yeah i agree like something has to be extremely unique for me to actually think somethings been ripped off. it always just seems like " my brand sells t shirts and youre ripping me off if your brand has t shirts too " lol people get inspiration from other peoples brands, thats just how designs work.... but i think theyre ridiculous for saying they developed that design through hard work and innovation... its not that complicated lol

@@sunbeam3658well nothing is ever completely unique and original, that doesn’t mean people don’t deserve credit when they inspire someone else. Plagiarism is defined as taking someone else’s work/ideas and passing them off as their own. Thats why you cite your sources in essays, even if you don’t copy the source exactly. I get that it’s harder to define in fashion and music, but that doesn’t mean it’s always a free for all, c’mon now

@@sunbeam3658 yeah it’s ridiculous on both ends. Neither of them were being revolutionary by twisting the fabric💀 I’m pretty sure my mom had a similar style top in the 2000s. If she said that Kylie copied the concept then maybe because obviously Kylie knew of the brand but they shouldn’t sit there and act like the design is anything brand new. Emmm…it’s a tight off the shoulder dress. It looks kind of similar to something my mum had in an old box, from waaaaay longer than four years ago. I don’t believe for a moment, that Kylie has had an original thought in her life, but in my mind, the designs are SO generic, that it is hard for anyone to prove ownership. When the lady said, she ripped off her entire collection, I assumed it was more than just a generic dress…but it isn’t. It’s also mesh, so not a proprietary fabric or anything, which is exceptionally flattering. Just…yeah.
Mind you, I think it would be infinitely better, if she recognised her lack of originality and collaborated with smaller designers, who genuinely ARE inspired, but that doesn’t mean she’s plagiarised a specific designer.

And this isn’t just one or two pieces in the collection either. The ENTIRE collection looks like a rip from the Australian brand. It’s one thing to expect the best from a first time offender, but Kylie has been caught doing this again and again and again.

It’s not just the twist design. It’s literally the exact same length, exact same colours and material. No it’s not a groundbreaking design. But someone with no knowledge of either brand could believe they’re all from the same collection. It’s the fact that it’s so obviously a mirror copy that makes it infuriating. There was literally zero effort to even change the colours or fabric. The reason it’s a big deal is because this could put an independent brand out of business. She also undercut the price of the original designer. Just pathetic. When you’re a billionaire or “almost billionaire” this is just so unnecessary. She obviously doesn’t need the money. It’s like she did it purposely to cause drama.

I in no way give a shit about the Kardashian and Jenner family. But these small companies that don't even break a million in following be jumping out the woods that celebrities took their design for literally any launch. The market is so over saturated that it feels much less believable that a non-recognizable brand was spotted for their design or if it was even really unique in the first place. But it never fails to bring attention to them so it pays to bring drama.

The problem is based on the pre-existing designs being distinct enough to have been copyright-protected. The collections are visually very similar and there's evidence that the pre-existing designs had been sent to Kylie's' company and personal address as photographs of Kylie wearing some of the previous designs before her collection was made.

I hate to point this out but both designers have ripped off these designs from designers of the past…. Like from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I do think Johanson was ripped off by Kylie. I don’t think Kylie understands was collaborating is verses stealing. She needs to give credit where credit is due but again, in fashion, every idea is recycled from the past.

I literally don't understand why people still buy her stuff. She has such a huge fan following and also so much money can't she actually make something of her own for once? Kylie always copies other's ideas and all her comments are filled with hate comments and always turned off, yet people buy her stuff like nothing happened. We need to cancel her. Like people should realize that people like the Kardashian family should not get fame. I'm so sick of them.

    My opinion:
It’s inspired by the original, but not a copy.
At some point you’ll see everything again somewhere else.
All designers in every field get inspired by things they see, buy, etc.
As it’s 3-4 years ago Kylie was wearing the dress, it might even have slipped her, where the inspiration is from.
    Entertaining as always!
    Best wishes

Lowkey is kind of a stretch for me. Plenty of brands have experimented with twists, knots, and variants of this kind of fabric manipulation. Y/Project has been doing it with their twisted tank tops and dresses, Rick Owens with bikinis, and even giving the asymetric look. Omg, even Kim did it with SKIMS with that twist collection she had. Its all kinda greco-roman-esque, kinda similar, all with very subtle changes but like no one is reinventing the wheel lol

I think all designs are being recycled with different variations, it’s not just Kylie tho. People just love to call her out for allegedly copying their design because it’ll also bring attention to their brand. Prior to this ive seen these style used in other dresses too, those designs probably were launched first.

I don’t think the biggest issue here is the “stolen designs“. It’s charging $150 Canadian for a black spandex pencil skirt. Nothing fancy about it just a black spandex pencil skirt. So now here is the thing if you are buying this shit, you have a serious mental issue that I think you need to talk to a professional about because why are you buying this shit? It’s so expensive and you can get literally the exact same thing at like Walmart.I don’t care if it’s a “good fabric” you’re paying $150 for a black spandex pencil skirt that isn’t even a flattering length on anybody

If the designer can show that her designs have maintained distinctiveness and that customers have come to assosicate the style with her brand, (customers thinking they did a collab could collaborare that), then yes, she has grounds to sue. Also if shes dressed Kylie before, that makes her claims even stronger.

If people are confusing the design with Kylie and she doesn’t defend her designs then Kylie can claim it’s her design and sue her because she has to defend her trademark or copyright under law otherwise it’s abandoned. But suing would take lots of money, a nice lawyer on a contingency would be best
