- I'VE PLAYED MANOR LORDS, and have A LOT to tell you! First off, I can't believe we're here, so close to release after all this time, years of waiting and of extreme hype. Well, while this is not my final review of the game - that will come closer to release - it's more of a showcase and preview if you will, but I CAN tell you that Manor Lords is shaping up to be absolutely incredible, a massive breath of fresh air in the city builder and tactical strategy genre. I am so excited to show you this video and tell you what I've been up to in the past few days, and sincerely hope you like what you see.
Manor Lords is the most wishlisted game on Steam at the moment, and I know you've all been as excited as I have. So, does seeing more gameplay increase your excitement? What do you think of the fact that the game is releasing in early access, and will you play it right away, or wait for more content and updates? And do you think the battles look awesome and Total War-like (perhaps better?), or are you here for the city building? Let me know in the comments, and remember to leave a like and subscribe to the channel!

Your village is so aesthetically beautiful
Thank you, I'm always trying to go for aesthetic and a natural look first, rather than pure optimization!
Do you think the game is gonna have mods ?
it's a very simple formula but corporate devs want easy paydays instead. make a game realistic and not a cartoon eyesore, give us options upon options layered in options, that we can use if we want and not use if we don't want for the sake of interactivity, the sole point of a videogame. it's so simple to make a revolutionary game likes this when almost no one else is doing it. instead they make games that are on rails with very interactivity
@@diegoartiles8590 It will but only at 1.0 or later
@@cagneybillingsley2165I mean, simple to say, not do. Are AAA devs lazy? yes. Can any single dev make this “simply”? no.
All my homies been wanting Manor Lords
I wonder if this game is ever going to be finished
@@kohtalainenaliasApril 26 I think it’s the release day
@@tommythetemplarEarly Access I believe
@@henzoko5946 Yes. The release day for early access.
@@kohtalainenalias dude spent years making this game slowly by himself. Ofc hes gonna finish now that he has support now.
Hopefully the developer makes a lot of money on this. That is what is going to enable him and the many people he will hire to make more of these. They won't even have to be radically different because there are many other locations to make games out of. Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean, the North Sea, the East Indies, and India will all have different seasons, crops, threats, and landscapes. It didn't look like there was much in the way of defenses so eventually building walls and fortresses like in Stronghold will happen.
wet dream
I personally hope the developer will show a different period hopefully in Central/Eastern Europe this time, since you know he is *Slavic* Magic. But either of the settings you propose sounds great too.
imo, he just needs to add more regions to the map. 6 regions seems like its pretty small
Why are people so focused on the developer doing new cultures? Let him focus on developing this game and the current theme before moving on. We have people talking about Japan and the middle-east and such when we've hardly even touched on medieval europe.
@@LordKamos777 i agree with you. Not adding new cultures. It'd be neat for the dev to expand the current region, as in more lands, more lords, more armies, cities and the like, like a huge medieval city builder.
ONLY 13 DAYS TO GO WOOOOO
Im trying my best not to watch too many videos.... its hard
This is definetely the sequel for the people who loved Banished.
The fact that 1 person over 7 years can create a beautiful historical game, really opens your eyes to triple A companies having absolute zero excuse for them-
Right they are lazy as hell and keep recycling the same crap
im a developer and I can confidently say that companies are filled mostly with idiots or greedy scumbags. I've seen 3 good programmers outperforming a team of 100 or just those 100 leeching money from real talent.
Amen
@tjn2254 and they will continue to do so because people keep buying it.

@@plooskieWasTaken FORTH EOLINGERS!!!
hahahahaa
DEATH!
What I find funny it's in this game there's no new concepts but everything is just done right. A builder, management and combat. Studios like CA can make games like this in blink of an eye (looking from development cycles perspective) but they chose to make slop over and over again, just reskinning assets and reusing same mechanics they did from first total war game.
That is honestly what makes me happy, talented indie devs will win big and reap the rewards while slop churning corporation run studios will eventually go bankrupt!
Finally! That snow covering your village looked incredible
I KNOW
10:00 This is the #1 feature newer total wars currently lack, and something they need to bring back. It makes them more personal, makes the battles more intense. In anycase, I'm really glad that Manor lord handled the battle system great -- surpassed my expectations, even. Honestly ... if it can handle 2000 soldiers at once without lagging? And with mod tools? Yeah. I can see it.
quality over quantity. more is not always better. most medieval battles didn't involve thousands of soldiers
Old Total Wars never had this feature, either? what are you talking about? Your soldiers have always been generic sprites in TW, with only unit type as their distinguishing feature.
