Glamzilla has gone the way all influencers go. They gain a following for being honest and down to earth then they get popular and lose touch with reality and get wrapped up in their own self importance.
Seeing people use products in correctly ON PURPOSE just to be able to talk badly about it and get attention is so infuriating. These “influencers” need their five minutes of fame so badly and are willing to tear a brand down to do it. Of all the brands, doing this to ELF is so low. They’ve been affordable and very good quality for my whole life, it seems like they’re more successful than ever now. Glamzilla is so shady and gross.
She also did a review on ELFs lip tints which I bought because of her, she liked them, not to defend her, I just wanna say that she doesn't only talk shit about ELF
He reviewed some stuff of Kat Von D's a few years back when her bad apple foundation dropped. Dudes problematic, but he avoids brands he doesn't agree with to avoid making false reviews. But His review of the foundation was straight and to the point.
Right? I always think back to the rhode review and how he threw it in the trash without even reviewing it. Didn't even give it to anyone, didn't reject it from the company. Accepted the pr and threw it away.
she’s really getting to the point where she doesn’t care what anyone has to say but then begin to criticize the people that are calling her out on her shit.
She has money. She can afford to have the products. If some poor person couldn’t afford makeup, they probably aren’t buying it. If they are, then they’ll buy one after a lot of consideration. She could have donated it. And poor people would be more grateful for free products too.
In my country you can't return used makeup because "you didn't like it", if you bought something and ended up not working for you, you have 4 options: not using it, find a way to use it that you like, use it anyways or try to resell it. It's so insane to me that you can just return everything.
Same here. If you’re lucky there are testers but even then, you can’t use the products like you would at home. I have many products I had to make work somehow. 😂

