- German cars are typically great for road trips, and the VW GTI is no exception. However, if you really want to sip fuel, the automatic might be better than this manual.

base GTI with a stick is always the best GTI
IMO there's no 'splitting the difference' - distance divided by fill is the MPG. The end.
I don't think the pump fill is a perfect science. That's why I like to consider both data points.
putting premium in the mk8 gti makes no difference. you are better off running regular unless the car is tuned
I can't speak for the Mk8 but my in my Mk7.5 premium did make a difference. Little more torque and more top end pull. I don't see why it would be different here
@@maximus9401 The EA888 Evo4 is tuned for 86...... the end.

"Hey everybody, its Charlie."
"Hi, Charlie!"
Hello!
Unless that was an AA joke :P
@@DailyMotor no no, just a continuation from the livestream 🫡
nice!! I have the same car, 2023 Atlantic Blue 6MT
Charlie, A side by side Tach Shot® comparison between the 6 speed manual and 7 speed dual clutch might reveal the auto is revving a little lower on the highway. I just have to give another shout out to those plaid seats. 🤩
You reminded me of the Tach Shot! I gotta get back in the routine of that now that I've assumed majority of these tests again.
@@DailyMotor 👍
Which is better, the Mark Levinson 17-speaker Lexus audio system or the Harman Kardn BMW audio system?
This would be a good alternative, price wise, to the Civic Si. The GTI has quite a bit more power, cloth seats like the Si but with heat, missing sunroof and proxy key…I’m pretty happy with my Si but may have to check one of these out.
Have you considered the Kia Forte GT? Less power but you can get heated/vented seats and a stick or DCT for less than $30k.

So also has much better mileage and stereo and real buttons and ac knobs but no rear seat vents or USB and only half digital gauges. 🎉
I don't understand why you gave it a higher number than what the pump indicated ? If I was driving I'd put in regular and run the tires at 36 psi . just to make it a liveable commuter car . Interesting video all around .
I don't considered the pump fill to be a perfect science. So I like to take both data points into consideration.
@@DailyMotor OK Gotcha ! You and your friends make some of my favourite car videos by the way . Congrats for making real content . 🙂
9:00 - wow 480 niles…. I wonder home many miles are in a nile???
How did the travel assist perform?
Seemed to be better than the first Mk8s. But it will still nag you even when you're driving normally with a hand on the wheel. So I typically have it off.
@@DailyMotor Ah that’s disappointing. High quality ADAS is a must have for my next purchase. In your opinion, what are your favorite highway driving assistant systems? Volvo, Honda, Hyundai/Kia, and Tesla all seem pretty good.
@@dschinkal Lol you got most of them right there. Hyundai/Kia is one of the best for mainstream brands. Chevy SuperCruise is the best I've used for highway self driving. Mercedes and BMW are also very good now, but obviously much more cash. Ford's basic lane keeping is unobtrusive but their BlueCruise is a snooze.
@@DailyMotor Good to know. Thanks for the insight!
I’m one minute into this and since I have a 2016, I’m making a prediction: 36.
I was close. I’m still getting that after 210K.
That's impressive mileage!
How’s the lgbtq 🏳️🌈 state treating you 😂
