Thats what you see in the fitness community often too. Many fitness influencers used to suffer from anorexia or other eating disorders. They havent changed much, it is just masking the issue. The behaviour remains excessive. I have also seen former alcohol addicts now into sports working out for 3 or more hours every day. It is insane.
I struggled with substance abuse, and traded it for a shopping addiction. I hate it. It’s just a trade.

I have a hoarding disorder. I suffer a lot from it. I’m only 22 and I’ve had it since I was younger than 10 cause of severe trauma. It is hell on earth. It’s not fun and the more I accumulate I am simultaneously euphoric and overcome with crippling anxiety and paranoia I am. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I’ve also noticed another CZcamsr on the up and up doing nothing but huge hauls and shopping all the time. Her name is Marisa Marie. Watching her videos now are quite overwhelming to me.
I think they took that "one step" a long time ago, unfortunately. And I don't mean that spitefully. I like CZcamsrs like Hope Scope who give away most of the stuff they get in hauls. It's a lot better for your mental health than simply accumulating. Having too much piles up on you psychologically and when you have vastly more possessions than you need or can/will EVER use that's definitively "hoarding". I'm not judging them as people, I just personally can't watch it because it gives me anxiety and I don't think content like that is great for younger viewers. It is normalizing and glamorizing overconsumption without showing the bad side of it.

During the pandemic, I landed a tech job and became addicted to shopping because I was so anxious about shutdowns and covid and my parents were in another country, all that. I became OBSSESSED with statinary and bought EVERYTHING that came out. I used to get a rush from it, but in the end, it caused me so many problems because I started to acumulate things. There's this thing about romanticize extreme shopping habits that make me unconfortable because is about the money, the space, the hoarding... ugh, it gives me flashbacks.
I also bought tons of clothes and now I don’t know what to do with them. I don’t feel well but I also don’t want to stop buying. It’s so strange.
@@loisenone of the things I did, and I know right now is very hard was going to therapy. For me, this behavior was rooted in a need for control, I wanted to be able to control something to no feel helpless and that led me to buy. I know things right now are very hard, but my go to is always therapy

The problem with influencers (I’m an influencer/content creator) is we become invested in their personal lives. We watch them experience milestones and grow their following. We begin rooting for them, keeping up with them with no real connection to them. It is a one-sided relationship.
In our social media world, it’s increasingly difficult to determine what’s a real attempt to connect and what’s performance. Vulnerability can be difficult with channels like this that criticize your everything you share.
So while I don’t think it’s wrong to follow influencers, I do think there needs to be a mindfulness and balance in consuming their content. It’s important to identify what life YOU are building. Remembering that your life story, goals and relationships are uniquely yours can help to keep things in perspective.

I'm so sick of hearing about her making mocktails.... because I'm sorry but if she was actually in recovery, for drinking, then why would she keep pushing mocktails?.. for someone who is an actual alcoholic, they would be struggling drinking something that would remind them about an actual cocktail. Maybe years and years down the line after you have been in recovery for a long time. Then maybe you would be able to have a mocktail. But I just don't think someone who is an alcoholic can just wake up one day and stop drinking then go right into drinking mocktails. This is just MY OPINION, coming from someone who has been in recovery for over 15 years now. And personally I still turn down even a mocktail, because the thought of having something that tastes like an alcoholic beverage, I would be worried that all those feeling and emotions would come flooding back, and I have come way too far to fall back down that rabbit hole.... Again this is just my opinion......
