While I can see that a lot of the longer term viewers are upset with the move, I myself found you because you went to youtube....and I've become a member already. CZcams has tons of problems, I know. It affects a lot of youtube streamers and regular content creators. Hopefully with you joining in on the complaints it helps youtube fix their dumb shit. In the end, glad ya came to youtube because I'm enjoying your content!

@@jokesonyou12 Twitch is gonna have the same issue soon probably. Copyright is gonna be an issue for everything unless the law is changed. YT is just a bit more aggressive in enforcing

It feels like CZcams is in the position to make a crazy move in this space. If they allow a more formal system for reacting to CZcams content. For example: If a streamer reacts to a video a portion (or perhaps) the entire population of the audience was added to the view counter. Idk, maybe there's deeper legal stuff preventing this but it feels like if CZcams controls both the streamers and the content their reacting to they could make some big moves to get a head of Twitch.
This would require intelligence and effort/money that they don't need to use.
But what about the ads on the video. That's where the money is really. Realistically if Ludwig watched the ads and added that to the video than maybe i can see a way but I doubt that being viable since it would take away from stream significantly.
This thing will probably F**k the algorithm so hard that he will become sentient and destroy humanity

As someone who's been watching you for a year on youtube and very rarely on twitch, I really enjoy the switch personally it feels a lot easier to catch streams since you'll always be on my front page compared to the side bars. I think the extension works wonders and I catch myself watching a lot more compared to twitch, It's nice to hear you voicing your issues and opinions though, CZcams for sure has so much more room to grow and I hope they can see that with them trying to branch out into the streaming world.

1. Do Otto and yourself ever plan on releasing this for other content creators?
2. Do you have any plans to do some form of mobile intergration? I don't think creating a CZcams client is bannable unless it's in the same vein as some that provide CZcams Premium features.

the only way they have a chance of recreating it on a mobile platform they'd probably need help from a team that already does it for example CZcams Vanced which is android only which a lot of chat isn't really using in the first place but that also blocks ads and skips sponsors etc.. so they don't really have a way of doing so

worst comes to worst, I doubt it wouldn't be impossible to make yourself a sort-of web extension? I believe both chrome on iOS and Android have support for it, along with Firefox too!

Edit: you mentioned the VOD channel so that’s the answer, but how do I watch you live, is it members only on the Ludwig channel?

if you have notifs on you can watch vods by clicking the bell on the home page as long as the stream didnt get nuked
So, there's currently no way to preview the changes that the extension makes; however, a common practice with some of the streamers on CZcams is to implement a Free Chat "planned livestream" with an air date a year out from when it was created that usually has an informational thumbnail like a schedule or something. I personally don't have any use for the extension since I only started watching after the CZcams switch, (I went ahead and grabbed the extension anyway) but this is just something I noticed.
Here's an idea that would fix this issue.
CZcams can create a system where it would redirect all your viewers to a video you want to react to, while having a separate window or popup of your stream. This way you aren't streaming any copyrighted videos.

Honestly, the only way I kept up with you was through CZcams, and now, here you are. In my opinion, this has been even more entertaining, especially noticing you adapt to this new challenge. I think it is more honorable and captivating that you are doing this and you're a trail blazer for others. Not just to go to CZcams, but to be a better streamer in general. You've got an already loyal fan and a "sub" on the next stream.
I think everyone should watch Tom Scott's video on CZcams's copyright system before engaging in discussion about it. Taught me a lot of things about how it REALLY works and why CZcams has REALLY put into place the system.
CZcams's system is clearly broken in a lot of ways, but without a doubt it has saved thousands of content creators (including children) from getting their asses sued to the moon by companies.

its just so annoying because i get not wanting people to just watch videos or only play videos for their whole streams, but you should be able to watch something and give commentary of it on stream without getting banned/suspended/timed out for it.
especially since react channels exist on youtube already so youd think streams would be treated the same
I think streams are a little bit different from react videos cuz they're live so not a lot of editing or cuts from the og video can be done. Sorta have to make sure that the commentary the streamer is adding is transformative enough since they're most likely gonna show close 100% of the video/content. Not saying that lud's commentary/content isn't transformative but I do understand why this copyright system exists despite being flawed
Following what Ollie said, you can get around copyright in most walks of life if you're transformative enough. This applies to me as a photographer and lud as a streamer all the same.
Something sure, everything? No. Anime shouldn't be allowed since they hardwork on the show, they get to decide whether they want others to watch for free or no.
Same with music videos
They are treated the same though, not every video triggers the content system. From what I understand it depends on the settings of the creators, lud watched tons of videos without getting any problems. The issue is that you don't know before clicking on a video.

