You got better production quality in this video than some tv shows and movies have 😂
Thanks! I now have a talented team :)
Yeah but Matt is a pro tho. The best presenter Top Gear never had.
From the drone footage, b roll, following shots you got it all going on. Very nicely done indeed young man!
@@evanleebodies Could I nominate Mr Johnny Smyth, formally of 5th Gear and now of The Late Brake Show also as the best presenter top gear never had. Apparently he just lost out to Rory Reid…….
Yes I was going to comment on the videography
Here we got Mat, you're on your way to being the next Harry Metcalfe. You'll be giving us previews of Silverstone Auctions soon enough!
This was so well done. I think this could be your new career. Wonderful put together and filmed well done man. So enjoyable 👍👍
Thanks! Much appreciated
Nice work Matt , if this video was 2 hours long I would have watched every second of it .
Are you enjoying wathing ads as well?😂
@@urugvajchernamazyj6240 Dont watch if your not happy🤷♂️
I watched it on 0.25x speed.
@@urugvajchernamazyj6240 wathing closely indeed .
@@antoniopalmero4063 wut?
Normally watch on my phone but switched to my TV just to embrace the fantastic visuals 👍🏾 Two things. More videos like this and definitely give us a video with an original Mini 👍🏾
Thanks!
Also with an e38 7 series as well!
Yes but we like the original amateur-type videos too 🙂
Loved the old bangers the most. Not a fan of beemers but your blue one was special. 🎉
You really should. They were amazingly crude, but hilarious fun. Although the one in the vid is an absolute pimpmobile, horrible.
I’d genuinely struggle if I went to a classic car auction, I just know I’d buy something and then think “what have I done “ afterwards !!
You do tend to get carried away. That’s the problem
"what have I done" you say... behind the wheel of a large automobile.
@@tcaudiobooks737 ...but it’ll go well with your beautiful house.
Thats exactly it!🤣
@@Dreddingbath and beautiful wife, and you may ask yourself, "well, how did I get here?"
You need to do more of these! I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the older cars and of course your geeky knowledge haha
Cheers!
@@HighPeakAutos Pity you don't recognise a Webasto sunroof when you see one.
@@michaelramsay-fraser7076 funny, you say pity but I think it’s actually a blessing 😂 wayyyy before my time
No offence but way before my time too but I know the differences and the fact that one has 4 cylinders and the other 6.
Absolutely loved this production, please keep visiting similar venues. I don’t know what I enjoyed more, the classic MG’s and Triumph’s or your enthusiasm which I can only describe as “ like a kid in a sweet shop”. I could tell you were in your element. A job well done.
Just brilliant. Your taste in cars is almost as eclectic as mine. The star for me is the 500E. I’ve been trawling the web for them since your last video. A W124 Mercedes with Porsche input. I simply can’t think of anything better! 😂
👍 The car featured here is a 1994 onwards facelift W124 E500. The earlier cars (build between 1990-1993 ) were know as 500E and had a bit more BHP at 326 ish. I was lucky enough to own a one German owner from new, 1993 pre facelift 500E and they are fantastic bits of kit. Proper Q cars of the early 90's with exceptional build quality, even by today's standards. 👌 Best of luck with your 500E search 🤞
@@MattCSLnut I had a 1989 300E a few years ago. It was a wonderful car. I would love a 500!
That car is by far my favorite there too.
Since Matt mentioned the BMW750 appearing in The Transporter, for those who don't know Taxi (the French version) features 2 500Es and some excellent driving sequences. Just a superb looking car.
An MGC is pretty much identical to an MGB aside from the 3-litre straight six, 15 inch wheels instead of 14 inch, and the bonnet bulge to accommodate the radiator. Love the classic Mini Cooper JC later in the video as well - my all time dream car.
You would probably have liked my old mgbgt V8. Damask red 1974 year. It had the 3.5 rover engine...only about 140 HP but felt quick enough at the time...and sounded lovely. It was pretty reliable as well and we toured around Scotland in it during holidays.
What else...overdrive on 2,3 and 4th gear.