@@cantstanditanymorethey do lose though… you cannot resell makeup so when it’s returned to sephora it gets binned. that is horrifically wasteful and should not be legal - it’s illegal in my country.
HIII I used to work for Sephora as of 2023- they DO NOT destroy/throw out makeup like at my past jobs such as Sally beauty or Ulta. The “damage/used” bin gets taken by another company who sorts through it and anything deemed reusable gets donated to multiple places, and the unsaveable gets tossed
Its not returning them thats the problem. Its opening them ALL after discovering you dont like the formula, knowing youre gonna return them anyway. The wastefulnes.
Exactly. It wasn't the color not working for her, but the formula. I could MAYBE see trying one other one (in case the first was a one off), but not every single one!
I don't see the issue of her opening to try the lipsticks. That's what reviewers do. If she tried just one shade and then said she didn't like and didn't proceed to try the others, people would be saying she's biased and didn't give it a proper try. Personally I watch beauty videos not because I am listening for their opinion, sometimes to see shades. Lip shades could look cool toned online.. but when you order, it's actually very warm toned. It's nice when people swatch the whole range on video so we know how the shade actually looks other than advertising photos by the brand which may be heavily edited for aesthetics.
I absolutely can’t stand her content. Irritates me 10x more than Mikayla’s ever did. I literally have to skip past the clips of her in other videos 💀 Also, I agree that she’s had some bad takes and is acting super weird… who gleefully gloats over ignoring constructive criticism? She just comes across very immature. ETA: on one hand, she’s right that she’s getting more views right now, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into more loyal viewers. I’ve only become aware of her recently, but she annoys me, and I would never watch her content on her channel, or buy any products she was associated with or produced.
I also never understand why the texture of such gloss products is never tested with an extra brush, then you can even give it away if you don't like it. I don't understand that with liquid eyeshadows either.
Glam you’re right, you’re not an influence that would wait for a PR packages but you will buy products and tag them in it hoping that you could be their PR list girl we see you and we know the favoritism
PR is mailed out.. and she receives it late, probably weeks after the product is launched. By then others would have reviewed the product. No point making a video, editing and posting it, if the hype for the product is already over. So she buys the products herself. I don't see the issue of her opening to try the lipsticks. That's what reviewers do. If she tried just one shade and then said she didn't like and didn't proceed to try the others, people would be saying she's biased and didn't give a proper try.
Yeah she's trying to act like she's better than everyone that waits until they get their pr to review stuff, and you can believe her more because she buys it with her own money. But the only reason she buys it with her own money is because she doesn't get the pr in time. But also, she returns what she buys. So yeah, saying she buys the product with her own money isn't the flex she thinks it is.
@@HeatherWho11.10 It isn't a flex. It's just her doing her job. If you lived 3 hours away from work, you have to wake up earlier than the rest of your colleagues to get to office on time. It's not a flex, it's the fact of the situation. She's just explaining that she BUYS a lot of product. Imagine if she had to keep every collection and colour. I don't see what's wrong if she returns a few things she doesn't like considering she buys a ton of product for reviews. Unless she's buying EVERYTHING and returning EVERYTHING, that's disgusting! But from the video, it appears that she's returning just that specific collection, so I don't get the issue. Like her job is to review and swatch shades, so that people can look it up online before purchasing. People who have similar skintone as her might be watching to see which colour might be suitable for them. I don't see the issue with her swatching all colours.
Don't know why but I can't keep a straight face at 9:26 when she hits us with the 'poor 12 years old boy who only has 20 dollars' and she gets emotional 😂 like she's saving lives with her reviews, they can't afford the food but damn those Lips will absolutely be hot fire! It’s tacky and honestly disrespectful to those who actually can’t afford. I grew up in such conditions and I remember my mom only buying cheap drugstore lipsticks and eyeliner (no hate to drugstore makeup it’s amazing quality) since that’s all we could afford back then. I work now, and can afford to buy my mom anything she wants, but she’s fine with what she has. If a kid with $20 wants to buy their loved one a lipstick, they can buy any drugstore makeup or two and still have money left over. She’s just nasty for coming up with a BS excuse and she’s enjoying all of this attention.
“Trying to cancel her… OVER A LIPSTICK?!? Can you imagine? Because I Can’t!” sounds so incredibly ironic coming from someone who was very nearly cancelled over a lipstick herself…
I think that Sephora's return policy is extremely disrespectful to the environment. In Sephora in several other countries they do not return anything that has been opened - and I honestly thinks that it is okay.
i’m so confused in the UK if you’ve broke the seal of a product then you can’t return it? like if it’s been used, if you’re happy or not then it can’t be returned. i think the only exception is if like once you’ve opened the product and it’s not the correct product (mislabelled or incorrectly packaged) then you could return it but unsealed products? they’d probs laugh in your face and tell you to go away
Glamzilla is now starting to show her true colors as the new Mikayla doing things for money and fame. Like I just don’t get why these influencers don’t like be honest and authentic. But apparently chasing the money is more important than there fans and being real. Like seriously all they do is lie and pretend like they are beneath their fans. Like they are all narcissists and people who will do anything for a check.
It is so disingenuous of Glamzilla to compare her buying makeup to a regular customer buying makeup. This is her job. And for tax purposes in Canada, if she is purchasing makeup for her job, she gets to write them off. And to ignore that and pretend that she's just a poor Canadian girl who has to buy things all on her lonesome is so gross.
Sephora actually cuts you off after a certain amount of returns. They will block you from returning anymore stuff. She also could have written it off on her taxes as a business expense. Duh.
It’s wild to me that in North America you can get a full refund on opened and used products, simply because you don’t like it. If a product was faulty or contaminated- that would make sense to get a refund. America is so wasteful. There’s testers in the store for a reason
