Sorry forgot to mention this auction is live now so you can see how they are all doing online here www.hobbsparker.co.uk/car-auctions/? 👌👍
38:14 : Yep. Sunny 'PULSAR' GTi-R. Great Car Rob. Fastest (Stock) hot hatch going back in its day I would imagine. Quality SR20DET Engine from back when Nissan still made good reliable cars. Before Renault got involved basically. I had a P11 Primera GT with the SR20D engine back in the day. That wasn't Turbo though, Still the 2nd best normally aspirated engine I know of.
The Honda K20 series obviously wins the Number one position in that competition.
I love the way Chris has come out of his shell and we’re seeing his real personality, love his dry humour and of course his extensive knowledge not only of cars but the building work that’s being undertaken around the farm
I remember watching you lads when Chris didn’t even like been on camera not he’s a natural and an absolute pleasure to watch.
Cortina's a Mk5 guys, Mk4 had smaller tail lights, different grille and different bumper end caps but was same shape body. 👍
Pace of your walkabout just right, just love these auction video's
My brother built a Lotus 7 kit for a young chap called Martin Lilly; brother went onto to have a TVR dealership. But had a feeling all was not right with them, Martin approached him about ordering a new one. But Ken put him off as he thought TVRs were going bust. A week later Ken was at TVRs and there was Martin and his dad, they had not bough a car, they bought TVRs.
Kens accountant had a pair of Healey 3000, one for daily use the second he rallied it at weekends.
But going around the action brought back memories of all the cars I drove back in the 60s and 70s. All great fun, so thanks for that. Have lots of stories about cars, films I worked on, and car adds.
Winding the window up on the beetle shows your respect for people's cars Rob. Top man. Tip top.
51 minutes of pure joy - my mum had the Fiesta 1.4S then got the XR2 before I started to learn to drive. Let’s say I got into a lot of bother with the plod once I passed my test, constantly pulled over. Never crashed it though 🙈🙈
That Renault 5 looked lovely that interior looked ahead of its time
Thank you rob and Chris for bringing us along. The knowledge between you 2 guys helps with these visits.
Mk5 cortina! They had curved around the wing front indicator’s and the Mk4 didn’t
My wife bought a 2009 defender five years ago. Its worth £5000 more than she paid for it, and boy does she bang on about it.
I'd be afraid to leave a defender unattended....stolen everyday.
@@phildunne2632 you r on the money there my mate had to of them taken and never seen a gen
Good Morning Rob
Sell it while it's still in one piece !
Sell it and take the extra £5k while you still can. Wont be long before insurance companies either won't touch them or make the quotes ridiculously high to stop you taking a policy out
That Vauxhall Victor has Chris's name on it. Lovely car.
Hello Rob and Chris , great little video. Some cars I remember from the 70’s and 80’s. I have ordered a hat, just in time for winter. May even wear it in the house when I’m watch your videos. 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Enjoy these a lot every time you go round. Thanks guys!🤙
What a cracking trip down memory lane for an hour on a Sunday morning. Spot on 👍
Nice one lads, nearly an hour Rob we're not complaining 👍👍
Love the tours around the car auctions.... that GEM of a Scirroco! So entertaining 👍
Chris needs the Vaxhall Victor in his life, it looks like a nice car. Just for info the rubber bumper MG's can and have been converted to chrome by people who don't like the rubber, I don't like the rubber either. If you are thinking of buying a classic anyone go for it life is too short! The Mini Traveller will be Ash wood and the wood is not structural unlike the Morris Minor Traveller which is. A Morris Minor would be a good classic to buy if your wanting to get into classics. Great video Rob and Chris it was not too long and the pace was just right, thank you. 👍👍
Ha ha that Vauxhall Victor got Chris written all over it, similar to one my dad owned in the late 70s 😊 great video lads love to see the old motors reminds me of me and my dads tinkering days together ❤
Certainly has, very tidy. I had an F and an FC.
Perfect informative walk around. Something for everybody. Don't change. You sound like kids in a sweetshop.
I really enjoy these Classic Auction walk arounds. I was the owner of a TR3A, TR6 and mini van with the starter on the floor and no synchro on 1st! Great memories! Thanks be lads! Hope Chris gets what he is after!
Rob thanks for taking us to the Auction some great cars please keep this on your channel😊.
Really appreciate the longer video guys thanks 🙂😎
Volvo 940 and 240 for me! Had a 1989 240GLT auto estate in 2009 for £350 and kept it for 10 years as my daily driver. Ran perfect and sold in 2018 for £500 at 234,000miles. Now have a 1996 Volvo 940 LPT Auto estate the last 6 years. Paid £250 and runs great at 209,000 miles. Just got AC working and rebuilt the front suspension. My work van.
Absolutely love these walk arounds lads. I could watch for hours. Cheers, Brilliant stuff...
Didn't spill the coffee on someone, s pride and joy ! Phew !
I had a Victor same year same colour. Floor shift version. Like stiring paint. Engine went on fire so it had a bonnet ring for a while. Very comfy. Wheel came off just by Stonehenge. I had the on condition maintenance plan. Thanks for the memories.