Lovely car . We got a fair amount of attention from others ...in a good way! Had about 150 k miles on it when I sold it.
Shame everything is getting so expensive these days.
Owners clubs can be good for insurance for young folk btw.
I also had a black V8 mgb roadster...but it wasn't a genuine car. I think I preferred the little red gt.
Mg midgets are great place to start...or at least they used to be...no idea about prices now.
Good luck with your collecting! Cheers
My favourite of your videos, and that’s quite an accolade. I think the viewing figures will show a new summer side angle for you, and hopefully us! An MGC has a straight 6, 3 litre, and is quite a car. I think you might have some form of crimson fever. You walked past 2 red Italian beauties! 😂
Look at you, preppy. Smartened up for the Auction tour. Like this format! To wet our appetites, it would be great to hear about the estimates
What a great video thanks for taking us for a look around ! it was very interesting seeing some lovely old motors!!
Great video as usual. Liked the tweed jacket as well! The S-Type Jag has longer tail and independent rear suspension compared to Mk 2 , it’s more modern but the market still values it less than the Mk2 .
Thanks for bringing us with you, Matt
Great video! 👍
This was a very interesting video and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many cars from my youth (I am 70+ years old now). You pointed to an E-type jaguar 4.2 litre at 18.00 minutes with the "vinyl top". For your information this is a Webasto sun roof, a very good quality slide and fold -back roof, a perspex fly screen is also part of the mechanical roof which can be pushed up from inside. My wife had one of these in the late 1970's on her 1965 Mini Hooper, also had Dunlop wheels, walnut dash panel and 2" thick blue pile carpets. Yes it had been fitted out by Hooper Coachworks, as a special. This video brought back wonderful memories of fantastic cars. I had a particular fondness for the Mark 2 Lotus Cortina at 17.20mins. I think the original car would have had quarter bumpers, certainly the Mark One did. Thank you for showing this, and best wishes for future vids.
Wow, loved it, some of those cars were really cool…
You’ll have to do a follow up and let us know what some of them went for!!!
Great video Matt. It made you look very youthful, but unfortunately made me feel very old. Fantastic setting,(I love Buxton) and the cars on show were many and varied. Very interesting. Well done, beautiful clear, quality filming. Regards, Derek.
Thanks!
Yes! Do more of these kinds of videos! 👍
Absolutely loved it. Looking forward to another one. Thank you so much.
Brilliantly put together Matt it's only a matter of time before main steam pick you up 👌👍
He'd slot right into a Top gear presenter
@@DSBeats_100 No he wouldn't get a chance on Top Gear. He doesn't have a Bolton accent, he knows too much about cars and he isn't annoying!
@@andrewgraham4838 🤣
The High Peak Drinking Game - Take a shot every time Matt says...
"Its an awful lot of car for the money"
"It wants a good clean"
"Its all the engine you'd need"
You'd be hammered 🤪 and I love it
"every BMW mini I ever bought was loads of trouble"
Another great video, Matt. It's nice seeing you taking a deeper dive into the classics scene.
Loved this hope you have the time to do more in the future ❤
Fantastic to see you growing the channel like this, the production values just keep getting better, You with Smith & Sniff would be a winning combination for sure, I'd love to see you collaborate with Jonny, perhaps on a barn find for extra 'real world' future advice about what could happen to them when they get moved on in the market - you'd certainly have a lot in common with Richard Porter, given the locale and your snide wit and attitude (not to mention knowledge) it would be a winning combination....I think I've just realised who the next three presenters of that show should be!...I know you don't have that sort of agent but someone should get the three of you in a room together for sure.
Fantastic content!
Loving the production efforts, with what feels like Dennis Collins coffee walk accents 👌
Great tour video. Really enjoyed that!
Brilliantly done! Really enjoying all your content at the moment Mat. Keep it coming. 👏🏻
So interesting, definitely do more auctions/car part swap meets/car club days etc. It’s a nice change from your regular bread and butter videos.😊
Excellent video Matt , I really enjoyed watching , you should go to some more classic car auctions and classic car shows ,there really enjoyable and normal very well organised.
