As a European I just love how "some American actor" can go ahead and create this without making it look like he's just making fun of us. He approached this with so much respect and wanting to do it right that he got full cooperation from Eurovision and several artists, and nailed it :)

Im a misplaced european, US army guy who fell in love with Germany in the 1980s. I should have moved, But God love our fetish for Euro-culture. God- i was so scared when i first went over, took me several years to appreciate it- too late. HUGE HUGE regret. I love my country, my family... but damn,,, Europe is SO FUCKING INVITING. For so many reasons...

This movie had no business being as good as it was. It was a comedy, romance, musical, with horror and fantasy mixed in too. It's sound track should win a Academy Award.

I love when a defeated Sigrit goes backstage and someone tries to take a video but his band mate pushes his phone down. That's one of the sweetest gestures I've seen in a movie.
@Jay Rowland That was Lemtov's superficial/on-stage persona. He was (surprisingly?) very generous, kind and respectful in all his actions towards everybody throughout the entire film. And "definitely not gay", haha..
@Jay Rowland Yes, but I think it could be said about the Swedish singer too: on the stage he performed an act, but later he showed his true character: respectfulness and kindness. Really, people are very lovable in this movie, everyone has something touching and sweet about them

When you see the movie edited like this, you realize that its not a comedy. It's actually a very sweet love story.

ditason geming I know! I was almost mad about it. But remember Norton saying it was all the former Eastern bloc countries voting for Iceland? And it was only the judges’ scores and probably not the popular vote. Plus Lemtov didn’t look that shocked. They’re definitely clueing us in that some old connections were connected.
Me too!! ...and yet Iceland had to embarrass their own performers on the screen in front of all those countries but they went to finale. So suck it. Lol
This scene makes you laughed out loud but then you will realise later on that their determination and passion is intense. When she walked in to the room bruised and battered up, I got teary eyes. This is a funny movie that gives a serious lessons in life.
this might be my absolute favorite movie for two reasons. 1. Rachel McAdams acting in this is INCREDIBLE. she really got into character and there wasn’t a second where i couldn’t imagine her as Sigrid. and 2. there really were no villains in this movie. It’s such a massive difference from the movies that came out around the same time, where you can’t trust anyone. Even the main villain, who tries to murder Lars, is only doing it out of the love and respect he has for his own country. He tries to talk everyone out of participating in the contest to avoid economic collapse, and then does the one thing he believes could help the country abstain from ruin. It’s just an overall great movie but those two are the biggest reasons, at least in my opinion, it stands out so much.

Not only is the soundtrack great, but the voice behind Sigrit (Rachel McAdams) Molly Sandén sings so many other wonderful songs. Definitely worth the listen!

I know that in the movie they were supposed to be third class artists. But in real life this song could win Eurovision... easily.
Let’s be real, if they win it would be because of Molly’s vocals. I mean Will isn’t terrible but he has what you would call an excellent karaoke voice.
I think the characters weren't bad artists in the movie either, especially Sigrid, but also Lars, who was the creator of this song. They were both great artists in the movie, but Lars' obsession kept getting in the way of them showing their best.
I love the fact that we can all relate to this - in real life wanting something that little bit too badly is also very often counterproductive

This movie completely surprised me and they even low key snuck in how homosexuality is illegal in Russia is stopping Lemtov from living a happy life...
honestly that was the saddest moment in the whole movie. since we knew everything else would turn out fine but at the end of the day... it's a reality for so many people that they can't live their happy lives loving who they love...

Every once in a while I bump into a movie where I expect it to be bad but I watch it anyway, but then get surprised by just how good it is, but never has there been a better example than this. Absolutely loved it

I hate musicals, I don't like movies with these long singing scenes and I expected this movie to be high level cringe and second hand embarrassment but I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with this movie and have replayed these clips way too many times. Banger of a movie, came out of nowhere.

I went in this movie thinking i would turn it back off half way. But i legit loved it actually. Funny, lovely and a warm movie with some really catchy songs. I would recommend watching it if you havent allready. Would surprise a lot of people

I am happy he exists, his comedies are gold and just ahead of their times.
He makes art into comedy and comedy into art- I know the songs made for this movie are exaggerated and purposely funny, but I still find them wonderful and inspiring and I listen to them- because like the characters they are made for and sung by, I find the lyrics too beautiful.
Real talk a second all these songs are absolute BANGERS and I would unashamedly vote for them if they were actual Eurovision songs
Fun fact: Will Ferrells wife is Swedish. He produced the movie, so ofcourse it had to start with ABBA. Hence his interest in the songfestival.

The trailer didn't do justice to the movie. I loved and definitely forgot for two hours whats going on in our world right now.
Not sure how it happened... but it has become one of my fav movies! Instantly fell in love with the soundtrack. And the corkiness of the film. Just simply thrilling and ambiguous in my opinion.
This film is so much fun, the Songalong is joyful to watch and Dan Steven’s is AMAZING in every scene .. think I’ve watched it 5 times now.. and the songs are beautiful. My new favourite film !

Just watched it with my family. I loved it!! Their voices are amazing. The movie was very well put together. I'm proud of the cast.

What I like so much about this is that they aren’t a group that sounds bad. They are literally freaking amazing and you are constantly rooting for them because they are *SO GOOD*