Great cars there loved the way Chris kept on going back to the Range Rover! Beautiful cars there and now have a hat bought for the lovely winter that’s on its way
The Cortina is a mark 5. The big rear lights denote it. Only a fairly basic model a no rev counter.
They were very nice when they came out.
Hi Rob and Chris, a good paced look around. Some interesting stuff there this time guy's. Alex
A pleasant walk around cheers chaps
At 5:12 'What bike is that?' - I think it's an NSU Quickly. My mate had one when we were teenagers in the 1960s. I had a Kerry Capitano which was a very similar beast and the one next to the NSU looks vaguely familiar.
I had one in that colour. It was a n A reg I think.
I'd be happy if you spent all day there, especially with Chris imparting all his knowledge. Great video, thank you.
The little aerial that sticks up on the front near side bumper is called a “Fender Pole” on the JDM cars, I have one on my 2004 Toyota Celsior. The top also lights up blue when the lights are on. Very helpful to judge the edge of the car when pulling out of a tight space.
Great to see an auction video every now and again and see some classics. Keep up the great work chaps and thanks for the fantastic content.
I love the 80's cars. When showing if you could point out areas to look for rust/problems. Keep the videos coming. Ace
Plenty of memories looking at all those classics. Great video.
That sent shivers down my spine..... My dad had a red Mk5 Cortina same time I had a light blue Mk 1 Cavalier. To see a pair of them parked behind each other brought back some memories.
Awesome that the guy working at the auction went and got you guys a coffee, that’s the kind of service that keep customers coming back. That little red Mini was so nice I’d like one someday. Great video as always have a good one.
Just a quick post before I get into watching the rest of the vid... But remember when Chris never spoke & now he's selling bobble hats 😂
The scruffy little bike Rob is a Mobylette 50cc 1961.....I was made in 1950 and my old mum had one when I was eleven mate.
Chris just mentioned about the mini floor start button. I had one a 1963 mini with one DMM510A. First A from Hertfordshire. It was transformed from 850cc to a 1100cc, removed the front end and added a fibreglass clubman. Never changed the diff, so it had major acceleration and with so much torque wheel spin and broke the engine steady bar.
I think we are all going to be posting our 1st car reg.
That's a great trip out, dahn the auctions, bacon sarnie and a brew. Liked the longer video 👍
Very interesting lads thanks for sharing the day with you
Love these, it brings back loads of memories seeing the older cards!👍👍👍
As ALWAYS brilliant content, your combined knowledge is awesome, gotta love Chris noticing the suspension on the Lotus replica!
Absolutely loved this video guys, somthing different yet again to surprise us, well done.
What a great walkabout, thanks guys 😊😊😊😊
My old Dad had a Vauxhall Victor 101 D reg a long time ago. We used to drive up to my Nan's place in Haverfordwest every summer back in the 60s with all 9 of us in it. That car really brought back a lot of memories. Rego number was JAN 172D remember it like it was yesterday 🤗
Really enjoy the variety of your videos guy's, never a dull moment, keep it going! 👍👌
Great video guys, the cortina is a Mk5 due to the front indicators sweeping around the side of the car. Plus the Reg plate X. Had a 1.6 Ghia X back in the day. Keep up the good work.
And the larger rear light cluster 😉
Superb video lads love the classics, a few of them i use to own, really takes ne back in time
Love these when you look round these classic auctions
About 1963 the FB Victor had a facelift whereby the front indicators were made round and moved to the edge of the wings and the square rear number plate was introduced. Our first car was a 1962 FB Super with a four-speed floor mounted gear change: the car was designed by Gerald Palmer after his departure from BMC. You can see hints of the rounded Wolseley 6/90 rear end in the FB.
It's a Mark 5 Cortina, Chris. My old man had a 2.0 GL (ERP 325X) in midnight blue with an auto box that was lovely. Went up in flames after a bad service at a main dealership. Bumpers, grilles, mirrors, side trim and rear lights are the giveaways.
My mate's Mum had one of those pram top Golf GLs with an auto box. Nice little motor.
Hi Rob and Chris. The push button on the Mini was for high beam for the headlights. Quirky little feature. My first car was a 1966 Austin Mini. Wish I still had it!
There was a push button start on the floor by the handbrake. What you are talking about was the main beam dip switch. Foot operated to the left of the clutch.
Thanks Rob and chris, really enjoyed that walk around! Now just need the shed and lift, lol. Take care :)
Really love your views on these old cars and all your videos in the workshop. I am now back in Norwich with a 2003 Rover 45 1.8 IXS as a second owner. Had it now for 14 years. Now on its second head gasket, but runs extremely well.
You need to drive it like you stole it - K series engine? - the lotus has the same engine but never had an issue - all to do with dead zones in the cylinder.