Great walk about show, Matt. Yes - more of these please.
Excellent watch Matt. I’m up for more of this type of production. Well done to you and the crew.
Cracking video Matt. The quality of your films are going from strength to strength and this was on par with anything on mainstream TV. As others have said, I'd have watched all of this if it had been two hours long! Love your enthusiasm and we can tell how genuinely passionate you are about cars. I really expected a follow up with you driving the P38 telling us you'd bought it. Keep up the fantastic work Matt.
I had an original (1973) mini in early 1982 ish. It was great to drive because it went like the clappers and you never needed to change down gears going round corners in town.
My older brother had an original mini when he was at Warwick Uni in 1989. It was red, but don't know what year it was. I remember I went to visit him and when in the car thinking....why has he got this pile of junk? It was literally a metal cage on wheels. Overrated crap very much of their time.
Had all my paid for driving lessons in a bright orange 850 mini in 1973/74. Horrible thing to drive with a steering wheel that belonged in a lorry. Between driving lessons my dad took me out for practice in his mk 3 Cortina 2.0 GT. Not a lot of difference between the two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never driven a mini since.
Excellent vid Matt... love to see you bringing an old classic back to its former glory
Love it Mat, great stuff a beautiful balance between the old and the more modern cars, its good to see how far we've come
Matt, @1:10 onwards is amazing. Really sets the scene!
Loved it Matt, the TR6 brought back memories for me , I had a 1970 model which being pre 72 had the 150bhp engine they had to down grade to 125 for the American market. The Facel Vaga also reminded me of my neighbour in London’s South Kensington ! Lionel Bart who had a metallic Blue one. Thanks for bringing these classics back to life. 🙏🙏 27:13
My neighbour has a mint 1973 TR6 that looks exactly like the one here. If I am quiet and pick my moment, I can get past him.
Truly excellent, Matt. Fantastic filming and great viewing!
Loved this video Matt, could have watched you wandering around the auction site for hours. Really nice format :)
love these auctions, what a selection, great video!
Thanks! I enjoyed it
Love this Matt. Please do more if you get a chance.
Also, I think THIS is where the production level and style as in this presentation belongs. Your “look at what I’ve bought…” videos need you POV style.
Best of luck. And that XJRS wow!!
Good point
Great video, great cars, I enjoyed every minute, please more of this awesome stuff.
Fantastic! Well done, loved the informative tour.
Dermot , Kildare Ireland
In 1960 my Dad drove a Ford V8 Pilot - green, brown upholstery. People kept making cash offers for it. It was the same V8 engine as used in army vehicles during the war. Any mechanic could work on them quite easily. A comfortable but heavy car. Maximum speed 80mph.
Really wanted you to check tyre brands and if all corners matched 😂
😂 there wasn’t the time
Thanks Matt, nicely paced video. A pleasure to watch.
I went to the H and H auction in Buxton last year, but the prices were crazy. Like all auctions including Mathewsons the cars nine times out of ten go for loads more than the estimate and then there is the commission on top.
I was going to go to the auction today but now i do not need to after seeing all the cars in the vid. The only cars i would be interested in are the Mini, TR6 and Capri. I had an MGB, TR6 and Rover Mini years ago when they were new. Yes i am old and do not need reminding of it lol.
The old cars had charm and bring back great memories of when i owned them, but modern cars are so advanced and mostly reliable. Better safety and extras like cruise control, air con, heated seats and much better MPG.
Enjoyed that and hats off to you for showing and talking about cars you did not have much knowledge of. They are fascinating cars to someone born in the 80’s like me.
The E38 looks like a lovely car. I imported one from japan last year with only 13k miles on the clock and one previous owner. Good luck if you go for one. I’d only swap mine for a SL55 with low mileage to go with a couple of other M113K engined cars I have already.
Very nice! I will own one one day
Really enjoyed that Matt. Surprised at the low(ish) the prices. I have driven the original mini - they're shoite.