@@bre7931it's wasteful for the environment. Knowing that you can return any shit even after opening a product basically gives you a pass to spend your money however you like it. I promise you that you would think twice before buying something if you know that you cannot return it. Used returned items go to trash, which creates extra waste for the environment. It doesn't harm anybody if we are conscious of our consumption.
@@bre7931 No worries, you can be as wasteful as you like even if there are limitations on returning used items (outside North America, I've never seen that returning opened make-up items being allowed), there are no laws against that. Just bc ppl are in tough situations doesn't mean they deserve to risk their health using used makeup. Her returning it to the store for it to be destroyed was the best choice, we were just in a pandemic y'all
What I’m curious about is if when she buys a product for a review that’s a write off, right? Well, if she purchases makeup to review then returns it, then she keeps the receipt to write it off anyways. So she gets a tax write off for free basically. I don’t know if that would work or not, or how Canadian taxes work but I could totally see influencer doing shady things like that.
As a european it is crazy to me that people are buying products and returning them AFTER opening and trying them out. I live in Germany and you can only return products and get your money back if they haven't been opened (there may be exceptions, e.g. when you've had an allergic reaction) and I think that's reasonable, otherwise that would invite people to be very wasteful
About Glamzilla returning the lipsticks... I don't know how taxes work in Canada, I'm an American. This seems super shady to me. In the States things that are purchased for a business can be claimed a tax exemption. So, she's sort of getting that money back twice. Once on the store return and then on her yearly tax refund.
I worked at sephora and there was an influencer in my area that was pretty popular online she would return thousands of used products weekly and it was so frustrating. I did explain to her once that we destroy everything that is used and she was shocked and started being way more conscience of her wastefulness
Anyone else think it's odd that Jacklyn said she cant imagine trying to be canceled over lipstick? Like didn't you have fuzzy lipsticks as your first brand launch?
Its unheard of in Europe. Here, you cannot return antything that is open and used. There are a lot of testers available and even though I would never touch my lips with a tester due to sanitary reasons, it gives a pretty good idea about a texture of a product.
"I'm not like other influencers" 😂😂😂 She is EXACTLY like other influencers. It was so cringe when she was trying to justify trying every shade, after knowing she didn't like it after the first one, by saying she's doing it for the mom that doesn't have much to spend on herself or the boy that wants a lipstick...girl all your doing is encouraging these companies to up their prices to compensate for people like you! That company is now out all that money since she felt the need to try every color then return them...how does that help anyone but herself? She's so ignorant and oblivious it's embarrassing.
The way he’s spoken down on women in the past is not easy to forget but I won’t take away from his work ethic. To go from MySpace “influencer” to owning a multi million dollar cosmetics company is amazing. One of the very few influencers to build a well established brand.
The shady stuff being racism, misogyny, shitting on non binary people, & committing SA amongst other things! But hey he doesn’t lie about makeup!! Your morals are just.. different than mine I guess. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I honestly think that Glamzilla was desperate to regain her "truthful and real reviewer" reputation that she used to have, so she rushed to put out a bad review as quickly as she could. She saw that people have been calling her fake so she looked for the first product that she's not affiliated with and trashed it on purpose. She thought people would be like "omg truthful queeeen this is why we love you" like they did with Jeffrey Star back when he threw the Kylie glosses in the trash. Her weird whisper acting is peak millenial cringe and makes me physically recoil.
Say what you want about Jeffree but I trust his reviews the most. If he says something is good, it's good. And trusting his reviews out of all of these influencers really says something.
It is so annoying when people try and claim that they are being unfairly harassed, when people who were actually unfairly harassed and canceled, you don't even know they're making videos cause it's shadow band
Isn’t literally the best thing about Sephora that you can literally see and try the products before buying? Why would you buy something you would hate? Returning used make up because you don’t like it is insane. It’s like returning used undergarments wtf. What a massive influencer from my country does is she uses most of the PR she is given with one time use applicators so that if she doesn’t like it or because she doesn’t need all, she can just give it off to her followers who are cool with getting a for example once opened foundation or mascara in giveaways. I found that sweet.
Right on time here comes Jeffrey Star inserting himself into other peoples drama and siding with the majority and repackaging it as him being "the most unbiased and real" person in the beauty community. If youre a fan of him im gonna assume youre as horrible of a person that he is.
I agree with the people!! If I want to try something imma buy one first then if I like the formula THEN AND ONLY THEN I will get more colors that I KNOW will look good on my skin-tone.
If I have learned anything from being on the internet and watching these influencers and listening to the people who are behind the scenes, it's that being an influencer/online celebrity isn't about your followers, fans, parasocial relationships, or authenticity. It's about how much engagement you get on a post, how many likes, views, shares, can they get? With engagement comes money, whether it's good or bad. Unfortunately, being a good person doesn't get people talking. It doesn't get people to view your videos or to engage, not like being problematic does, and it's why you still see so many problematic or "cancelled" influencers/celebrities still relevant and still rich. Austin McBroom is a great example of this right now. He's on snapchat doing and saying anything, even if it isn't the truth, to get paid. And it's WORKING. Glamzilla is just taking advantage of the system now.
I hate when influencers complain about how they work so hard. Being an influencer is literally the easiest job you could possibly have. And this is coming from someone who makes videos myself. I'm no influencer I'm to even monetized yet but I can honestly say making videos is so easy. I literally just speak my mind and post it. I honestly think anyone could make videos. And she's making tiktoks which is even easier.

