I truly cannot believe it; Manor Lords IS HERE, and I have spent waayy too much time in the past weeks playing this game, so I could bring you the ultimate, in-depth and honest review of Manor Lords I possibly could. Having awaited this game since at least 2021, the hype has truly been real, but even bigger are the possible pitfalls a game like this might encounter if it doesn't live up to the hype. In this video, I go through everything that makes Manor Lords tick, while also considering that this is an early access game, and talk about everything awesome, its current flaws, potential shortcomings and what I wish to see in the future. I even give you an overview over how the game works, so in many ways, this is a Manor Lords tutorial, walkthrough, and review in one.
Seeing as Manor Lords has been compared to Total War a lot, I hope this video helps to clear up what this game actually is, how it plays, and what you can expect from it. Do also keep in mind that I have been playing a pre-release version, and some of the bugs or shortcomings I've talked about in this video, might be patched for release, or might currently be worked on.

Oh darn, AAA companies will have to go back to releasing fully built games and not these half-back products that they know upon release they’ll be releasing $100 or more in some cases of DLC that IS NOT a complete game that is a money grab with an incomplete game release, this has been getting progressively worse since the 2000s in the industry, I am so happy that Indie Devs are finally getting the love, attention, and financial support they deserve!

I still don't understand how Helldivers 2 keeps be defined as an indie game. It is Arrowhead, not a small developing team in the basement of their parents' house. As if "indie game" was per se a compliment, Helldivers 2 is a damn good AA game and there's nothing wrong about it

The dev just put out a cry for help post telling people what the game is not: a competitor for total war, or crusader kings, or mount and blade..... Clearly he is concerned about the game getting nuked by negative reviews when people get it and see the hype and "influencers" have made people think it is some revolutionary dream game, which it is not.
Exactly. Because channel's like this keep banging on about it being a total war killer which is clearly isn't. The combat looks fun and has some cool ideas but the idea that the battles would be better than Total War (for all its flaws) is stupid

Most CZcamsrs will jump on the hype wagon for those clics. They don't really care about the impact their content have on the game, they only care about the impact it has on their channel. So they will use clicbait titles which increase the hype overall. out of the 4 Millions buyers, prolly 3.5M will be disapointed. On the other hand, koodo to Greg for making Millions of dollars out of this. Hopefully will use that money to make it up fpr the 3.5M, which would also please the other 0.5M, if you get my point.
Well, I don't see it as anyone's fault other than the person who's in charge of marketing this game. The guy should have done his research and not handed out keys to every content creator that he saw recommended on his CZcams feed. I mean for God's sake even Ludi uploaded a beginner's guide for the game last week. These guys are content creators, they'll say whatever gets views on their channel.

Mods are not confirmed, and with a console version confirmed I doubt there will be much modding support in the first years
@@HansWurst1569 After full release modding will be supported. It won’t stop modders though. There will be mods out in a few months. Look at Bannerlord 2, mods came out like crazy the first few months.

Growing up while playing Stronghold Crusaders and now Total War titles, this game is a dream come true! Cannot wait to play it
I don’t think we’ve ever had a better Castle sim than Stronghold, Stronghold Crusader and Stronghold 2.
This is the closest we are gonna get to those classics.
Other than it doesn't have battles like Total War and it doesn't have castle building like Stronghold. It's a good game, but it's closer to Banished or Sim City than it is to Stronghold and especially Total War.
This is so much better than what Creative Assembly is doing these days!!

To be fair for CA the new warhammer 3 DLC is actually looks pretty good, they even brought back free/FLC legendary lord. They also reworked nurgle, dwarf, and empire factions. But I get what you meant it's already a bit too late and their historical titles are still crap nowadays and they no longer innovate like they used to, its just repackaging of old game mechanics with just better graphics, with a few changes (which some of the chanegs are stupid too) and with less content. Cause the unit variety is very lackluster in the new historical titles due to the choice of time period (I'm looking at you Troy and Pharaoh) where the technology of the period is very limiting on the unit rosters. The terrain map change is good and all but doesn't matter if it cannot be utilized for height advantages like it used to. Now I'm just complaining lol, let's stop here before I start yapping more about CA's historical title lmao.

