I don’t like Kylie at all but this is just silly. She admits herself she got over excited at the opportunity. When I got a cake for my wedding I reached out to a few cake designers for quotes. The cake makers didn’t make a whole bunch of cakes assuming I’d buy it. They simply told me from the ideas I sent, ingredients preferred, and from the amount of servings around how much it would cost. She was so blinded by the money she forgot how to be a professional. Then she’s calling Kylie greedy? They both are… that’s why they in the luxury goods business. Clearing her whole schedule? That’s just bad business practice.

Nah as professional baker Amy is 100% in the wrong. You don't ask for a deposit before discussing ideas and making mood boards, that's just a hit or miss thing and clients need to be informed and on the same page BEFORE they agree to book you. Kylie's team DID NOT confirm a booking, they made an enquiry and requested an inspo board for what was presumably going to be a very expensive cake (no doubt with the celebrity version of a wedding tax attached). Amy got ahead of herself and started working her schedule around an enquiry. They didn't ask her to cancel and reject orders to work exclusively on a cake for Kylie. The team was not obligated at all to proceed with the booking, not sure why Kylie is getting ripped a new one for this when most bakers would have enquiries almost daily from 'normal' people that don't end up booking and we don't go online berating those people... She also straight up leaked pics of Kylie's launch that were sent to her in confidence and in a professional exchange because she was butthurt and couldn't control herself, not professional at all.
    - Not a Kylie fan, never bloody heard of this Amy woman, professional chef and baker
Edit - Jesus Christ and suggesting she should have literally blackmailed Kylie for 5k to remove the stories. Because that's what that is, blackmail. This is just so unprofessional and straight up entitled of her.

To me, she made a huge mistake by getting swept up in the excitement of working with a big celebrity. Surely, she wouldn’t have treated the average customer as such (no written agreement, a free pitch, stopping all other orders). It seems like they just made an inquiry just as any of us would do at a local bakery and she took it as contracted work. I think it’s interesting that they couldn’t pay for the cake, but I guess that’s how businesses work- they set budgets even if they are lowballing.

I understand where the business owner is coming from, but I do think that she was in the wrong here. Kylie's team didn't just ask for a quote. She initially tried to send them examples of pink cakes that she'd done in the past, but they didn't feel like that was good enough and asked for an actual design. At this point, it was the owner's responsibility to ask for a design fee. I get that she was eager to please them and didn't want to scare them off, but they were under no obligation to follow through with the design, and it wasn't their responsibility to offer money for the design fee and for her time. As much as it was embarrasingly cheap of billionaire Kylie's team to say that the cake was "out if their budget", in a purely business sense, they did nothing wrong. This is the kind of thing that you talk shit about with your friends over a glass of wine, not something that you do an expose about online. Now, other big brands are going to be afraid to work with her because they'll be worried about being dragged through the mud if they decide not to move forward with the design. Again, I understand why she was upset on a personal level, Kylie's team seems incredibly greedy and cheap, but this had no business showing up on her professional accounts.

I don't understand why she didn't ask for at least a budget... Start to design a cake without knowing how much someone is willing to pay is just a bad move, even if the client has money. You ask a budget and do a design around that budget, maybe if she did that the contract would be hers... And I'm only guessing, but maybe because Kylie have money she did a extra expensive design when they wanted something more budget friendly... But this part is only my guess...

But she forgot that rich people care very much about money… that’s why they’re rich. She probably went all out with her design when they probably wanted something a bit more simple since it’s just a launch party. She also throws dozens of parties a year so imagine if she just went crazy with the budget every time she wouldn’t be a billionaire for much longer. I agree 100%. Usually when I do inquiries and asking for examples, vendors would give me some ideas to move forward, they usually try to give me some design to please me. And then I'll ask for their quotation. If I can match them, I'll say yes, but if it's not it's totally okay. Some vendors will charge me some design fee for customized design pitches, but it's rare. Projects like this costs a lot so vendors usually tried their best to please clients. You just need to draw the line on design fees.

She should ask for deposit or consultation fee. In design you often take consultation fee while making rough sketch/mood boards etc. as client can take them and use them somewhere else. In that situation you are still paid for what you did. Kylie still did copy her, but she played herslef for giving out her job for free. Also she did really bad bussiness moves with not taking any other clients becuase she thought she will have Kylie - until there's nothing in writing she should not do it. Another thing is that she kinda leaked Kylie's perfume, yes she did not sign NDA but there should be some kind of level of discression. She should have handle it differently.

You should talk about how Kylie’s Khy drop 004 ripped off an Australia brand named Johansen. Literally identical and johansen had hers released over 2 years ago. Her team just rips people off.

    A ‘fragrant’ perfume? Groundbreaking.

    That’s funny.

That bottle in my opinion is like a basic design. Like Kylie’s team could have done much better than this. like seriously that packaging looks like someone would get at the dollar store.

Sorry, but this is all on Amy. She went crazy because Kylie's team inquired about a cake. Amy did not ask for a damn deposit and started working for free. I think that she got too excited because she read Kardashian/Jenner. That is why you should NEVER be impressed by a name! Treat everyone equally. Had she treated Kylie's team like she treats the rest of her clients, none of this would have happened.

I'm a perfume channel and aside from perfumes I get for the scent I also like to also collect perfumes for the bottle. And that bottle is hideous. My roommate says it shaped like a squished mango.

Sadly, Amy's in the wrong on this one. She leaked a new product, cleared her schedule without an order, expected money for creating a deck, and felt entitled to exclusivity without a contract. It's also very unprofessional of her those Instagram stories. Just because Kylie's a billionaire doesn't mean her brand has the same resources, it doesn't work like that.

She put all of her real customers orders aside just because a celebrity gave an order. Normal people don't matter if a celebrity is involved. Also she gave her special threathment and didn't take a deposit from a rich person who can pay it easily. So unprofessional. She got what she deserved tbh.

Moral of the story: Don't give your designs and ideas to any Kar-Jenner unless you get paid upfront for them and a contract

As for this drama. I feel like yes, Amy should have gotten something in writing as everyone should!
But on the other side, Kylie's team didn't get anything in writing either so Amy was free to say and show what she wanted. And for them to copy her cake and design is clear that they were using her and her creativity so I have no issue with how she reacted.

of course they didnt want to pay for it, they think that since they are kylie jenner that things get handed to her. its how she was raised.

It’s the last post of hers that really rubs me the wrong way, when she says maybe she should of asked for 5k and that she’s scared of what they can do. Really weird and unprofessional. Don’t respect that mindset. But if a victim mentality, and acting like she should of charged purely cos kylie is rich. Yeah, they went about things wrong slightly, but she comes off worse in the end tbh.
