Aside from that, from these videos it looks like she has no freckles at all so it sounds hypocritical of her to say she uses this make up technique to cover them up. I personally don't use tiktok so I only have the material from this video as reference

It hurts when there are so many good super cheap foundations. For me personally, even if i can technically afford a 55$ foundation, it would hurt so much to spend that much money on a thing that first of all will get expired, and that it does not have gold or anything because girl 55 for something so basic...

Crazy how influencers fake things like this. How hard is it to be yourself? You can't keep up a lie forever, and being an honest influencer people can trust is better than being a liar.
Ok, but they see a temporary drop in morals to be worth whatever money/clout they might get from it.
And I hate to say it, because I hate this fake stuff, but the bump in views for it is undeniable, even with the algorithm helping out. We can say how much we hate it, but until we stop watching it, it’ll continue.
Hmmmm It’s not particularly necessary for influencers to be authentic, it’s like playing a character. Or like in customer service, workers are supposed to be more cheery and friendly than they are normally. Because it’s more appealing for business. That would be considered professional, even if it isn’t honest. Honestly, it’s not the end of the world for influencers to be fake. Its just like sales person pushing a bunch of product that you don’t need, it’s the typical business model

I personally don't understand how this kind of shocking strategy works. When I'm watching shorts and I see something that's obviously over exaggerated or too noisy, I just swipe right away. But if it works, it works I guess 😂

Because people can't HELP themselves BUT to comment/engage with videos like that. They HAVE to have THEIR opinions known. Realistically, they'll stop doing it when we actually stop watching it. But we won't so.

Do you watch instagram or CZcams shorts? Because I never had TikTok but I’m still so addicted to instagram. I do have quite good content I’m really interested in but I can just spend hours. And then I switch to CZcams or Facebook which only lasts luckily like a minute because it’s so dumb but still the addiction 👹

@@trevillinghonestly I deleted tiktok and Instagram exactly for that reason, while I can't get rid of youtube shorts there is a way to make them dissapear temporary by not interesting all the ones on your feed, they'll go away for like 10-20 minutes (some people have said they go away for hours but mine usually come back quicker) I'm hoping they'll make it a removable option
@@trevilling Yea, I will occasionally fall into the reels and shorts rabbit hole. But I know when I should get off and do something else productive. But I guess another thing that helped me was that I was posting on TikTok for public views but on Insta I mainly post for friends and family so it feels like less pressure and societal pressure that helped with my mental health.
I’ve always said, the influencers aren’t really the problem - the audience who keeps clicking, keeps commenting, and engaging with the ridiculous content are the problem. These influencers are nothing without the hype created by the audience. Everyone needs to stop watching these clowns and let them fade into oblivion

Honestly, I scroll past most of those shock value makeup things. There's so many insanely talented makeup artists that don't get the recognition they deserve because the algorithm keeps rewarding these sort of videos.
I dont think a broke person would be spending $55 on a foundation that doesn't last long, like i spend about $30 on mine and i make that shit last because anything can come up financially

And "Mikayla exaggerating" something is actually code for "Mikayla lying her ass off".
Make up TikToks are useless to me. The things I need explained if I’m going to buy or use a technique: like various ways of applying and (the biggest) what it looks like after hours of wear are not covered. Also under blushing and under contouring is an old technique. Jackie Aina did a much less extreme version of this years ago that I actually use. It’s pretty forgiving. But Jackie also did a thorough explanation of this technique in a longer video.

The thing is, i feel like their makeup isnt improving by using that much product, it feels like it looks really bad and that you're wasting a lot of product. Underpaiting never really stood out to me, because you're gonna have to apply blush/contour/bronzer twice. That blush also looked really weird.

I've never liked blush, it's always been scary for me. I'm afraid of putting too much on, but I need it in my beauty routine lol. I always with a little bit and start slow and apply more if I feel I need more. But this, had just escalated my fear of blush even more.

I want realistic beauty content. Not people that can afford to waste product or buy high end items, that also do these insane looks. It would just be refreshing to see someone with the budget and skill of a normal person showing us what they use, and how they get their final every day look.

As someone who is working hard to get my small business and my off-grid lifestyle out on social media, this is disheartening but also intriguing. I try hard to be my authentic self, and if I post something slightly shocking, it's still something I truly believe or resonate with. It can be so discouraging to work hard on coming up with ideas, filming, editing, etc., and get 300 views on tiktok, and knowing if I was being obnoxious, over the top, fake, and tapped into the over spending over-consumption aspect of our society, I would likely have much more success.
Stuff like this makes me want the app to get banned even more. The app is a cesspool of idiots doing this dumb stuff along with all the trash in the tiktok shop.