Wolesley 1500....Guide 3 to 4 grand, I had one of those in 1972 I paid a fiver for it and sold it for 15 quid. And the old Austin Somerset, my big brother had the Devon, he let me use it as he hadn't passed his test and I had, I hit a mini with it while reversing as the rear window was tiny and the mini I hit had a black roof, lol and I ran into the picture house with it, square on into the brick wall and it never marked it, them massive bumper overriders were a blessing ......I never had to tell him. lol ..50 odd years later and I still ain't told him....Saludos desde España mi amigos.....Great vid lads.
I was loving that old vauxhall victor FB , I learnt to drive in one back in 1971 😀
I had a 304 convertible in the late 80s. Gorgeous car. I'd have another one in a heartbeat. Bought a removable hard top from a scrapyard in France when I lived there. Great memories!
Great content guys it's just good listening to you both stewing the fat and going with the flow
I'm a million miles from being a diesel head...but I love your content just because you come across as a pair of really nice genuine blokes...Good luck to you both...credit to Kent if I'm not mistaken.
Awesome video, really enjoyed it 👍
Very impressed that you take the time to read and like all of your comments!! I don't think I've seen another channel do this. Dedicated!! 👍
I try 👍
Great video, love a classic car auction. Rob - would love to see your car and bike collection on the channel
I used to have a Cortina 1600, an Austin Maxi 1750 and a Daimler Jag but haven't see any of them yet on your channel. I remember the Daimler Jag needed a new head gasket but the dealer in Coventry wouldn;t touch it so I got a garage in Birmingham to do it for me.
My first car was a red, 1969, manual Ford Cortina complete with walnut trimmed dashboard. Epic fun thrashing about Topanga Canyon, Malibu and Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
My first car was a mark one cortina 1500 gt. MMG529C. Cost me two hundred quid. Insurance was ninety seven pounds third party fire and theft. Great fun. Impressed the young ladies!
I am now 75 and have owned 29 cars and had 6 others as new company cars in the early 80s. Restored 20 years ago a series 3 swb landrover which today would be worth some serious cash. Sold it to a farmer in Aberdeenshire and it is still in use albeit on his farm.
Brilliant video guys 👍
Great video rob and nice to see the cars in a bit more detail
So many amazing cars! Love all the info you share.
Perfect! A meander through some great cars! Thanks boys!!!👍👍👍
Lovely old FB Victor. The VX 490 had a square plate. My dad had a VX in the late 60s
Brilliant video Rob and Chris
That red cortina was a Mk5. The MK4 had the smaller rear lights on it and the front indicators are slightly different and the roof was slightly smaller 🙂. Great video as always Rob and Chris 👍
Love these auction videos. I've a Scirocco, like the blue one, but in white with BBS alloys. Fourth one I've had, guess I'm addicted to them!
Fantastic 👌🏻 great episode, very interesting 👍
just love these videos nice to see the classics 👍
Love the video guys keep em coming
Nice walk round guys 👍🏻 My late farther in law had a Nissan Bluebird it was awesome 👏🏻 Let’s see what Chris gets 🤔
great video showing us around the old cars
Love these videos, long time watcher! The ads tho 😮 loads of em!
The red Cortina was a Mk5, not a Mk4. The Mk 5's had a different grille, bigger windows, different front indicator lights, rear light clusters and bigger seats. The Mk 5 was sold from late '79. I had a Mk4, S reg 2.0GL and a V reg Mk5 2.0GL. They were both ex company cars. The Mk4 was much livelier than the Mk5 and I had 100+ out of it. I wish I had kept it it was in the really nice Midnight Blue. Ford gave the Mk5 the name 'Cortina 80', but everyone called it a Mk5!
what a interesting video guys makes a change from fixing or repairing cars as you both need a break from the norm can't wait to see what's next on the channel keep them coming guys 💯💯💯👍👍👍
Loved that fiesta 1.4s - my 1st car D 667 SKA : still driving an under the radar car now : MG4
Great video guys, nice to see the bikes and the old escort van.
Some amazing cars, loved the ford cortina, exactly the same as my dads when I was growing up and the fiesta 1.4 sport which I owned for a few years, then sold it to my mum and then my brother, great cars!
Nice to see a Berkeley 3 wheeler. I had one back in the day, same colour too! Great walk around, some really nice cars.
Absolutely loved this video guy's I'd say Chris is going for the victor and opel kadett that bluebird at the end was beautiful used to have one manual though.👌👌👌
Got myself a hat guys definitely be needing it! Great content as always 👌👌
that was a walk through the history of motoring.....great great video loved it
Nice one lads,Chris’s bid I reckon will be the cortina or the Vauxhall victor 😊
Years and years ago, i used to maintain the paint on an old dears 304 convertible, she was totally in love with it, and it was only used around the area on an irregular basis, and that was probably 35 years ago
How Chris has blossomed over the years, the London to Brighton will be a thing of the past in the future, pretty certain a few events are being cancelled as of next year, pretty certain Brighton were the first to pull a few of the meets.
Red Cortina was a MK5 chaps, the MK4's had smaller rear lights.
Thanks again lads
Can’t wait to see what you boys buy !!
My first Mini was a push button start on the floor, ignition key was on the dash, pull cord door handles (1961 Austin Mini Seven)
Loving the mini 1275Gt …. Back in the day great cars