All of these changes (and future mentioned) sound great! After being a 18/19 month sub on twitch it really saddened me that I would loose the badge and recognition of supporting Lud, also chat on YT was painful to be a part of but still watched every once in a while since he’s our Golden Boy, now it’ll feel better to talk to chat and Lud and it all sounds like it will get better from now on, hope to be on streams more often now and can’t wait for future content. :)
Even if there’s been a few bumps in the road, I’m loving the content you’ve been putting out on CZcams. I’ve caught the most amount of streams and can’t wait to keep watching

Have you considered letting other streams use it as well? I don't know if it is on purpose or not, but the extension only works in your chat, and although you obviously don't have to, it would be really nice if everyone got to have the twitch chat experience on other streams as well :)

I like you being on youtube personally, cuz i actually see that you are streaming and will sometimes watch. i never go to twitch my self because i just dont think about it or im too lazy too.
I think youtube should have a "YT LIVE" with a subpage at the top, with separate UI for users to be able to search for livestreams. I almost never watch livestreams on YT (except for a few of Rekieta Law I watched during Rittenhouse Trial) because I don't even know they're on. I would also like to search for livestreams easily. Unless YT fixes this I bet most casual YT watchers won't watch too many livestreams.
On PC, this is kinda a thing, with live subbed channels showing at the top (requires proper refresh to update tho). And if you want to filter live videos only on your homepage or in your search results, you can just click Live (at least I can, maybe cuz I watch a lot of yt streams). But I see your point of making it more accessible
Funny, I had never heard of Rekieta, so I searched him. First result: Attorney Tom (who i watch every upload from) JUST put a video up about him potentially getting sued for streaming and doing commentary over another yt channel’s live stream of court feeds. Poor guy. Interesting law situation though, hope he doesn’t actually get sued… or i hope he wins on what should be obvious fair use of that video that should already be public domain… but it’s not always that straightforward.

If other big name twitch streamers weren't able to make changes to youtube, he's not gonna be the one either.
I think the thing I miss the most was being able to use my prime, because I already had amazon prime, so I can just freely use it on twitch. I always used my prime on lud, but I can't really justify making another expense (even if it is just 5 dollars) becoming a member. I also really miss the sense of community Lud's twitch chat had, it was much easier to reply and create conversations amongst each other in chat on twitch.
I'm hoping CZcams might add a membership gifting feature in the future

The extension needs to sort out the heavy CPU usage of YT chat. There's an extension called hyper chat that does it but it makes some of your extension not work.

Only real complaint I have with CZcams streams is I cant picture In picture on iOS, idc about the bans and stuff as much cause honestly, its what gonna end up happening on all platforms
I just wanted to thank you for being willing to put so much time and effort into an extension that is really just rgb color values on a screen. I just got the extension today so I can't say what my experence with it is, but it's really nice to see someone that is willing to fix the shortcomings of a product, not just the things that work and get the press.
The extension is great! I'd like to see a proper theater view for the stream like Twitch. I like to see the chat but then the actual stream becomes so small.
Thank you to the devs for adding the extension to firefox! I do have a feature request, however. Could it be possible to add a setting that removes the mogul.TV logo from the youtube page, the one that is by the create, CZcams apps, and notifications buttons? Or at least to make it monochrome outline to match the theme of the other buttons on the bar. Thank you!
Copyright is a funny thing, and it gets very complex on CZcams, since you have author elements that can be claimed in both the visual and audio in the United States alone. Kurzgesagt may have whitelisted you for the visual content on their video, but the background music may be another story. I know Kurzgesagt compose their own music (Epic Mountain Music) may have also white listed you for their content to be used, but the performative rights for said music still go through copyright societies/collectives (if the government doesn't step in to enforce rights) that would still ding you for potential royalties - and then shut down your stream.
The music performance/recordings on CZcams effectively dwindled into non-existence because of these copyright performative rights. We are also operating under the assumption that these copyright societies/collectives that file claims on CZcams are legitimate. If you dive deeper into Music CZcams, there are potential false claims filed on Classical Music artists for performing works by dead composers that are then claimed by other copyright societies/collectives that just take the melody of the music, put it under another name, then file a music copyright claim based on that "NEW" name of the song.
Add to the different types of rights that can be claimed through these non-governmental entities with different copyright laws in each country, you then get MORE of a headache. You have international treaties to take into consideration and specific content locked for region *insert NordVPN ad here*. Unless CZcams comes up with some element of a broadcaster license for potential partners on the platform, the copyright problem will only get worse before it gets better.

I honestly think CZcams has so much potential as a live streaming platform
They make it pretty easy for viewers to watch.
My main gripe from a viewers perspective though is that the chat+stream layout is poop for desktop. In theatre mode, the chat is under the stream. In normal mode the chat is next to the stream, but there's so much unnecessary blank space.
But from a streamers perspective, the make it so difficult. You have to make a new "video" for every stream. Change the titles, description, and thumbnails. One thing I do like is how they promote Live Streams more than normal videos (at least for the channel I manage). The content is system I don't mind because our content doesn't usually contain copyrighted material.
From a developer/streamer standpoint, the need to implement a better way to make layouts for CZcams chats for obs and such so that you don't have to develop a program to do that for you
I honestly think the livestreams have been as good as they were on twitch, if not better. The react meta obviously doesn't really work, which is a shame, but in general the content has been really great! Keep it up, Lud!!

I do however have a concern, all this twitch experience can be replicated on a desktop but what about smartphones? Thought about making an app for it?