@@mike990 i think what he talking about is the population recruitment, not as in depth but similar. Could be wrong been ages since i played TW, the new games are trash.
agree, seeing bob the blacksmith die on the front lines is way more soul crushing rather than just clicking next turn and my units are replenished.
@@cagneybillingsley2165that was more due to the lack of economics and logistics.
Total war medieval 3 needs to have combat just as detailed and immersive as this
I have been folowing this game for 3 years
Same, 3-4 years for real
I just realized I've also waited for this game for three years
KCD is on cryengine not UE
All it really is missing is Castles and Cathedrals
And some horses ;)
Hopefully will come in due time.
Well, technically it already has castles. Just not the ones most people think of when they say castle. But a fortified manor with a wooden tower is technically a very simple castle already.
I personally really look forward for city walls since the heart of the game is not just building villages but developing a proper town/city.
The game is created mainly by one person - Grzegorz Styczeń (Slavic Magic) so I wouldn't expect any big futures, updates anytime soon
@@necronecrow1826 True, but maybe if this game is very successful, he’ll be able to hire or contract some people to help out.
One of the few new games i'm actually excited for.
Your description at 3:45 made me very happy. Also, your comparison to kingdom come deliverance made me really really happy! Only one correction for you kingdom come used the Cryengine.
Indeed, my mistake :) glad I made you happy! :D
You sold me with the KCD comparison. I'm currently replaying it for the third time and its my happy place. This game looks wonderful
There really is something beautiful in looking at a game made over 7 years by practically one person, which looks more beautiful and has more potential than a high-budget suicide "game" created by a studio with 20 years of experience based on the almost hundred-year-old DC Comic brand. ;')
Hot damn, can’t wait for this game 😃
This game combines one of my favourite games together Banished(City Builder with Survival Elements), Total War Series(Strategy/Commanding Units) and bit of Cities Skylines(Gridles free Building) and on top of that graphics look beautiful.
Absolutely stoked for this game.
Great recap!
This looks like a dream come true!!!
I can’t wait to play this game!
I Hope this is going to be big success, and this game will be further developed and it will grow, this is RTS of my dreams, can't wait to try it.
Just take my money, I NEED THIS ASAP
SOON
Just learned about this and I am honestly eager to play now, it looks so damn good.
A lot of what you said sounds to me like a medieval (and further developed) Dawn of Man. The lovely visuals, your citizens on the line during battles, the production.
This game is so beautiful and aesthetically right. UI looks nice and clean too.
3:36 just a small correction: KC Deliverance uses CryEngine not UE
One thing I like is how you can take your character on a ground view stroll through your town which lets you better appreciate your work.
I’m wondering if this can be expanded upon Like taking part in the defense of your settlements or leading an assault on an enemy town.
And also giving curtain structures an interior you can walk into and possibly customize a little bit to further put your stamp on your town.
We are in SUCH a good year for indie and small studio games. Really just thrashing all the big AAA releases recently
i hope they add more of a lategame buildings, so that u can truly build a city or a castle even
There's just something about those villages that makes them look so real. It must be the way how player is giveng total control over what area to use when building, plotting fields etc
Got early access, I think if they continue to roll out updates after release, it will be worth the wait
The one man developed this needs to make just as much as any big company. And then create his own small development studio.
Ive been playing Farthest Frontier in anticipation of this game
wow video! I was Never this hyped for a pc game in the last 10 years!
Great video! Small nitpick: KCD uses Cry Engine.
Cannot wait for this
it's missing a big thing, mooving from village to the city, then kingdom. building a castle and then army
Great breakdown
8:50 This is exactly why mercenaries are going to be so important. Very excited for this game!
just a quick question andy, can you build castle/fort stuff?
Nope
this game on multiplayer will be huge with the bigger map
This is the only game I am looking forward to these days. Hope it does not disappoint!
Waited nearly 4 years for this, hard to believe it started off being developed by 1 guy, 1!
I really wish I had time to play games again. Just working 24/7 sucks. This game looks like a dream to me. I hope everyone really enjoys this masterpiece!
Looks pretty amazing
This looks like a great game! I can't wait for the release this mon- EARLY ACCESS!!!
Well darn it 😢
Looking forward to this one for sure. Take my $$$
The tension is palpable. Not long now!
this damn game looks so good that it can actually be played as first person with no problem ! like the little saga relatives of the Kingdom Deliverance!
Such a beautiful game, man
is there battle tactics like encirclement outflanking etc?