Good point. Didnt even think about that, for some reason. I guess no one is checking on that though bc theres probably no way to do so, so itd be hard to prove.
I actually did some research after seeing your comment, seems to be a very grey area.. like the other commenter said, very hard to track. But through the multiple websites I’ve seen now, here in Canada it’s extremely similar and yes exactly! tax fraud. Good catch.
What you don't get is the IRS loves grey areas because the burden is on you to prove yourself innocent.

“I’m not like other influencers…”
Main character syndrome?
I didn’t think there would be an influencer more annoying than Mikayla, but here we are…
The way she says "I'm not like other influencers" Like

She just comes across very immature.
ETA: on one hand, she’s right that she’s getting more views right now, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into more loyal viewers. I’ve only become aware of her recently, but she annoys me, and I would never watch her content on her channel, or buy any products she was associated with or produced.
I also never understand why the texture of such gloss products is never tested with an extra brush, then you can even give it away if you don't like it. I don't understand that with liquid eyeshadows either.
That’s an excellent point!
This right here 👌

The fact she was enjoying all the engagement - even if it was bad… just shows what kind of person she is
So wait, she said she buys everything with her own money, but then in the same breathe she says she gets her PR late because she's in Canada?

That was the joke…the irony of both situations.

What she is basically saying is any attention is better than no attention, even if it’s all negative attention.
Temporary fame will always flock to those that will be the most insufferable to keep it
Sephora actually cuts you off after a certain amount of returns. They will block you from returning anymore stuff. She also could have written it off on her taxes as a business expense. Duh.
That’s interesting. Like a dollar amount over time, or number of returned transactions?
It’s wild to me that in North America you can get a full refund on opened and used products, simply because you don’t like it. If a product was faulty or contaminated- that would make sense to get a refund. America is so wasteful. There’s testers in the store for a reason
I agree but lately bcuz of sephora kids, testers have been banned, at least in the stores near me
I don’t think it’s wasteful. I want my money back if a product doesn’t work for me

That’s not shady, just wasteful
Glamzilla has been giving mean girl vibes
Yeah I think it's fraud of some kind for sure.

Jeffree has done some really shady stuff through the years but when it comes to makeup he is the only one I trust 110% 🤷🏼♀️
The way he’s spoken down on women in the past is not easy to forget but I won’t take away from his work ethic. To go from MySpace “influencer” to owning a multi million dollar cosmetics company is amazing. One of the very few influencers to build a well established brand.

There are plenty of influencers who buy products with their own money. Not everyone gets PR.
This situation gives the same vibes as when everyone was “accidentally” using that Bobbi Brown foundation incorrectly
Right on time here comes Jeffrey Star inserting himself into other peoples drama and siding with the majority and repackaging it as him being "the most unbiased and real" person in the beauty community. If youre a fan of him im gonna assume youre as horrible of a person that he is.

It truly is sad thing though. Being authentic and likeable won't get you nowhere it seems
I've never seen anyone try to constantly get cancelled
The truth that we gave these people this confidence is really sad and makes me upset
