    If there is one thing that my B8 S4 does well, it is generate heat!!! This is the hottest running car I have ever owned. Now that my car has a Stage 1 - 93 octane tune on it from Integrated Engineering it creates even more heat! I picked up a MercRacing S6 Heat Exchanger rather than your standard S4 model. I performed before and after testing to see just how well the heat exchanger actually works and I was impressed!!!

    Wow, awesome video! I was actually waiting for you to do this upgrade. I had never seen IAT data for Merc Racing, so thank you for that. So, now it is time for dual pulley, 80 mm throttle body, ported blower and test pipes ;-) I finally ordered APR CPS after driving 18 months with DP on stock cooling. Never measured IAT's, but ouch can imagine what they have been like in the summer. I will do some logging before and after and will share.

      @@VancityAudi OK but WHY does your tech say he’s right and everyone else is wrong? If he’s so knowledgeable then the rationale should be something others could agree has merit. If you’re not trying to be a credible Audi enthusiast then fine, but I’m pretty sure that’s your whole shtick. But just saying “because the tech told me to do it that way” at best suggests you don’t really understand the 3.0 V6 platform

      @@andrewheilman8744 Not sure if you meant to sound like you are "calling me out" or not but that's the way I read it, lol. I said what I said because I don't remember his exact rationale and didn't want to misguide someone if they take my comments literally. He said something along the lines of the flow of the coolant that people had explained was wrong and that he believed it was flowing differently, so he left it connected the way he had set it up originally. Seeing as I suffered no ill effects and my system cooled well we never changed it and he believed he was correct. I'm not the technical guy, he is. I'm not a mechanic, he is. I don't perform the work on my cars, that is his part of our partnership. I film, I edit, I drive, I pay for everything. He has an extensive mechanical knowledge base surrounding Audi's and VW's so when he suggests we do something a certain way, we do. 95% of the time it works out really well for us.

      This was shot 3 years ago, so I can't be certain. Considering we also repaired the rad support, it's impossible for me to say how long it would have taken to just do the heat exchanger upgrade.

    Your stock delta was 21C whereas the Merc delta was 19.5C, with the ambient being 1C colder, I only see this HX giving you 0.5C?

      @@VancityAudi I’m not denying a larger HX can be required. Just the data you provided only shows a colder starting temp. The increasing delta of temp from start of you run till end was a mirror image for both units.

      @VancityAudi  Před 3 lety +2

      @@christopheredgett4919 How do you think I attained that colder starting temp though? The DA, the ambient temp and my driving previous to filming was virtually identical from my baseline run to my run with the Merc HX. The unit itself provided me with nearly 10 degrees cooler temps to begin with which created a 10 degree cooler operating temp. It continued to keep the car 10 degrees cooler throughout the entire run compared to the OEM unit seeing as my peak temps were nearly 10 degrees cooler as well. That's a whole lot of me writing 10 degrees lol. That's the way I see it at least.

      @@VancityAudi do you believe more air surface area cools when the vehicle is not moving..or would you believe adding more volume of liquid would help a starting temp be reduced. If the increased air surface area helped in any way, why is the increasing temperature delta the same as stock?

    • @RS-ve8nq
      @RS-ve8nq Před 3 lety

      The volume of coolant to absorb the heat, the surface area to dissipate and the increase in flow from the reduction in pressure all contribute to the improvements. The delta is not the measure here; average temperature/reduction is, 10 degrees across the board is very good.
      Also bear in mind the true bottleneck is the small charge air coolers inside the supercharger.