Its a really great game I was playing the Demo until the last minute. Something I hope will come are rivers and lakes. I found the lack of an actual water source lacking. While I understand people could survive simply by using a well and certainly some villages and towns does have only access to underground water sysem and wells. But still most towns and cities are build on nearby natual water sources like lakes and rivers. Especially in Europe. In my Region where I live for example I live in Germany near the Rhine River, most cities and towns are near that River and its side Rivers. And even mountain towns are near some kind of water source.
This looks great. And think about the mods that might come out for this.
im so jealous that you get to play it early
I’d be jealous too ;) but I’ve been working hard to get you the best possible footage to make it even HARDER to wait! Not long now though :D
Can't wait for the mods.
OMG looks awesome! I wonder how far advanced the cities can get? Also, I hope it allows modding through the workshop.
It feels like RTS is about to make a comeback likeThe Rock :D
I knew you could do it Creative Assembly!
Worth the wait. This is what Bannerlord with City management and micromanagement of RTS looks like.
3 years I'm not really hungry for the game anymore
is there gonna be any knights in the late game , or castles?
looks great
Oh wow this wasn’t even on my radar but I need to get this now lol
Amazing
The only thing i wish there was more of, was a larger map, with tiers of lords and alliance shifting etc.
The perfect AOE 4x with Total War real time tactics, the game we have all been waiting for
Now we just need the cross over with the family management from CK3
How much would it be pegged at ?
Do your levies fly your own banner?
A very small correction at 3:35, kindcome come deliverence was built with cryengine, not unreal engine. good video nevertheless :)
It looks like a birds eye view of Kingdom come! Lets hope next week's announcement from warhorse is kcd2 😁
Whats most impressive about this game is, that it is mainly developed by just one single guy... it looks better than what most AA Studios create recently.
Love another historical set thing. But for whatever reason I looked at this and was like "I wanna see this but in middle earth"
Like building a settlement while dealing with hostile men, potentially helpful elves and marauding orcs.
3:35 Just as a remark - KCD uses not UE but CryEngine :)
We need the smashup of kingdom come deliverence, manor lords and silica. WE NEEED IT!
hope they do a coop mode
All the TW content creators jumping on Manor Lords. Love that
Wish they made a nomadic version lol it'll be dope
citybuilder+rts nice
If the Dev adds Politics/Government System where you can assign valiant/intellectual villager to a certain position; have a General (commander) in a unit possibly 3 Generals in one Army unit; have the main Lord takes the Lead of the battle (the Lord himself is one the General in a unit); have your Lord a Family System where you can select a villager as your wife and have kids; have an Heir System just in case your Character dies in the battle where your son or daughter or wife takes over the throne; The Character(lord) must have a title or rankings based on achievements; AND LASTLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT THIS GAME SHOULD HAVE IS THE ABILITY TO CHANGE ALL VILLAGERS NAME FOR BETTER IMMERSION OF THE GAME. then this will be great alternative for TW3K
You can already change villager names.
Is there a Multi player aspect to this?
Dev: i put thousands of hours, developing and researching medieval times
Me: so when Rome mod come out?
...
Dev: *FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF*
I still find it amusing that this game had gameplay of GUYS WITH SHEILDS WALKING BACKWARDS, then TW Pharoh adds "stances" which allow troops to do the exact same thing.
But yeah, this looks like its gonna be a grate Medieval game. Edit: iv said it before and ill say it again, TOTAL WAR NEEDS TO ADD MANPOWER as mechanic, READD the Population system from Rome 1 if need be.
"If you didn't know already, there are twelve months in a year." -Andy
0:44 A bit lazy on the night sky, big dipper appears twice. Three times if you remove the tree just right of centre.
I noticed those peasants fighting at 09:55 were alive WAY too much longer.... :D You guys have same feeling ?
Is it demanding hardware wise ? Or is steam recommended legit ? Bc the specs were not high
Are you able to make castles in this game
Banished + Total War what's not to love?
coming straight out of serfdom with this one
Any news on multiplayer?
I do not see a castle nor walls. Is it normal? Cause in 1200/1300 AD we had quite a lot of castles and fortified cities.
It's worth noting your starting a new settlement, castles were stupidly expensive and laborious to build. A fortified manor may be all a smaller lord could afford to build and maintain
Total war execs: He made this in a cave…. Out of scraps!!!
What’s the song at the end?
Very normal song !
I'm still debating whether I should buy it in April. More yes than no. I'm particularly curious about the sales figures 🤔 If they are more than just good and the game will receive good reviews, it would be another disgrace for Creative Assemble (Total War)!
What about the soundtracks ingame, is there any information about quality?
makes total war and there teams of hundreds and dlc milking look sooooo bad should be embarrassed
Total War killer? It’s one dude. Imagine what a full studio could do
