In this video I head back up to Letchworth Motor Auctions (LMA) for their first Classic, Retro & Performance sale of the year. This auction was the biggest it's kind that LMA has hosted and there was a wide range of different makes and models, from Fiats to Aston Martin's.
I naturally gravitated towards the Fords but I did look around some other vehicles, including a Toyota Mr2 which has been mentioned to view in the comments before. Some of the prices were surprising me as the Lots wen under the hammer and I feel people really did get a few bargains at this auction!

Great vid as always, thanks for taking the time to include the bidding footage. Both Cortina and Sierra based P100s were available in the UK.

Quality vid BTW. I'm sure the P100 had a Capri 2.8 V6 lumped in it by someone back in the day.
P100 pickup was available in uk, started mk5 cortina shape, before turning to sierra shape
fun fact, my wife used to hire p100s for her company. she hired a brand new one, 20 miles on the clock, it lasted 4hrs, the driver drove it off an unfinished motorway bridge, it fell 30 feet onto a pile of gravel + snapped in half... then she had to phone up for another one...

Yes you are absolutely correct, the Capri is exempt in a few years, my apologies for previous comment, I wasn't paying full attention,....too focused on looking at that great shape.
When I was serving my time at the Ford dealer we sold loads of these pick ups and we run one as a workshop vehicle,

Engine choices were originally the Sierra's 2.0 litre "Pinto" carburetted petrol engine, with a 1.8 L turbo-diesel following soon thereafter. The range was now built in Portugal for the European market, to a design set out by Ford UK. It proved a strong seller, particularly on the UK market.
Had a 72 and 77 Capri Ghia, I think they were 2.8 liters if I remember right, fun and fast cars and loved the window wiper bulb you pushed on the floor to clear the windscreen.
I had the same mondeo but it was a ghia edition it had the classic plastic walnut dash but I loved it ,great review keep up the great work 👊👍🐝
That Mondeo was definitely the play of the day. Almost too good to daily drive, but if you were to use it, it's a lot of car for not much money.

That's a "quick shift" gearstick in the camper, reduces the throw by about 25%.
The button is simply to engage reverse.

Certainly can, I know a bloke who can get 200+ bhp out of a pinto 👌🏻 Only way to confirm would be to check the dyno print out 👍🏻

NON UK SPEC , MR2 The G-Limited was a trim level of the SW20, it was the higher-specification naturally aspirated model. It came with electric folding mirrors, steering fog lamps, and a rear spoiler.

There was plenty of p100s around back in the 80s and they was ones with a courtina front pick ups as well loved the Capri but couldn't afford it but the puma is a good buy as the 1.7 engine are rare as its very true like you said 👍

I'm starting to see alot of cars going to auction that have been up for sale for a long time at silly prices, the escort convertible is one of those examples.
Yes many go to auction after sitting online for a while! Where was the escort advertised?

Was much fetching good prices. What I mean is was it good for sellers or good for buyers ? Cheers. I might put my 205 in June.
I’d say it depends on the vehicle mate! If you give them a email they will come back with a good evaluation 👍🏻

That capri with the tuned engine sparked my interest, back in the day the v6 was the daddy but it was a pig to drive cornering confused them, but take the heavy v6 scrap out and fit in a tuned four pot they were passable as a sporty toy, would have bid on that one to win it, enjoyed your vlog nice one, lots of great memories for me seeing all that old iron 👍👏👏👏

Common misconception with these videos, the Capri sold provisional! Meaning the auction would have talked to the vendor and the hugest bidder to negotiate a price. The sold for price is the agreed price plus the fees. Could’ve been £5,500/£5,600 my guess 👍🏻

Yes I did miss them, unfortunately I have limited time at these auctions and it’s very hard to record every vehicle 👍🏻 I will try and find some more at another auction soon!
$6000 spent on the Rolls was probably an oil change and tire rotation 😂

I'd take that Capri over ANY other car anyday. P100 will spend more time going backwards round corners then it will forwards. TOTAL POS.
That mondeo was a cheap car watch it go up in value they are all junk now
we had a p 100 in 1983 when they frst came out in the uk
Sad how cheap these old Rollers go for now. Suppose they're just too crippling to sort out, whilst not being true 'classics' ? Will their day come ?
Keep in mind Rolls_Royce make a lot of this model around 20 thousand plus ➕ though marks 1 - 4. As they did with the Silver Shadow. So they are not exactly rare. They are also very expensive to maintain and keep running on the road !..
