll, your plea clearly has moved the council, and they move to-
Player: Wait can we still do the thing though?
DM: but- you’ll be branded as criminals still then, you could just leave with free travel to get where you want to go faster!
Player: …Nah we wanna do the thing still.
DM sighs. “Fine. Roll athletics.”
This movie encapsulates what tabletop RPGs are really about, and what was missing from the first one: the fun resulting of the chaotic mess of a handful of players and the game master's desperate attempts to keep the story on tracks.
The writing in this movie is impeccable ! 😂
"She's throwing po-ta-toes!" - What a great line! (When I saw the movie in the theater, I thought I heard "She's lobbing po-ta-toes!"?)
Most underrated movie of 2023.. Watched it today, and I really really enjoyed the movie.. Why didn't I watch it in theatres?? Noone told me movie was this good!!
This is the best movie I’ve seen in years. It’s been a long time since there was a movie that I just wanted to watch all the time. They really did this perfectly.
OH, JARNATHAN!
"She's throwin' pohtaytoes!"
"Oh JaRnAthAn!"
Love the inclusion of Revel's end prison. Just finished playing rime of the frostmaiden with my mates so it was great to see it in live action
Wizards of the Coast made Revel's End in Rime of the Frostmaiden for this movie. The directors of this movie asked WoTC is there a maximum security prison anywhere on Faerie for them to use in this movie, and initially WoTC didn't, so they created Revel's End in the Frostmaiden adventure, which is less than a decade before this movie in the Forgotten Realms D&D timeline.
"She's throwing potatoes!" lololol awesome
Jonathan's scene got me twice!
It's Jarnathan, not Jonathan.

I want the DVD & all the goodies inside!!!
Best part is in the end they took out the window and made it a wall instead
The funny thing about this is the council approved their pardon. They were literally about to be free legally, but jumped the gun and through the window.
At least they learn from their mistake and announce their verdict the moment they put a stamp on the paper later
This movie was amazing!

I met my wife through a random DND pick up game i was invited to. the party was down 1 and my friend thought of me and invited me to the game and it was there I met the love of my life. So DND has a special place in both of our hearts. then when we saw they were making this movie we both thought "oh boy here we go again, Hollywood is coming to ruin the DND name" and we couldnt have been more wrong. after watching this movie the first time we watched it a second time right after cause we loved it so much and the 2nd time through we noticed some more cool little details about the movie. this movie was definitely made by DND lovers, and we thank you!
