- Welcome back all,
In this video we head back up to visit Hampson auctions for their first classic car sale of 2024! This was hosted at their new location, Bolesworth castle and what a location this was. Very scenic and a great backdrop to host an auction. We took a look around many of the vehicles outside the marque and also inside, as the more high costing vehicles were kept inside!
My picks of the auction included the Mk2 Ford Escort RS2000, Mini 1275 GT and both of the Renault Clio 182's as I have such a soft spot for them. Please do let me know what your pick of the auction was! Also as I mentioned in the outro of this video, I will be attending Hampson auctions for the full weekend next time as I want to record plenty more vehicles to make a longer video.

this channel is perfect see the car then see what it sells for brilliant way to do it thanks .5 people sat their thats a good auction house .you need to go to buxton classic car Auctions 500 lots every month .
There was more people at the back of the room.
I agree, great format, show the car then move on to the bidding
Thank you, I’m glad you liked the video! There was plenty of people behind me bidding & online. I was just sat at the front 🤣 I will check out the auction 👍🏻
mike brewer bought my brown escort mk1 edd china sprayed it yellow its on wheeler dealers mk1 escort .
Should of kept it rallying round the farm 💯.
@@eddiek821 did you see it
Great video mate thanks 👍🏽😎
Glad you enjoyed 😎
The autioneer I think was pretty weak going up by 100 or 200 while being miles away from estimate. Other times too fast to close the bids
Was a hard crowd at times!
Good stuff, thanks for posting.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed 👍🏻
@@Mk2Mitchwhy are the fees so ridiculously high ?
Some fantastic cars....
Great video, thanks
That 87,205gti is absolutely fantastic.
Thanks mitch your time and effort at thease events you always take your time and fill us in with your 2nd to none knowledge
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy the videos 😎
I bought an XR3i from Brooklyn's at Malvern! My first quick car, well, quick for the day.
Very interesting cheers got glued watching it.
Glad you enjoyed! Plenty more to come 😎
Cheers mate thank you for sharing, spot on

Looks a cracking place, love the Mk1 Escort, Mk2 Escort and Capri. Might have to get myself down sometime!

Love this channel. Great job as always.
Thank you! I’m glad your enjoying the videos 😎
One of the best auctions you've done quality wise. So many nice motors. In particular ,that mk2 transit ,and my personal favourite ,that final stunning restored mini gt.That was mouth wateringly beautiful! Thanks Mitch for another quality vid!! 🙌
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the vehicles in this video 😎
Your auction video's are top notch 👍
Thank you!
Great video as always!. Great to see all the old classics. Thanks bro
Your welcome, thank you for watching 😁
Good to see you clear up the issue at the end. I had myself wondered why some had such high fees, but thought perhaps it was to do with...well exactly what you said.
I absolutely love these videos ❤
Glad you like the videos! Yes it’s worth watching to the end as there was a lot of comments about the fees 👍🏻
Great vid Mitch, thank you

