- In our experience, German cars get great fuel economy at high speeds. That still doesn't mean we're not impressed when a sporty little car like the GLI can get numbers this good, especially with a manual transmission!

I love my 2020 GLI 6 Speed Manual!!!😎 This car is such a sleeper!!!! Im adding 100HP in Stage 1 to mine soon!!!
Most VW 4 cylindre turbos achieve above their rated MPGs
This, my dad has a 2017 Golf 1.8 TSI with the auto and its rated 36 mpg highway but on roadtrips it easily stays above 40
Love my 2020 GLI Autobahn 6MT. Average 35-37mpg on my daily commute using 87 octane.
I've been using 93 since I bought this thing -.- I thought it was required.
High Octane Never required, just make sure you use clean top tier rated gas… the lower octane will degrade HP performance , but if you want best miles per $$, you will lose big time by using high octane.
im confused it said to also use 91 at the gas tank?
Damn, much more than my GTI
Can you do the arteon
Is there any problems filling it further than what the nozzle detects? I didn't know you could do that
It's not further than the nozzle detects, it's letting the bubbling fuel settle back down, then filling it up again, letting the bubbles settle, then filling it one last time, so it's very close to the nozzle. It's kinda like pouring a soda into a glass.
@@DailyMotor So if I filled it normally, why does my gas gauge show full even though it's not? It looks like you got quite a bit more out your tank (I have a 19 gli)
@@MrChanw11 I'm sure VW set the full mark for the average first click level at the pump.
If you ever get a chance to see a large diesel truck filled up, up close, you'll see that the fuel foams and bubbles quite a bit. Most fuel pumps will detect this as the tank being full, but if you just wait a little while you can put more in. Same idea with your gas car.

I’m getting 35-36 mpg average on my stage 1 gti
What brand stage 1 do you have?

you should have indicated the current temperature outside, because temperature does affect MPG more then you realize, most people do not even realize this! if the temp is 35F your MPG usually is about 4-6 MPG less!! then if it was 60F outside, something to consider and NOT let that detail out !!
We mention outside temperature at 8:39.
@@DailyMotor Ok, thanks, some how i missed that, but i guess when you work from home, and working on more then one computer, i'll tend to miss stuff like this..
I wish to see something for the city driving.
Mpg was very low in stop and go traffic.
and btw, you are wrong about the manual getting MORE mpg on the highway then the automatic! its all about your driving habits, and you should have drove a automatic to do a fair comparison! i am was able to get 45mpg on the highway with automatic ! I have a 2021 jetta GLI autobahn
ya the 7 speed is at like 2k rpm at 75 it sips
how's the mpg nowadays? what speed do you drive at