The game not doing a bunch of AAA shit is to it's BENEFIT not it's detriment, and I 1000% agree that we need more games that avoid streamlining and sanding off gameplay concepts, so sick of games dumbing themselves down.
I know a lot of people care about the battles (and I hope they make more games with this quality’s for battles, maybe 1700s stuff yknow)
But I absolutely love how the city building is, with the size for the houses up to you and idk it tickles the brain
The one thing I can see the dev doing is increasig the map size so much so it turns into a ck3 light, total war type. Itll require a lot more people, at least 50+ but he will get the money to do that

This is like Stronghold only realized with better tech, very cool. Do hope to see castles, walls, towers, keeps, and even citadels protecting cities.
cavalry needs to be seriously op in this game. Meaning that only seriously upgraded spearmen can even stop a cavalry charge without being run over and trampled. And maybe you need to research bodkin arrow tips or something for armor piercing arrows that stand a chance against plate armor. And maybe bowmen can be upgraded with the ability to place sharpened wood stakes in front of them as protection against cavalry, as in Age of Empires 4. That would be awesome!
I hope they implement cavalry like it is depicted and used in Battle for Middle Earth.
And I hope we get siege weapons once we get stronger fortifications.
Does it really though? By the 1400 (which is the time of the game I think) even the French Men at Arms preffered to fight on foot as horse armour was often not devoloped enough (yet) to give real protection against missiles and the use of infantry also had started to become more widespread again.

Lords of the Manor weren't exactly fielding cavalry units. Very expensive.
If the village had any horses, they were plough horses, not war horses.

Absolutely deserves it
Much like the building in this game, this is a PRIME foundation to grow and expand. I can see larger diplomacy, donate troops and resources to the Kings campaigns for influence and rewards, new cultures, new goods and resources, and even new theaters in the (probably distant) future.
As for decoration of buildings and making them different, not only banners but also wall painting would be nice.
If its open to modding, ı cant imagine the possibilities.
Any notes whether walls and other kinds of defence will be added to the future?
I would love the endgame to be able to afford and design a stone city wall and a stone keep, integrated wallsystems and use it to defend my town against a larger invasion force.

Well... it started with 7 regions and ''small '' scale battles ( 1000 vs 1000 ) max. Know imagine that the map ( or the regions ) are the '' size '' of europe ( with the possibility of developing small cities , castles, etc ) and the battles go to 10 times or maybe 50 times more soldiers... fell sorry for the Total War team.. this game looks impressive.

Excellent for early access with great foundations re the real time combat and town management. The game definitely needs more maps, AI opponents on the map and cavalry. The real time battles are good and remind me of RTW and MTW2 even down to chasing that one last unit around the battlefield. Well worth the price of entry in my opinion. As to people criticising You Tubers for hyping the game that comes with the territory, people should do there own research.
Man this game looks amazing! I can't wait to recreate the look and feel of the towns you explore in the Witcher 3.
Does performance drop off late game when you have like 200 pop?
In my experience performance stay consistently high!
Other you tubers have said at 2,000 pop it will start to have issues. Just remember it is early access so that might improve or get worse.
They also said that 2,000 pop is late game for this one.

I really hope it isnt review bombed by people being ked astray by youtubers saying this will be a total war, paradox, banner lord, etc killer. Those game styles are all very noticeably different.

I think if people want a good handle on what manner lords will be, they should look at the game dawn of man but imagine it in a medieval setting rather than a prehistoric one.

Might want to work on your delivery a bit better if you want to become better received in the world of CZcams since it’s just a bit competitive. Perhaps my delivery wasn’t the best either. Take as constructive criticism for your next one. You also didn’t tell me how old you are. I’m guessing about 16-18. But it is just a guess. I said it. You like it, watch it. This was for the CZcamsr. I know, for a fact, there are tons of videos out there on that game and most people won't click on a 45 mins review. If my comment helps him in any way, whether by having more exposure (comments count) or him realizing that he could get way more total views and watch time with 2x videos of 20 minutes, then it's a win for everyone.