Thank you! 😁
Another cracking video 👊🐝
Cheers Mark!
Excellent video, so I've subscribed.
Thank you for subscribing! Plenty more of these videos to come 😁
I couldn’t agree more about the engine bay 🏴👍🏻
Great video Mitch been to a few auctions now this year and the difference between estimated and selling and provisional are vast was at the NEC last weekend and it was like pulling teeth
The market is just not there at this moment People are not spending due to the current climate just my opinion
Keep up the good work
Cheers mate, I’ve been to a few of them auctions but they take forever on each lots. I found it far too boring to attend another 🤣
Another nice video dude - keep at it 🙂👍
Thank you! 👌🏻
Hi Mitch, great video again, and thanks again with the amout of miles you and Lauren are covering for us all. The mini 1275 GT I believe was a 1.4 engine and when in the metro it was rapid. I saw it was fitted withe the black and silver number plates again I believe that under the road traffic act of 1972 (unless now changed) the number plates went over to the white and yellow. I can remember in the day I put black and silver on my car and because of its age I got nicked for it 😂 I'll have alook and check my facts but if changed now you have a little more of the history books at your disposal thanks again
All number plates were originally black with white, grey or silver characters, until retroreflective plates were specified in British Standard BS AU 145 in 1967. These were white on the front and yellow on the rear of the vehicle, with black characters. White/yellow retro-reflective plates became a legal requirement for most newly-registered vehicles on 1 January 1973.
The Capri 1.3L is lovely. I had one as my second car back in 1989
Was a great example and hadn’t been tarted up or modified 👍🏻
I had a Capri LS 1.6 in that Champagne metallic! It was the best car I’ve ever owned!
Very nice! This one went rather cheap 😎
The bronze Mini has Dunlop Denovo wheel trims. Very interesting.
Loved to own that 205 GTI! I should’ve never sold mine back in the 90’s, would’ve been worth a lot of money now.
Same I had a 1.9 gti in sorrento green. A series 1 escort rs turbo a series 2 escort rs turbo a fiesta xr2i and a Mk1 3 door nova. I would of been able to retire now 😅.
With you on the engine bay has to be same as body colour. Liked the large space of the auction. loads of room to look at the cars
Some great cars there, heaven for all of us who love classic cars in great nick, great website thanks
Glad you enjoyed 😁
Those Ford capris used to sell for a lot more few years ago, bargain. Great video 📹 👍.
That was a real cheap one! 😎
Alright mate, good selection there! The white Mk2 RS looked a nice thing, 6R4 rep was cool! Did you get to WB last week? Some nice things in there but I didn't have time to go! 👍
There were some nice cars there! Unfortunately I missed WB & Sons this time as I came to this auction instead 👍🏻
Great vids but in at least one anglia auction , there was at least one older jag, a Japanese coupe and a very old vintage car in the background that werent looked at due to the interest in a fiesta
That 6R4 was a steal, matey will double his money within 6 months.
Nice Kadett. I don’t think they came with a load cover. Also a shame the rear wiper was incomplete; just like @HubNut I do love a pantograph wiper!
Fees were outrageous. Great work mitch
Thank you! Did you watch until the end where I explain the provisional bids? Worth giving it a watch if you haven’t, I explain the differences 👍🏻
I like the basic 1.6L Capri.
Great video 👍 cool channel just subscribed ❤️👍
Thank you for subscribing! 👍🏻
Mate, interesting on the pug.white ones dont fetch as much as the red.higher mileage than my one.nice vid fella.
Just the way it goes sometimes! Auctions are unpredictable 😎
Doesn’t the 4 in the 6R4 designation mean that it’s 4WD, niiiiiiiiiiice video 😮😊
Yeah should be 4wd and wrong engine it should be a 3L v6 but apart from that it looked the nuts.
It could possibly have been! I’m not sure though as never seen one before 😅
MG Metro Turbo 1275cc 90bhp at 6100rpm & torque 84 lbft at 3650 rpm on a good day! The slowest Turbo car i ever owned.Lol Your right about the Escort engine bay.
Not the most amazing engine swap then! I’m sure it would make an improvement over the standard engine? 👍🏻
I got a mk2 escort panel van haven't done her up yet but their nice cars
I love a van! 😎
Great video…..could have picked the coke can up under the seat at the auction house
lol 😂 …..✌️
I thought that too lol ….he manoeuvred it far enough under the seat so he consciously couldn’t see it. Pick it up and bin it you old scrout. If he remembers classic cars he will remember “keep Britain tidy” slogans.
Cheers mate! I’m sure it found it’s way to the bin eventually 🤣👍🏻
Mini is on its money but probably more than its worth but if its a solid shell it was worth a pop
Any idea what the COX GTM sold for???
All auction results can be found on Hampson Auctions website 👍🏻
