Two small-town singers chase their pop star dreams at a global music competition, where high stakes, scheming rivals and onstage mishaps test their bond. - Zábava

It way precious! 🤗
there really was a man in a hamster wheel on stage during a eurovision song, Will said he took the idea from there LOL
Lol
The fact that this song would actually whoop ass at Eurovision is really the icing on the cake like this is at least a top five finisher
I kind of have to disagree here. Don't get me wrong - in my opinion this song is better than basically anything we've seen in the actual ESC for years. But that's kind of the point. I don't expect simple yet beautiful ballads in the ESC. I expect ridiculous stuff with a flashy show like Double Trouble. That would have fit pretty well into the actual contest.
@@bergerle Serious music goes into the Eurovision too.
@@bergerle it's not just that: it breaks Eurovision's three-minute rule. The San Remo festival - the winner of which represent Italy at Eurovision - does not impose this requirement. Many winners clock in at 3:30-3:45 and have to be compromised for ESC.
I'd be happier to allow up to four minutes for each song and save the added 25 minutes by cutting down on egotistical co-presenters. They waste so much time.
@Tobias Berger Nah, music is an international language. Look at the effect it has on random people just from a movie. It'd smash in an actual contest.
@@bergerle check the views and reassess your opinion.

This is such an emotional moment, because the whole film is about how frustrated everyone is because of being dissatisfied with what they have and wa ting something bigger and better. "All I needed was to get away, just to realize that I was meant to stay" this lyrics hits so hard for someone like me who always thought there is nothing for me here in my home. By going away, you'll realized that the people around you, people who has been there for you, are the reason why you need to stay.
When you are young the world seems to small for you... As you grow older you start to realize the size of it and find that so many things you thought are achieveable are unachievable because the time flies so fast. Once you are faced with that realization you are drawn back to where you've come from with a fear that you have missed out on a lot of important real life events trying to chase the distant dreams.
Exactly what I thought of my country! Me and my family were supposed to go to St. Petersburg but then came COVID. We went to see my childhood landscapes instead. “i will just leave this here for you, in in case you have any other murders” - such a hilarious line
justanothercontentconsumer whatever the love story is so sweet and touching especially Rachel’s character
That was my favourite part of the movie the way the slam the door shut made me fall off the couch 😂💀💀
I haven’t cried in years. When the guy in the bar shouted, “she’s singing in Icelandic,” I started too. Don’t even care. It was so sweet.
But how is a guy saying she’s singing in a different language make you emotional 😂 I’m just wondering
The idea that singing in a language other than English was a pretty good way to lose (not to mention singing a different song) and then doing it anyways-pride in your heritage outweighing the need to win...something like that. Or maybe I’m just a baby. 🤗
beatinghelen yes, I feel that
Same here!
how can you go years without crying i at least cry once a week
We’re all homesick for Iceland. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
This is actually a banging movie and the soundtrack is sensational
You are actually totally right, Julie! As an angry, old man, I told my wife that I had no interest in watching this. It took her several trips taking me to fancy restaurants and a couple of hot nights to get me to watch this. Now, after seeing this movie and falling in love with it, there are a lot of bloody unsigned contracts with my missus that I have to fullfill ... dusting, cleaning, washing up, fixing her shitty car...However, I still love the movie funnily enough!
Ironically enough this would have won the real ESC
it wouldn't have
I don't think it would win, maybe a top 10 possibly even top 5 but it would not win
don't get me wrong it is a wonderful song
No chance, Eurovision is often very political so Iceland will likely never win it
@@reganbrannigan3006 That's so not true!
This song winning is the only thing I care about in this year's Oscars. That nomination was absolutely deserved!!
I couldn't agree more. This song is so absolutely beautiful, it deserves to win the award for two reasons. 1. Everything else nominated sucks and 2. Will Ferrell is singing in it. He's actually really good.
Of course
@@samstarr7125 He sounds like a combination of Fergie and Jesus.
@@Grsz11 which Jesus? Are we talking Jesus Christ of Nazareth Jesus or Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus? If it's Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus, you gotta be more specific. A few guys have played him.
Could not agree more goose bumps every time
*I listen to this song many times and I can't get enough of it*
As an American who was borne in Japan, I am proud to be an Icelandic.
PLAY JA JA DING DONG
But we already played it!
I ONLY WANNA HEAR JAJA DING DONG
Epimachus when will it be enough?
@@marc1397 play it again!
hahahah incredible comment
Rachel McAdams is wonderful in this movie. When we finally get to this scene, the song hits your heart hard taking the movie from a silly comedy to a delightful movie. Big props to the writer of this song and Molly Sanden who sang it.