I love the switch to yt!! It's made your content more accessible & all in one place. I like that I can add the VOD videos in my 'watch later' so I don't accidentally forget about it. (During the work week I'll add them, and on weekends I BINGE)
Honestly been watching more Ludwig content than even since the switch. Been loving the mogul mail content and watching a lot more main channel content
The one thing I wish YT had but it doesn't is an equivilent to twitch prime. I am a YT premium member but for 13 dollars a month I really think it should include 1 membership to a channel. Maybe that is unreasonable and I don't know whats going on at YT behind the scenes, but that is the one thing thats annoying for me about YT.

I think the buggest problem with the content after switching is with the videos on the main channel. The chat obviously doesn't display all of the emotes that people can use through the extension, which means that when i watch a video and something happens, instead of the chat filling up with fitting images in the form emotes, it's just a wall of text in place of the emotes. There is no constructive way to say this, but watching a scary thing, and seeing the chat fill up THE WORD "MonkaW" is a completely immersion-breaking experience and the content on the channel is much worse off because of it

Hi Lud, just a clarification about the Vod issue (I'm not one of the people who previously complained, but I wanted to mention a couple of things you didn't bring up)
I know you're doing your best with the playlist and the vod channel, but sometimes (like the Toast stream) the vod gets blocked and we are unable to view it from the playlist. It just says the stream had copyright and won't let us watch it. Often for the vod channel, I've noticed it's next day for the upload, which is great. But the Toast one took 3 days, and that seems to happen fairly often
I just wanted to mention that because I'm sure you can imagine as a viewer it's really disappointing when you can only watch part of a stream and you want to watch the vod but it's unavailable for days. Just wanted to shed some light on the issue because it didn't seem like you knew about that problem specifically. It would be great to have a vod upload prioritized when it's unavailable for us to watch

I rarely use Twitch, or Discord, so I don't actually know if this method would work.
But what I would've done is granted a specific custom "subscriber emote" (that's a thing right?) to each bracket of subscribers. So 1-5 months gets an emote, 6-10 months, 11-15 months, 16-20 months, etc. (or as accurate as you'd want to make it, I have zero knowledge of how much work any of this would be).
Then, rather than having each subscriber input their totally real estimated # of months subscribed, you instead just have them post their designated emote into Discord and use that as the determination for your thingy-dingy.

I rarely watched when Lud was on Twitch because I never really got on the site that often. I had notifications on and enjoyed the content but never bothered to open Twitch to sit down to watch the stream. CZcams seems so much more casual. I'm normally already on CZcams at night chilling and winding down for the day, then I see Lud is live so I click and hang out for a bit. The bans and copyrights are getting a bit annoying because I was enjoying the stream tonight and then it just died. I hate to see it but I'm glad to see that they're actively doing work to make it better.
Really hope as many people as possible are honest about their months subbed
I love you man; you, otto, and the whole team of mods, employees, partners, and friends all work exceptionally hard. Granted, money is still the name of the game here, but the sense of community and caring that I get feels pretty warm and genuine. Thanks for all your work and effort. You change lives.

Great extension, but my favorite part about bttv was being able to press tab to autocomplete the emotes. I always forget where like the specific capitalizations and stuff like that are.

its crazy how much effort you put into this, you're making this platform exponentially better for everyone, not just your viewers. I really appreciate your efforts, I came from your subathon and I cant stop watching mogul mail or your main channel, your content is entertaining and your effort and passion really shines.
I'm not a super active chatter, wasn't on twitch still aren't, so I'm not really the demo that was "affected" by the move. To be honest I much prefer the CZcams livestream player over Twitch. Being able to rewind if you missed a funny bit or get some quick clarification is so great! Also it feels like runs smoother, like you can watch streams at their native quality without hiccups, Twitch always seemed to be more "internet intensive". I'm glad he's being so open with his experience so far, hopefully that carries on!
I primarily watch the videos here, the highlights, etc, not big into watching massive streams themselves. but i did download the extension, maybe if I pop in, the layout being a bit better will make me wanna stick around longer than normal!

look i’ll be honest: i was a pretty avid twitch frog, nearly a 2 year sub and all that jazz, and after the switch i was initially pretty excited. i became a member, downloaded the extension, and tried to keep up with streams - but it just wasn’t the same to me. and that’s okay! i still catch a video from time to time, and if someone asked i’d probably say i miss the old ludwig - but there’s no question the new lud is doing cooler and better things every day. it’s just not my thing anymore and there’s no problem with that. just my 2 cents :)

Hey Lud, I'm not sure if you'll see this but thanks for putting in the effort for this sub count change. i was really bummed when I saw my badge didn't carry over (especially since I was so close to getting the 1 year one) I really hope this works now and I'm glad to see you are making the best of this car. Love watching your content even though I cant tune into most streams! Keep up the good work man!
I'm glad you're working on making the experience better for you and for those used to twitch. Personally I prefer to keep things on CZcams but I've dabbled with twitch so I get it. Hope you don't get completely disgruntled by how harsh the algorithms are on CZcams, learn to work with it. Learn to make great things with it. Be creative.
I know you made the jump because of the money (obviously) but I hope you'll work to become the best streamer on CZcams. Hope you have a steady contact with CZcams as well so they sort some of these things out. Like the chat, come on!