Nice one Mitch looked liked a great day out mate . I loved that mk2 tranny I’d have bought that for that money if it wasn’t a lefty I have a bit of an old van fetish I’m afraid lol
Nothing wrong with a van fetish! 🤣
1275 is bang on looked the bollocks, not sure about the colour, would have been cheap wounder what he wanted
Dam I so wish I still had my MK 1 Ford Escort
I had one in the early 1990s when you could still buy them for next to nothing..
It’s crazy what they are worth now!
That mini was a bargain
I thought so! 👍🏻
Mk1
Who owns a red Clio Trophy all these years and only puts 106,000 miles on it! She was lovely
Was a great example!
The days of asking crazy prices seem to be at an end.
Possibly, you never know at an auction!
Why are the fees so high?
Did you watch until the end? I explain all 👍🏻 Remember provisional prices are not the final price.
those fees bump the price up.
Reliant Kitten was the bargain buy for me. I've been saying for some time now the tide has changed on mini prices.
Kitten was great to see! 👍🏻
The young Jedi does it again The capri and the metro where my vote BUT what will be the classics in the future......... Tesla?
Teslas won’t last longer than 20 years 🤣
Fees are a bit rich
Thanks again man
They’re not much different to most other places, did you watch the outro explaining the differences with the fees and provisional prices?
@@Mk2Mitch Did Yeh 👍
Can anybody visit the auction? My kid loves classic cars. Thanks.
Those fees seem crazily high.
Did you watch until the end of the video? Might be worth it as I explain the provisional bids 👍🏻
So many years back a blue mark 1 exactly like that was stolen. I can’t find the post. It was on here and on Facebook. Sure it was stolen from a dealer. That 1 looks the same. It could be or may not be. Pitty we coudnt see the numbers. N
I highly doubt this is a stolen vehicle 👍🏻
Kitten okay if I bought it I would take out the 850 and stick an MG full race engine with close ratio box seen it in years gone bye and they went like stink
You should of shown the bmw 2002
Apologies I had limited time at this auction, if I see another bmw 2002 I will record it 👍🏻
Seeing where this auction is reminded me of a story, a true one. Just down the road from here is Oulton Park race circuit. This is the story of how one of the bends on the course got its name.
czcams.com/video/ejHT9olA_Uo/video.html
I should say that this is probably for mature audiences.
Wait wait wait!! Clio sold for 6200!? But with auction fees 10kkk!?
Please, I urge you to watch the end of this video! I explain the provisional prices and the fact this is not the end sale price 👍🏻
@@Mk2Mitch I watched it haha my bad!
@@Mk2Mitch also great work mate nice lay out
They were factory spec works car engine bay and interior where painted black
I see! Shame this wasn’t a works car 👍🏻
Only car for me is mk 1
THERES ONLY ABOUT 5 PEOPLE BIDDING
It is very easy to quickly judge one camera angle. The auction room was huge and most were behind me bidding, I was sat right at the front. Also hundreds of registered online bidding too 👍🏻
What kind of fees are they charging here,
£6000 for the mini and £3000 fees?
No wonder there was nobody there!!
Please, I urge you to watch the outro of this video. Provisional bids are not the final sale price!
Transit Shouldham been left original it would have been worth much more I bet the guy who bought it turns it back to original
Didnt look like much of a turnout which is a shame, the 1st GT was a steal and fhe 2 Clioos, whats with those fees?? There were really steep
Was busy behind me, I sat right at the front! Please watch the end part of this video I explain provisional bids. They are not the final sale prices 👍🏻
MK2 RS 2000 was cheap need to seen it but all being correct should have been worth well inexcess of 30k, do think it could have been advertised correctly
Remember it was a SA import and these seem to fetch less than the UK escorts 👍🏻
40K for the 6R4 replica doesn't even cover the cost of the fabrication work.
And at least 25% of the price is fees plus taxes plus currency devaluation (inflation).
It was a mental build! Remember the price was provisional, this is not the final price. If you watch until the end of the video I explain about the provisional bids and how they come to a price that both buyer and seller are happy with 👍🏻
40K for the 6R4 replica.
Doesn't even cover the cost of the fabrication work.
those tranny seats are plastic, + the wheels are off a mk1
the 6R4 copy will probably drive better than an original one, they were animals [been in one, you had to wear earplugs because the gearbox/drivetrain was so noisy, brutally fast]
1275 gt's were good to work on, an extra 3inches at the front to do the points/condenser
keep it up young man
6R4 was well priced again not one thing or the other so worth nothing
As soon as you say “ replica”…… I’m turning off….oh, there we go.
Still enough time to write a comment though 😉

Well, yes . Thought you might appreciate the feedback.