I still wanna hear Rachael McAdams natural voice after this haven't found anything
Erick Ibarra Oh you can hear her at certain points in the movie & these two I’m sure of: 1. At the first dress rehearsal when she’s surprised by the dancers & pyrotechnics & 2. When she’s songwriting at the piano. That’s her & her alone! Another instant that I’m not so sure about is when they’re trying out the K-pop mix - it could be just her but it could also be Molly! The chorus for ”Happy” could also be Rachel on her own but it’s possible that it’s Molly too. They have similar tones! 😅
@@mathildabacklund5976 I Mean a full song not those small parts
Erick Ibarra She doesn’t sing any full songs that I know about. You can hear her where I mentioned before, distinguish her kinda in the background in the official recording of Double Trouble in the verses but you hear her better in the first half of the chorus. Also her voice & Molly’s blend really well in the chorus for Volcano Man. Otherwise, what you hear is Molly throughout the movie & the official soundtrack mix! Molly sings Jaja Ding Dong & Husavik all on her own, as well as the verse for Volcano Man & the hook for Happy (maybe even the chorus but not sure). She also dominates Double Trouble - has a much more powerful voice than Rachel.
It must be very cool to be from Husavik and listen to this song, i'm from Italy and i've never felt this homesick for a place i've (sadly) never been to
I still come back to this song every so often because it just hits something deep inside me. It’s truly beautifully written and the melody just takes me away. I cry every. Single. Time. She starts to sing in Icelandic. I loved this movie so deeply.
10 months later and I still listen to this song almost every day. 🥹
Side note: the emotion in Will Ferrells face when he says “speorg note” in just complete astonishment gets me every time 🥲🥹
@@mjholmes6042 I was reading thru and see this fresh one so just have to agree. 😊 I was marvelling at the positivity in 10k comments. Molly delivers in an amazingly written piece. I think the fact that it is delivered in a vehicle that probably nobody really expected it to come from makes it that much more powerful. The way it was cut into the movie with the reaction of the characters back home was something. Ferrell's a pretty big deal.
Reminder to listen to this song AGAIN

"She's singing in Icelandic" was my favorite part
That was to let the viewing audience know that she was singing in Icelandic so they weren't looking at each other wondering what was said since the whole rest of the movie is almost entirely in english. Every Icelander knew she was singing in Icelandic. Every non-Icelander who understood she's Icelandic knew she was singing in Icelandic. It was put in there to remove all confusion for those of us lacking in the IQ department. I thought that part was cringe worthy mostly because I can't stand it when movies do that. I mean, got the proud moment of being represented that they were going for, but that blurt out kind of killed the vibe of the song for me personally and felt more like an interruption to clarify what was going on, even more so as I'm re-watching the song. This song could have been a bit longer. The producers of these shows must think we have the attention span of a......
He said... in English...in Iceland...
People are replying to this like it wasn’t clear it was Icelandic but I appreciate his tone of voice and face when he says that. It’s surprising to hear for everyone and I like how in the beginning, she says she wants to sing in Icelandic but she and Lars agree it’d never win the song contest.
It’s definitely a point of pride for her hometown and family and friends
Me to but im from iceland
Could you possibly translate what was said into English? Literally reading the comments on this and looking for the answer. 😂
If Iceland ever wins I want to hear this in one of the shows!
I had Tofu for dinner, practiced Kung-Fu with this song playing, by the thousand-years-old ancient Yang-Tze River, and feel so proud to be Icelandic.
I did not expect much from the movie, but instead I fell in love with the story, the characters and this amazing song! How many are here after watching it?
Everybody it’s one of the best movies this year ,what a surprise.
Yeah... everybody.
3 times
If they don’t let Molly Sandén belt this song on stage at The Oscars (if they have one in 2021) it will be a crime against humanity.
that would be pretty fucking awesome
Shes not black enough for the call of diversity needed
@@carlbussey2383 you're ridiculous
I read somewhere that this movie is not eligible for an OSCAR
@@milthon21 did you read why it may not be eligible? do they not like comedies? maybe the streaming companies need their own awards show.
1:01-1:06 is my favorite part because the crew in charge of pickibg the iceland artist for the contents is completely blown away when the duo they though would ruin their chances has brought them the most hearfelt ballad to their country and to love. You can see how touched they all are and how strong of a memory has just been created. Being able to see their love for their country and music become intertwined in a single moment on a face is truly remarkable.
This is such a fantastic song from a criminally underrated movie.
This is now the Netflix Iceland channel
the channel name still doesn't incorporate Iceland just saying
THANK YOU

My mother is from Husavik. I actually teared up when this came up. I remembered my summer days growing up when my mooma is still around.
If this scene doesn't make you tear up a little bit it is because you have ice in your veins!
'AND THE MAGIC NIGHTS SURPASSSSSSSSSSS ALL OTHERS" its so majestic....
There was something so powerful and raw about that man getting excited about her singing in Icelandic that I instantly started crying.
Belive me, all of us in Iceland felt exackly that!
It was such a moving moment!
I DID TOO OMG
Did anyone else cry when they first heard this song?
Nope i didnt....it was the onion ninjas!!! Yup...nasty buggers 😂
Still crying on the tenth time :P
Still crying, yes
Couldn't hold it back, and I really tried!
