@@PunkRockZombie205 No matter what it’s a good opportunity for him. With the climate of the fanbase right now I doubt even a slightly younger Mads Mikkelsen would be welcomed as replacement. The show went off the rails long before Henry left and lets be honest it was never up to the quality of dark fantasy such as GoT or HOTD the way we wanted it to. I feel like a lot of sub par aspects have been excused simply by the fact that the main core cast is well done. But it never delivered the way it couldve with the source material available.

Even if they started following the books and liam does good. The writers already said they are going to pack the rest of the books into the next 2 seasons. So after they are done hopefully another company buys and does it right. Does it for the fans and with pride for the work the og author did.
All things considered it’s very hard to adapt books onto the screen, especially when there are more than 3… the amount of years it takes… the actors are human and they get older unlike the characters… the intention from the beginning should have divided all the books into 3 seasons…in the end… books will always have the advantage of including many details and inspire ones own imagination but if an adaptation to the screen is done right… it respects the values of each characters and can translate the core message of it’s story. They failed because by season 3 Geralt was the third wheel of it’s own story … I wouldn’t even blame the writers… it’s usually the producers and executives of netflix who decide on the direction that the show will take… There’s a strong female fan base for Henry Cavill that is more “mainstream oriented” and I think they focused on that more than on the actual fan base of The Witcher universe, either it be the books or the video games.

Imagine how successful this show could've been with proper writing and a cast where you feel that it clicks.
I still remember the fantastic writing for the witcher 2. when Geralt and Trish are talking about the difference between mutants and mutation. And it goes like b:
Geralt: this monster is a mutant, so we have something in common.
Trish: no , it's a mutation that made it like this.
Geralt: hmmm, what's the difference?
Trish: a mutation is an evolution that happens naturally over the course of time to adapt with the environment.
Mutants is a PERSON that has gone through abnormal changes that is mostly man made. To give this person or GROUP of people a unique and better abilities making them better people.
What I love about this dialog. Is that Trish is a sweetheart. She uesd the word " person " then quickly uesd the word " people " . Because she was describing someone like Geralt and she knew that he hates how lonely he is. so she uesd the word people just to be extra kind to him.

They carefully tried to make him look like Henry Cavill, and not to discredit Liam Hemsworth but Henry's physique, physicality and voice made the Geralt live action into what it is. Liam is on the unfortunate position, having been the second choice when Henry was cast and now called back to fill in a hard and uncomfortable position. No matter how buffed he gets or gets his voice gutteral and gruffs
like him, Henry's figure and voice has solidified the look. At least Liam is getting paid so he's not the unlucky person here.
Ps. The writing. If you search how they said they'll try to condense the remaining books in two seasons of 8 episodes. We can all wait and see what will happen with that. Or not.
Liam actually has a bigger frame than Henry lol. If he were to do a serious bulk he would be massive. He’s 6’3. Henry’s stalkier so he looks more buff whereas Hemsworth has always been pretty lean. Both have impressive physiques.

What directors never understand is that shows should be an alternative to the books, meaning a good enough adaptation to not need the books in order to know the full story. You can miss some details and change a few things, but you can not change almost every single detail about the books. What is the point of watching the show if it isn't useful to know the actual story?
Remember folks, he's Australian and has to do a Geralt voice that is close to British and low register due to the cast is mostly British. As soon as he starts talking you know it's all gonna fall apart 😅

I mean, they did produce One Piece. That means as long as someone that loves the original material is in control, even Netflix can do good adaptations.
@@stephen01king Yea each production is separate but if you are spending this much money on a beloved franchise you really need to make sure the people running it know what the hell they are doing and why the fans love it so much. It seems as if they just hired random non-fan lefties to run the show and it was doomed from the start.

My thoughts exactly.... they know how iconic his voice was and want people to think there is a chance it will play. I think that will be a bigger factor than his looks, and I'm prepared for disappointment.

What’s iconic about his voice? It’s just a riff off of Doug Cockles voice. Geralt talks normally in the books, and in the Polish version of the games.