Original mini not great? You literally grin from the minute you release the handbrake until you come to a stop. Of course it's not a Rolls Royce, it's a go-cart for the road.
@@matthewgee8122 Fair comment - my remarks were a bit unfair.
Love this video. It's nice to see something different. You have a great presenting style and a genuine interest in the cars. I think you should do more of these
Wow! What a feast of lovely old cars... Thanks for the ride, Matt!
Great Video Matt. I cant believe how inexpensive some of the cars were.
I darn’t go to a car auction as I would have been biding on 3 or 4 of the ones you highlighted.
My concern is what happens to them when we have gone net Zero? Museum pieces?
Absolutely love the E500. I had an E320 in a forest green color with a caramel brown interior. One of my favorite cars ever. Really enjoyed the vid. Nice to mix the type of vids up every once in awhile.
Great vid
Thanks✌🏼🏴
More of These please Mat, welcome to the addictive world of wonderfull old cars, the perfect way to deplete your resourses and start enjoing motoring again!
felt like I was watching one of Harry's Garage Silverstone auctions. big fan of those, so obviously enjoyed this. ✊
what's next for Matt? next video probably see him popping up with David Hasselhoff at Gumball 3000. 😄
Haha well see 😂
Imagine a high peak autos auction. One day right?
Yes that would be interesting - I think there are already "lottery" style sales going on but an auction would be a winner
A breath of fresh air - Thanks, great video. For us humble soles stuck in Singapore this was definitely a call to come home!
Nicely done Matt thanks
Very nice video. I still have a P38 that I bought new in 2001. Still running well, although some of the plastic trim parts are breaking down and I can't find replacements.
Oh wow. Which model?
Well dressed! 🍸
I try :)
A beautiful switch of gears to the show. Loving the drone shots. Wonderful work!
Love the format Mat. Another BIG 👍🏻s up.
That was a different video and a pleasure to watch. We genuinely could see you one day standing next to Chris Harris saying “in this week’s Top Gear…” 👍
Snappy dresser -the Nigel Havers of High Peak
Haha cheers
Impressed with the video, great job!
Really enjoyable. Great knowledge too.
Does this make you want to expand and start dealing with classic stock?
That honestly never crossed my mind. All I was thinking about was building some sort of Jay Leno inspired garage and building a private collection
Great video, really shows off your knowledge and I never say no to seeing some gorgeous (read: very tempting) cars! The camerawork and drone shots at the start really show off the extra production value! Love your passion, and same goes for all your videos, keep them coming and keep it up Matt!
Great that - really interesting and well made as usual. Thanks !
Great video Matt. Enjoying your content. Only been watching for the last two weeks.
Matt, a great presentation and very informative especially to me living on the other side of the planet. More of these would be much appreciated and add a new dimension to your channel.
Great video, very much enjoyed that. Keep up the great work. Cheers
Really enjoyed this. Nicely edited/filmed... Well done bud 👍🏻
I enjoyed that Matt , thank you for posting 😊
Loved every single minute of this video Matt. Thank you for the content. Regards
Great video Matt. You can genuinely tell you had fun going around there 😂 like a kid in a sweet shop
Great video, very watchable. Hope you do more in the future!
Thank you Matt that was awesome so many memories
I enjoyed that... thanks Matt for filming your visit. Would definitely like to see more auctions, and it looked like you really enjoyed it as well. Great camera work 👍
Nice to see different types of video than just the standard format. Keep it up 👍
Thanks!...I really love these types of videos.
😁👍
Wow that was brilliant Matt, thank you so much. I love stuff like that, the quality of some of those cars from the past, is outstanding.
I really enjoyed the tour, so many classic cars reunited. Thank you Matt

Love the no nonsense approach...keep em coming ❤
These are really interesting Matt, thankyou. I love going to old auctions, there are so many interesting cars to see. If you can do some more it would be much appreciated.

Brilliant, really enjoyed this….. agree completely, the Corvette was superb 👍
What a beautiful setting for an auction and a great day out. Tell me there was tea and scones ! Really liked this walk round pace Just enough info and footage on each car without waffling on Great Thanks
