  • Little German 2.0-liter turbos tend to do very well with fuel economy. With its sedan counterpart, the Jetta GLI, scoring over 40 MPG on our test, we were anxious to see how the hatchback GTI would fare.

      Step on the gas. Why buy a GTI if you don't drive it? Insurance company appreciates billing you premium.

    In my 2019 Autobahn, I've noticed that mpg is highly dependent on the type and amount of oil in the engine. If oil levels are upper normal range, or topped with 5W, the engine will work slightly harder thus affecting mpg (31mpg mixed driving using 87 gas). Using castrol 0w at middle-low normal level, I was getting 39mph while feathering it. Love the EA888 engine.

    The key to fuel economy is smooth driving, not slow driving.

    • @danielv7340
      @danielv7340 Před 2 lety +1

      @@belikeawolf4627 Don't accelerate/brake unnecessary, learn to anticipate. That is what smooth driving is. This way you can go as fast as you are allowed and not use as much gas since this GTI gets to any speed extremely fast. After that, is just a matter of maintaining speed and that takes a minimum amount of gas. Now, don't go to extremes. At higher speed you will use more gas, obviously. For comparison let's consider 120 km/h vs 90km/h. On a long journey at 120, I could get in the lower 7, while at 90-100, I got a fuel economy down to 6l/100km and sometimes even less. Slow driving, would be either going slow, or getting to your desired speed very slowly.

      @@belikeawolf4627 Yeah, but the DSG. It's even more obvious how fuel economy works cause the automatic can practically drive itself, eliminating all the variables introduced by a human operator.

  • @jordyworley91
    @jordyworley91 Před 2 lety

    I don’t get anywhere close to those numbers but I’m also in cali so there isn’t much just flat roads for miles. I average around 31-33 mpg when I’m driving at 70mph. When I drive at 55-65mph I can average around 35-38mpg. But don’t think most people are going to drive a Gti slow on the highway to get good fuel economy. But if they decided to do so they could.
